Isalo Rock Lodge

We stayed here mid october for 2 nights but we wished we could have stayed longer.||The Lodge is perfectly located close to the parc and with a magnificent view of the beautiful landscape of this region. All the staff is great and helpful and always smiling and willing to help.||The lodge comprises a main building with a reception, a restaurant and a great bar with an adjacent swimming pool. On the other side of the swimming pool there are 2 or 3 rows of rooms.||Our room was beautiful and spacious and had a large terrace with a magnificent view. The bedroom is large and next to the bedroom is a large open bathroom with whirlpool and a separate shower. The toilet is a separate room which is great.||In the restaurant you can have breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is served at the table and we liked the breakfast. Dinner is a menu where you can choose from. You have 2 or 3 choices for each course and also this was of a great quality.|Lunch you can have also at the bar and you can choose from a large menu.|The bar is nice with a lot of choices, they have a lot of cocktails and they make these cocktails with great diligence (and time), unfortunately there was no blue curacao (this was a disappointment for us).||We also had a massage and this was really great and we can recommend this highly. One warning don't be prudish because you have to take off all your clothes, we didn't mind but if you do be prepared. ||At the end of the hotel there is a stairs up a rock and from the top you have one of the best sunsets you can get. We had here a sunset drink and this was really great and well organised (thanks to the staff).

When we arrived here my friend was sick and we need much support - getting a doctor out, staying an extra night, etc. The staff was truly amazing, giving Madagascar a great name! Got the best massage here - probably the best in the world! Only area lacking is hot water never worked well even after reporting it; and the aircon does not work well. If they step this up, they can go for a 5-star resort :)

This is fantastic lodge and location. The views from the rooms are breathtaking. Be aware that if you book the ECO rate that you only get electricity part of the day (read, no AC when it's off) The staff was good except the restaurant staff tried to add 2 bottles of wine on our bill that we did not order. The manager could not have been more accommodating.

We really loved the modern design of this hotel and its rooms. We loved sitting on our deck just looking out over the rocks. The staff were excellent and the food was great. The bar area was really relaxing. After that awful drive on the RN7 it was a welcome respite.

First of all, the location and view from the hotel is stunningly beautiful and I don’t think you will ever get tired of it. The hotel staff is also very friendly, helpful and generally really pleasant. The lodges or rooms are also spacious and well made, something which I didn’t expect! Despite all of this, it was quite irritating to hear (from a 4-star hotel) that electricity, which naturally includes WiFi and AC, had to be rationed and therefore turned off during most of the day and some hours of the night — which resulted in uncharged electronic devices and very hot rooms. Another very unpleasant experience was the food, which despite being generally alright, lead to us having various degrees of diarrhea and even food poisoning for up to a week, making it rather hard to enjoy the rest of our trip to Madagascar.

A nice place to stay if you fancy some luxury however there is some elements for them to work on. They have an economy option which I didn't realise my room was and that meant we didn't have aircon whilst we were sleeping which is unheard of for a 4 star hotel (this system does not work for a 4 star hotel). The manager was really nice and attentive and I'd highly recommend getting a massage there it was amazing!

Stunning location and views, I loved how the property blends in with the nature around it. The staff is friendly. The rooms are superrrrrr clean and kept supeerrrr clean during your stay (clearly very important for me haha) We stayed for 3 nights and frankly we ate at the hotel restaurant only once because although the food was great, we thought they were expensive for the portions given. There are a few great restaurants in the area that we went to. Otherwise the stay was great!

When booking I was a little worried that the rooms would be ok as the place on the pictures looked a little desolate. Well they were more than ok. The whole place is not desolate at all but beautifully designed to fit into the landscape. The views through the floor to sealing windows is spectacular. |The food was good and the staff welcoming. It is a great place to chill at the pool, hike or bike around or just relax and soke in the landscape.
