"Old Hawai'i Revealed The Isaacs Art Center is a rare find on the Big Island. It offers a beautiful glimpse into old Hawai'i through paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, and all sorts of other artifacts; some part their permanent collection, others for sale. It's a great place to learn, browse and find a real piece of Hawaiiana to take with you. Best of all, the proceeds go to support local education and scholarships. The gallery is housed in Waimea's first public school structure, built in 1915."
Amazing art center! Mollie and Charlene were super kind to my girlfriend and I, along with the lady at the front desk I forgot to get her name. It was a great experience, if you're lucky enough you'll also get to meet Mr. Siam. Thank you, til next time!

This is one experience that I enjoyed with the kiddos very much. The pieces and the legacy behind all of the exhibts are immesurable. It is a free art gallery. Admission is free. There are curators or guides happy to help and share. They have items, such as jewlery, that can be purchased and all are handmade by local artists and all the pieces for sale and on exhibit are tied to Hawaiian history, the Hawaiian race and are results of artists that have loved the Hawaiian Islands and the people of Hawaii.

Take Isaacs Art Center located in Waimea is a wonderful place to visit. Each room displays authentic art by Hawaiians. The carvings of Master Wood Carvers were especially notable. Furniture, vases and sculptures featured beautiful natural woods. There are also Paintings and other items.

Yelp
Happened to pass by around 2pm on a Thursday and decided to drop in because they were open. Turned out they were having the 2023 Hawaii Wood Guild Masters Show. Wow!
Inside was a variety art forms of impressive quality. Even more interesting looking at the price tags for all these beautiful paintings and various wood works (furniture, bowls, Jewlery boxes).
So impressed by the quality that I will make sure to check if they are having the Wood Guild Masters Show again the next time I visit.

Yelp
Although we have enjoyed this Art Center before it has been very difficult to determine when they are open. In the last 3 weeks we have tried twice to visit during their hours of M-F and each time they have been closed. Very discouraging! Even their web site mentions they were open. If they want support of visitors they need to follow their days and hours. Disappointed too many times!

Yelp
Located in upcountry Kamuela (Waimea) on the big island of Hawaii. The building was built in 1915 and displays historical Hawaiian, featuring many artist. It is a part of Hawai'i Preparatory Academy and provides a venue for people to donate appreciated art and receive the benefits of a charitable donation. The mission of the Isaacs Art Center is to raise money for the benefit of HPA students while giving the community access to art and sculpture and providing students and parents living on the island a cultural learning experience.
