Visiting family from New Zealand, I asked my sister to take me to the beach, which she did and told me we would eat lunch by the sea ... well, the Indian Ocean no less.
We entered the amazing Island Market Trigg with amazing wall to wall windows looking out across the ocean. Perfect.
We were greeted immediately by a wonderful server with a lovely smile. He asked what seating we preferred and accommodated us without hesitation.
The wine list and menu arrived and because my sister has eaten at Market Island Trigg many times before she asked me to trust her to order.
I'm so glad I did ...
A lovely glass of NV Babo Prosecco to start then onto the first two of our shared plates:
Fried calamari, Arabic spice, preserved lemon aioli
Fried cauliflower, hummus, pomegranate molasses
I couldn't believe my tastebuds! The calamari was so fresh. And I'd never experienced cauliflower like that before, I suspect I never will again unless I return to Market Island Trigg on future trips to Perth.
Preparing for our second round of shared plates, we were graced with a glass of Alkoomi 'Frankland River' Riesling. Divine.
And then they arrived:
Wood roasted pork belly, muhammara, baby carrots
Shredded cos, cucumber, radish and walnut salad, yogurt dressing
All I can say is that the food is so delicious, amazing, superb that I couldn't, well didn't want to really, talk to my sister as we dined. I just didn't want any conversation distracting my focus on the tastes dancing around on my tongue!
The servers were happy, smiling always, helpful and attentive.
I'm so happy I asked my sister to take me to the beach!
