Yelp
Inverleith Park really is breathtaking with its huge pond and birds and trees and grass and benches to sit and admire the whole spectacle. With a panoramic view of Edinburgh castle in the distance and St Giles cathedral among other things, it's a sight to behold. The park is great for children too with a play park and a wetland where you will find a whole host of birds. I especially loved the sundial garden too. The only drawback is I wish there were toilets so I didn't have to cut my visit short but apart from that, Inverleith Park is well worth a visit.

Yelp
Believe it or not, I don't have a musical quote or jazz hands to add to this update. I know, i'm getting lazy in my old Yelp age... but really, who can one up Julie Andrews? No one can. That's science. So if all the previous sing-song moments still ring true, why the update? Well, we're doing a little Yelp challenge that called for my favourite spot "with a view". Sounds easy enough, but Edinburgh is one of those places that has a spectacular view pretty much anywhere you turn... so narrowing it down to a favourite? Big decision. I stopped and thought of where I've seen the most spectacular things in the last year and a half, and Inverleith Park found itself at the top of the list. Besides being a lovely park in its own right, as Nicola C said, it's probably one of the best (and less crowded) viewpoints to fireworks at the castle. With Hogmanay, festival season, Burns night, etc etc etc... that makes for many an occasion to watch fireworks throughout the year and I echo the sentiment: you can't ask for a better spot to take in the festivities. So I previously loved Inverleith Park for its everyday amenities, but as it turns out, it also tops my list of memorable moments. That's makes it truly one darn wonderful park.

Yelp
I love this park. Like, I'm not sure what else I can really say. If you're in Stockbridge, go to the park. If you're not in Stockbridge, come over and check out this park. There's usually something going on most eeekends (foodies festival, anyone?) otherwise its a lovely place to just bring the family and have a picnic, chill out, go for a run, have a barbeque... The list goes on and on. On a nice day I'll come with my partner and just sit atop the hill and stare at the skyline of Edinburgh (which, by the way, is stunning). Come and check out this park. It's less than a five minute walk from the main Street of Stockbridge and adjacent to the botanic gardens, so you can't say there's nothing to do here.

Yelp
There is only one park in Edinburgh that can even come close to boasting about being on a par with the Meadows and it is this park that is able to make the bold statement. In some ways, though only by having fixed goals, allotments and a bit more peace and quiet, it even manages to beat the Meadows. The parks itself covers a large amount of space offering football goals, rugby posts, tennis courts, cricket greens and a bowling green. Being such a large park it manages to accommodate all of these with ease leaving plenty of extra space for those willing to take up its kind offer of a place to sit and let the world go by. The park forms a bit of a hub for the surrounding community and area with the help of the neighbouring Royal Botanic Gardens and some allotments. If I could chose any part of Edinburgh to live in I'd probably live near here largely due to this park.

Yelp
Inverleith Park is really very lovely, and I feel lucky to live so nearby. It's just perfect for a leisurely walk or jogging session and there's a whole host of lovely businesses surrounding the park. But the real reason I was prompted to write this review is that as the new year begins at midnight on 31st December, Inverleith Park must surely have the best view of the firework display at the castle! This was my first year as a resident of Edinburgh and I felt real community spirit walking down with the hundreds of others who were going to see the display. As it approached midnight, the castle changed colour, counting down from 10. And then, we were treated to an amazing show. And the really nice part was that there was an accompanying firework display in the park, just across the water. It's lovely that we got our own wee party in the park, whilst the huge, roaring castle scene went on in the distance. A lovely, lovely park. And a must-see on Hogmanay!

Yelp
I tend to spend more time in the Meadows but I think that Inverleith Park has more to offer, it's right next to the Botanics and has a pond. It also doesn't get overcrowded like the meadows do on a sunny day. The little hill by the pond is a great place to relax on a sunny day and has magnificent views over the castle and the old town. Around £25.00 will get you a little remote controlled boat from Maplin on Dalry Rd or Wonderland on Lothian Road and you can have fun racing it accross the pond. It's definately worth making the trip accross the city.

Yelp
Inverleith Park is really pretty nice, and I'm here most Thursdays to take part in a boot camp class. It's clearly a very popular area for fitness, as I see so many joggers and cyclists zooming past us as we pant our way through countless burpees, not to mention all the friendly doggies out for their evening walk, and frankly when the setting is so nice who wouldn't be inspired to put on their trainers and go for a run? At Hogmanay the park is the ideal place to watch the fireworks as they burst above the castle, and there's a really lovely convivial atmosphere as everyone gathers round, bottle of bubble in hand, wishing each other a happy new year. I'd say it's definitely one of the best, if not the best, park in Edinburgh and I'm jealous of everyone who lives near enough to make good use of it!

Yelp
Spent the day yesterday at the foodies festival@ inverleith park. This is a 3 day event , fri -sun which is now in its 10th year and is on the 1st weekend of the Edinburgh festival. What a great day, with food and baking tasters and drink samples. All we need is sunshine and it's a perfect day out. It's open air and on grass so be sure to bring something to sit on for your picnic. Great family day out

Yelp
This park on the north side of the city is a good choice if you want to get away from the hustle and bussle of the meadows or Princes street gardens. The park is divided in to 4 quadrants, one being taken up by allotments, another by sport fields which seem to get busy over the weekend. Despite this there's still lots of green space to throw a frisbee, fly a kite or walk the dog. Each part is lined by old trees which adds to the character and charm of the park. Talking about dog walking, this is probably one of the nicest parks to walk the old pooch as they'll be in good company, the park is almost always full of friendly dogs. There's a lovely swan pond which freezes over in the winter, which makes the whole place look quite magical. The view is something to write home about, it's the perfect place to look right over the centre of the city, and it's a great view point when ever there's fireworks over the castle. Down a star as I don't think there are enough benches, especially ones which aren't shaded by the trees and in the summer BBQ burns are apparent pretty much everywhere. Edinburgh council should provide bricks as they do in the meadows. Do yourself a favour and give this one a try I'm sure you'll love it.

Yelp
My first visit here was with a two year old in tow. A wet and windy day, a pond with ducks and swans and some obsessive guys racing little boats, complete with rescue crafts. It was cold and muddy but strangely charming and a good hour was spent discussing duck families, whilst getting covered in mud from toddler wellies when legs were too weary to continue to run around the pond following the ducks. Subsequent visits have been on lovely summer days and minus the rain, mud and the toddler (not mine). I like The Meadows but its just seems so big and busy whereas I often wander down to Inverleith park as it seems smaller despite its size and I can still have my own little patch of grass, to daydream the afternoon away after I've wandered around Stockbridge. The views over the city are fab - I like finding a sunny spot on the hill by the pond. The boat racing can be a bit noisy if you are looking for complete peace and quiet but can also be quite amusing watching the crashes and the rescue boat recovering casualties from the race. I have to admit, I love Stockbridge and on a sunny day, Inverleith Park is usually my first choice for spending a few relaxing hours.

Yelp
A gorgeous park that's always full of people playing all kinds of sport including football cricket and rugby. There's also a basketball court and tennis courts. You can also walk around the duck pond. A really nice place for a walk in the evening!

Yelp
This is a stunning park with lots of areas to explore. The duck pond is fantastic and many a sunny afternoon can be spent sittting here. There is also a lovely, well maintained play park (with the all important benches for the adults!) which my kids enjoy for an hour or so. If you have young children, a visit to the Botanical Gardens followed by a picnic and play over the road in Inverleith park is an excellent, almost free day out! Highly recommended.

Yelp
Great park. Terrible lighting at night. Good for the fireworks with lovely views of the castle.

Yelp
If you live in the area of Botanical Gardens why not try out what Inverleith Park has to offer. Just across the street from the main (western) entrance to the Botanical Garden and open all day. It has basketball courts, a couple of rugby and football pitches (great place to get your mates to play a match or two during the weekend) and many many space for a family or group of friends to have a picnic on the grass. Next to the main part of the park is a big pond where you can feed the ducks and swans or you can play with your small powerboats (as locals often do). The park itself is based close to the city center. Accesed by car (lots of parking space on 3 streets around it) or by bus (nr8 - but you'd have to walk through the Botanical Gardens eastern entrance)

Yelp
Inverleith Park is a lovely park with lots of open spaces for picnics, sunbathing, dog walking or just letting the kids run wild! It also has a lovely play park which is clean and has plenty of equipment to keep the kids entertained. The park also has a duck pond which is worth a visit.

Yelp
i'm a big fan of green spaces in edinburgh! they're good for BBQs in the summer, running all the paths any time of the year, and inverleith is a great place to watch the fireworks for the end of the festival :) they even put up a big screen facing the castle so you can see and hear the concert in the gardens while watching the fireworks! definitely a popular place to go with those who live nearby, instead of making the trek to a very busy princes street! in addition to all that what i really love about this park is that there is a pond which has ducks and swans in it!! being able ot stroll past on a nice day brings back memories of childhood and going to feed the ducks with my mum and sister :) so nostalgia makes this one of my favourite parks in edinburgh!!

Yelp
Inverleith Park is a massive park situated next to the botanic gardens. It's really popular with families, joggers, people playing sports and those of us who just like to bask in the sun on the rare occasion it puts its hat on. The spot by the pond is particularly nice with a few of the city skyline beyond the ducks and swans. Take a blanket, your ipod and enjoy (disclaimer- weather permitting).

Yelp
With the best duck pond in Edinburgh and fantastic views of the castle, this large park in Stockbridge is a great place to spend some time. It's right opposite the botanics and the play area is great.

Qype User (semdav…)

Yelp
There's a great variety of areas in this park. Try the sundial garden for secluded lawns screened by trees and lots of good planting. Also the lake where the boats sail has recently had a new reed area with boardwalks added. After dark the bats fly low over the lake catching flies, it's a great place for a romantic stroll, if you're not scared by bats, that is

Yelp
Despite having only three courts, it's often easier to get a game of tennis in Inverleith park than the sixteen court facility at the meadows. The courts are up to the same standard but it is always free to play as they cannot be reserved. You can find the courts next to the West Gate of the Botanical Gardens.

Yelp
It is one of the loveliest parks in Stockbridge, just opposite the Botanical gardens and Fettes college. One of the most beautiful spots to be early in the morning to meet the sunrise. The pond inside is full of friendly swans and ducks. The park is often visited by dog owners and their pets. Last year some students from our summer school at Fettes went their to play games in the park grounds and had an accident - one of the dogs tried to attack a student. The group leader reacted instantly. There was no harm or injury cause but the incident made us think that it is not a safe place for children.

Yelp
great for walking the dog, has lots of places to find, the swans are a bit dodgy tho so stay away. lots of friendly people walking and a small park for the kids to play in.
