I recall it was a much rougher eatery before than it is today. They have renovated the restaurant through and through. Isehiro is a popular #yakitori restaurant that has been around since 1920's near #Kyobashi station business district. It is super hard to find. See that little alley with a gutter in between? That is where I found it lol. That should not even count as a street lol. It does not look like it, but it is actually one of the top rated yakitori place in Tokyo. If you go between 1-1:50pm (yup :50 not sure why lol) the set of 3 yakitori rice bowl is only 1,000 yen. One of my most satisfying $10 lunch in Tokyo! It is so good you can actually smell the place from a block away lol. I just followed the smell to find it. Lol!

Business dinner for 2 on a January Monday evening. We dined at the counter on the 3rd floor with the chef cooking right in front of us. Busy restaurant. Attentive service and good speed of delivery. 8 yakitori courses - probably about 2 courses too many for me, but all well prepared. Some of the chicken cuts may be less palatable to Western tastes (gizzard, skin) but overall good. David W, January 2025

Elegant dining place for delicate Japanese chicken skewer courses as specialty; make sure you arrive earlier to queue before 11:30 for lunch. (We arrived at about 11:15) We had 7 skewers course, everything was delicious and satisfying portion.

Price is a bit expensive for lunch. It is better to visit at least once in this traditional old shop with excellent environment.

The best yakitori I’ve ever had. Be warned, this place is popular. We got here before opening time on a weekday for lunch, and there was already a big queue. It did move quite quickly though, because the place has a few floors. The way this place works is that you can’t pick your exact skewers, you need to order a set (at least for lunch). I got the biggest set of 9 pieces because I wanted to try everything. Everything was great except two skewers that were liver or intestine or something. Besides those, everything was delicious. Random note, but is it just me, or does Japan love to undercook their chicken? I’m not complaining, I haven’t gotten sick yet and it makes the chicken super tender.

This was recommended by a Japanese Foodie . This is the 1st time to watch someone BBQ for me outside of the States. The food taste very very good; Soft on the inside & crunchy on the outside; Each stick of meat have different seasoning. The Staff is very attentive courteous and kind. I would highly recommend making a reservation since this place fills up very fast. Alot of local Japanese of all ages come here; You can bring a friend, date, family, or business here for some good food

Is my first time to be wowed by yakitori. The meat was so soft and delicious. The chef roast the sticks in front of you. Delicious

Delicious. Visited during a family trip and both parents and siblings were satisfied. Juicy and savory taste is excellent. It's amazing how they cook chicken like this! Came in during lunch time on weekday and waited about 30 minutes. Reservation is recommended if possible. Of course, it's so delicious that you'll want to eat it even if you wait. So if you can't make a reservation, make sure to try walk-in. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Atmosphere and service was great. Food tasted good, however I had an assortment of skewers and when I was half way through the Rumaki skewer (chicken liver), I noticed beads of blood on bits of the undercooked organ meat. 48 hours later, I began to deal with a campylobacter infection, that I am still dealing with (a week later). Be careful.

Yelp
It's a hide in the alley way yakitori place specialized in chicken ones. They are super good. The seating is cramped. Downstairs are 2 big table with multiple seats. If you like a Japanese experience go upstairs. It's the tatami seating with smaller tables. Super fun!

Yelp
Since 1921, Isehiro is always popular among Tokyoites. Also well known for the episode film director / gourmet Yasujiro Ozu("Tokyo Story", "An Autumn Afternoon") patronized here. Though there are many good Yakitori restaurants around Ginza / Kyobashi area, this traditional Japanese architecture house is still the best in terms of atmosphere.
