Irish Whiskey Museum – Museum Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"What's this museum all about? The Irish Whiskey Museum is exclusively for tourists, whether they are Irish or visiting from abroad. But that's okay—it's all part of the experience. Housed in a historic building near the city center, the museum is comprised of an extensive whiskey bar, historic exhibits, a tasting room, and a well-stocked souvenir shop. What can we expect from a visit here? The museum explores the history of Irish whiskey, from its ancient origins to modern lore. Guests will learn about the invention of whiskey, customary drinking habits, and how distillation played an important role in Ireland's history. Most exhibits are recreations of artifacts or artwork relevant to the periods being discussed. Any standout features? Unlike several other booze-themed attractions in Dublin, the Irish Whiskey Museum is totally independent—meaning it's not sponsored by a whiskey brand. Rather, the museum cycles through different bottles and brands in its guided whiskey tasting, the last part of the hour-long tour. Guests can also upgrade their tastings with premium whiskeys. What do you make of the crowd? Visitors are whiskey lovers and the kin they drag in with them. Kids are welcome, but they may be bored. Teetotalers (of any age) can purchase discounted tickets. How easy is it to get around, especially for visitors with limited mobility? The museum is easy to navigate and fully wheelchair accessible. Seating is provided throughout the tour. Any guided tours worth trying? A guided tour is the only way to see the exhibits, though visitors can also sign up for other experiences like whiskey blending and, on weekends, a whiskey brunch. Is the gift shop worth a stop? If you're in a hurry to find local whiskies, this is the spot. If you want cheap whiskey, hit up a local liquor store instead. How long do you anticipate us spending in the museum? There's an astounding volume of accessible, memorable information packed into 60 minutes. Afterwards, you can get out and drink whiskey—or stay inside the museum and drink whiskey. Tell us more. Visitors can taste and compare Irish whiskeys at the bar. Or just luxuriate at a table overlooking Grafton Street with a cup of tea, coffee, or spiked Irish coffee, while taking advantage of the free WiFi." - Melissa Kravitz Hoeffner

We had an absolutely fantastic time at the Irish Whiskey Museum! It was much more than just a tasting — it was a journey through Irish history, culture, and storytelling. We laughed, we listened, we tasted, and at times we were genuinely moved by the stories behind the whiskey. It was the kind of experience that stays with you. A very special thank you to our incredible guide — a true star! She was born to speak and tell stories. Her energy, humour, and passion made the whole tour come alive. We felt like we were part of a live theatre performance mixed with a history class (but way more fun!). Her ability to connect with the group and guide us through centuries of whiskey tradition was unforgettable. We left the museum not only smiling and a little more knowledgeable, but also wondering why we hadn’t visited sooner. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Dublin — even if you’re not a whiskey drinker, you’ll enjoy every minute of it!

I am not really a whiskey lover, but I had a fabulous time! Our guide, Daniel, was lovely and also very funny. The tour goes by quickly a then, of course you get to taste some "live water" as they say. Might be a bit touristic, but I would definitely recommend it, because it is not as expensive as other atractions and you actually learn something new.

Google
Brien was hilarious and informative. He kept us smiling and laughing. The history was interesting and after having done the Jameson Tour earlier in the week, it was a nice refresher of how whiskey is made and a richer history of the process in Ireland. Thank you for the memories!

Google
This was an interesting experience. We used our gocity pass to visit. You watch a couple videos that are narrated by your guide. Our guide did a good job pacing with videos. You learn a good bit about how whiskey may have gotten discovered and started. There is history shared about different distilleries when they opened and closed and why. The way that whiskey is made is shared. You end with a tasting and are guided thru seeing the tears on your glass, smelling and then tasting 3 different whiskeys. You have water to drink between each try and also pipette to add water to the whiskey if you so desire.

We had a great time! We did the blending experience. Andrew was our guide and he was awesome- so knowledgeable, friendly, and funny. The tasting was great, we tried four different kinds of whiskey and each tasted great.

Google
This was a great start during our visit to Dublin. Our tour guide ( Matt ) did a fabulous job. Combined a lot of information with a bit of humor. Quite knowledgeable. The tour is a bit quirky, visiting staged rooms while leaning the history of whiskey. The tasting room is obviously the highlight. Most people had a flight of 3 which seemed perfect. If you arrive early there's a little bar where ypu can grab a nice drink before the tour. My only complaint was since we were on the last tour of the day the shop was closed when our tour ended. Something they should take into account when it comes to scheduling.

Really enjoyed my visit to the Irish Whiskey Museum! The tour was informative and fun, with great storytelling and tastings. A must for whiskey lovers and a great way to learn about Ireland’s rich whiskey history.

Google
I was just there this afternoon with some friends. We did the blended experience tour. Our tour guide Andrew was brilliant, fun and knowledgeable. He had that good all Irish humour. The whiskey tasting at the end was excellent and you get to bring your blend home. Definitely recommend. The staff overall are really nice. Touristy for sure but quite enjoyable if you want to know more about whiskey

Yelp
We happened upon the Irish Whiskey Museum on a bit of a whim - Google said it was open until 10:30PM, so after all of the other museums closed at 5:00PM or 6:00PM, we figured we'd check this one out, too. However, it wasn't the *museum* that was open that late - it was just the whiskey bar attached to the museum. Let me tell you, we had the BEST time in this very quaint little room of a bar, and I cannot recommend it enough. If you don't want to do the museum experience, and just want advice on a new whiskey, a classic whiskey, a tame whiskey, a bold whiskey, a rare whiskey, or whatever kind of Irish whiskey you can think of (because it IS the specifically IRISH Whiskey Museum), then go in and ask for Shane. He's an expert, a gentleman, and just a delight of a person. We ended up sitting at the tiny table in the alcove window overlooking the Parliament building, lit up so fun for the holidays, and enjoyed the Dubliner (I think) whiskey flight, along with about 4 other full glasses throughout the evening, all of which were curated for us one-by-one by Shane. We're not connoisseurs by any means, so the fact that we genuinely enjoyed the choices he picked for us - including a request to keep the prices low for his selections - really speaks to this guy knowing his stuff. If you get the chance to order from Shane at the Irish Whiskey Museum's whiskey bar, then you've struck gold in this city. Additionally, we happened in on a night where there was live music! It seems that may be the case every night here, but we visited on a Saturday, so I can't say for sure whether that was just a weekend thing or not. Regardless, the musician was a singer/guitarist by the name of Don Baker, Jr., and what a LOVELY talent that man is. Seriously, if you get the chance to happen upon Don when he has a mic, an amp, and an acoustic guitar, then your ear drums are in for a right treat. A smooth voice, a great selection of songs, and a lovely and fun person - you couldn't ask for better for live entertainment. Even though the location is so intimate and small, the live music made it feel even more special and lively and overall brilliant. Moments when it was semi-crowded or moments when it was nearly empty (we were the only two patrons a couple of times throughout our 2 or so hours there) didn't matter for the vibe - it was spectacular and lovely no matter what. We only wished there were a few more patrons just to provide a bigger audience experience for Don, but he played just as beautifully and skillfully and lovingly regardless of the number of people in the room. (Also, bless him for catering to a couple of tipsy Americans - he asked for requests, and we jokingly said 'anything by Harry Nilsson,' knowing that's a bit niche of a selection - he jokingly responded, "Willie Nelson you say?! Sure thing! I got one of his - say less!" Just another moment to show what a delight this man is.) We're not clubbers, partiers, or fans of getting stuck in big crowds - but we love a good drink if it comes with the atmosphere of live music, and this place was all that and then some. Intimate, but lively. After our first round of drinks, I went to the bar to ask Shane for another recommendation, but asked first if it was usually this quiet on a Saturday night, to which he replied that this bar isn't really a "destination," and isn't even really a "bar" so to speak - it's more of a bar that's attached to an attraction that folks visit before and/or after their Museum tour for a single drink to either get them in the mood for the theme, or reminisce about what they just experienced. In fact, he then offered to recommend some "more lively pubs and places around the corner instead," to which I aggressively and speedily responded with a "NO THANK YOU THIS IS PERFECT." Haha! We stayed for 3 rounds of whiskeys and Guinness pours with an Irish Whiskey expert, a wonderful set list with an engaging and beautifully talented singer/guitarist, and an all around lovely time visiting only the bar attached to the Irish Whiskey Museum, and we couldn't recommend it more highly. Thank you again to Shane and to Don Baker, Jr. for exactly the evening we didn't know we were looking for.

Yelp
This is not a "museum", it is a performance experience. There are no artifacts to examine, no exhibits, no displays. There is a very talented and energetic "guide" that entertains you about "whiskey" with some props that are regarded as nothing more than set dressing. As such, there is no "whiskey" in the whiskey museum. This is a completely scripted tour of whiskey mythology, from a 50K meter viewpoint. The guide gets to riff on the material he presents, but I suspected his comic admonitions were based on his realization that what he was saying was shite. Most of what the guide says about "Irish whiskey" is inaccurate and misleading with a few outright lies. Whether they're prompted by ignorance or malevolence I can't say, but this should probably be re-branded as "House of Lies". The reason I'm being harsh is that the real stories and facts behind whiskey are vastly more interesting than this tripe. Its been dumbed down beyond belief and at the same time, gives the consumer less insight into the real stories and fun behind the category, and perpetuates bad information. I came here 5 years ago and it was more of a museum then, but that's all been replaced by this crap. I dare the owners to challenge me on this.

Yelp
We had a great time doing this experience. There's some cheesy parts, but our guide made us laugh. The only negative part of the experience was that we got stuck with a rather large group of boys celebrating a 40th birthday who were very loud and rambunctious; they were disruptive during part of the tasting portion. Also for the "mixing your own whiskey," it's basically just a bottle that you get to pour the left overs of the whiskeys that you try during the tasting part. Not exactly what we expected, especially since we didn't like the majority of the tastings.

Yelp
I was excited to do this tour as I had done the Jack Daniels tour in Tennessee and do love whiskey and bourbon and its history. I think this tour may depend a little bit on the the person that guides you through. It starts with a weird movie-like introduction that the guide talks through, our guide was disparaging the movie from the beginning and it was kind of hokey and not really purposeful. It moves in to talking about prohibition and a little more history of how the industry started in Ireland and the UK and then more about the principal personalities that shaped the industry in Ireland. If you are looking for more of the history and actual production processes maybe the distillery tours would be a much better option..it's just skimmed over here...again this may depend on who your guide is. The tour ends with a tasting which had 3 choices and they were all pretty decent choices and I was told these do rotate occasionally. I guess it is maybe having visited the Jack Daniels distillery previously where I got history and saw the actual production process and smelled the barrels- it was more of an all sensory tour, this one was a bit of a letdown. If you're down for $22 for a little history and a taste of 3 whiskies this may be your thing...I just left wishing it had been a little more.

Yelp
A friend recommended the Irish Whiskey Museum to us and let me tell you, this was one of our favorite things we did while in Ireland! This spot is in the heart of Dublin and on a very busy street so plan to walk or Uber. The tour is super interactive and educational [honestly learned a ton] and you get to try 4 different local whiskey's including our favorite, Powers, which is not exported so you can only get it locally! We did the premium tour which gave us the extra (4th) tasting and a take home Irish Whiskey Museum glass. Our tour guide was super funny and made the whole experience a lot of fun, while still being very informational. Overall, the tour lasted about an hour and you learn a lot about the history of whiskey, which is super fascinating! Definitely recommending this to friends and family who are visiting Dublin!

Yelp
Fun tour, taking under two hours. Unique museum. Enjoyed the tasting. Great instructions on how to do a proper tasting and what to look for in well aged whiskey.

Yelp
In my limited time in Dublin I could have visited the Guinness or Jameson distillery but I wanted to sample a variety beverages. Additionally, the other two sites are big bus tour stops and the Irish Whiskey Museum is not. The museum is centrally located and easy to find the central area of Dublin. We didn't make reservations and waited approximately 20 minutes for the next tour to start. There are options to sample 3 whiskeys, 4 whiskeys or no whiskeys at the end of the tour. The group on the tour wasn't too large, maybe around 12 people. We were provided with information on the history of Irish whiskey and moved into 3 different rooms before we ended up in the bar for our tasting. I found the tour to be educational and fun. We discussed different types of whiskey, the difference between whiskeys from around the world, how it's made, etc. The guide was pretty entertaining. For the tasting, if one chooses to do so, they provide a variety of whiskeys with different profiles. Jamesons and Bushmills weren't options during our visit. It was eyeopening for me to see how different the whiskeys were. Once we selected our favorite(s) the guide let us know what characteristics or styles we should look for if searching for similar whiskeys. The guide was also providing recommendations for other whiskeys we could try. There's an elevator for folks that cannot handle steps. The gift shop had a good variety of decently priced whiskeys.

Yelp
If your on a time crunch but still want to do a whiskey distillery/tasting tour...based in the heart of Dublin, I was told that the IWM tour is better than visiting Jameson or Teeling separately. So that's what brought me here... the museum tour gives you an unbiased history of Irish whiskey, tour is about an hr long and learn about single still pots and try blending your own as well. On the classic tour you can sample 3 or for a small fee you can upgrade to premium for 4 tasting and a sample glass which makes for a good souvenir. It's a fact that no one retains any info from a guided tour more than 48hrs (esp. after the amber nectar) and on that logic I just decided to skip the tour and just do a tasting by myself at the bar. Im no whiskey connoisseur, that's not a drink of choice but when in Rome aka Ireland ... I had to try it... Writers Tears... was sweet on the nose, spicy on the palate and Ia smooth finish.. loved it so much I came back 3days in a row. And oh their Irish Coffee is absolutely fantastic as well. The bar has some sort of cozy feel to it and the there was this spot by the window overlooking the streets outside of Trinity college, so perfect absolutely loved it. The gift shop has small bottles to take home and create your own blend which I thought was quite excellent. I highly recommend it!

Yelp
Is this a popular, trite attraction in Dublin? Yes Is it worth it? Absolutely! The tour is very informative and fun. The guides do a good job of teaching you and entertaining. I did the premium tour. If you're a lightweight, the premium is a lot. All in all, great tour!
google avatar

Kelli T.

Yelp
What a fun and informative tour! Our guide was hilarious; I enjoyed his somewhat warped sense of humor!! The tour involved a short video in one room, another had a replica of a still, one had talking pictures and the final room is where we tasted and blended our own creations to take home. I think it was well worth the money spent!
google avatar

Jake C.

Yelp
This was an interesting and fun tour at a reasonable price, the only downside was all the whiskeys you taste at the end are not great. We also did the Jameson tour and this was cool because it talked about the history of all the distilleries, but it was also a lot more dramatized and as I said the whiskey tasting wasn't great. The whiskeys tasted also seemed to have no reference to the tour it seemed like it was just the cheapest 3 or 4 bottles they could come up with. To give you an idea, I am a whiskey drinker and I didn't finish ANY of the tasting pours.
google avatar

Yelp
There is a lot of history when it comes to Irish Whiskey. In Dublin alone, you have several distillers more than willing to share their thoughts and tell you their 'secret' which makes them the 'best'. However, for an unbiased tour of the history, as well as a small sampling of a few key products, the Irish Whiskey Museum is worth the price of admission. Speaking of the price of admission, you have several options. We went with the premium package and while not a must, the premium (an extra sample and a souvenir glass) is more than fair for the small extra in price. The good news is everyone gets the same tour and the only difference is at the end, so your group can mix and match as they feel. The guided tour consists of a few rooms used to set the stage for the story the tour guide will be telling and the history being described. You'll get to ask questions, watch a few videos, and listen to some audio as well. The entire experience should take about an hour and is easy to fit around other tours in the area such as Trinity College. I'm glad we fit this museum in over our last day and recommend you add it to your list as well.

Yelp
Definitely worth the price, interesting and engaging tour encompassing both how whiskey is made and also the Irish history behind it. Really informative. Tour guide Ruby was an excellent tour guide but also clearly knew the whiskey - able to provide recommendations based on what we did and didn't like. This was my first time having Irish Whiskey to begin with, and I exited the experience not only with info thanks to the tour but what to expect from additional whiskeys in the future. Tasting included roughly half-ounce flavorings of three whiskeys (pictured here). Opting for the premium tour (+3€) gives an additional tasting of an Irish whiskey aged 12 years (instead of 3 years 1 day) and an included whiskey tasting glass souvenir. Custom waterfall in the tasting area I thought was really cute.

Yelp
We pre-booked and paid for the early bird premium tour at 1100. Matt was our tour guide - funny and personable. He provided some history and guided us through the 4 whiskey samples. Very enjoyable and worth the time!

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
Matt was an excellent guide for our tour. Very funny and informative! Thank you are giving us great whiskey and commentary to boot.
google avatar

Yelp
The tour was very informative and entertaining. Our host was hilarious and made us enjoy the entire experience. At the end you taste 4 whiskeys and can have your own fun blending them together. Whatever you don't drink you get to take home in a small jar!

Yelp
Great atmosphere and SUPER friendly staff. The whiskey sour (pictured) & old fashion were fantastic! The husband also got a flight. We didn't make it for the tour this time around but the visit was great nonetheless.
google avatar

Yelp
Steady as a column, Callum was our tour-guide extraordinaire who brought interesting information, courteousness, and humor all in a tidy package. The tour could be interpreted as a typical one, but Callum's attention to detail and his interaction and impressive memory of all the guests really made him shine. The tastings of course was one of the highlights, but highlighted by the fact that Callum could explain the subtle differences between whiskeys and why. I believe it is a fair value and the perfect length for a tour of this sort.

Yelp
We did the Irish Coffee Making Masterclass and it is great. So much fun learning not only about the whiskey and history, but the various stories about the Irish Coffee. Of course, the best part is getting to drink the coffee once you've made it! Give it 45 minutes of your time, you won't regret it.
google avatar

Linda M.

Yelp
I am mind blown by the customer service. What an AWFUL WAY to start our Ireland/Scotland trip. I mean what the hell.... Every single person was SO RUDE. No warm welcome, no goodbye, and we didn't know the tour guide was talking to us and said "I spoke English and they still didn't respond" they most certainly are RACIST to Americans. Oh and if your staff wants to talk about us say it to our face! If I wasn't visiting from out of country my response would be different. Thank god we have 8 more days of fun. PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE I BEG OF YOU. This place is a joke...
google avatar

Yelp
A fun afternoon activity, definitely do the premium tour if you can the extra tastibga and glass are well worth it. Our guide Ellen was very knowledgable and able to make great recommendations based on the whiskey we already liked.
google avatar

Yelp
I absolutely loved this place! It was an awesome experience learning about Irish whiskey. I'm a fan, obviously, but it's just that much more enjoyable when you know the history of what you're drinking. I booked this tour because the friend I went on my European tour with loves whiskey more than I do. I figured she would appreciate this. We got there kind of early so we waited in the waiting area until the tour started. I got to read a bit of the history and watched a movie about whiskey. You could go to the bar and have a drink before the tour, but we were thinking that we were going to do a tasting anyway so no need to get drunk beforehand. The host/guide was really funny, but I have such an American ear so it took me a minute before my ear started translating his Irish accent into something that I could understand. After that, it was smooth sailing! Those Irish can really tell a story. I really enjoyed the history he gave and the whiskeys were so delicious! It was a very informative tour and the whiskeys were delicious. I highly recommend this tour!

Yelp
One of the most fun things we did while in Ireland! Ask for Claire! She was an amazing tour guide. Funny and knowledgeable. I'm telling everyone that goes to Ireland to check this out!
google avatar

Winnie T.

Yelp
Super fun experience if you have some time in Dublin! Located next to the Trinity College. You can plan ahead to reserve tickets for specific times and experiences. We did a walk-in and the best time that worked for us was the whiskey blending experience. Our tour guide was great! He a really good story teller and made the experience very enjoyable. We started off with a video about the origin of the word Whiskey and the prohibition and then overview of the popular whiskey brands. At the end, we got to try 5 whiskeys and create a blend to bring home. I would definitely come back and also recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
If you're looking for something fun to do in Dublin, the Irish Whiskey Tour is awesome! We walked in and were able to secure a spot on the next tour that was starting in about 10 minutes. It is like a mix between a play, improv, and a history lesson. We learned about the discovery of Whiskey, its Irish influence, and how it became a staple in Irish culture. My husband and I were already fans of whiskey but had so much fun learning about the history and getting to learn HOW to taste Irish Whiskey. We learned things about its influence on your senses that we have never noticed before. Our tour guide was awesome and funny and we really enjoyed ourselves. We did the package with the 3 tastings which was plenty, for an additional price you can get a 4th tasting and souvenir cup.
google avatar

Steven B.

Yelp
The individual distillery tours are fun, but they focus on their product. The Irish Whiskey Museum tells the history of whiskey in Ireland, very interesting and we got to try several different whiskeys. Definitely recommend.
google avatar

Jared M.

Yelp
Did a stop here and really enjoyed everything. The tour got a little long, but a lot of great history to be taken in with it. The tasting was fun, and the areas when you first go in are great! Go if you have time while traveling.

Yelp
So much fun! I learned a little bit more about the Irish whiskey and its history. The host Ben was funny and relatable. This is a must try experience.

Trisha R.

Yelp
Super fun 1 hour tour chock full of historical whiskey information followed by a great tasting on the subject. Our guide was very animated, knowledgeable and kept it interesting.

Yelp
Our guide Donal was lovely and entertaining. He was fun and gave educational information. We even got to do whiskey blending at the end of the tour
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful experience! Highly recommended!! Will definitely return. Great whiskey store attached. Get the add-ons of extra drinks.
google avatar

Angela W.

Yelp
Informative and entertaining. They cover the history and distillation process, with a representative rating at the end. There is a wide range of bottles available at reasonable prices (less expensive than the separate whiskey shop on the first floor) with most available to taste in their bar.
google avatar

Terri S.

Yelp
Took the extended tour and love it. Our guide was Donal and Donald. He was interesting and funny. I highly recommend this tour and tasting.
google avatar

J J.

Yelp
Got the blending whiskey experience, which was horrible!!! First off our guide was late, second it was hot as hell, no ac, no fans except those pointing toward the workers and guides. The blending experience, they don't even mention its not separate, so we were "blending" stuff not knowing that was the experience part and the bottling you get to "take home". What a joke! It's not even a nice bottle, complete rubbish! Do not buy through blending experience! It's literally just mixing their whiskey tasting whiskey together, that's it! Nothing more! Waste of time and money!!!
google avatar

Minnie N.

Yelp
I think this place is more entertaining than educational. If you want serious education about the whiskey distillery process, there are plenty of distilleries in Ireland for that. (In Dublin, we went to the Jameson Secret Tasting Experience which was personalized for my husband's connoisseur palate. Expensive but worth it for people who know their whiskeys). The Irish Whiskey Museum will give you a very broad view of what Irish whiskey is, the different types of whiskey, some entertaining storytelling that may be exaggerated a bit, a lot of laughs, and a tasting in the end of some whiskeys you may or may not like. I liked the Powers whiskey the best (of the three). I learned it isn't readily available in the US so if you like it, buy it in Dublin to take home. Our guide Grace was amazing! Even if you don't like whiskey, she'll make you wish you did. She was informative, funny, knowledgeable, irreverent, relatable and charming. I hope she writes her script because it was quite entertaining. The tour itself was a lot of fun. We were a large group and everyone seemed to be having a great time. The gift shop is great too. If you're a hard-core whiskey connoisseur and already know a lot about whiskeys (e.g. my husband), you won't learn anything new here. But if you're whiskey curious and you have some time to kill in Dublin, it's worth a stop.
google avatar

Melissa N.

Yelp
Awesome experience! A must do if you are in Dublin. They have different tours at different prices. I booked the blending experience. It includes a very engaging guided tour where you learn about the origins of Irish whiskey. Our guide, Eoin, was funny and entertaining. The tour goes through 5 different themed rooms that represents a particular period in Irish history. The tour is followed by tasting 4 Irish whiskeys. At the end, you blend your own whiskey. Everything I just described is part of the whiskey blending experience. Be sure to visit the museum's bar to enjoy some live music or any of their whiskeys. Also make sure to pass by the gift shop, which has an extensive whiskey offering and some adorable Irish souvenirs. 5 stars.
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
We went on a thoroughly windblown tour of Trinity College and popped across the street for the blending tour here afterward on a whim. So glad we did! Noel was our guide and it was great fun--also a lovely antidote for our jet lag. If you're curious about Irish whiskey I would recommend this as worth your time.

Diana G.

Yelp
If you don't have time to do any of the other whisky tastings and want to get the most out of one tour, then this place is for you. I will start with- we didn't get to taste Jameson or teeling, but we did get to taste thee different Irish whiskies. The tour was very informative and our tour guide was so much fun. I think his name was Eion or something like that. The tour runs every 30 minutes. It's about 20 euros. They do have a bar where you can get a beer or taste whisky. They also have a gift shop. We did buy some mini bottles of whisky we were interested in from the shop. It was cheaper than tasting them at the bar

Yelp
It was my first time in Ireland and what better place to learn about Irish whiskey than the Irish Whiskey Museum right in downtown. I opted for the Irish Whiskey Museum blending experience tour which included a tasting of 4 Irish whiskeys followed by an opportunity to blend my own whiskey in a miniature personalized bottle to bring home. €28 was a reasonable price for the experience. I learned a lot about the history of Irish whiskey, scotch, and how irish whiskey is trying to reclaim the market. The tour guide was engaging, knowledgeable, and friendly. My tour didn't start for another 30 minutes so i waited at their lounge/bar area and tried pour of their Irishman 17 year whiskey. It was not peaty at all and went down smooth. They also have a small gift shop full of t-shirts, whiskey-related souvenirs, and glasses. I had a great time at the Irish Whiskey Museum!

Yelp
We have to say that Aidan from the Irish Whiskey Museum ( who is not pictured) did a phenomenal job at keeping our attention and making the tour lovely and fun! Louise (pictured in the photo-center) made a wonderful whiskey drink that she created herself (also pictured) and it is highly recommended!. She also gave us her recipe and when we say we liked it, we had multiple of it so take that for what it's worth. Without Aidan and Louise, we aren't sure how our experience might've been but because of them, we had a very memorable time! It was a grand time!

Yelp
Loved it. Would recommend for any whiskey drinker. We bought tickets online and saved a little bit of cash. We arrived late unfortunately but they still accommodated us. Our guide, Eoin (pronounced Owen) really set the tone for the tour. He gave us so much information about whiskey, including why some are spelled without the E! He gave us whiskey history, Irish history, Irish language lessons (Uisce Beatha), and finished it off with a tasting. Some of the decor is a little wonky but again, Eoin made up for it. We had a blast even though there were only 3 of us on his tour LOL. We tasted 4 different whiskey's and then we received the souvenir glass to boot. It's on the Dublin Hop on/ Hop off stop. Go see it!

Yelp
Our tour of the Irish Whiskey Museum was pretty good. It started off a bit hokey, and our guide was somewhat detached, as we watched a couple cartoony presentations about the history of Irish whiskey. The best part of our evening was when we went up to the tasting room and our guide livened up and became more engaging. What we liked about this tour is that it is not affiliated with any distillery and therefore you get a more balanced overview of the different whiskeys in Ireland. The tastings were nice and we appreciated getting a feel for the flavors coming from the different brands. We ended up getting our tickets discounted through a walking tour we took earlier in the day so we felt we got a better value from our experience. I suppose our tour would have been even better if our guide was as lively in the beginning as he was toward the end.

Yelp
We had returned from Northern Ireland and had a couple of days left to mosey around Dublin City Centre. Among the places I wanted to visit, the Irish Whiskey Museum was one of them. Because whiskey. Situated on three floors, the museum offers a gift shop, a whiskey bar, a multi-roomed interactive tour experience, as well as a tasting room to sample various whiskeys. Overall, I enjoyed my time at the museum, as we did the premium tour that allowed us to sample in addition to three whiskeys, a barrel-aged one, for a couple of euros more. We enjoyed bars of chocolate from butters while I enjoyed a glass of 7-year whiskey by Glendalough that was very good in the whiskey bar before our tour began. When on the tour, the set rooms where the guide discussed the various landmarks of Irish Whiskey history were pretty cool. They gave a nice vibe that assisted the guide who gave her spiel on the history of Irish Whiskey. The guide was very good at keeping everyone enthused -- then again, we were talking about Irish Whiskey, so a little hard to not be enthused, but I digress. The tasting room where we tried four whiskeys was great. I hadn't tried three before that, and enjoyed The Irishmen and Knappogue Castle varieties especially. If you're a fan of whiskey, the museum is a cool experience to discover. And to "try" a few whiskeys as well.

Yelp
Such a great experience. I had googled Whiskey tours before visiting Ireland and this one stood out as the best bang for the buck. We paid for the premium tour which included 4 tastings, a souvenir glass, and a Whiskey tour. Grace was our tour guide and she was freaking awesome and hilarious. It was a short 30 minute tour with interesting history and surprisingly funny jokes. After a walk through time learning about Irish Whiskey history you end the tour in the tasting room which continued with a lesson in how to taste Whiskey and the difference in flavor, body and texture. I'm not a Whiskey fan but I enjoyed learning about it and swooshing around a few Whiskey glasses like a fancy lady.

Yelp
You think you know about Whiskey until you come on a tour at the Irish Whiskey Museum and then you realize you don't know jack. Our tour guide was amazing and she explained the history of how Whiskey was made and who the big players were in the beginning. She also explained the different styles of Whiskey making and who was able to make a larger quantity with the style of equipment being used at the time. I thought it was such an interesting tour and the best part was the tasting at the end. I'm a huge fan of Jameson so I'm a little biased. We tried three different Whiskeys: Grace O'Malley, Powers and The Irishman. The one I liked the best was Powers. The others will just make you grow hair on your chest. I enjoyed Powers so much I picked up two bottles of it at the airport to bring home to my husband.

Yelp
We went to the Irish Whiskey Museum when we came to visit because my family LOVES whiskey. After visiting here, I always lean towards Irish whiskey now. It was so much fun learning about the history of the whiskey and then getting to try so many different kinds. I absolutely loved going here!

Yelp
This place was AWESOME! I am not a whiskey drinker and since I'd already gone to the Jameson factory, I wasn't super excited about this excursion. My opinion drastically changed when we got there! Because we had time to kill before our tour, we sat in the small bar area and scoped out the menu. Stephen, the amazing barman, asked what I did like to drink and based on that, suggested to me a few brands/types to try. He was super knowledgeable about all the whiskey's, knew how they were made, their different flavors and notes, and provided so much information about them all. I was impressed! Sarah H. was our tour guide and she was a riot! Super funny, made the tour and history lesson enjoyable, and was also super knowledgeable about all the whiskey's. I loved her presentations! Such a fun little place with a great history lesson and samples at the end. I would definitely do this again!

Yelp
This is not really a museum, more of an experience, but it was fun and informative. Aaron was a great tour guide and provided our group with lots of history that you didn't need to be a whiskey fan to appreciate. They have a modern looking bar where you can order whiskey flights, cocktails, Irish coffees, and more (these are priced separately). At the end of the tour, you get to try three or four whiskeys, depending on what tour you chose. I'm still not a whiskey fan - sorry Aaron! - but it was a cool Dublin attraction. Nice gift shop too, with a lot of souvenir-sized whiskey to take home to friends.

Yelp
Short Tour but just the right information. Wen't by for about 2 years without giving a visit. I had a friend over so we gave it a try. Tour is about an 1 hour with a tasting of 3 or four whiskeys at the end. It's not one of those 'read a thousand display boards yourself' kind of tour but a lot of narrative from your guide with a great number of examples and interaction. You not just learn about the process of making whisky but way more about the cultural history of what is called 'the water of life' in Ireland. Alongside the history of whisky you get some deep insights into the Irish culture itself and learn why those crazy folks are the way they are. The tasting gets you into the different types of Irish Whisky and how the production method reflects in taste. P.S. our Tourguide was Mark
