Sewage came up in my bathroom sink. Maintenance told me nothing could be done, that it was an old building.
Cockroaches were constant. From itsy bitsy ones to full grown.
It was never quiet. The recently homeless tenants followed their old habits and went in and out at all hours, pulling or pushing whatever they used to carry their things. The building I lived in for 15 months had hot water regularly. Building number 3 did not. Also, the building I lived in had the only washers and dryers. Four washers, four dryers on each floor for 281 units. I am 72 and disabled. My unit was on the second floor. The only elevator for that building regularly broke down, and would remain broken down for days. The security guards were only there to see that the property wasn't damaged. Twice there were attempts to break into my unit. Nothing was done. Supposedly there were to be no alcohol or drugs. Both were constantly present, I was offered them. The rate of turnover is great. Deaths from suicide, and drug overdoses were frequent. I personally saw two body bags on gurneys wheeled out. The man on the floor above my room died and no one did anything until the smell got so bad no one could ignore it. The resource person told me that ten people had jumped off the roof. One resident that I talked to said one of those jumpers landed a few feet in front of him. Finally, most of the tenants are obviously in need of psychiatric medication. One woman attacked one of the security guards with a big kitchen knife. I saw the video he took as she was attacking him.
I don't care how desperate you are, don't move in there.
