Great Mosque of Rome – The Great Mosque of Rome, located in the Parioli district, is the largest mosque in Italy and one of the biggest in Europe. It covers about 30,000 square meters and can hold around 12,000 worshippers, with up to 40,000 during Eid. Opened in 1995, the mosque was designed by architects Paolo Portoghesi, Vittorio Gigliotti, and Sami Mousawi. Its architecture blends Islamic traditions with Italian style, featuring a large central dome surrounded by 16 smaller domes, a 43-meter minaret, and tree-like columns that create a peaceful “forest” effect inside. The mosque also serves as the Islamic Cultural Centre of Italy, hosting prayers, marriages, conversions, classes, and cultural events. Visitors can take guided tours, follow modest dress rules, and must remove shoes before entering the prayer hall. ---🌸

A very beautiful mosque. Any Muslim who visits St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican, and all other temples/churches, etc., but skips his own place of worship should be ashamed. Even for non-Muslims, it is definitely worth a look. A few facts about the mosque: This mosque is one of the largest mosques outside of Islamic countries. It can accommodate up to 2,500 worshippers and was built in 1997. My request to those living in Rome and all other Muslims: Please do not let such a beautiful place fall into disrepair. This is not only a great sin but also sad for those who worked so hard to achieve this. Try to visit the mosque as often as possible, maintain it, and pray there. Thank you/Grazie

I think this is the biggest masjid in Europe. Very huge and spacious for prayer. It consists of three floors for moslem to pray 5 times daily. When in Jumma prayer, women also can pray in different shaf. Khotbah will be in two languages, first one in Arabic and continued by Italy language. The only minus thing is, when you come from the top level, you have to bring your shoes inside and put it in the pillar nearby your shaf. The design and carpet awesome. Masya Allah.

Absolutely gorgeous! A diamond in the rough. Used the Metro to get here and after a brisk 5 minute walk, you'll arrive at this beautiful Mosque . Historic and in line with Rome like architecture, yet away from the hussle and rush of the inner city centers. In a beautiful city filled with beautiful churches we didn't even think at first that a mosque would even be in the vicinity. This Mosque should definitely be on your list of places to see, when in rome.

The only place I could not find easily in Italy. We literally had to ask 10+ people to understand where this mosque was. We traveled by train and bus and got lost for awhile. The only person who gave us the right directions after the internet failing us was a 90+ year old lady who was trying to explain the directions in Italian. Somehow the sign language worked because my italian is not very good. So we got there after much confusion but it was worth it. Moschea di Roma is the largest mosque not only in Italy but in Europe. It is pretty hidden in the greenery and valley like atmosphere. Unfortunately, we did not go during visiting day or hours. So, I didn't get the entire tour. But we went during Friday prayer and it gave us the opportunity to pray. The mosque can accommodate over 12,000 people. It has a modern architectural feel to it compared to the mosques of other middle eastern countries. And the modern look is because it was completed only in 1994. It is a peaceful place to visit no matter what your religion is. It is about 20-30 minutes from Vatican City.

It is very beautiful mosque with a nice imam wich guided us ( me and my wife).The mosque is open every prayer times. How to get to the mosque from Termini? Take a bus number 910 to Euclide.Then take a train to Viterbo.Get off at statiton Campi Sportivi.200 meter to the left is a mosque.Regards from Rasid and Jasminka.
