Isla Grand Beach Resort

Such a beautiful and affordable place. Not going to lie, I was a bit nervous booking a 3 night stay at a beachfront resort for only around $580. I thought the pictures online would have been deceiving. However, everything was so amazing! They let us check in early, our room was just steps from the pool area which was so lovely. The heated pool and hot tub felt so nice. There was lots to do- pickleball, beach walks, a game room with pool, nightly entertainment, and so much more! The only complaint was limited food options for being gluten free. But there were a few great restaurants within walking distance to increase the variety. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a winter getaway. Traveling in the off season was great!

First off this applies to all hotels in SPI, the hotel tax is 17% which is absurd. Second, this hotel tacks on a $25 “resort fee” per day and charges the 17% tax on that as well. This just allows the hotel to show a better rate on search engines than what it really is. So to me that is a scam.||As others have mentioned this hotel is old, it was built in 1959. You can tell it is old but they have done some renovations so the hotel rooms are decent. The grounds are well kept and they do have brand new lighted pickle ball courts and 1 tennis court. Sand volleyball too, one net was tight the other sagging. They do have a game room with two pool tables, 1 foosball table and a couple other games like Galaga. You can check out rackets or a foosball at the front desk. ||They have two pools, the big one is unheated and was 66 degrees, brrrrrr. The other smaller pool was fairly warm but I didn’t measure that one. 3 hot tubs, one was between 102 and 105 (north side of big pool), one was 100 (part of small pool), and another one 93 (north side of big pool). Because it was cold the 102 hot tub was almost always crowded. The 93 degree one which was on the north side of the big pool was pointless to sit in because of its temperature. Another weird thing is the two hot tubs by the big pool have only about 1/3rd seating, the other part you have to stand up. ||The grounds were lit up with colorful lights at night which was very nice. The hotel is right by the beach so if you can get a first floor room on the two buildings not part of the tower it is a nice quick walk. If you are on the second floor not so much, you have to exit the back of the room and then walk around the building to get to the pool or beach. Towels are provided but you will need to bring your own beach chairs and shade. ||They did have a nightclub with a bar on the second floor and a small bar on the 1st floor. Restaurant was nice and the food was good, but expect it to be expensive. ||No problems with the staff, all nice and professional. ||Overall if you can get a good deal in comparison to the other “resorts” I’d say it is ok. If the price is the same go somewhere else.

If you’re reading reviews and thinking “some people are just complainers,” don’t be foolish like I was. This place is actually that bad. It honestly ruined our trip. First, kudos to the front desk staff — they were kind, helpful, and did everything they could to accommodate us. This is not their fault. They genuinely tried, and I appreciate that. Unfortunately, the issue is the building itself, the condition of the rooms, and likely ownership. Our first room had dirty sheets and paper-thin walls. The couple next door fought for hours with their kids screaming all night. While that isn’t the hotel’s fault, we asked to be moved. We were relocated to Room 112, which reeked of mold, had geckos inside, and wet, dirty towels everywhere. We later realized the towels were wet because the ceiling was actively leaking. Maintenance arrived and began working on it at 11:30 PM. We were moved yet again to Room 208, which was just as unacceptable — moldy carpet, a terrible smell, and a massive sugar ant infestation. All of our groceries were ruined. When we called to ask what could be done, spraying the room with pesticides was suggested. Given the time and the fact that we didn’t want to sleep in chemicals, we declined. The rooms have only one blackout curtain, meaning you’re either in complete darkness or fully exposed — there is zero privacy. At one point, someone was on our balcony, which was unsettling and unexplained. The photos and positive reviews must be coming from the condos, because if your reservation is for an ocean view or one room / one bed, this is not what you should expect. We ultimately left early just to salvage one peaceful day of our vacation, only to discover our luggage had been infested with sugar ants. Please save your money and stay elsewhere. A hotel has never brought me to tears before — this one did.

FALSE ADVERTISING at its finest. My husband and I are celebrating our 20th anniversary and decided to take a weekend trip. After looking at all photos and reviews we decided to book here. Pulling up to the hotel it looks like everything we thought we were getting until…we saw the motel-esque room they gave us. First off, their “King bed with an ocean view” is in a completely separate 2 story building completely away from the nice resort style hotel you think you are booking. It looks like something you could book for $39 off the side of the highway. The room is tiny and carpeted and reeks of year old smelly feet carpet. The balcony was ocean view with a huge palm tree in front of your actual view. Maybe if my husband sat on one side and I sat on the other we’d be able to view the ocean. The brown couch in the room was old and saggy and has definitely seen better days. The walkway to the room is crumbling and cracked. A complete let down. I returned to the front desk and told Vanessa nicely that I would like to cancel and was told since I booked through Expedia I would have to go through them. I called Expedia, who in turn called the property and they were put on hold and finally hung up on. After asking to speak with the manager, Imelda we were basically told we could take another crappy room in their motel building or pay another $185 for a 2bd 2bth condo on top of the $200 we already paid. I explained our side of the argument and told her google does not show anything like what they gave us and she explained that part has not been renovated. That would be great to know before booking. Unfortunately, I had to bite the bullet and take the non refundable cancellation fee and came to Holiday Inn where the rooms are cheaper, cleaner and more upgraded. I would NEVER recommend this hotel to any of our friends and family visiting South Padre. Beware before booking sight unseen.

We had a lovely stay here - relaxing and fun. The bar staff are amazing and we really enjoyed it.||On our first night we made the mistake of eating in the restaurant. The food was fine, and the room was almost empty. They serve till 9 but just after 8 the sweeper comes out and they start to clean the carpet under the table next to us. Back and forth endlessly. I asked them to stop but they said they were just trying to get ahead. Never mind the paying customers sitting right there.||The next day we had breakfast at Yummys (wonderful) and dinner at the Japanese restaurant next door where the staff were pleased to see us and waited until we’d gone to clean up. The chef there is brilliant. A much better evening!

My wife and I went here for our honeymoon, we weren’t expecting anything super crazy just a nice get away. To begin, there was an issue with our 2nd floor, “beach-view” room when we arrived so they moved us to a 1st floor “beach-view” room which we were fine with until we got in. The room is very basic, however the only outside light comes from the exterior wall that is all glass, and with the blinds open passersby can see clearly into the room. Because of this and the bed situation we asked to move to another room with a king bed like we originally requested. They said there was one room available with the configuration we wanted so we took it. This is when we realized there is no elevator for the “beach-view” or “beach-front” rooms on the second floor… Before moving in we checked the room out, it was right across from the bar patio, because of this the same privacy issue was still present. The room also had a “skunky” smell to it….. I’m glad we went to check before carrying all of our things up stairs to say the least. When we went back to the front counter the ladies informed us this would be our last time “moving” even though the issues stemmed from their side. We settled for the next room they gave us. The patios on the second floor also lack privacy if the people on either side of you are out on their patios since the sides aren’t completely blocked off. At one point the neighbor looked over directly into our room while we had the blinds half open. Other than these issues, the rooms are very basic with some blemishes throughout but they’ll do, they also don’t have microwaves which is inconvenient for leftovers. The beach access is great, very short walk with showers to rinse yourself and your things off once you come back. The pool is nice, smaller than it looks in pictures and there are no personal coolers allowed (not a big deal there’s a bar). The poolside bar isn’t exactly “poolside” but it’s easy enough to get to. The onsite bar has a club vibe, which works if that’s what you’re into. The restaurant was good and the room service was quick and good as well. I also noticed a lack of security cameras around the side parking lots as well as around the general area. Overall I’d call this a beachfront hotel rather than a resort. When we checked out the staff was much more friendly. We ended up having to pay a cleaning fee for one of the rooms we “moved” into and immediately out of. In the end, this place definitely does not look like the pictures online. I would recommend it as long as you know what you’re getting into.

Disappointing experience despite great location - My wife and I stayed here February 4–8 (4 nights). The location is excellent — beachfront, great views, easy access to the sand, and the staff we interacted with were generally friendly. The on-site restaurant was good, reasonably priced, and parking was adequate. Unfortunately, several issues significantly detracted from the experience. On the afternoon of our second day, we found two live cockroaches in our room — the large (1-2") variety common to South Texas. I reported this immediately to the front desk. The response was polite but noticeably unconcerned; I was told someone would “check into it,” but we were never informed whether anything was done. On day three, we then found additional live beetles in the bathroom sink, which was unsettling given the earlier report. Sorry, but seeing live bugs for a day or two is a pest control failure. At checkout on our final morning, we had no hot water, even after letting it run for about 20 minutes. When I mentioned this to the front desk, the response was simply, “Yeah, sorry,” with no follow-up or acknowledgment. The resort charges a daily resort fee, which I understand is common. However, the value didn’t match the explanation. Housekeeping offered towels and coffee packets daily, changed sheets once during the stay, and the replacement sheets were stained. Paying a daily resort fee, I expected at least basic cable or local channels for news and sports. Instead, the room TV was a smart TV/Fire Stick setup that required guests to log into their own streaming accounts to watch anything at all. That feels misaligned with what a “resort fee” is supposed to cover when paying extra for “resort” amenities. The hot tubs were open, but not heated the first two days due to repairs. When they were operational, they were only lukewarm — nowhere near typical hot tub temperatures. The gym was decent and the beach access is genuinely nice, but those positives didn’t offset the overall experience. I spoke with a manager on duty (Javier) after our stay. He acknowledged the issues but said exterminators likely treated the units after we left and offered to give us a better rate if we return. While appreciated, that felt dismissive given the nature of the problems during our stay. I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews, but the combination of pests, lack of hot water, and indifferent responses makes it hard to recommend this property at its current price point. With better attention to cleanliness, maintenance, and guest concerns, this could be a great place — but it wasn’t this time.

Ms. V. Martinez was the best helping me with the reservations for a large group attending a conference at the island's convention center. Making sure the guests had great rooms and not issues at the check-in time. Highly recommend contacting her for all your reservation needs.

Isla Grand Beach Resort is a great place to stay. The resort offers No Resort Fee, Free Breakfast, and Free welcome Gifts at check-in. Their customer service never hang up on customers and do not make guests wait on the phone for more than one hour. All charges are clear with detailed receipts. Overall, Isla Grand Beach Resort is great, remember to ask for your Free breakfast!!

Title: Roach-Infested Rooms, Dirty Sheets, Zero Accountability - Isla Grand Resort is a Health Hazard I don't even know where to begin. This resort knowingly checks guests into roach-infested rooms and acts completely unbothered when confronted about it. I have video evidence attached below because this experience was so unbelievable it had to be documented. Day 1 - False Advertising and Dirty Room Check-in was smooth enough and we were given Room 128, advertised as an "Ocean View Suite." That was misleading at best--you get maybe a sliver of ocean if you lean the right way. The room was outdated, the bathroom shower floor looked stained and dirty (not from poor cleaning alone but from being old and neglected). We tried to give the resort a fair chance and went to dinner at their restaurant, Windjammer. My shrimp po' boy was served on stale bread. For the price, there are far better food options off property. The comedy show that night was actually great--but that was the only highlight of this entire stay. Night 1 - First Big Axx Roach Returning to our room, we were greeted by a Big Axx Roach running across the floor. We're from Texas--we know roaches--but this thing was bold and comfortable like it paid rent. We killed it and tried to move on, but then pulled back the sheets to find stains on the bed linens. We called the front desk three times over nearly an hour before housekeeping finally showed up--only to hand us sheets and walk away without a word. No apology. No offer to remake the bed. Nothing. Second Big Axx Roach Ten minutes later--another one. This time coming from under the couch where our luggage was. At that point, it was clear this wasn't a random bug. There was a roach problem. We went to the front desk and requested another room. The staff didn't even act surprised. No shock. No concern. Just handed us a new room key like they already knew what was happening in that wing. Room 264 - Still Roaches We moved to Room 264 on the second floor, where we were told there was "less chance for bugs to reach." That statement alone was a red flag. So you're admitting you know bugs are an ongoing problem here? We spent most of our time avoiding the room. But on Sunday night--it got worse. Roaches Coming Out of the Wall We discovered exactly where they were coming from--inside the wall. They were literally crawling out and heading straight to the trash can like it was part of their daily route. I have videos of this attached below. At this point, we went back downstairs again--exhausted and disgusted. Only then did management finally admit that: * They know about the roach infestation * 17 rooms are being "decommissioned" due to this problem * They only fumigate once a month * They would now be adding Room 128 (our first room) to the list--days after we reported it So they knew. And they still checked us in there. That is deceptive, negligent, and unsanitary. They offered to move us to a third room like this was some game of "Let's See Which Room Has Fewer Roaches." At that point, we packed and made arrangements to move to the Marriott. As a "gesture," they removed one night from our bill and gave 20% off another night. That is insulting considering the health risk and complete lack of sanitation and care. I could not sleep. I could not relax. I am still disgusted that my children were even on this property. Final Thought This was not an inconvenience--this was a health violation. This resort is knowingly booking guests into infested rooms and not warning anyone--not cleaning it up--just rotating people through rooms they know are compromised. If I could give this place less than 1 star, I would. This is a health hazard--do not stay here.

The Isla grand beach resort experience was amazing thanks to the wonderful bartender at the whiskey shack! Raphael was very friendly and made beautiful drinks! He was very accommodating! :)

Awful service with "managers" that can't seem to explain why they charge $40 for two drinks, so instead they just say "that's how it is." When I brought to their attention that I had a buy one get one free coupon, they found a way to still charge more almost double what I would've been paying typically. Do not buy drinks from them!

My hopes for this hotel were high. It came highly recommended by a client so I booked a two night stay. It was my friend's 50th birthday so I wanted it to be special for her. I stayed off season so the room was affordable (under $100 per night). In season - same room is between $250-$300. Check in went fine, however they offered a drink voucher that was aggravating. Will explain at the end. We booked ocean front, however the ocean is over 200 yards from the room so... Our room was one of the cabanas which is on the ground floor - away from the main building. After a long exhausting day of driving we got to our room to shower and go to the restaurant for a bite to eat. Shower water was lukewarm warm at best. Didn't mention it as I thought maybe all the hot water was used up. It wasn't because it was never hot. Both nights the temperature was the same. For a grand resort I expect better. Moving on - went to the restaurant/bar and had a nice time. Our server Tony was amazing. Called the manager over to let him know how great Tony was and he was less than interested. So back to the "buy one drink, get a drink free." Thought that was cool until I read the voucher. It had to be utilized at a specific bar and drinks had to ordered from a specific menu (nothing I was interested in and each drink was $18.00). When the bartender explained the voucher and we stated we were not interested we walked away. As we were walking, we hear the bartender talk to someone else at the bar (possible manager or vendor) "wow, they are complaining about $18 for a drink." I let it go, however my friend went back and told him he needed an attitude adjustment. The front desk should explain the voucher better to avoid this in the future. We ended up at the outside bar and had some fabulous Bloody Mary's. Housekeeping only comes to replace towels and empty trash daily, Full service is just on Thursdays. Around 5:00 p.m. when we got back from a beach walk our room had not been serviced. Front desk said they were running late. Room coffee is gross. If you can, bring your own coffee maker - especially for long stays. The location is amazing. The walk to the beach is reasonable and the dunes are beautiful. Pools are fabulous and well maintained. Rooms are okay nothing to expand on. Two irritants were the "night" light in the bathroom that never turns off and the mattress back boards (the base is too high and the pillows fall behind the bed). Centrally located near restaurants and bars which was nice. If you are looking for an amazing experience - stay somewhere else. If a funky vacation is okay - this place will work. I definitely would not pay $250-$300 in season for the same room. Don't get me started on their single ply toilet paper. Not so grand.

Came here for a 4 day birthday beach vacation with the family. First impression-- it's outdated and the staff isn't exactly helpful or welcoming. After reading the reviews I was very leery of our room, but our room was ok. The first thing I noticed when entering the room was a strong scent of bug spray, thankfully-- no bugs! The pool area was nice, but the water looked unclean, pool chairs were old and the pool lights went out on the shallow end one night-- making it too dark to see. Overall, not the best experience to recommend.

The location on the beach was amazing and the pools were great. Our room was ideally located away from the pool with a partial beach view. The restaurants were empty with no staff available to direct us. Over the weekend the pool area became loud and rowdy and full of kids. The lady next door had 2 large dogs. We won't stay there again.

Spent a few nights here in a 2 bedroom condo in July 2024. Found the accommodation to be okay, but the restroom smelled are full, like chemicals after the shower ran. The property was ochaiand had a strong smell by the door to the pool. There were tar balls on the pool deck and on the pool chairs. Also, the front desk staff were not very welcoming at check-in, nor helpful when I asked about excursions and rentals. Did have a good time at the beach and on the island, but will try another lodging option next time.

I would not recommend this place... a three ring circus is more like it. I'm currently listening to a dog (yes a dog) in the room next to me barking for the last 2 hours . A dog in the room below us crying ... the loudest DJ playing some event - rooms are so dated (but clean), at check-in at 4pm rooms were not ready we had to wait 2 hours to get our room. We are out at the casitas by the pool and it's super loud .... Lots of families with small coolers eating poolside but when I carried my small pack cooler up from the beach which was empty I was asked to leave the pool bc coolers weren't allowed (mind you our had nothing in it and we were drinking drinks from the bar)... i think if you are a big partier you might like this place but don't stay here if you are looking to relax

What the heck kind of resort has a policy that you can't book rooms that are adjoining or close to each other? Trying to book 3 rooms for a week this summer and they're telling us that they cannot guarantee proximity because it's "against policy". Ridiculous.

Would give zero stars if possible. Hot water takes forever and runs out fast. Bar prices are ridiculous they think this place is Waldorf Astoria, but is Motel 6. Terrible service by staff. Seems the whole purpose of this place is pool parties. They start at noon with the Booming BASS / RAVE crap to around 5 then they come back with even louder BASS / RAVE crap from 9 pm to 2 am even on weeknights! Building vibrates and walls don't block music. Had to try and get sleep when possible, ruined vacation completely. They do this "entertainment" most nights. If you are not deaf or hard of hearing, ignorant or just think BASS is amazing, stay the heck away from this place.

This place is a "no" for me. Here for a conference and this was the host hotel. Seriously dated, the least friendly front desk staff I've ever encountered, gross rooms, bugs that could easy be sprayed for, housekeeping service nearly non existent. They would add towels but nothing else and bed unmade every day. Mold in showers, stained beach towels galore, and what can only be described as blood spatter across bathroom cabinets! Would never voluntarily stay here.

The photos are misleading. The rooms are outdated. The facade in the front is a high rise, but the actual rooms are motel 6 type in the back behind the high rise. People smoking in balconies, spoke to the staff , not very helpful

You guys need to add zero stars on here the toilet was off its hinges we had to beg for them to pop some popcorn and also there isn't a microwave in the room the staff wasn't very attentive the rooms weren't very clean the pool and hot tub are very dirty choose any other place then this FUCKING what a joke you guys need to add zero stars on here again and if you guys reply and you guys get angry that's on you cry about it and stay mad you idiots need to learn from five Star reviews from other better places

Do not stay here. It's disgusting and definitely not a resort. I did not take pictures because I don't want to remember it. Stains on curtains, carpet was disgusting, bugs... i think they were ants in the bathroom and counter top in the room. Pool was fine except guards telling us to get out of the pool to get new wristbands ... even though we were staying another day. I didn't eat any of the food so unsure about that. Staff looked like they hated their job.

Stayed in "Cabana beach front" no microwave in room, fitness center a joke , no kids club , front desk not inviting or informative- had to carry luggage and all are stuff up stairs and a long way to back of "resort"- had to pay for umbrella, chairs- pool area was small- would not stay again just disappointing / not what I was expecting

I booked a room at the Isla Grand for two nights while visiting family that winter here from Wisconsin. I went off of a recommendation from a friend who told me to not read reviews and just check it out. Im glad I did. We will definitely come back next year, probably for longer. For the price they book their king garden view rooms at (approx $100 off-season rate) there isn't a better deal on this island. Those that live here and visit here, know that stucco cracks and metal rusts. Paint fades and cracks quickly. It takes constant maintenance to keep up these facilities, especially with how spring breakers treat the place. Cosmetic issues will always be present in buildings of this age. They had it all looking very nice when we went. Clean linens, cold AC, but the hot water took a full minute to get warm (it got HOT though).. I had virtually no issues that other's have had. My son and I loved the pools and the beach is 100 yds from the courtyard. We caught waves and rays all day without leaving the grounds once! All in all a great trip and a great deal to stay at the Isla Grand. It's within walking distance to the main drag and has great restaurants located 2 mins away by foot. I was really impressed. Don't listen to the 1 star review bombers. See for yourself!

Avoid this place at all costs. Outdated, unkept, leaking doors and windows. AC doesn't work had to go by a fan to accommodate a reasonable temperature below 76. The fix for Isla grand is move to another room. Each from is just as bad if not worse than the last. Management (Sabrina) is hostile and gives no resolution to any complaint. Do not stay here, I found a pair of glasses under a side table that have been in here for god knows how long.

I have been here for one night so far and can attest that the walls are paper thin People screaming at ten pm outside and I can hear my neighboring rooms toilet flush Like literally as if it is in my own room I shouldn't be able to hear my neighbors having a conversation I have read the other roach reviews and while I have not seen one yet I will 100% be the one screaming next

I had my wedding at the isla grand 4/12, they made it one of the best days of my life. Ivan the f&b manager totally created a wonderful experience and hannah the bartender made delicious drinks for the party. I would recommended working with them 1000 times over!!

Yiiiiikes. Outdated, falling apart, grimy. And the noise, I am not from TX I had no idea there would be BLASTING bass til 2am every night. Never again!

The service staff do not have it together here. The body language of staff was that of running rigid. There needs to be a matre De or someone with authority over hourly staff.

Beenung coming to South Padre for 24 yrs .my first receptionist Vanessa was wonderful helped any way she could n did a great job wanting to stay all month if February went back to extend our stay U met with Jorge pardo. I took a chance on Isla Grand despite the less than favorable reviews because it was something different than what we've previously booked in SPI. Overall, this is a pretty decent resort with a good concept and a certain charm; it just in desperate need of more renovations and is a bit out of date. We stayed in a King Beachview room with a patio(that barely had a view of the beach, but it was one of the updated units) - I loved the room except for the fact that it had no microwave. I have been in motels that had microwaves, so for a "resort" to not have one is extremely disappointing. The heated pool was just as cold as the regular pool and the hot tub had bubbles but no heat. There are a lot of things about their advertising that is very misleading and they need to be more transparent going forward. The staff at the front desk were super nice and handled any request I had during my time which made up for a lot. After checking in, their system tried to charge me for extra amenities fees randomly at 9pm that night - even after I confirmed with the front desk that I pre payed for my whole stay a week before and didn't need to pay anything else, signed a paper with the total I was obligated to pay, which had absolutely no mention of amenities fees. They also have a cabana on site that rents beach umbrellas and chairs on the resort's plot on the beach for $40 every day you stay - for all the money we pay, this absolutely should be included in our stay or it should be $40 for the entirety of the stay for customers, especially when the resort is obviously lacking in certain areas. I still had a great vacation, enjoyed our room and was at the beach for most of our stay. I wouldn't book this hotel again until after they've done a complete makeover and maintenance of their property. Next year, I'll be choosing a more updated hotel/resort.

Isla grand is always a 5 stars out of 5 they are the place to be at . They have a bar quarter deck awesome laid back bar. They have a restaurant wind jammers it ain't the best but good enough not to drive anywhere else . They have a great pool and a heated pool and a bar next to the pool . The only reason I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars is this past time on our last day there they had some work being done in the room below us they where cutting concrete it started at 9am and they did not stop till 6pm so they ruined our rest and relaxation . We could not go anywhere because the artic freeze had hit other than that we had a great time .

0 stars- listen to reviews!!! Skip this place and stay anywhere else! Check in was at 4, we arrived at 6:15ish and our room was not ready. We were there for a wedding and had an evening dinner to get ready for and we traveled with pets- they wouldn't work with us at all. Our room was okay- it was a great location and extremely dog friendly as there was a little patio and grassy areas right outside our door. Our room had some bugs, the water pressure was horrible in the shower. Room service skipped our room the second day and no one was able to bring us extra towels until around 9pm on our last night there. The food was horrible and incredibly overpriced for what you get. Drinks were the same. No bars would give you a cup of water either- they were selling Walmart/Sam's club brand water bottles instead. Super annoying. The lobby was embarrassing- especially for a "resort" and the ~$300 nightly rate. It was trashy and smelly, literally. The parking area reeked of sewer smell. The swimming pool was nice, but the pool water smelled so bad, even rinsing our swimsuits wasn't enough to get the smell out, we left our suits on the patio. The towel service was also embarrassing- the towels were ratty and stained. Also smelled mildewed. The front desk staff were tacky every time I interacted with them. One lady was extremely condescending when explaining where our room was (again, this was around 7pm the night we arrived before we got our keys...FOR A WEDDING BLOCK RESERVATION!) The entire place was run by young people, which was fine, but the service you received was as such. Not great for what you pay. The childish behavior (texting, flirting, self grooming etc) ruined the beautiful landscape and scenery the hotel offered outside. Go literally any where else!

Some friends and I attempted to enjoy the Thanksgiving Dinner buffet 11/2024. Long story short, we had to dine elsewhere. We did not stay at the hotel, but if the restaurant management and service for the hotel is the same as for the restaurant, then avoid this place at all costs! I left a review for the restaurant so please refer to it.

We were able to check in an hour early. Bellman was super friendly. Our room had a water leak so they just moved us immediately. One remote was not programmed to the tv, but they showed up within 10 minutes of calling and fixed it. We would stay again. I would recommend they have more umbrellas at the pool area. The sun can be pretty intense.

Very bad service. Room was set to be ready at 4 p.m but we got it at 7 p.m . Room was not cleaned. Room smelled dirty. Room without blinds.

If I could I would give this place negative stars, oh man was that a bad experience. Whatever you do do not book this hotel please listen to the reviews. My first room had roaches pictures attached. Then since I booked through AMEX the front desk said there was nothing they can do but moved me to a worse room that had sand in the bed. We checked in at 10 o'clock at night where did the sand come from, do they even try to clean their rooms. Way over priced for a very underwhelming experience. Listen to the reviews people. For a lack of better words this place is trash, straight dumpster fire!

This place was ok. For almost $400 a night i would expect more, but i didnt get it. At least it was clean, good access to the beach, and no bugs... I hated all the constuction going on. I didnt like that none of the washing machines on site worked. The bathrooms out by the pool area where not being cleaned regularly so pretty disgusting.. The restuaurant onsite was good. We ate some burgers from there one night and they were good. Nothing special.

Over priced for what you get. The hotel rooms are outdated and falling apart. They are currently renovating the exterior of the resort but that definitely does not reflect the price. It's dirty and grungy. You don't get a resort feel at all. I contacted the hotel about noise level before we arrived because I was worried we'd be kept up by the nightly music they play and was reassured that the music ends at a decent time... it doesn't! We could hear music till almost 3am every night we were here. We had the Saturday all you can eat dinner buffet and the food was mediocre, the restaurant couldn't even serve us a sangria. You have to pay $40 for an umbrella and 2 seats on the beach. We were 7 people... Definitely won't be back. For the amount of money we spent here for 3 nights, we could've had much better vacations.

Positive: the grounds are beautiful! Our room faces the pool and you walk a few feet out the door and can see the Gulf. Gorgeous! Bed and pillows are very comfortable. The room looks great. Negative: roaches!! No hot water. I let the water run in the shower and in the sink and it didn't get warm. TV remote turns the tv off and on. However neither the remote buttons or the buttons on the side of the tv would work to do anything. No channels. Just a menu that you couldn't move on. Thermostat is set on 65 and won't go up or down. The room phone does not work. Neither does my sister's in a different building. To top it off when I asked for a different room because of all these things, I wasn't even offered an apology! If you just want to sleep and don't mind roaches, it's good. If you expect to get the kind of room you're paying for, you might be very disappointed. My sister's room is much better though. Guess you just have to get lucky. Next time we're definitely staying somewhere else.

If I could give this "grand beach resort" 0 stars I would. Walls paper thin, we could hear every word each room neighbor was saying, along with people outside just having normal conversations. We had the largest cockroach that I have ever seen in our room (222). Went to tell the front desk, and they seemed less than interested. They didn't seem concerned at all, must be a common complaint... said that they were going to send maintenance to the room to "spray it". Didn't even apologize/offer anything. We went back to the room for 30+ minutes, and nobody came. We packed up our things and left. Dropped off the room keys at the front desk and they seemed surprised that we were checking out. I do not recommend staying at this "resort", choose anywhere but here.

Pros: The internet is quick. Close proximity to good restaurants. Easy access to the beach. Best surf shop in town is on the same road. Cons: Marsupials in the lobby. Their beachfront had broken glass in the sand, lots of it. The building shows age on the interior and exterior. It's highly doubtful the management has a degree in hospitality or business. The place is no resort. If you're a savvy world traveler I recommend you skip this *cough* destination. They're performing some structural renovations at the moment. So if you don't like peace and quiet, get there now. It's good they're maintain the building, but a notice on booking would be the polite and honest thing to do. Unless you're financially challenged and getting a great deal with a Groupon I can't advise staying here.

Great resort , pools were large and perfect for families, the access to beach was exclusive to the resort so no unnecessary foot traffic. The resort goes to great lengths to keep the amenities exclusive to resort guest and there are no shortages on bar access for the adults. The restaurants offer great food and vibes as well as the night club. The rooms were clean and ample , the ac blew cold and the fridge kept cold.

Isla Grand Beach Resort was the worst experience I've ever had. You pay significantly more just because it carries Resort in its name. The whole hotel is super out dated, rotten pieces left and right. Mold growing on the outside of the ac vents, carpet in the rooms seems as they've never been replaced, bath tubs full of gunk from years of accumulation, roaches throughout the hotel, beds are super small ( a little bigger than a twin). I went to the resort to see if the could let me check in earlier than 4pm due to family visiting with us from out of town. Front receptionist Maria stated she would be able to check me in right away so I canceled my reservation with the Courtyard ( biggest mistake). She told me to stand by to check me in ( time was 1pm), they were not able to check me in until 4:47( this was even after their own check in time); the only reason I got my room key was because I went to the front desk and told them the cleaning lady stated she was done cleaning the room we were assigned to. It's insane how they charged $380 and some change for a horrible hotel and for less than a full day. I ended up with horrible allergies from the mold. The pool area is beautiful, I give them that but if you don't mind where you sleep or if you end up with some kind of fungus from the bathroom tub or floors you'll be okay. Don't let this place steal your money as there are a lot more places on the island that are 100% b

we have stayed here 3 years in a row and never had any problems. this time was different. the room we booked was for 2 beds but they gave us a king with a pull out bed. it was a small one at that! my brother had a king room with a pull out sofa bed way bigger than ours! when I complained about it they said sorry but was full and couldn't accommodate us. this was Saturday, on Sunday we asked at least can we get a day bed brought in and they said yes be right over, well they never showed up so I called Monday morning they said yes again with no apology, Monday late afternoon we stopped by the room and still no bed called again and they said on the way. Tuesday morning I called again still no bed, no one answered so we gave up. when we checked out I told them we no longer needed the bed and they said ok. that's it no apologies no explanation of why it never came or anything, Next, the service we had in the past was top notch! this time it was obvious no one wanted to be there, very slow service at the restaurant and everything tasted old, the cheese had mold on it! the pool was so crowded with locals without wrist bands it wasn't very enjoyable so we only went once. the security guards there didn't mind at all they talked to the several times. only good time we had was when we where away from the hotel! we did try and tell the front desk staff of our displeasure in a kind way but they showed they had no care in the world. we where just another upset customer. After 4 years we have decided to try other resorts next time.

Stayed one night IN ROOM 507 and woke up with +/- 20 BEDBUG bites on my back, shoulder, arms, and hands. I've never had these before so I VERIFIED WITH DR. Management was indifferent at best. If an infestation is fairly new, it is very difficult to find evidence on the bedding or furniture but they claim they need that to address it IN ANY WAY. We had to pack our belongings in plastic trash bags and treat them at a laundromat before taking them back home. That is a lot to ask a paying customer. We won't be back.

DO NOT STAY HERE! BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE! ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE! I am currently staying here! I came here to have fun and enjoy my stay. It is upsetting because, this room is supposed to be a vacation. The room is disgusting. I am staying along the sides of the resort where my room looks out onto the pool. I will be posting this review everywhere it's important to know the room you are paying for could possibly be one the worst places you've stayed. The front desk is kids who don't know how to handle big customer service issues. The bathroom! The light shades are dusty, and have so much dirt. The bathroom toilet did not look clean upon my arrival and I used toilet paper in order to use the bathroom. I repeat I used toilet paper TOILET PAPER to use my bathroom that I am paying for. The bathroom has mold spores and it is disgusting. There was an ant in the bathroom. The bedroom is subpar and the blankets are very outdated. There is lint and dust behind the bed frames. The walls are cracking and not clean. There are ants crawling in the bed and the bathroom. The resort outside with the pools and having access to the beach is nice. The pools are large and the beach is beautiful walking down to. I am going to approach the staff about the issues I am having, hopefully will come back to update this post with good news. OVERALL if you have made it this far this place is OUTDATED if you looking for a place to stay and rest your head go ahead. I would NOT recommend this place to my worst enemy. Also I have looked at other reviews is the owner actually offering solutions to these issues? It seems as if the reviews get the same answer just catered to whatever the issue is. Is money being refunded? Are the issues of cleanliness really being looked into? UPDATE: I spoke to the front desk the same night and they stated they would be in contact at 9AM for a new room! WE DID NOT GET A NEW ROOM.

This is not a "resort". It is sticky, dirty and dated. The front desk staff could care less. The rooms are very dated and basic (we had a roach in our room at one point). The pool water was dirty and murky and there was food floating around in it every day that we were there. The hotel pool towels are ALL old and frayed (really??? The "resort" can't spring for new towels every few years??). The beach is ok (watch out for jellyfish) but be prepared to pay a daily fee to rent a lounge chair and umbrella. We had a family above us whose kids loved to throw food off their balcony to the seagulls in the morning right in front of our door. Yup, bird poop and feathers everywhere-lovely. The only positive thing about this place is room cleaning staff--they are super--so nice and efficient. If you are looking to stay somewhere relaxing, look elsewhere.

AVOID this place at all cost! $350 a night is WAY OVER PRICED! We prepaid for a week and that was the worst mistake I ever made. Housekeeping is LACKING on a normal basis, adding in the "extra sanitation" expecting due to COVID, we were horrified at the room conditions. I don't have the time to write an extensive review but needless to say I could not give me a zero star. Condo 1209 is in horrible condition. The lobby smells, everything is dirty and very outdated in the common areas and condo. Staff apologizes for delay in responding to room service, etc because of being under staff. We're there for a whole week, yet we need to call housekeeping daily for new towels? Was the hotel expecting us to reuse towels after being at the pool and beach all day? This one does. There's no daily cleaning of the room. What a shock. Not going to harp on the broken a/c or horrible 20 year old beds we suffered through this week! The best part of out trip was waking up early this morning to drive home. NEVER AGAIN!

Anniversary ruined!! Worst resort ever!!! 1star is way to generous!!! It may take effort to do something right and take pride in it but these guys don't care!!! Your nothing but a burden to this staff. The entire staff needs to be fired and a complete new one brought in!! The owners should be embarrassed at the lack of service. The staff is extremely rude and discourteous. I asked and paid Champaign a strawberries to be waiting in the room to celebrate our 10 anniversary, they were not. The desk clerk tried to blame me for them not being ready, saying we were checking in to early at 4:30 in the evening. Rooms are outdated and walls are paper thin. You can literally hear the conversations of the people in the next room. If they stay up late or have small children your not going to get much sleep. The constant smell of marijuana caused my wife allergies to trigger and we couldn't even enjoy the beach. The staffs attitude was to just deal with it. Maid service is sporadic at best, 7 days they showed up to clean twice and that was only after the wife chased them down and tipped them extra. The neighbors dog barked constantly!! The managements solution to all of this was to move "us" to a room with out a view (we planned and payed for months in advance) or a room near where they were doing construction. My wife and I travel a lot and I have to say this is one of the worst places I have ever stayed. The room and lack of amenities and. Broken down rooms might be tolerable but the staff will literally have you want to call the cops on them!! The beach towels they have look like someones dog has been using them for years!! I didn't check the reviews for this place to see how bad it was here, don't make the same mistake I did. Take the advice of not just my review but all these other unsatisfied customers, they are telling the truth. You will not get what you pay for at this poor excuse of a resort... For added context. The dog videos were taken at all different times. Each video is several minutes long but this app will only show about 12 seconds.

The website is a bait and switch- the actual status of this motel is nothing like the "resort" portrayed on the website. This place is bad. Not the, "well this resort is not great, but the pool and beach kinda makes it worth it," kinda bad. Like no this place is actually bad and not worth the price point even though the pool is ok and the beach is right there. My wife and I are not snobby people. We have stayed in Super8s, Motel 6s on our road trips- they're not great but fine. The Isla Grand Beach Resort? Well the experience was so bad it left us longing for the comfort and cleanliness of the last Motel 6 we stayed at. This place is just bad. Gross. Your bathroom and thus your entire room smells like sewage gross. SEWAGE. It ain't worth it. Like run. Mold. Run. Thin walls. Bad margaritas. PLEASE. The sheets smelled. SAVE YOURSELVES! The walls paint is falling off. Please dear god you still have a chance don't do it. SEWAGE SMELL. Please I'm begging you have mercy! But in all seriousness just gross and so overpriced. The Sewage room smell and quality wasn't even worth the $69 a night-winter rate. The staff are nice and kind, but the problem is with the physical plant and the bones of this resort: major and likely costly renovations would be required to make the facilities nice again. My only conclusion is that it appears the owner/company would rather rely on tricking spring breakers and families into thinking they are booking the hotel seen on the website vs. this underfunded, outdated, and rotting motel. Again- we were disappointed at $69 and $149 a night for the two nights we were here. Can't imagine how disappointed I'd be if we paid $350+!

The durable furniture uncomfortable resort. Hard no comfort seating anywhere as well as the rooms. Hard chairs that will last forever but no comfort. Certainly no where near a Grand Resort. Poor service if you can even find any. Four bars onsight, maybe one bartender that knows what he is doing. Forget finding a Mimosa or a bloody mary before Noon. Oysters Rockefeller from the Cafe is very sad. Very small oysters, bitter spinach, and cheese drooled on top, JUST PASS!. One of our two beds had support issues and the bed made terrible noises every time you shifted. The drawers in the room for the dresser were misfits and did not open. Service was non exitent and this place was a complete dissapointment. Look to stay anywhere else. Food is poor and cocktails are totally a waste but you will pay RESORT prices.

Rooms need remodeling. Housekeeping needs more guidance or more employees Front desk needs more guidance and more experience This is not a 4 star resort The pool is somewhat heated. If the weather is cooperative it's not uncomfortable to jump in the smaller pool during low season. Wear footwear in the pools because the bottom is rough We won't stay here again

Hotel is aged and run down. Our balcony had rotted wood and others look like they are falling down. The walkways have uneven flooring and rotted handrails. The sad part is the staff is very rude, we had trouble getting basic necessities such as coffee, cups and toilet paper. When calling for these to be brought to our room, they are not replaced when housekeeping changes our towels and takes trash out, we were told by the front desk it is not their job to get us these items and even so far as to say they are not concerned with the needs of individual guests. It got to the point we just washed our disposable cups and went to the store to buy what we needed. South Padre is a beautiful place to visit but make sure you pick somewhere they actually care about you.
