Lovely, friendly atmosphere in a convenient location close to everything. Great happy hour specials. Clean and stylish rooms with a safe and towels supplied. Hot water! 😃 Chris and the team were excellent. The dogs were sweet. We will be back for sure. Highly recommend!

Great location! It’s right at the zona colonial so most attractions in Santo Domingo are within walking distance. It’s pretty close to several bus stations too. The WiFi worked great, and the free breakfast was delicious and filling. There’s a bar downstairs where you can easily meet people. The staff were all friendly and helpful, though some volunteers don’t seem to know much about the city. Also most of the lockers in the dorm rooms are broken. These should be repaired/ replaced for security.

I stayed in the personal room and the shower had hot water, AC and bed was comfortable. Jeremy is a very friendly and kind at reception and I even had a late check in and check out and he accommodated graciously! So grateful for his generosity and kindness- he truly aims to make the atmosphere great for all travelers.

I enjoyed my time at Island life. The breakfast is a 10/10. Breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, fruit, beans, toast, coffee, and juice. The volunteers are super nice and helpful. Especially Anita! She helped me get to the correct bus station when it was my time to leave. I really appreciate her help that day. It's very easy to make friends since some people are traveling solo. I 100% recommend this hostel to anyone who is planning to travel to Santo Domingo. :)

People working at this hostel are amazing, truly go above and beyond to ensure that you enjoy your stay and have a great time. You’ll have no issues finding someone to join you for a night out or a day trip. Amenities are clean and modern, location is super safe yet close to the main spots. Hostel has it’s own bar with super affordable drinks, and they even do coffee (highly recommended). The breakfast is delicious, internet is quick and I would definitely stay here again.

I stayed at the Island hostel at the very begging and the very end of a solo trip a for a few days. I can't recommend this place more highly! The service and in particular how friendly and welcoming the staff are for foreign travellers it's second to none and was the perfect way to wind down after 2 weeks of travelling in DR. The rooms were always clean, always had hot water and the place itself has a great atmosphere and meet many people there I enjoyed spending time with. In particular I want to mention Cat, Dee, Jeremy and the owner Chris who made the stay all that much better with great conversations and I would definitely come back here if/when I come to you and visit next. Thanks to all you there and hope to see some of you again! 10/10 🙂

Right in the middle of Colonial Zone close to everything, Beds are really nice at a great price. But where they kill it is with the Private rooms, most of them just recently renovated with a fancy classy style, brand new jacuzzy in place for guests, breakfast included (nice eggs), they do have a tavern style bar insite open to only guests serving hot coffe and cold beer (Presidente, most famous local beer), and nice drinks. They have a really nice outside area great for working remote or taking a break. ultra fast wifi. friendly staff. Nice games to play onsite. Will visit again.
