IRIS - a piercing studio

I got a lip piercing here a few months ago, and it was a wonderful, professional (but still hella fun) experience. I honestly wish this was something like hair or nails so I had an excuse to come back regularly! Juice was an absolute gem and always makes me feel welcome, and Maddie pierced me quick, comfortably, and was super friendly and helpful. Not to mention the online booking/text process makes everything smoooooooth. I just got back from downsizing my piercing a few days ago, and it's perfect! Highly, highly recommend if you're looking to get pierced!

I’ve been coming to this studio for years and have always had such wonderful experiences with the staff here. They are kind and welcoming from the start. Always happy to help with jewelry selection and placement, which is a big help if you’re as indecisive as I can be. But truthfully, I go to this studio specifically to see Oscar. I cannot praise his gentle hand and kind demeanor enough. I’ve had at least 5 piercings done by him and his commitment to the comfort of his clients shows how much he truly cares. He is an exceptional piercer and human being. I am so happy to have found the lovely team here and will always return for any future piercing needs. (Pictured below is my latest edition)

got my third lobe piercing with Maddie and was in the front with Juice. literally the sweetest two people ever!! we got into such good conversation and it felt like a friendship. i had a wonderful experience and i can tell that these two care a lot about your wellbeing!! i recommend 100%. Maddie made me feel so safe for the entire procedure and Juice was so considerate and kind while we were waiting in the front. they also made room for 2 of our friends without appointments!

Juice and Oscar made my first appointment at Iris feel like a party!! Their energy is warm and welcoming, and the shop is spotless with a beautiful collection. Juice made the jewelry selection process so fun and laid-back and curated the perfect combination of pieces, then Oscar did three virtually painless lobe piercings for me and switched out my nose hoop. They create a space that’s both professional and perfectly relaxed. Thrilled to have found them and highly recommend!!

I got my labret piercing done elsewhere 2 months ago. It was my first body piercing and I was given very little guidance and no follow up. The jewelry I replaced the original with was too small and caused irritation and frustration. I found IRIS among the Association of Professional Piercers. The showroom is sleek. The jewelry gorgeous. The back office clean. And the people!!! The moment I walked in, the receptionist/greeter (can't remember her name) was friendly and funny. I was immediately put at ease. Maddie was kind, professional, and knowledgeable! She gave me the guidance and advice I desperately needed. She sized me appropriately. I was comfortable which is huge for me. I will 1000% be coming back for jewelry and, when I'm ready, my second piercing.

I enjoyed my experiences coming in to purchase and get service done. It's a clean shop & has patient staff- came for nose piercings and extra earrings. Great quality!

Salesperson was not great... she didn't seem interested in being much help, to be honest. But I was in a bind in that I woke up that morning and found the end of my nostril piercing had disappeared, needed a new end quick since I can't find the old jewelry I used, and this was the closest option--so with little time to spare, I came to IRIS. They don't actually have a really large collection, but they do have some that go beyond colored CZ "starter jewelry" and that's what I needed. The dude who put it in was nice though. If you're looking for a piercing and not just here to shop for jewelry, you'll need to make an appointment. Parking is street only on Lincoln (using the parking meter) or the side streets, so it'll depend upon when you're visiting whether parking will be a pain.

I had Omar and Juice do my septum with my bestie also getting the same piercing. I was never rushed, I laughed a lot and was given ample time to compare metal colors. When it was time to sit down and get pierced Omar was incredibly sweet and cool saying, "it's totally normal to be nervous!" And making me and my friend feel very safe. Thaw prices are crazy gig but they're high everywhere in the city and this is one of the few places that will put in hoops instead of barbells for septum piercings.

I just brought my daughter to Iris for the second time. As expected, it was a phenomenal experience. After how positive it was during her first piercing there, we have sent a number of family and friends. Everyone says the same thing. The people who work at Iris are kind, well trained, professional and skilled. Today, we brought in an earring that had been broken during a medical procedure. They immediately replaced it and made us feel welcomed and cared for, even though we weren't planning on purchasing anything. I will only do piercings at Iris.

Made an appointment here for an ear styling when I knew I would be visiting from out of town. Upon setting foot in the studio, I immediately felt at ease. Charlotte was super helpful and asked all the right questions to understand the look I was going for. The styling session was collaborative and fun! Kira was my fabulous piercer. She thoroughly walked me through the sterilization for the piercings after I had selected my pieces. She talked me through the whole process and made me feel super comfortable. I had decided on a few lobe piercings and a forward helix in my right ear (see image), and she did an incredible job. The price is up there but I would pay it again. The service and staff makes the experience absolutely worth it!

IRIS has such amazing employees and customer service. They really treat their customers like family and provide great quality services. If anything were to go wrong with the piercings, they respond quickly and provide great care to help you out. I've loved the piercings I've had done their and the jewelry. I can't imagine going anywhere else at this point.

So they sold me a $275 earring for an old helix piercing I had that caused me immense pain and irritation. When I went in for a troubleshooting appointment they informed me that my original piercing "was poorly pierced" and that the earring they sold me was inappropriate for it and that I could buy ANOTHER earring that might make it feel better or they could take it out but that they couldn't offer me an exchange. How absolutely ridiculous why would you willingly sell somebody an earring that you know wouldn't work for a particular piercing? It's ill-intentioned and money hungry. Go to a reputable piercing/body jewelry shop that will advise you on what is actually best for you.

I was once Iris's biggest fan, despite the high price points, their jewelry and environment are top-notch and I'm a believer in quality piercings! Sadly, I have found that this studio is unable to take customer feedback in a meaningful way and has opted to deliver unreasonable bans in the face of mild displeasure on my part. On December 21st I had a 4:30PM appointment. I live in the burbs, so I knew it would take at least an hour and a half to get to my appointment. I left my home around 3, with a GPS confidently saying I'd arrive 5 minutes ahead! By the time I had been on the road for an hour, though, my GPS had quickly changed to show that I'd now be arriving 8 minutes late. Not wanting to panic, I called the shop and they informed me if I was any later than 10 minutes my entire appointment would be canceled (they do have this listed in their agreement terms as well, just to add!). The person I spoke to was matter-of-fact and unsympathetic to my hour in traffic, but I figured I still had those valuable 2 minutes and pressed on ahead! At 4:40, I was showing 7 minutes away still and so I called again, frustrated by traffic and the inflexibility of the piercing studio. The person I spoke to this time spoke over me as I explained the situation, taking a tone that said without saying directly: "didn't you read the fine print, dumbass?" I tried to speak to her, but in the end had to ask "can I talk now?" She relented in at least letting me jewelry shop, but I asked if there was any way for me to still get the piercing quickly if I knew which jewelry I wanted. She waffled on this a bit, and I figured it was the nicest way to say "no" without actually saying it. I ended up arriving at 4:47, not ideal, I'd spent an hour and a half in the car, and felt absolutely gutted. I put on the mask provided, get into the studio, ask one more time, but ultimately accept it's just jewelry shopping today. It's fine, I'm sad, but I decide I'll get the piercing itself elsewhere since I had amped myself up for it! That meant I could spend the next 13 minutes jewelry shopping and find some awesome quality jewelry to substitute out after the piercing healed. Frustrated? Yeah. Unhinged? Absolutely not, haha! The woman helping me shop was also the woman who talked over me on the phone, but we both were at the end of a long day. She offered to reschedule my piercing without having me pay the deposit again, which was kind of her, but after the hellish journey and unpleasant phone calls I declined. "I'm not sure if I want to reschedule right now, I don't feel good about how tonight went" She pushed me for more details, very pleasantly, and I expressed that I felt our conversations had been unpleasant and unprofessional, so I wasn't in a hurry to come back after the drive from hell but still was fine purchasing some jewelry. We ended up being fine, had a back and forth about why I didn't enjoy our conversation, but ultimately I purchased around $200 of jewelry. I love the piece, it's very nice, and we even ended it pleasantly by joking about how I got so many text messages the moment I handed over my phone to use a giftcard I'd been gifted for my purchase. (That's how much I like the place, people buy me giftcards.) Fast forward to today, I got another giftcard for Christmas from a family member. I suck it up, accept that last time wasn't the best, but I do love this place - so I try to book a faux rook appointment. The message? "You have been banned from all Iris Piercing locations." I'm sitting here a little confused and very frustrated again, I don't understand how quickly we went from rescheduling my appointment to now being banned. The inflexibility and inability to take even an iota of criticism makes this location feel... too exclusive for my tastes. I'm interested in putting my money in piercing parlors that are more receptive to their customers, offer a more human approach, and ultimately don't place bans on folks who didn't cause a scene, yell, or even not show up. I expressed mild disappointment in our conversations and now I can't show my face again, which is kinda funny in retrospect considering their business model focuses on inclusivity, people first, and quality. Thankfully, there are so many fantastic piercing studios nearby. I recommend the following in place of Iris Piercing Studio: Chicago Ink Tattoo & Body Piercing: I got my nipples, septum, nostril, and tongue pierced here. Fair prices, good quality, and people focused. Luxe Piercing Boutique: a place for us suburban folks! I got my industrial and belly button done here. Higher prices, unique jewelry, and so great at calming my nerves Identity Body Piercing: I got my nipple jewelry changed out here, it was a fantastic experience with very unique and high-end jewelry options! Find places with people who make you feel comfortable. Iris is more elitist than anything, and sadly it's too obvious for me not to comment on now.

Casual Sunday stroll close to home and when the customer service woman open the door she was very rude and looked me up and down which I was really taken back by. I simply asked a few questions and clarified how appointments worked. Her tone was elitist and her attitude was extremely unfriendly. worst customer service I recall having. I so respect their procedures but the aloofness and shortness was a shock. We are in times of needing kindness, esp. at retail. I say this as a designer and owner of a small business myself. Sad and hurtful.

I absolutely loved my experience at iris. I will not be going anywhere else in the city for my piercings. The environment was safe and warm and the team took their time to make sure I was comfortable. The jewelry selection was incredible and they can work with any budget and find the right look for your face. I absolutely loved Iris and feel incredibly beautiful with my new piercing and jewelry!

Seriously this place is so amazing. They are kind, attentive and don't make me feel like an idiot for never being able to change my own nose ring. I will not go anywhere else!

This place was a fabulous place to get a nose piercing. I was a little nervous and they put me completely at ease. I picked a glorious, expensive piece of sparkly jewelry for a personal celebration reason but also because I'll be stuck with it for 9 months or so while it's healing up, haha The whole process was smooth and easy with just a tiny pinch. I have had my piercing now for about 3 weeks and it's healing very well. I would highly recommend this location for your piercing needs!

I am writing this less than an hour after my appointment because I must shout out to the gals that were sooo AWESOME tonight! Ali, my piercer, was beyond the BOMB-so fun, talented, gentle, informative & we even laughed quite a bit. Char & Juice were awesome in the front of the house, no pressure on purchasing, informative on all the beautiful gems they have. I left beyond pleased, happy & thrilled with my new piercings! Oh and even better...by appt only!!! No rush to get the job done, no sound of the doors constantly opening/closing, other patrons pressuring the piercers, plenty of time to talk about what you want. Just a beautiful one on one experience

I just love this place! My piercer Ali and counterperson Charlotte were so informative, kind, knowledgeable, and professional. I had a piercing done on my nostril at a different shop out of state. After two months, an irritation bump wouldn't leave me alone. My piercing was angry. I did all the saline washes, didn't pick at it, and didn't snag it on anything. It just wouldn't go away. When I went in to Iris for a downsize I explained how much difficulty I had with the piercing process. Ali explained that my piercing was at a harsh angle and went over my options. Knowledge with service is paramount. They advised I take it out to let them bump heal OR we go with a shorter piece of jewelry. They didn't make me feel silly or dumb; just informative. I decided to go with a shorter bar, and not even 24 hours later, the bump is shrinking. This type of service is what we all strive for. Thank you Ali and Charlotte for your professionalism, kindness, know-how and willingness to go the extra mile. I will be coming back without a doubt!

5 years ago I had gotten a triple helix cartilage piercing with 3 screw back earrings. Being a 19-year old collegiate idiot, I had taken my piercings out for a volleyball game during the healing phase (note: don't be an idiot & let your ears heal fully). I managed to get normal earring studs to slide in that you'd usually put in your lobes. And this is how they stayed for 4 years. Fast-forward to this week - I had finally had enough. I bought some fancy over-ear headphones, and I couldn't wear them without the backs of the earrings stabbing my head. I decided to stop into IRIS on a Friday afternoon. I was immediately greeted by 2 young ladies who listened to my story and led me to the earrings I could choose from. Although they were out of the rose gold opal studs I had wanted, I was not deterred and selected another opal. I was then shown the price - keep in mind, you get what you pay for, people.... seriously. I then was led into the piercing room which was comfortable and clean. As the piercer took out my old earrings and cleaned my ears, I had asked for some notice so I could prepare myself for the piercing pain. Laughing, she said she already had one in. The relief I felt at that moment was unreal and I'm still kicking myself for waiting this long to get them re-done. Extremely satisfied and would 100% recommend to anyone looking for piercing revision/new work.

My experience here was fantastic! I came in for a navel piercing and was talked through the process by a friendly and competent team. I felt at ease and supported at all times. The end product came out even BETTER than I was expecting--thank you IRIS!

I had a wonderful experience at Iris! Ali and Juice are both so incredibly kind, fun, and knowledgeable! Juice has a great sense of style and helped me pick out pieces that I am deeply obsessed with. Ali pierced my two helixes (in the same ear) so smoothly I immediately became hooked and can't wait until I can get more piercings done by them :) My helixes are two months old now and are healing well, with barely a hiccup along the way. Iris upholds the highest of piercing practices, and I felt my ear was in the best of hands with Ali.

The staff here were all very professional and friendly. Give the current circumstances with COVID, I was glad to see the staff wearing masks and gloves and sanitizing everything that was touched. This establishment isn't a Claire's or piercing pagoda. Much better with a higher price tag but the experience is worth it. I brought my daughter here to get her ears pierced for the fourth time after Developing an infection from places like Claire's and piercing pagoda. They do not use the typical "gun" method that other places use and they offer high quality materials. Bottom line: if you don't mind spending the MONEY check this place out!

Ali and Juice were amazing! I love that I had a one on one appointment there (got my nose pierced for the 3rd time). They both made me feel so comfortable. Ali educated me on safety and the proper way to keep everything clean. Juice and Ali are the legit sh*t!

When you walk in here you feel like you're in an art gallery; it's set up so beautifully. Until stepping foot in here i didn't realize just how many different and beautiful pieces you can adorn your body with. I walked in to get my daith pierced and was astounded by the beautiful choices they have. That's the beauty of it here, you have so many choices compared to the normal tattoo shop. The girls who helped me out really worked with my budget and made me feel so comfortable and the experience getting pierced was great. They actually sanitize all the pieces they're using right in front of you which gives you that extra comfort. For me it was quick and painless and my healing has been going very well! I plan on coming back to get jewelry for the rest of my piercing and for any more that i want, this will be my spot!

Came in last Thursday to get new Tragus jewelry (after mine fell out while on vacation) and was met with the most friendly staff. I loved the jewelry selection so much I decided to get my nose pierced since I've been talking about getting it done for a few years now. Alex, Kira (the piercer) and another wonderful lady I can't remember her name were so friendly. Funny thing I've been meaning to get to this place for a few years and decided to just do it since I was in the area. They helped me pick out a beautiful piece for my nose, how they clean and keep everything clean and sterile blew me away. Even how they handle aftercare has been wonderful, they give you a text message hotline so that you can get in contact with someone right away if you have any questions. I will be recommending this place to anyone looking to get pierced and needing high end jewelry. Thank you ladies for everything!

I have been looking for a new piercing studio in Chicago to get my navel pierced and found IRIS on yelp. I went in not quite knowing what to expect and the service was incredible! Ali and Juice were both very warm and friendly. They made me feel super comfortable throughout the whole process. The selection of jewelry is amazing and they have a variety of price points. I ended up picking a more expensive white gold piece because it was so beautiful. The entire experience was great! I would definitely recommend IRIS to anyone in the Chicago area looking for a piercer. :)

Got my second lobe, daith, and cartilage piercings here. Went on a Saturday evening so there was a bit of a wait, but it was well worth it. Stephanie (who did the piercing) and the other young lady (who manages the floor, unfortunately I didn't catch her name) were super professional and friendly. They made great recommendations for my earrings and did a great job with the piercing process (my daith hardly hurt!!!). Big shoutout to these ladies, I'm super in love with my piercings and will be back for more in the future :)

I pulled the trigger and got the nose piercing I've been contemplating for the past few years. The ladies were courteous, fun and professional. One of my ears partially closed up and not wearing a earring for a spell. When I called for an appointment they were very pleasant & said if it wasn't closed completely they 'may' not even charge me. I went in and had to wait at least an hour and the piercer guy said it def was closed. Here's the rotten part. I had to buy a pair of studs made outta a certain material that cost quite a bit...$90. This was for only one one hole to be reopened. I asked if I could bring in a 14k or 18k gold stud they could use....but they said no. It's a nice looking place with cute earrings to choose from....but if you're on a budget like I am this place will bleed you dry. To reopen 1 ear for 90 bucks is ridiculous. If you've got the money go for it. I sure can't and wouldn't even shell out that amount even 'if' I could afford it.

Iris is great! Maddie had pierced me a few times this year (upper lobes and a cartilage helix piercing). She is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and great at her craft. Charlotte has been great at the front of house to help with choosing jewelry and chat while I was waiting to get pierced or waiting for my jewelry change. Iris is worth every penny.

Before bringing my 5yo daughter in to get her ears pierced I did quite a bit of reading about the alternatives available for piercing. While I had my own ears done with a gun at the mall when I was little, I'd determined that this was not the best course for my daughter. Having decided that, I wasn't sure where to bring her that was kid friendly. Because let's be honest, most piercing places aren't. Iris was a breath of fresh air. The decor in the shop area is classic, even elegant, like a jewelry studio. The piercing room in the back is as sparkling clean and sterile as a doctor's office. Jaymes dealt with my 5yo's anxiety with ease and made her feel very comfortable. She even claims that it didn't hurt, but I don't believe her ;) I'd recommend Jaymes to any mom out there who is looking for a professional who will handle their kid's piercing with care.

I first became familiar with the IRIS stores back in 2013 when I was staying in Denver, CO. I was obsessed with the excellent service, spotlessly clean shop, detailed care instructions, and beautiful jewelry. I had always kept an eye out for what the company/brand had been up to, so when I realized they opened a Chicago store, I was beyond excited. My first trip in, I was greeted by all of the pros of the Denver shop but with a completely different aesthetic: chandeliers, stand alone jewelry counters, pictures of models with unique pieces on, and Kendrick playing in the background. I was both impressed by the vibe but even more impressed by Jaymes. Jaymes is absolutely fantastic; attentive to what you're looking for, offering creative solutions while being respectful of your budget. He is an excellent piercer and takes a lot of care to ensure you have the best result. Jaymes makes shopping for jewelry an experience "So what type of pieces are you drawn to?" or "I think you'll really like this, it reflects your style." versus what I've experienced in a lot of stores which is "Okay you want this piercing. Sit over there and fill out these forms." My original trip was just to get a longer bar for a hard to heal piercing, but now I'm planning my whole wedding jewelry look. The selection is unique and eye catching. I've ordered custom jewelry that I constantly get complements on. If you're looking for beautiful unique pieces, guidance on getting a curated ear, or excellent, respectful service, go to IRIS.

This is honestly the best place in the city, hands down. I initially went for new jewelry - I had my piercings done at an area tattoo parlor. The selection of jewelry is second to none....very high quality and really beautiful. While there, Jaymes looked at the piercings and notice that one seemed to be inflamed. Apparently it had been put in at an angle that made it difficult to heal. He game me several things to try to get it to heal. I really appreciated him taking that time. Impressed, I went back to have 2 additional piercings, this time at Iris. Jaymes was again great! Made me feel at ease, the piercings were quick and relatively painless. And the efforts he and the staff take to make sure you know everything is sterilized, to advise on aftercare, and to pick appropriate jewelry.....let's just say, there's nowhere else to go in the city. If you want your piercings done and done right, this is your place!

I've been to a lot of piercing and tattoo places and this is hands down the best place to go to if your looking for an experience that has something more than just a piercing to offer. The hospitality was amazing juice and Ali confronted me with nothing but complete humility and love they made me feel so welcomed and went above and beyond just doing the piercing for me. Everything about this place is awesome from the relaxing music they have playing to calm you down if your feeling anxious about getting a certain piercing to even going out their way to ask me and my buddy I was with if we needed water while we were waiting for Ali to sterilize everything. We struck up amazing conversations and had some good laughs. When it was time for time for the piercing juice was standing right there supporting me because she seen I was a little nervous and ultimately it made the experience 10 times better. Thank you so much Ali and juice I will definitely be coming back to get all future piercings here!

These guys are the best! My teenage daughter has gotten piercings, jewelry and follow up care here and they are absolutely fantastic! Professional, hygienic, careful and accommodating. The staff is knowledgeable and fun. They have been quick to respond to follow up questions and made a helpful referral for something when we needed it.

I came in for a septum piercing (which i was a bit nervous of). Charlotte helped me pick out the perfect nose ring. Maddie did a great job making me feel comfortable and the piercing was quick and (relatively) painless. Really wonderful establishment! 10/10 would recommend

"No offense, but we're not willing to die for your girlfriend." Maybe there is a less rude and condescending elitist way to explain your (imo, very reasonable) covid rules. Totally unprovoked and among a string of other rude comments. Good luck trying to get a word in too. The manager cut me off and explained over me every time I even tried to talk. Just trying to get a gift for my wife who liked the jewelry.

I got a couple of cartilage piercings here last month. It had been a while since I'd had any piercings done and I was nervous. The staff were very kind and answered all of my questions. Everything was very professional and clean. They put me completely at ease and it was not nearly as painful as I thought it might be. The only thing I will warn you about is that the jewelry is a bit on the expensive side, but I thought it was worth it for the great experience they gave me during the piercing. And, you're going to have your piecing in for a long time while it heals, so might as well get something nice!

I made a quick trip to IRIS to get shorter posts for second holes in my lobes after moving away from my piercer. IRIS is great! So clean. Everyone wore masks and they took my temperature before I came inside. It was a super quick visit but I felt really comfortable and trusted them. I will definitely go back for any future piercing needs

Could not be happier with my experience at IRIS. The staff are friendly and take the time to make sure you are informed about your piercing. It is an extremely welcoming space! And their jewelry selection is STUNNING. Plus, they take COVID-19 safety very seriously, so that I felt very safe and taken care of. Would recommend to anyone from someone getting their first piercing to a seasoned veteran!

This place is the best of the best! Truly wonderful service, immaculately clean and a wonderful selection of product. I've gotten 4 piercings here and every time, the staff was exceptional.

I haven't even gotten my piercings done here YET, and I am satisfied. I came in today with a botched cartilage piercing that my cousin gave me over 1 month ago. The stud looked like it was sinking into my earlobe ( gross ). I swung by after my swim to get his opinion and to possibly fix it somehow. He is just like many of the reviews state: kind, courteous, professional and knowledgeable. He explained how my body was reacting to the poor quality stud ( essentially rejecting it) and even removed it for me, and cleaned it up. At no charge. Iris is conveniently located on Lincoln Avenue and probaly a 1 minute walk from the Western Brown Line El stop. I walked in and felt right at home. Simple, clean and much nicer than any jewelry/ piercing shop I have ever witnessed. A true class act ( unlike me, I think I said about 3-4 curse words while he removed that stud - it wasn't pretty). I've had this place book marked for a while now and will definitely be back. Thank you Jaymes.

I absolutely love my nose piercing and Jaymes made me feel super relaxed while he was piercing me. I'm no stranger to piercings, but his energy made any nerves I had go away! IRIS also has BEAUTIFUL jewelry. I have a genuine diamond nose ring!!! Who even knew that'd be a thing? I'm so glad I finally got my nose pierced and I'm even more glad that I went to IRIS!

I was feeling spontaneous yesterday and decided to finally get some piercings on my ears that I have wanted for a long time. I chose this shop because they're on safepiercing.org and appeared to have the kind of jewelry I was looking for. Everyone in the shop was so kind, welcoming, and comforting. I felt very attended to and cared for and was absolutely thrilled with how all four of my piercings turned out. The piercer, Ali, was very knowledgeable and did a really good job making me feel comfortable and informed. It was expensive, but quality piercing and jewelry is always expensive and absolutely worth every penny. I will 100% be returning and recommending this shop to friends.
