Ishasha Wilderness Camp - Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wow, is all I can say. This place has topped all the places we have stayed in Uganda. So well done, the staff is amazing and so professional. The food is outstanding, and the sunset happy hour is incredible. They bring snacks and set up the bar while you watch the wildlife, amazing. The lodge is great, the tents by the river are so nice and are such an experience. So well done.

Spent two wonderful evenings in Ishasha Wilderness Camp last week. The staff were warm, welcoming and very helpful. The tent was very well appointed and I loved all the details of local crafts and fabric. Very eco conscious as well. The lovely little river rushing past my tent was sublime. The food was also excellent. Best part was sundowners on the ridge complete with private bush toilet set up. Perfect spot for a G&T made with Ugandan gin and of course some g-nuts! Highly recommend!

The location is unmatched and very special. Other strengths include the kindness of the kitchen staff. Overall though, I'd recommend against staying at Ishasha Wilderness Camp. The booking team was non-responsive and generally inconsiderate of concerns raised such as the desire for an armed ranger to be present during the safari given recent armed kidnappings of guests of the lodge. Safari driver/guide was reckless (driving 50% above speed limit) and seemed very focused on the needs of other guests, and he lacked specialized experience or networks in the park to benefit from others searching for animals, unlike safari guides from other similarly reputed lodges. Basic snacks were absent for the game drives. Most requests to booking staff and guide were received as a major chore, lacking the grace and positivity of other lodges, normally finding a reason why the error or shortcoming was my fault -- basic hospitality shortcomings. The food is below average compared to other similarly priced Ugandan lodges.

Unbelievable nice location, nice people, excellent food and excellent service! We have done the full package - sundowner, beautiful evening with candles and wine under the stars ⭐️, morning bush breakfast! Amazing! We love to stay here longer! We will come back one day!

An unforgettable stay from start to finish - and given we started by being greeted with a buffalo grazing just outside our porch that is high praise indeed. The food here was some of the best I have eaten anywhere in the world, let alone in the middle of the African bush. Similarly, the service here was better than some 5* hotels I've stayed in across the globe. The manager of the hotel exuded a positive energy that just immediately made you feel comfortable, and his staff were dedicated to providing a good experience. Ishasha Wilderness Camp was a kind of special I will never forget.

So, you undoubtedly came to QENP to see lions up a tree. So did I. What I did not realise was that this camp was as every bit a destination stop as the lions! Wonderful. On the way to our 'tent' our host had to shoo a buffalo away, and as we sat down outside the tent enjoying a drink, an Elephant went rampaging through the undergrowth across the river. It was an idyllic experience and one that I'll remember. On the subject of experience, the restaurant was first rate. Service was fast and with the professionalism I came to expect of the Uganda tourist training (most excellent). We are still trying to work out how to cook one of their fish dishes! Drinks were plentiful - and very cold. Our staff were just that right side of attentive - there when you wanted them, friendly, but with enough distance that you could enjoy the experience feeling as if you and yours were alone. All in all, a very strong recommendation from myself and my family. Visit them. You will not regret it. (I'll post photos when I can find some)

Extraordinary place! Food and service was truly at fine dining level. Our honeymoon was made special by the excellent staff. Rooms are very comfortable and luxurious. Would definitely recommend!

We adored our stay at this lodge and would definitely go back and for longer. It is the true definition of “glamping” in my opinion. We loved the room, the shower, the fact that Buffalo were outside our room, the breakfast buffet and the attentive warm staff. Highly recommended.
