"This corner building was once a hotel in the 1950s but morphed into restaurants and bars over the years. Now it's a trendy, 17-room boutique just a block from the city's bustling thoroughfare Avenida Revolución. The exterior still has some midcentury retro flair, but inside, Nook is all modern, clean, and minimalist. There's exposed brick, a mural by artist Alonso Delgadillo, and maps depicting the border region. Rooms are almost austere. Think clean lines, muted colors, original artwork, and skylights in some rooms. What Nook lacks in its room decor, it more than makes up for with Elvira, the hotel's onsite restaurant and cocktail bar. You can snack on salads, a cubano, and fried pickles, but the beverage menu is lengthier, with classics (gin and tonic, negroni), mezcal, tequila, and of course mojitos and cuba libres." - Archana Ram

"__Why did this hotel catch your attention? __ The exterior still has some midcentury retro flair, but inside, Nook is all modern, clean, and minimalist. There's exposed brick, a mural by artist Alonso Delgadillo, maps depicting the border region, and a color palette of sunset and ocean hues to emphasize the Cali-Baja connection. What's the backstory? This corner building was once a hotel in the 1950s but morphed into restaurants and bars over the years. When creative powerhouses Mariel Cuervo and Miguel Marshall—the duo behind the hospitality-retail collective Coyote Projects and projects like Tijuana's Nativo Coffee and Cereus Bar—scooped it up, they brought it back to its original purpose. Now it's a trendy, 17-room boutique option just a block from the city's bustling Avenida Revolución. Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book? There aren't a lot of bells and whistles. Rooms are minimalist, almost austere. Think clean lines, muted colors, original artwork, and skylights in some rooms. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi?Wi-Fi is included in the room rate. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at?What Nook lacks in its room decor, it more than makes up for with Elvira, the hotel's onsite restaurant and cocktail bar—named after and inspired by Michelle Pfeiffer's character in "Scarface." It's replete with 80s-Miami tropical vibes in the form of blush pink walls, gilded accents, blue velvet chairs, and a hot pink neon sign reading "Not Your Baby," a nod to Pfeiffer's line from the movie. Elvira skews more bar than restaurant. You can snack on salads, a cubano, and fried pickles, but the beverage menu is lengthier, with classics (gin and tonic, negroni), mezcal, tequila, and of course mojitos and cuba libres. And the service?Stays are pretty seamless here. What type of travelers will you find here?Lots of design-savvy, Instagram-loving cool kids from Tijuana, San Diego, and L.A. What about the neighborhood? What else is around here?Nook is just one block from Tijuana's main thoroughfare, Avenida Revolución, where you'll find a mix of hip bars and coffee shops, as well as the (sigh) cheesy souvenir shops targeting Americans. You can easily avoid all that with other nearby delights, including delicious cheap sandwiches at Tortas Chapultepec, the Colectivo 9 food court, and rooftop cocktails at Cine Tonalá. Is there anything you'd change?Maybe spruce up the rooms a little. Bottom line: Worth it?For the lobby, restaurant, and central location—yes, yes, and yes." - Archana Ram

I stayed here to see a punk show at Black Box nearby. Nice little hip hotel. I stayed in a queen bed room, it was nice with working AC, no windows just a skylight. The all female staff are very nice and I felt safer staying there. Free breakfast at the bar in the morning, not sure if the bar opens I didn't ask. Also be sure to bring cash deposit for the key, 25 dollars or 500 pesos. Thank you!

This message is for Kristi the manager of the hotel with whom I was speaking last night. When we hung up the line your front desk employee refused to make the phone available only saying you have to have a deposit or leave. If you rememer we we going to call the underlying provider, Booking.com or Expedia together to see if we could transfer the $70 agoda cash that was used to book the reservation at your hotel, which we ended up not using. I would urge you to work with your underlying provider to disclose all fees and deposits on the quotes that state all inclusive.

When you make a reservation online it gives you the option to put the time you’ll be arriving. The day of my reservation they called me and asked what time will I arrive, I let the receptionist know and there was no problem, but as my time was approaching I called to let them know I’ll be running late and the night receptionist told me I had said a different time and was being condescending. She told me they never really allow people to check in late, but the website gives you options… which seems pointless if they’re going to get upset. I will say the rooms are very private and quiet. The floors were a little dusty so was the headboard. Other than that I would recommend this place to stay for a night or two.

I recently stayed at INTJ Hotel in Tijuana, and it was quite disappointing. While the location is convenient, close to nightlife and food options, the hotel's overall quality was lacking. The staff were rude and unprofessional, and they charge extra for visitors even if they stay for just an hour, which is unacceptable.||The room was tiny and had an overpowering camphor smell. The water pressure was very low, and hot water was intermittent, adding to the inconvenience. Breakfast was minimal, offering only milk, orange juice, cereal, and sweet breads.||INTJ Hotel feels more like a budget inn and is only suitable if you're on a very tight budget. The downsides, unfortunately, outweigh the benefits of the location.

theres not always warm water, theres only 1 good room in the hotel. all other ones have no windows. service is not great they treat you as if they were doing u a a favor for staying there. internet is oversaturated all the time. location is not bad but its not on the main st, so there tends to be a lot of street people sleeping right outside the hotel on the floor and benches. i've literally stepped on feces before. not kidding.

Now called the INTJ Hotel.||Calling Tijuana a border town, yes, it is on the border but it’s also a city of two million people with it’s own very special culture. Tijuana is a vibrant and vital part of Mexico. I like to visit there because it is so Mexico and so close. ||The INTJ Hotel is one of those gems that makes enjoying Mexico so special. A little Spanish helps but it can be fun just to struggle with people whose English may be no better than your Spanish and the manager speaks excellent English. The staff are all hospitable and helpful. ||I was struck by the coincidence of “In TJ,” They say it has nothing to do with the Briggs-Meyer test but as an INTJ myself I had to try it. It is a beautiful small hotel with very conscious and enjoyable decor, pastels and artwork. The rooms all on the second floor have a view of the street. It was nicely quiet unless I opened the window to enjoy the street sounds. They also have interior rooms with skylights, that are very quiet and still bright. ||In the morning, they serve coffee and juice, pan dulce and cereal in the lobby which feels like a family room. ||It is just a charming place to stay right in downtown Tijuana a block away from Avenida Revolucion but feeling very comfortable, busy outside and very Mexican. There are some excellent cafes, breakfast and lunch restaurants and all the restaurants and night life of downtown Tijuana nearby. . ||I had a great stay in a beautiful and comfortable little hotel, right in the center of town. They are reasonably priced and it’s just a great place to stay.

Located few blocks off revolution st right at the corner. 24-7 front desk, controlled entrance/exit controlled by receptionist. Safe as it comes. Room is one flight of stairs above. My room was smaller than standard US room but had all necessary items. No issue with plumbing and has warm water. No windows except for sky dome thing. Nothing extraordinary. Probably stay little closer to the strip next time though.

Perfect location next to all the fun streets but be warned that you will hear some noises into the night; not enough to wake you up but if you are slightly awake you will hear them. There was no water flowing in the room and we had to call maintenance. They fixed it in about 30 minutes but wasn't fun to wait around considering we were only here for the night and wanted to get out. The staff is nice; they do prefer deposits in cash (USD works). Would happily stay here again if we visit.
