The Ionian Emerald Resort has been our best hotel and holiday experience to date. Everything about this hotel was fantastic from our room, the service, the meals and the staff. It is in a stunning location with fantastic views. All of the staff were wonderful and the food was excellent. Our room and indeed all of the facilities were spotless. The location was ideal in that it was a great base to explore the main tourist destinations on the island. It is a pleasant stroll into Sami which takes you along the beach and takes about 20 mins at a very gentle pace to take in the views. |If we could offer one small suggestion it would be to give preference to the facilities for the Ionian Emerald guests because they can be used by guests from the sister hotel the Athina which is across the road. There were occasions when towels were being placed on sunbeds from Athina guests 1st thing in the morning and they weren't being used until later in the day. If you are paying a premium you expect to be able to make full use of all of the facilities. We could imagine that this could be more of an issue in the busier months. That said we would recommend this hotel.

We visited The Ionian Emerald Hotel in September and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very close to the sea and the outlook is just beautiful. The pool area is very well cared for and there were always sunbeds available. Food and drink was available all day til into the evening at the pool bar and staff there were great. There were also sunbeds and shades on the pebbly beach for hotel guests.|The bedroom was very comfortable, the only downside being the rather old fashioned bathrooms which have been mentioned in other reviews. They definitely need attention but contained everything you needed.|Staff everywhere in the hotel were very pleasant and helpful. When we reported a couple of things which needed attention, it was dealt with immediately. We booked a car through the hotel and the whole process was extremely smooth and easy.|Breakfast was really good. We ate dinner in the restaurant twice. Outside on the terrace was nice but the restaurant and bar inside really lack atmosphere. Food was good with plenty of choice. The walk to Sami to other restaurants can feel a little long. It took us about 25/30 mins depending on how far in you go. Overall, a really good hotel.

Second time at this hotel. The staff are lovely, rooms clean and spacious, lots of choice for breakfast. Pool bar and staff are very good as is the food served there. Great location by the beach and a short walk to tavernas in Karavomylos, absolutely recommend the bakery there too 100%. Short walk into Sami for other great restaurants by the harbour.Had a room with splash pool which was used daily to cool off and it was pleasant to relax on our own patio.

Just returned from a 10 night stay at this lovely hotel. We arrived late evening, cases taken to our allocated twin bed room 211, which was fine. Limited storage and over bath shower didn’t thrill, but wasn’t a problem. Good range of toiletries were left in the bathroom, tea/ coffee etc, kettle and fridge. Privacy was slightly limited as a room was on a level with outside seating, but again this wasn’t really a problem- most nights the area was relatively quiet.|Breakfast is really good- lots of choice, fresh fruit, yogurts, juices, hot buffet and the best omelettes ever made to order. Lovely staff, always smiling. |The view from our bedroom / balcony was spectacular- the hotel is in a great location, overlooking the pebbly beach and small harbour. The pool area is lovely, with some of the best sun-beds ever. Fresh towels are available each morning, delivered at 9.30, by the pool bar, with the most accommodating staff. Food looked good, although we didn’t actually sample it.|We did eat a couple of times during the evening- great menu, really good food and excellent service.|We did a couple of trips which we arranged in Sami- it’s about a 20 minute walk along the sea front. Lovely little town with an abundance of excellent tavernas and restaurants. We also found food at the restaurant in the square near the hotel excellent, probably my favourite; the setting at the taverna along from the hotel was beautiful and we enjoyed the food. Mixed comments about staff friendliness from some folk, which we didn’t experience.|Standout staff included the lovely Alexandra and her colleague, George on reception, Fanya at the main bar, and Sonia- who was around both mornings and evenings. |I would definitely return to this lovely hotel- a couple of suggestions that could improve include , updating the bathrooms, and pool access. The manager has agreed that guests from his brothers hotel, the Athena, can access the pool, however other guests from other hotels/ apartments also decided they too could share the facilities, and openly discussed this- maybe needs key fob access? That said sun bed availability wasn’t really an issue.|This was my first visit to Kefalonia, I’m sure it won’t be the last. Kefalonia is relatively unspoilt with so many lovely places to visit. Ionian Emerald is a great hotel and one I would love to return to.

We enjoyed our 10 days in this hotel.|Although I would say it is more a 4× than 5×.|We had a superior room with a great view over looking the pool and sea. |Like another reviewer We had no safe in our room ,one was brought on request but not fixed to the wall!!!.|The biggest draw back is that guest from the next door 3× hotel use all the hotel amenities , and can be seen placing towels on Sun beds particularly on the beach early morning. Makes one wonder why are we paying 5× prices when next door residents are just walking in.|20 mins walk into Sami where there are numerous bars and restaurants.

Very nice hotel, rooms spotless, staff all really pleasant pool area has plenty of beds, breakfast had plenty of choice. The only downside for us was its in a very, very quiet area, with only a couple of restaurants nearby. Dining in at night for us wasn't an option as the dining area is not vey atmospheric, but the menu, if you like to eat in looked ok. Sami can be reached along the beach with a 15 min walk with plenty of tavernas but its not the prettiest of places, we opted to drive to Efimia which has more old world charm.

The Ionian Emerald Resort hotel is situated in a very pretty part of the coastline with beautiful views. There is a lovely pool, pool bar which serves snacks at lunchtime, and the breakfast area is good with excellent breakfasts. I love swimming in the sea, and was very pleased with the private beach, small but always quiet. Pebbly, but the sea is lovely. The service in the hotel is superb. We asked to move rooms after the first night because the shower over the bath was difficult to use. We were moved without any problem to a room with shower. Unfortunately the air conditioning failed later in the week, and we had to move again for 1 night. This room had a bathroom with a frosted glass partition instead of a wall. I did not like that! The whole bedroom is illuminated at night if someone needs to go! All the bathrooms seem to have frosted glass doors. Why?? |Otherwise, the hotel is pretty good and I would go back as long as I could have a decent bathroom!|The location is good too. A 15 minute walk into Sami. Loads of lovely tavernas. Everyone is extremely helpful and the service always excellent. Food and wine great!
