Veli Bej has been a favorite of ours over the years. In the past we would drop the kids off at school on Friday mornings and head there and have the place pretty much to ourselves.
Sadly, it is not like this today and probably is part of a more complex Budapest Spa story.
The spas have become very popular with tourists - not necessarily a bad thing, but this seems to crowd and price out locals.
So mini rant over, back VBej.
A nice enough spa, clean and pleasant renovation of an original Turkish bath. Not quite big enough for their customer limit and would benefit from another sauna, Jacuzzi and both steam rooms working at peak times.
For not much more money, try Lukacs, not so modern, perhaps a quaint retro vibe, but for me, a better spa experience.
Rudas is the nicest architecture and has a pool and additional spa area, but you pay for it and at busy times may have to queue.
There is another spa under renovation which will help the pressure on them and another, already renovated but not open for some “legal dispute”.
So 2026 may give more choices.
