Stayed here for 7 days with partner and baby on private room and common toilet/bath. Not much activity on the place. The cafe was unfortunately closed during all days we stayed here. I liked the place, but rooms and house is getting old and has seen better days. Facilities are OK, but not more than that. The staff is friendly, but has trouble with English communication. For some reason they eat, sleep and rest (alot) in the same common area as the guest use. I don't know why. The room and the common area are clean on the surface, but not very clean "under the carpet". I think this place could use some upgrade. I will consider to go back 🙂

Very comfortable guesthouse, kitchen and garden. Great location close to Kabira Bay and other beautiful beaches. Staff are friendly and helpful. Facilities are very clean and well stocked. I would highly recommend this guesthouse for long term or short term stays.

Staff are lazy, liars, and totally incompetent. It says on their website to book directly for best prices. Seven times I asked the full time male and female worker to extend by one week. The pair of them repeatedly said they could not get hold of the owner? Why on earth do they need the owner to do a job they are paid to do? Totally ignored my requests all day and night. Did not bother to rebook online as the staff are too garbage. They are too busy swanning about having a sauna with tourists, laying on sofas or hammocks, and cooking elaborate meals for themselves whilst watching their devices for entertainment. The plumbing is crap here, with one blocked dirty cracked sink. One broken toilet. The shower leaked, and sign for not to use the bath. The kettle lid did not fit and microwave was too dodgy. The whole stand holding all this was about to collapse at any minute. The redeeming features were the sitting area and garden was very nice. Met nice people who were guests and had a bit of banter. If they fixed the plumbing issues, tarted up the washroom and dormitory, and of course got new staff, place would be wonderful.

We stayed for 4 nights. The place is super beautiful and well designed. There’s a big and cosy common area with really nice kitchen. The staff were super nice and welcoming. Sometimes there is even a cafe running in the hostel with good espresso!!! Really quiet and beautiful area.

Wonderful guesthouse, highly recommend staying here. Conveniently located in Kabira Bay near many beaches and dive shops! Our room was spacious and air conditioned. The common area is comfortable and perfect for socializing with others as you wish. House was cleaned frequently and kept very tidy. Games, books, kitchen supplies, snorkels, bikes, and airport pickup/drop off all available! Bus stop located nearby. The staff and owners running the guesthouse were incredibly friendly. I would definitely book here again!

If you want to stay in a location away from Ishigaki city center, this is perfect! It has a great yard, parking lots, easy access to the beach, and a wonderful kitchen to cook your own food. I stayed here for two weeks as a workation, it was wonderful! The car rental service they provide is quite affordable too. Don't really want to share this hidden gem to be honest :)

We really loved our stay at Iriwa. It was off season so we were nearly the only guests. We lived in the two coaches which was perfect for our family, four grown up kids and us. Yoko were a great hostess and she helped us with what we needed and it was almost as being home. We could hire a car of them for a very good price. We drove around the island for two days and the traffic is very friendly so it´s easy. The only thing that was less good was the beds, a little bit to hard. Standard is low but to a very good price. Internet was not so good in the coaches but it worked well in the kitchen area. ||Thanks to all of you who worked there for a fantastic stay!

I've traveled in 15 countries and counting, and I can say with 100% certainty that Ishigaki Island is my favorite place in this entire big, beautiful world. Iriwa is my home on Ishigaki, and it made a huge difference both times I stayed here - 1 week in 2014, and 1 week in 2017. I'll be back again and again; I'm sure of it. My boyfriend and I stayed here the first time after we had met while studying abroad. We were falling in love, and this island and our lovely room at Iriwa and the amazing host Gon-san made everything easy, peaceful, and absolutely unforgettable. You can borrow Iriwa's bikes and ride through the country roads, smelling the sea breeze on your way toward the hilltop to watch the sunset. You can take some snorkeling gear from Iriwa for the day and pick any of Ishigaki's beautiful beaches to have to yourself and meet fantastic creatures and coral palaces just off the beach. You can delve deeper, trek through some brush and bramble, and find an out-of-this-world private beach where you won't see another soul the whole day. Ishigaki is a place to fall in love with your partner, to rediscover your connection to the earth, and to marvel at how wonderful life is. You will get away from it all, and Iriwa is the best place to base your journey on this island. It's full of kind people, peace and quiet. I recommend staying on the second floor in the room "Umi." You can have your coffee on your private balcony in the morning. I really can't give this place enough praise; if I could give words to the profound feelings of joy and love I have in my heart for this place, I would. But, you'll just have to come experience it for yourself.
