A popular spot for obvious reasons, Island Cream Co has made a mark for itself by serving up delicious ice cream and shave ice in the area. Parking in the area is abundant and the place is clean despite syrup stations being out in the open. The shave ice is self serve on syrups so you can go crazy on yours or just add light flavoring. If you want ice cream or anything else they will prepare it in full for you behind the counter but beware of any allergies as we saw a worker scoop different flavors with the same scoop after the first scoop had touched one with nuts. We ordered multiple different flavors of the ice cream and most were pretty good. They do also include a rolled chocolate wafer which was a nice touch for those who enjoy it. For those in our party who ordered the shave ice, they said it was good as well. The seating is a bit limited in the store so beware you may need to wait or take your stuff to go. This place has very good bones and I think one or two changes would make it even better,they have a unique product and we would recommend giving it a go if you’re in the area.

I’m rating it 5 stars for being innovative alone! They serve both delicious ice cream and shave ice. And the shave ice is self-serve. Now that is unique. They call their shave ice “glacier ice”. They give you a packed bowl of snow and you can put whatever flavors you want from there dozens of flavor taps. The only thing that’s a little annoying is it’s kind of messy. Because it drips from the upper taps to the lower taps. But I’m sure you get better at this as you build more of your own Shave Ice bowls. Pretty much the only shave ice place in the area so quite busy during the day as you can imagine. They have a few seats inside and a couple tables outside. Nice thing is when you’re done. You can also walk around this little strip mall. Plenty of parking in this large lot.

Absolutely delicious and a must-visit! Maui Island Ice Cream Company exceeded all expectations! The ice cream was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and rich—every scoop felt like a tropical dream. They had an amazing variety of unique and classic flavors, making it hard to choose (in the best way possible). The service was equally impressive—friendly, welcoming, and attentive from start to finish. You can really tell they care about both the product and the customer experience. If you’re in Maui, do yourself a favor and stop by. You won’t regret it!

We had such a fun and delicious time at Island Cream Co.! We ordered the shaved ice from the Glacier Ice Station and it was an absolute treat. It was not only tasty but also a fun experience. Playing with the machine and choosing from all the colorful syrups felt like being a kid again. Pro tip: don’t forget to ask for free toppings like condensed milk, they’re happy to add it if you just ask! But the real showstopper was the Sposhy. So refreshing, bright, and full of flavor. I absolutely loved it and will definitely be coming back for more. Perfect spot to cool off and enjoy some sweet fun!

This is hands down the best shaved ice I've ever tasted! It truly lives up to all the rave reviews and exceeds expectations. A definite must-try for anyone looking to indulge in a refreshing treat!

Great gourmet ice cream shop with lots of flavours! It’s hard to remember the name of what I got, because it was a funky name. Uniquely, it was the one that has pecan in it. They had so many ice cream flavours to choose from, so it was very exciting to be in there. Furthermore, the extra chocolate rolled wafer was a wonderful little surprise. I’ve been to many ice cream shops, and this shop truly has a presentation that goes above and beyond.

Island Cream Co. is an absolute must-visit! They have an incredible selection of unique and delicious ice cream flavors, along with refreshing shaved ice. I have to say—this is the best ice cream I've had in Hawaii! Every bite was creamy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Our favorites were the Turtle Ice Cream and Peanut Butter Pie—both were out of this world! The turtle ice cream had the perfect mix of chocolate, caramel, and nuts, while the peanut butter pie was rich, smooth, and full of peanut butter goodness. On top of the amazing flavors, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was welcoming. Whether you're a local or just visiting, Island Cream Co. is a must for any ice cream lover! Can't wait to come back!

Probably the best ice cream… dare I say…. In America. The coolest flavors that deliver on their titles with the best textures and colors. Absolutely blown away. We tried the shaved ice, and the ice cream. Can’t tell you which is better, as they conquer in each of their categories. I’ll say it again! SPECTACULAR!!

We come here every time we are in the area which is about twice a year and the trip is not complete without visiting our favorite spot!! There is a large variety of options, and they are very willing to customize to your liking! It is always clean and the staff are very respectful. If you are wanting some amazing shave ice or ice cream this is your place!!!

This place was yum! We tried the house special shaved ice. It was really good. Tried some taro gelato, which was very good as well. Place was clean, and service was spot on. Great place.. Mahalo

I will preface this review with I am a proud Wisconsinite and an Ice Cream connoisseur. This was a pretty good ice cream stop. I was impressed with the variety of treats they offered here. I got two flavors on a waffle cone that were both extremely delicious. If I had to give any criticism, I personally felt the fat content of the cream was a tad too high, leading to the ice cream being more creamy and drowning out the flavors. That is a personal preference I have from eating a lot of ice cream back home and shouldn't discourage you from trying it yourself. Overall, great late night treat!!

I recommend to come for the ice cream/gelato over the shave ice. We tried three different flavors and my favorite flavor was the Maui Loco ice cream. It was super creamy and flavorful. I also liked the chocolate amaretto, which had a strong almond flavor. Would pass on the mint chocolate chip. Didn't prefer this particular taste of mint which was more of a toothpaste mint. The shaved ice was mediocre for me. Ice was too icy/hard. Flavors in the "sploshy" were too sweet. Would go elsewhere if you want shaved ice.

They have ice cream, sorbet, smoothies and self-serve flavors for shave ice. When it's hot it's so delicious, but honestly even when it's not hot it's delicious. They have self-serve flavors of shave ice which is a unique experience in itself. You can get the shave ice with ice cream for $2. After getting your syrup flavors you can ask them for condensed milk and/or li hing powder. They offer samples of their ice cream which is nice. I really enjoyed the coconut poi and Biscoff ice cream. But really, they have a lot of good ice cream options. It depends what you're in the mood for. They have indoor and outdoor seating.

We stopped by Island Cream after lunch at Kihei Caffe next door, bc we wanted something cold & sweet after a savory meal. We shared a small Glacier Shave ice. You can choose your own syrups, and pay extra for ice cream on the bottom or a snow cap. The ice was silky smooth, and the taste was clean from the Glacier water. The woman working the counter by herself was super nice and efficient. She also gave me the kama'aina discount. A great place to go after Kihei Caffe, or some of the other eateries in the mall inc Foodland.

Quick stop here on the way back to the hotel. All fresh and clean ingredients! The sampler was perfect to share and get to try multiple flavors!

We had originally planned to check out another shaved ice place based on a friend's rec, but pivoted to this place since we were already in the plaza and was looking for some quick relief from the heat. Let me tell you, I'm so glad we found this place! We started off by choosing a shaved ice cup and the flavor of Island Cream we wanted. Island Cream is essentially their signature mix of gelato and ice cream. They placed the scoop of island cream underneath the shaved ice to prevent it from melting while we enjoyed the shaved ice. Afterwards, we went to the flavor station to drizzle our shaved ice with all the flavors we wanted. This was fun for figuring out the best flavor combos and we were able to refill the flavors of the shaved ice as many times as we want. We requested a snow cap as well, which is basically condensed milk on top of your shaved ice - a must in my opinion! Overall, we LOVED our experience here and would definitely come back when we visit Maui again!

Island Cream Company turned out to be one of the most delightful surprises of our trip. After enjoying a satisfying brunch in Lahaina, I was craving something sweet, and that's when we stumbled upon this gem. The moment we walked in, I was excited to see that they offered the famous Maui shaved ice, which I had been eagerly wanting to try during our stay. We decided to go for the shaved ice with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream, and it did not disappoint. One of the standout features of Island Cream Company is the way they offer shaved ice: they have taps for their syrups, which means you can mix and match as many flavors as you'd like. I chose a combination of strawberry and watermelon, and it was absolutely perfect. The flavors were refreshing and vibrant, and the shaved ice itself was light and fluffy, which paired wonderfully with the rich vanilla ice cream. As an added bonus, they offer unlimited refills of the syrups, so you can keep experimenting with different combinations if you're feeling adventurous. The atmosphere of the shop was also very pleasant. There's plenty of parking available outside, and you can choose to sit indoors or enjoy the warm Maui weather at one of their outdoor tables. Overall, it was a fantastic little discovery, and I highly recommend it to anyone in the area looking for a sweet, refreshing treat.

First off, you can unlimited samples here so don't feel bad. We got the Ube, Maui loco, and huapia. I liked that each flavor tasted like its name, but overall I personally didn't feel like anything was so special. It did feel more gelato like than ice cream and maybe I was hoping for more ice cream. That being said the atmosphere just makes you feel so welcome and that does mean something. I do think this place kind of is rated too high and it's likely some artificial bumping of the stats, it's still pretty decent though

Went here back to back nights! We loved the syrup you put on yourself and the free snow cap. The ice cream flavors were AMAZING! Try the lilikoi cheesecake.

Heaven on earth if you're an ice cream lover. I really enjoyed this ice cream shop because it stands out with its unique Hawaiian flavors. They have so many different options, I probably sampled at least half a dozen. The staff was very helpful when I was asking about the different varieties. My favorites were the Maui Loco and Kahlua. The Maui Loco had so many different flavors and textures It's hard to describe, but it was delicious! The Kahlúa had the classic boozey flavor with chocolate/coffee notes. But really, you can't go wrong with anything here. The pineapple was also a tough one to pass up! Stop by here if you got a sweet tooth on the island.

So far, best shave ice on the island. They had natural flavors, which I appreciated, and they all tasted so good! The family also got ube and mint ice cream, and both were absolutely delicious. Would return!

Love this place! The ice cream is amazing and have so many amazing flavors. This is probably the best ice cream I've tried ever. The flavors are so fresh and unique. They also have shaved ice which have many flavors to pick from. My family came here 3 time, and every time we tried different flavors and were never disappointed. There is seating inside and outside to provide for a comfortable experience. 100% would come here again!!

My family and I visited this location 3 times during our 2 week stay in Maui. Yeah, it was that good. The store features unique flavors that incorporate some of Maui's finest ingredients. So many fruits, chocolates, and nuts to please each and every palate. There is also a shaved ice station with around 20 or more flavors. The workers are very courteous and do let you sample as many flavors as your heart desires. And let me tell you, every flavor is delicious. Throughout my visits I sampled almost all of them and haven't found a single one I disliked. The store also allows you to get half scoops, so that a two scoop size turned into four flavors. A fan favorite of mine was paradise passion-honestly one of the best flavors I've ever tried. And to top it all off, the portions are fair and prices are reasonable. Definitely worth a visit!

Nice little shave ice and ice cream shop. The staff here are super friendly and helpful. You have the option to taste samples of the ice creams. They have tropical options and then more common options that include chocolate etc. I like that you can add your own syrup to the shave ice that way you can decide how much you want. The reason I was drawn to this whole is because they offer a "natural" line of syrups that are dye free and more natural of an option. I felt the cost for one scoop of ice cream was a bit high, and I like for the texture of the shave ice to be softer, but it was still good. Would recommend for you to try!

So good! There were so many flavors to choose from. My husband and son both ordered the banana Maui ice had banana bread and banana ice cream topped with bananas and caramel sauce. My daughter and I both got shave ice with ice cream on the bottom. My daughter did a plain vanilla ice cream where I did a pineapple. We the. Got to choose our flavors at a flavor bar where we added the flavor ourselves. Not the finest shave ice we have had but it certainly did hit the spot. I would definitely come back but would try something new next time!

While in maui, decided that it was ice cream time. Island Cream co has both shave ice and ice cream. However, with the name of "Island Cream Co," we felt as though Ice Cream was the way to go. We ordered the 6 scoop sampler. The scoops are on the smaller side, and the price was $14. (Note, I could have bought a couple half gallons for that at Foodland). The flavors were all pretty good. The Ube was the crowd favorite. I could have easily eaten this sampler by myself, but we shared it so that we could all get a taste. Service was nice and fast, and they have a bar you can eat at inside. There are also a couple tables outside that were full. If you are in the area, it's worth stopping by for!

This ice cream is good and I'm sure the shaved ice is too but on a personal level I don't loooooove their allergy policy. They have disclaimers about allergies all over the restaurant that basically amount to "if you have allergies, too bad, don't eat it" and when I asked the employee about it she said they make all the ice cream in the same machine and I said well yeah but you clean it in between right? And she said "well we rinse it with water" which as someone with a strong peanut allergy wasn't that reassuring? Also so many of their ice creams have nuts and they're all mixed together so the chances of cross contamination is high even in the case. I completely understand that it's tough to accommodate for every allergy all the time, HOWEVER there are certain steps that can be taken to make it as safe as possible for those of us who have to pay attention to this - For example putting all the ice creams with nuts in the same area to minimize a risk of contamination, using a fresh spoon for customers who request, etc. I've been to many ice cream shops I felt comfortable in and that tried to help customers with this as much as they could, I just felt like the employees were really laissez faire about it & I didn't care. Anyway. I ended up getting the strawberry shortcake - it was next to all the sherbets and I felt the least nervous about it. And the ice cream itself was definitely delicious. I would just suggest a little more caution when it comes to allergies. Mahalo!

We visit Maui about once a year and we always make a stop here. The place is clean, efficient, and has great hours. The staff has always been great. It can get pricey, but hey.it's Maui.

Best Ice cream in Maui! Established in 2014, this family-owned ice cream business is the only one in Hawaii without branches. Everything is handmade, including the cream, soft candies, and cones. They sell ice cream and shaved ice but not Dole Whip. (They even made a sign telling everyone that Dole Whip is made of pineapple powder + water, so don't order it when you come to Hawaii. ) There are 36 flavors available, and my favorite is still strawberry. The milk flavor is very rich. I ordered 3 scoops of strawberry made into a smoothie for convenience to take away. My husband chose chocolate with banana, strawberry, and another flavor I forgot, all for $20. A perfect end to our Day 2 of state park visit and hiking trip! Staff were very friendly and generous with ice cream samples. Ice cream tasted really good and definitely recommend it to everyone stop by this gem and get heat cool off. I saw this Island Cream Co on YELP, we decided to try it. They have an amazing selection of syrup for the shaved Ice from a dispenser, pretty cool. Snow cap is free. And they even have a few selection of sugar free syrup for the shaved Ice. We ended up getting ice cream instead since they are known for their Ice cream. We got a small scoop sugar free cherry ice cream and a medium 2 scoops of Ube and coconut ice cream. They are creamy. What i noticed is that they are not as sweet as the other ice cream places. Service was OK, they do have a few seats around the counter. Most people sit outside.

Very unique and awesome experience. As a lifelong ice cream fanatic, I can honestly say this place is easily top three, and might even top one after I walk around a bit and dwell on the flavors. Very exotic and bursting with flavors! Maui Local, Ube, and Strawberry/chocolate chip. Wish I tried them sooner, would have been back every day to try all the flavors, but we're going back home in the morning. Will be my new go to delight when in Maui!

I stopped in here four times during my two weeks on Maui and my only regret is not going more often. Don't listen to the lame reviews trying to say that it's a tourist trap or a homie with subpar quality. I saw plenty of locals enjoying the ice cream each time I stopped in and the ice cream is nothing short of magical. It's a small shop where one orders at the counter so there's not to say in the way of ambience, but the service was prompt and polite. I expected they would be annoyed by all of the samples I had, but they were surprisingly cool. I made sure to tip well to make up for it. I dream about the Cookie Butter ice cream and caramel sauce. I long for the Turtle and Ube. I suppose it's best I live snack dab in the center of the lower 48 or I would be 10k pounds. Until I see you again, Island Cream Co, thank you!

We stopped by and had the Maui Loco Moco Flavor, and it was delicious! The service was fast and the shop has nice island vibes!

We made a quick stop at this spot to satisfy our dessert cravings, and being in Hawaii, there's always room for ice cream. We sampled a variety of their flavors, each one as unique as it was delicious. From their creamy Ube to the Lahaina Cream (an incredible blend of whiskey and Kahlua coffee), every bite was a treat. The Hawaiian Sweet Cream was another standout--smooth and indulgent, it took me straight back to the rich, velvety sweetness of Hokkaido cream icecream. And I have to admit, their ube ice cream might even outshine Magnolia's. All in all, it's a one-of-a-kind dessert experience that you can only get on this island as it is only located in Maui. If you find yourself in Lahaina, this place is an absolute must-visit!

After having breakfast next door, my husband saw this place and insisted that we go. The next day, we did and both of us were impressed. The place has sort of a dual clientele I assume. It clearly is an ice cream shop but they also have a DIY shave ice station with tons of syrup options. While it seemed interesting, we were there there for the ice cream. They had some common flavors but the selection of more unique and local flavors was great - lilikoi cheesecake, Hawaiian sweet cream, Kauai karamel, coconut-poi, paradise passion (coconut cream with caramel and passionfruit), macadamia nut (of course, and Maui loco (coconut cream with macadamia nuts, chocolate chips, and caramel). The banana Maui sounded great too and may be worth a try - sweet cream with bananas foster sauce on top of banana bread! I got the Maui loco and pineapple cream and my husband got Hawaiian sweet cream and pineapple cream. The ice cream was absolutely fantastic. The sign in the store says that their cream is a mix between gelato and ice cream. Perhaps that explains the smooth and creamy texture. We loved the samples that we tried and what we settled on. I also enjoyed their cinnamon waffle cone. This is a great spot for ice cream or possibly shave ice.

We were looking for shaved ice but every other place was closed so we ended up here. It's an ice cream parlor that serves shaved ice as well. We got the Sposhy and at first I thought it would be overwhelmingly sweet but it was delicious. The syrups tasted like real fruit! I would eat this again

Cool ice cream/shaved ice spot right on the edge of Lahaina. It's located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. They offer a ton of different ice cream flavors, their version of pineapple dole whip, and shaved ice. This place is perfect for kids who love to pick a bunch of flavors for their shaved ice. They give you the ice and the flavors are self-serve. The employees were super friendly and it was a great experience overall!

We went to Island Cream our first night on Maui, and we have been back every night since! Their ice cream is a unique blend of gelato and ice cream, and the macadamia nut is the best I've ever tasted. The prices are reasonable, especially for Maui, and they have so many different flavors like Maui Loco, chocolate macadamia nut, strawberry shortcake, and haupia (coconut). They have signs saying you can sample as much as you want! If you order shave ice, it comes with a mini scoop of ice cream in the bottom and just plain shave ice, and then you get to put your own toppings on! It was hard to choose from so many flavors. Tip: Take a look at the brochures at the ABC store nearby and you might find one that has a coupon for a dollar off. We took full advantage of that!

This is a blend of gelato and ice cream make in house which was really good. I got the chocolate macadamia nut sundae with another scoop of ube. Ube taste was distinct and chocolate was smooth. Brownie was warmed up so it was good 80% of the way through but got really hard at the end. 8/10 It was a bit too sweet toward the end so next time I would just get the ice cream only.

We stopped in for shaved ice after the great Yelp rating and can definitely see the reason! This is a family owned business who makes their ices on site. We tried their coffee +ice cream as well as a make your own glacier ice (RO filtered water) with an *entire wall* of add your own flavors! We added a scoop of their pineapple cream (made with real pineapple which you can taste) and it was absolutely delicious. Will have to visit a few more times while we are here!

This is ice cream HEAVEN! So many flavors to choose from so I had to get the 6 mini scoop sampler ;) my boyfriend got the shaved ice and he loved it! Especially because he got to choose as many flavors as he wants. We will be coming back! The people working there were also very friendly and helpful. Lovely place overall.

Great concept. I love the idea of getting shaved ice and being able to add my own flavors. So many flavors. Some that I have never heard of and some that I always wanted to try. You can also add a scoop of ice cream to the bottom of the bowl (again with 20+ flavors). I would not hesitate to recommend the place. Normally I would tell you what I ordered, but I put so many flavors on my shaved ice that I hesitate to tell you.

What a fantastic hidden gem! The shop is unassuming, but was full of amazing treats. All the items are made by the company themselves, they even had their own cleaner version of Dole Whip. There is also an awesome shaved ice syrup wall for the ultimate experience. The staff was super welcoming and friendly. Lots of flavor options and frozen grab and go treats. Highly recommend!

Refreshing ice cream spot on another sunny afternoon. Creamy rich ice cream with several local flavors. Simply a good treat for us!

I convinced a group of friends to stop at island cream co on my last day in Lahaina. I was thrilled to finally get a chance to stop by and ended up bummed I hadn't done so sooner because I would have loved to return. The employee who helped me was very patient with me and the many flavors I wanted to try. Everything was delicious. I ended up getting the pineapple cream, cherry vanilla, Maui loco, and Kauai karmel. The description of a mixture of gelato and premium ice cream was very accurate. The ice cream was smooth and every flavor I tried was delicious. I wish I had time to go back for the coconut poi. I would even be willing to go back to try the shaved ice which I'm usually not a fan of.

It should be illegal to offer all these yummy flavors and make you choose (though they do offer an ice cream "flight"). After sampling 3 flavors (you can sample everything), I bought a two-scoop dish with four flavors, since you can also "split scoops".

Excellent service. The young man offered tastes and his knowledge of different flavors. He was patient and offered a half/half scoop when we couldn't decide. Smooth & creamy unique flavors. Delish, we'll definitely be back.

We had the banana Maui with 2 scoops, one was the moco loco and the other ice cream also a coconut flavor based. We took the recommendations from the two workers who were kind and attentive. It came with banana bread and the combination was just perfect. The perfect sweet treat!

Imagine the dense flavor of Gelato with the richness of ice cream, mixed in with those island flavors, like macadamia nut, coconut, or ube, and you have an unique local classic you won't find elsewhere. They also serve classic shave ice with a self-serve syrup bar for you to concoct your own combinations. Our server was friendly and patiently allowed us to sample almost all the flavors without making the slightest fuss. It's a family business with just a few tables, but there always seems to be a small crowd hanging out here. Across from the cannery mall, it was spared the devastation of the Lahaina fires. While Ulalanis and Lappert's remain closed, this is the place to go.
