Your Next Jungle Island Escape Should Be in Panama

"Isla Palenque sits at the tip of an island just off the mainland town of Boca Chica, where guests have their run of a 400-acre untamed jungle and seven beaches. The entire hotel is made up of eight casitas and a villa that sleeps 14, with rooms opening up onto their own private stretch of sand. It’s the launch point for spending an afternoon casting for red snapper on tricked-out fishing boats and cruising over to Coiba National Park to dive with sharks at one of the biggest coral reefs in the eastern Pacific."

Isla Palenque (San Lorenzo District, Chiriquí Province) 1 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Translated to English its name means Sanctuary Island, and for a two-word description of Isla Palenque, it’s impossible to beat. This 400-acre private island off the Pacific coast of Panama is an extraordinary escape, offering no fewer than seven secluded beaches — with just eight casitas and one six-bedroom villa, that’s almost one beach per unit." - Tablet Hotels

It has been about six weeks since we spent five days there and we are still talking about how much we enjoyed Isla Palenque. It satisfied our priority for isolation and for tropical beauty. We saw very few other guests while there in June. The service was attentive and fantastic. Francis added so much to our joy with his sharing of his deep knowledge of the Isla, as did Guillermo and others there. We asked for room service a lot and there was always a professional handling of our requests. We hiked the area extensively and enjoyed going to the isolated beaches. We kayaked with Pamela and enjoyed that too. We felt like we had the Isla to ourselves. Please be prepared to spend all day to get there. You have to be ready for that. The staff did a really good job of arranging for our transport to and from David. We enjoyed the variety of food dishes there. It is a romantic spot for couples who love tropical nature, quiet, and friendly staff. We hope to go again. The casita was well appointed and like the how the bath area was open air to the jungle. That's about it !

A girls trip we will never forget! The island was so beautiful, but what sealed the deal here was the amazing service. Everyone was courteous and willing to go the extra mile to provide great service. The food in the restaurant was amazing from the Peruvian chef. The drinks are also great. The views you get from the villa are amazing. The room has everything you need. No TVs on the island means you get to disconnect. We’re from Houston and the staff went above and beyond so we could watch the World Series game on an iPad. I will definitely come back and recommend you try this island in the beautiful country of Panama!

A remarkable getaway, truly peaceful and unique! My favorite part of the experience was waking up early to swim in the Pacific Ocean, just steps from my bungalow. The sand is dark, but there are no rocks or creatures, so it is a very calm and relaxing experience. The pool was so relaxing, the food, drink, and service were excellent. I truly did not want to leave this place! Many thanks to Patricia and her team for making our stay an unforgettable experience.

An amazing, unique experience. If you enjoy the outdoors and want to experience an incredible place with no crowds this is your vacation. Service is great - Paco our guide and Jorge our waiter could not be beat - but everyone was truly amazing. Accommodations were just as pictured, and the AC kept us nice and cool in the hot, humid weather. We went with our 2.5 year old daughter and they were very accommodating to toddlers. The whole family had an incredible time and would definitely return.

What an outstanding place!! It is a complete paradise!! Just getting there is an adventure, but it is totally worth the while. The service is the best you will get in Panama! The staff was amazing, exceeding expectations, attentive, and very interested in sharing with you their knowledge of the island. The trees and nature around the house and on the trails are exquisite and the beaches!!! The beach right down by the house is small, but great for swimming. Oh, and there is almost no beach during high tide, but you can enjoy a drink in the infinity pool or take a nap by the ocean deck. You get this huge island to explore all by yourself!! Totally recommended!
