"No.25 Eustace Street, Dublin Wobbly floors, a crooked staircase, dusty books, an old piano, and a few hundred years of character mix together in the beating heart of old Dublin, the Temple Bar. I spend more than half of every year on the road, calling in at one hotel and the next, and I've been lucky to have spent time at some fabulous hotels and holiday homes. This joint at No. 25 Eustace St. is near the top of the list. From the Irish Landmark Trust website: "The Irish Landmark Trust saves heritage buildings throughout the island of Ireland that are at risk of being lost through neglect or inappropriate use; conserving and restoring these buildings so they can be let as holiday homes." The next time you're in Dublin with your family or a large group, forget about calling in on modern digs, and check out No. 25, or one of the other heritage properties managed by the trust. It was a beautiful experience, and I can't wait to check in again. Next time I plan to visit an old lighthouse, fort, or country home."
We have had many amazing stays in pretty much all the properties the trust has to offer. So many great properties in so many great locations. The prices are also quite reasonable. Once you pay all the extra charges in airbnb it is often more expensive for equivalent properties.

We stayed at the Wicklow Head lighthouse. It was amazing. There is very little lifht pollution so seeing the night sky was amazing. The building itself is a real lighthouse decommissioned, accommodation over 5 stories the kitchen being at the very top. If you ever want to stay in a lighthouse this is the one to stay in. We went for a coastal walk and came upon a colony of seals.

The Irish Landmark properties are genuinely real life hidden Irish gems. We've stayed in both Ballealy cottage and Clomantagh Castle, both incredibly enchanting places in special locations.
Both great spots, with lots to see and do locally, as well as a lot to learn and explore in the properties themselves.
For the trust people, we were looked after very well... booking was easy and the people managing the property were great, leaving plenty of firewood and things like milk that you wouldn't think of. Highly recommended.

Staying in one of these exquisite historic properties has the 'feel good' factor of feeling like you're helping to restore them while having a good time. Staying at St John's Point Lighthouse in Donegal was a magnificently unique experience that I'll cherish forever. I would love to return and would highly recommend it.

Irish Landmark Trust cancelled our booking (Christmas) at the last minute because they told me the property (Drumgate Lodge, Antrim) did not meet fire safety standards when checked by authorities in December 2018. Our holiday was ruined as no other suitable accommodation was available to us because it was so last-minute.
To make matters worse, I had difficulty in getting a full refund from ILT. However even a full refund doesn't make amends for them ruining a family holiday when holiday time had already been booked to coincide with work leave / school holidays etc. They refused any type of compensation whatsoever, the CEO reporting that they had the right to cancel bookings at their discretion and their only liability to customers is limited to a refund of the amount paid. This liability is way out of line with their policy if a customer cancels a booking - e.g. if I cancelled my booking I would have lost 75% of the total cost. They show zero flexibility on this.
I am sure that we were not the only disappointed customers who had their holiday cancelled for the property in question. I am extremely disappointed in how Irish Landmark Trust have managed the issue and treated a long standing customer. This is an example of how a business loses customers rather than retains them.
I note that this is not the first property to have been closed due to Fire Safety issues - No.25 Eustace Street in Dublin seems to also have been closed down according to something I found from October 2018 when I googled.

Centrally located housing in Temple Bar, but with all the late night noise that accompanies the location. Right next to a late night bar. On the upside, most attractions in Dublin center are a short walk away.

Beautiful buildings available to stay in, amazing charity that does incredible work saving and maintaining buildings and their histories who are at risk of being lost forever
