This is a budget hotel. My first impression was it is dodgy, and that wasn’t only me. I was with a small group from the U.S. there in early December for a Christmas Market tour. The hotel is on a gray street with trams running both directions. The street consists of bodegas, nail salons, and the like. But across the street is a local chain coffee and pastry shop, which was just okay. I found a sewing notion shop, which don’t exist in the U.S., on the next corner. That was a nice surprise. ||As I write, caustic AC/DC music plays too loudly overhead in the small lobby. Music in lobby is horrid especially when in town for Christmas. There is a lounge just behind elevators located in front of check-in, with obnoxious large screen TV being watched by family group. The breakfast room is downstairs in a large room. The food seemed good enough. A lot of selections.||I will first mention the PROS of INX Design hotel: Only 15 minutes walk to Krakow Old Town with a tram that goes there across the street, three stops, 4 zloty. The Jewish Cemetery is on the corner. There’s an upscale mall (galleria) very close by walking, with pastry shops and restaurants. The 2nd pro is that there is a towel warming rack in the bathroom. And shower is good. The bathrooms were up to standard, in other words. But the towels were tattered in some cases. I liked that there was a large roof covering entrance with two bistro tables and chairs during the day outside hotel bar. (It was rainy.) The smallish but cozy bar had a separate entrance besides being accessible from the lobby. They were serving mulled wine, which was appreciated during Christmastime. ||The “design” in INX Design seems well suited to British holiday makers. There is an Irish pub and at least one other pub right around the corner, with large-screen TVs playing English football games. And an outdoor food court with good, cheap food on same Side Street right beside hotel. Open late. (Good after-consuming-alcohol food.)||Cons: Everything else. The pillows — only 2 — were flaccid and lumpy. The WORST! Like sleeping on cellulite. The rooms were CRAMPED. I don’t know how 2 people could occupy one comfortably. There is barely enough room for one suitcase between wall and bed. Some complained their rooms were too hot for sleeping (and this was a very even-tempered group of well-traveled people.) The front desk staff were LACKADAISICAL, inattentive to the point of being unconcerned with guests. Hard to explain, because they were nice enough but vague. And as mentioned, tattered towels. ||I just didn’t like this hotel from the start. And neither did a few group mates with whom I spoke. The INX Design hotel is serviceable is all I can say. Of the 4 hotels where we stayed, it was easily the least enjoyable.
