Lovely place to spend an hour or two as part of a trip to Inverness. Quiet location right in the centre of the city with a wide range of exhibits from natural history to ancient pottery finds. Easy to get to, close to the river. Well worth a visit.

This small regional museum features natural, ancient and modern history. On display are artefacts used by humans who have inhabited the area since 6500 BCE. There are plenty of well-written and informative story boards to assist our understanding of this dynamic environment. Highly recommend a visit 👍👍👍

If you fancy a quick bit of Scottish history for free then this museum would be great for you - not a massive museum but plenty to see and read across a wide variety of time periods. The art gallery was quite small and unimpressive but I'm sure somebody likes it.

We needed to kill some time so decided to pay a visit to the museum and it was amazing! Its not often you find a museum that focuses solely on the UK and it was wonderful to have a full Scottish history way back to the creation of the land. I loved seeing all the old stone carvings and natural history displays of Scottish wildlife especially as we could point out what we had seen during our holiday. It’s free to enter and they ask for donations, well worth a visit. Plus there is a cafe but we had already eaten.

A fascinating journey through Highland history and culture. The exhibits are well-curated and cover everything from geology to the Jacobites. The free entry and friendly staff make it a must-see for anyone visiting Inverness. A real gem!

What a gem! I thought the exhibits were thoughtfully laid out. I went to get a better overview of Scottish Highlands history. I wish I had had more time to spend there! When I left I had a better sense of what to Google and the questions I need to ask to learn more about this amazing area!!! I learnt so much in the limited time I had. Thank you!!!

Incredible museum and gallery. Exquisite artefacts, insightful information and engaging curation. Well, well worth a visit. It would be great to see the Dunrobin artefacts respectfully displayed here for the worth of the nation 😉

We had just ridden bikes from Oban to Inverness so the history pulled together a lot of fragments we had just lived. I enjoyed the sort of stream of consciousness feeling rather than a regimented, force fed history lesson. The gallery was displaying furniture and wooden art made from Ash dieback trees. It meant a lot, I have been swinging ash axe handles most of my life that likely came from these forests. Such beauty!
