Just returned from a 10 night stay at this lovely hotel. We arrived late evening, cases taken to our allocated twin bed room 211, which was fine. Limited storage and over bath shower didn’t thrill, but wasn’t a problem. Good range of toiletries were left in the bathroom, tea/ coffee etc, kettle and fridge. Privacy was slightly limited as a room was on a level with outside seating, but again this wasn’t really a problem- most nights the area was relatively quiet.|Breakfast is really good- lots of choice, fresh fruit, yogurts, juices, hot buffet and the best omelettes ever made to order. Lovely staff, always smiling. |The view from our bedroom / balcony was spectacular- the hotel is in a great location, overlooking the pebbly beach and small harbour. The pool area is lovely, with some of the best sun-beds ever. Fresh towels are available each morning, delivered at 9.30, by the pool bar, with the most accommodating staff. Food looked good, although we didn’t actually sample it.|We did eat a couple of times during the evening- great menu, really good food and excellent service.|We did a couple of trips which we arranged in Sami- it’s about a 20 minute walk along the sea front. Lovely little town with an abundance of excellent tavernas and restaurants. We also found food at the restaurant in the square near the hotel excellent, probably my favourite; the setting at the taverna along from the hotel was beautiful and we enjoyed the food. Mixed comments about staff friendliness from some folk, which we didn’t experience.|Standout staff included the lovely Alexandra and her colleague, George on reception, Fanya at the main bar, and Sonia- who was around both mornings and evenings. |I would definitely return to this lovely hotel- a couple of suggestions that could improve include , updating the bathrooms, and pool access. The manager has agreed that guests from his brothers hotel, the Athena, can access the pool, however other guests from other hotels/ apartments also decided they too could share the facilities, and openly discussed this- maybe needs key fob access? That said sun bed availability wasn’t really an issue.|This was my first visit to Kefalonia, I’m sure it won’t be the last. Kefalonia is relatively unspoilt with so many lovely places to visit. Ionian Emerald is a great hotel and one I would love to return to.
