Why I Visit a Mosque Wherever I Travel

"On my first trip to Rome, I did as the tourists do: paid my respects at the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Vatican, and no fewer than a dozen gelato shops. But the memory that lingers strongest a decade later is of boarding a nondescript commuter train to Parioli with my friends to visit the Moschea di Roma, the largest mosque in Europe. Built in 1994 with the blessing of Pope John Paul II, it is a tranquil escape from the eternal frenzy of the Eternal City."

It is wonderful to see that this mosque receives great attention from the officials. This is noticeable from the cleanliness of the carpets and the mosque in general, in addition to the maintenance and restoration work in the mosque courtyards, which indicates interest in development. Thanks to those who built this distinguished project, and thanks to those working on it. On Friday, the imam's sermon is very valuable and useful. Thanks for him too.

Mosques are truly special places. They're not just places of worship, but also serene sanctuaries where we find peace and solace. The beautiful architecture, the soothing atmosphere, and the sense of community make mosques a source of happiness for many.

Nice mosque with plenty of space and AC inside. Could do with a bit of renovation, but it’s a nice historic mosque. Be aware if you are coming here via taxi that it is hard to get a taxi back, and we came for Jummah. We had to walk to the local train station to get back into central rome.

One of my favourite mosques I visited across the world, very unique and well designed. Inspiration of Andor’s Ghorman

I think this is the biggest masjid in Europe. Very huge and spacious for prayer. It consists of three floors for moslem to pray 5 times daily. When in Jumma prayer, women also can pray in different shaf. Khotbah will be in two languages, first one in Arabic and continued by Italy language. The only minus thing is, when you come from the top level, you have to bring your shoes inside and put it in the pillar nearby your shaf. The design and carpet awesome. Masya Allah.

Great and spacious mosque in a nice neighborhood. Reminds you of ancient Islamic places. It is built with the help of an Arab princess. This mosque was the first mosque in Roman empire after a very long era of no Islamic places or mosques at all. It's far from city centre and you have to get regional ticket to get to this places. Should visit at the time of Juma prayer or similar timings then it would be totally worth the grind.

Yelp
Absolutely gorgeous! A diamond in the rough. Used the Metro to get here and after a brisk 5 minute walk, you'll arrive at this beautiful Mosque . Historic and in line with Rome like architecture, yet away from the hussle and rush of the inner city centers. In a beautiful city filled with beautiful churches we didn't even think at first that a mosque would even be in the vicinity. This Mosque should definitely be on your list of places to see, when in rome.

Yelp
The only place I could not find easily in Italy. We literally had to ask 10+ people to understand where this mosque was. We traveled by train and bus and got lost for awhile. The only person who gave us the right directions after the internet failing us was a 90+ year old lady who was trying to explain the directions in Italian. Somehow the sign language worked because my italian is not very good. So we got there after much confusion but it was worth it. Moschea di Roma is the largest mosque not only in Italy but in Europe. It is pretty hidden in the greenery and valley like atmosphere. Unfortunately, we did not go during visiting day or hours. So, I didn't get the entire tour. But we went during Friday prayer and it gave us the opportunity to pray. The mosque can accommodate over 12,000 people. It has a modern architectural feel to it compared to the mosques of other middle eastern countries. And the modern look is because it was completed only in 1994. It is a peaceful place to visit no matter what your religion is. It is about 20-30 minutes from Vatican City.

Yelp
It is very beautiful mosque with a nice imam wich guided us ( me and my wife). The mosque is open every prayer times. How to get to the mosque from Termini? Take a bus number 910 to Euclide. Then take a train to Viterbo.Get off at statiton Campi Sportivi.200 meter to the left is a mosque.Regards from Rasid and Jasminka.
