We chose this restaurant based on the many positive reviews, hoping for an exceptional fine dining experience. Unfortunately, the reality fell short of our expectations. Many of the dishes that should have come from fresh ingredients were frozen products. The service also lacked attentiveness. Rather than offering a welcoming, customer-focused approach, the staff felt more like messengers delivering plates. We were told to “choose any table” upon arrival, with little engagement or interest from the main waiter. As for the food: the mussels were bland and simply steamed without seasoning, the shrimp pasta was of average quality with noticeably small shrimp (a disappointment compared to older reviews mentioning large prawns), and the chicken fillet was underwhelming—neither juicy nor well-seasoned. We chose indoor seating to avoid smokers, but this assumption proved wrong, as smoke still disrupted the atmosphere. Waiters allowed smoking insight. In summary, if you are seeking a true seafood restaurant offering fresh, high-quality dishes and fine dining experience, you may want to explore other options. This place might be suitable only if you’re looking for a casual spot with a pleasant view and don’t mind compromising on food quality and service. For us, it was a disappointing visit.

First impression wasn't great because no one welcomed us and invited us to take a seat, we had to catch a waiter and ask if we can enter. But after that we had a great time. We were already full after starters and then the heavy artillery arrived which included probably the best tasting shrimp we've ever tried (in seafood linguine). We asked to get the leftovers packed for later and then they gave us complimentary desserts, fruit and Raki. Definitely recommended.

One of the most beautiful spots to eat in Heraklion — seriously, the setting is stunning and absolutely worth a visit. The servers are fast and efficient, keeping things moving even in the midst of a slightly chaotic atmosphere. The food was beautifully presented and overall delicious. My only critique was the octopus, which was just a touch overcooked. Still, a memorable meal in a gorgeous location. I’d definitely return.

It was a busy Sunday night and this restaurant was recommended to us. I thought it’ll take a while to get our food, however it came quickly. We had Greek salad, mussels, fish and squid. All were nice, however the mussels were my favourite. We also got free dessert and some ouzo which was very generous. Staff were very nice too.

We got a recommendation from our friend so we visited it for a dinner. Great place near the sea, port, fortress but especially excellent was fish menu.. Ordered mussels, home made tzatziky, sardines, sea bream, meat balls and everything was great. Quick and friendly servis. If every restaurants was like this, the world would be better place. Thank you.

Great place with very friendly staff. The seafood and shrimp linguine were delicious. The grilled vegetables starter was probably too much on top of the very copious pasta dish but you can’t be in Crete without having vegetables can you? Place to be recommended for the outdoor sitting as well as indoor which seems quite fancy despite not having the view the outdoor one will gift you with.

We had an incredible meal at Ippokampos in Crete. The seafood linguine, fish linguine, fish with potato salad, and octopus were all absolutely delicious. Every dish was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. To top it off, we were treated to a free dessert, which was such a lovely touch. The staff were warm, welcoming, and made the whole experience even more special. Highly recommend!

Visiting Heraklion often, it is one of the seafood taverns that I come back to regularly. The food is tasty and the staff is always friendly and happy to assist with anything. However, I have to say that the quality has slightly decreased compared to earlier years, maybe due to the increased number of customers.
