"The Island Life In the heat of the summer there is only thing to do: pack a lunch, grab some beers, hop on a bike, ride the ferry, and get yourself over to the islands. It doesn't really matter which ferry you chose (well, don't head to the airport) because the only thing ahead is exploration. I recommend the following: - drinking beers with German tourists at the beach side bar - borrowing someone's canoe and heading out for a whirl - sprawling out on the sand with a book - listening to Afro beats in an aging hippie's house while mowing down on watermelon - snapping picturesque shots of the city skyline - biking along the wooden boardwalk facing the Leslie Spit - tucking into a vegetarian meal at the delightful Island Café while listening to live music You'll never want to leave..."

I visited The Island Café on Wards Island on a Wednesday evening and had such a great experience. They were running a happy hour for draft beer, which was a perfect way to start the evening, and there was a live singer performing who was absolutely incredible. The music created such a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere that made the whole visit feel special. For dinner I ordered the Jerk Pork Dinner featuring Ontario pork belly served with rice n’ peas, garden kale, and creamy coleslaw. I was pleasantly surprised at how authentic it tasted. The jerk sauce had just the right amount of spice and depth of flavor, exactly what I was hoping for. The kale stood out too, because it was freshly picked from the community garden next door, which guests are free to walk through and enjoy. It really adds a farm-to-table touch that you don’t often find so close to the city. The patio itself is reason enough to visit. You can sit outside, sip your drink, and watch the sunset while the Toronto skyline glows in the background. It feels like you are on a little getaway even though you are only a short ferry ride from downtown. The setting is casual yet beautiful, and it has that hidden gem quality that makes you want to linger. The food was fresh and tasty, the staff were warm and friendly, and the whole experience felt like a perfect mix of good food, good music, and great views. I am already excited to check this place out again next season and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique spot to relax and enjoy Toronto in a different way.

Coolest experience of set up like farm to table but the restaurant is next to a chich farming project to support the initiative by thr city. The food here itself was excellent. The nachos were made with beans and pickled onions which gave them a unique flavor. I loved the drunken mussels and the shrimp. The vibe was nice, they had some clean washrooms and hand washing stations. Sitting here felt like total little island vibes. Surrounded by great views and tons of walking and activities. Convenient and fun stop. The afagatos were tasty! Our server was nice and friendly.

What a cute little spot with very cozy and soft pastel vibes! I got the breakfast sandwich, which was tasty, but maybe a little expensive for the size. I guess that's an Islands issue moreso than the venue's. The service was very friendly and pretty quick. Also, very clean washrooms!

Visited the island on a brisk fall day. Went into The Island Cafe to warm up before the ferry. It was busy, they had a steady flow of people coming through, a mix of tourists and locals. I ordered a chocolate chip cookie and a hot chocolate. Cookie was average, not bad, but not something I would order again. The hot chocolate was not good. Tasted watery, like only half the required cocoa was added. The cost is on the premium side for what you get. I don’t plan on returning but fine in a pinch if you have no other option.

Just a few steps away from the Ward's Island Ferry Dock is the Island Cafe. Mostly patio seating which is great. Staff are friendly and good service but be prepared it does get busy on certain times. Food was fantastic I got the Pan Fried Fish which I'd recommend.

Smashing IT! 🍹🏝️💃🏝️🍹 The Island Cafe is back! Better than ever, this stunning one of a kind tropical getaway is within the enchanting atmosphere of Wards' Island! A short get away from the chaotic scene on the other side of the lake known as Toronto. Not only is Ward's Island a marvelous place to spend some quality time with all of natures wonderful things that it has to offer you also have a great bar and restaurant to make your visit even that much more spectacular. After a major fire destroyed the original Island Cafe and years of solid planning and building, the long-awaited NEW Island Cafe has finally opened up and to great fanfare. The Island Cafe is a great place with an electric vibe and great atmospheric energy. There's something for everyone. Great food, great drinks, amazing beers! Great coffee and amazing out of this world, ICE-CREAM! It's just a great place to be with some great people. Also the staff are amazing. Very friendly and kind. So if you're planning a visit to Ward's Island, make sure The Island Cafe is part of your visit!

The shining star of the Toronto Islands! On Ward’s Island, The Island Café is a treasure — a charming and peaceful oasis. The patio shelters you from the hustle of city life and is surrounded by gardens and trees with a relaxed, cottage-vibe, making you forget you’re only minutes from downtown. The food is fresh and seasonal — many ingredients are grown on site! Everything tastes and feels homemade and fresh. Staff, led by the always smiling manager Eyren, are super friendly and laid-back. The whole space has a welcoming, community feel. It’s authentic, warm, and unpretentious. Whether you’re grabbing a bite after a walk, meeting friends for a drink or just relaxing, The Island Café is the perfect spot. Can’t recommend it enough!

Such a cute atmosphere located perfect off the ferry / taxi dock. The concept would be amazing esp since you’re limited for food options on the island, the menu has interesting options on a seasonal menu. I understand island vibes however… Our service was quite slow for a not busy day. The price point was way too high $18 for kale + $7 for barely any chicken. The dressing was on point but there wasn’t much in the salad other than kale leaves (can I get a cucumber, tomato or something?) We won’t be eating here again unfortunately (shame since we’re local) but nice spot for drinks/ coffee.
