It IS quite a road out to Iruya, heading east from National Route 9 onto a provincial road that is gravel, dirt and rock, winding and winding, through magnificent scenery over a 12,000 foot pass....and into Iruya. A short few turns through the town, nestled into the mountains, and up a steep street to the hotel. A relief once you get there, to see a very well-maintained hotel, simple and ample rooms, comfortable beds (nice after the drive) and a beautiful view from the spacious patio. The restaurant does an excellent job and probably the best bet anyway in town. All in all, perfect. Especially to rest up for the return trip!

Very nice location and view. Rooms with view to valley are stunning. Staff is nice and correct. It looks like a one-man show, receptionist, waiter etc. Rooms are clean and in winter time nicely heated. Unfortunately the dinning room was very cold (probably too big for being heated). Nice breakfast. A second toaster would help ;-).|Get ready, the road up the hill is a nice challenge.

Amazing place! Absolutely loved the atmosphere here. Our room was basic, but clean. Met some very friendly locals on the terrace with whom we shared refreshing Salta beers! We ate in and the food was delicious. And so was the wine, of course! The only downside to my stay was the incredible headache I developed during the night, surely because of the altitude. Hey, not the hotel's fault of course, but be prepared: sleeping at more than 9000 feet requires adaptation.

There are not many hotels in this village and most people stay in this hotel. Hotel is simple with small rooms and bathroom. The breakfast was simple. Dinner also not special. You come to this village for the beautiful road and the views. Well worth the long trip. You take the hotel for granted. Service was not good. Checking in: they gave us a room with no view. We specially booked a room with view. When checking out the receptionist wanted us to pay for the room while it was already paid for by our travel company. They only speak Spanish.

We stayed for one night as part of a trip through Salta and Jujuy provinces. Iruya itself, especially the way to get there and the landscape surrounding it, is worth the trip and absolutely amazing. However choices for hotels and restaurants are limited. Hotel Iruya sits on top of a hill and has nice views, and the main lobby looks very promising. However our room was pretty run-down, including the bathroom. It was clean, but definetely needs renovation. We did not manage to get hot water and chose not to take a shower... Breakfast was very simple and the toaster turned out to be a major bottleneck ;-) We also had dinner - the lights didn’t work, hence the room had to be lit with candles and some portable lamps, which wasn’t a big deal but made the atmosphere a bit strange. Food was ok at best, but due to a lack of better options in town, we still decided to eat at the hotel. If there were better places to stay, we would clearly refrain from staying at this hotel again.

My wife and I had the opportunity to visit the small town of Iruya and was pleasantly surprised with the hotel Iruya. The road in the town leading to the hotel is narrow and very steep and definitely not suitable for an inexperienced driver. The hotel staff is very friendly and competent, the rooms is clean and comfortable. The view from the front porch is absolutely breath taking. I will advise travelers to take binoculars along to be able to watch the condors flying. Dinner served in the hotel was very good. The only negative aspect is the WiFi, which is intermittent at best.

Beautiful hotel with amazing views over the village. We had a great two day stay. The room was clean, well prepared and fitting of the standard. The staff were great to deal with and very efficient. Breakfast is a buffet and quite good for a small town hotel. Absolute pleasure to stayed there. The TV in the room was not great but there was enoung to do not to worry about watching TV. We had safe parking for our motorcycles. It is walking distance to town and the little bit up hill is good for the exercise. Beware this is Iruya not London the town doesn't have reliable wifi take cash for payment. It is not guaranteed that the wifi might work for Visa or Mastercard credit payment of accommodation.
