We feel like we found an absolute GEM with Island Vista. Our multi-generational family (grandparents, my 3 kids, my husband and I) made magical memories here. We strongly recommend this place to anyone who is considering staying in the area. Grandparents were joyful on the balcony, kids loved the pools and hot tubs, and we all loved the beach. Michael and Shane went out of their way to take care of us at the restaurant (delicious food, highly recommend)!! The units are HUGE, clean, beautifully and simply decorated, and have lovely balconies. We originally had 3 nights planned then another 3 nights at a different Myrtle Beach hotel. We came back almost immediately because Island Vista is a dream and is not overcrowded like other places in the area. We are already planning our next visit!!

One of the top notch resorts in the Myrtle Beach area!||This resort is nestled among nice residential homes.|We had an oceanfront suite which was very tastefully furnished.|The facilities are very clean and beautiful. The beach access is steps away. |The pools are shaded by many palm trees and surrounded by cushiony outdoor furniture.||The real secret of this resort are the people that pamper you from the moment you check in.|Starting with Stephen who is the manager of front guest services. He guided me when booking this resort many months before. He was spot on what to expect. Big THANK YOU|Stephen!|Also a shout out to Jan and AJ at the front desk. |The Cypress Room restaurant was awesome. The menu was exquisite.|, and the outdoor seating was an added gem.|We met the manager of dining, Michael . He made sure all of our needs were taken care of.|Even chef Stephen came out to greet us. Can’t say enough about Shane and Mark who |made us feel like family. They were awesome!|Stella constantly filled out cups of coffee at breakfast and Kevin made us laugh.||Rodney, security at the pool area, was very friendly. And I also want to mention Todd in night time housekeeping. ||We made friends with all these people, which ensures that we will be back again!!!!||~ Shirley & Sal~

If you are one that reads reviews.. READ THIS! |I spent around 3 weeks looking over reviews of the best/safest place to stay with my family in MB. We have visited Myrtle for my whole Life but had family home to stay (until recent passing). We needed somewhere that felt like home and BOY DID WE FIND IT! ||We were so happy from the moment we arrived. FRONT DESK- Amazing.. quick/efficient/helpful. |Our room (PH-6) BEAUTIFUL. While some|Minor updates could be done that is more personal taste than anything. Our housekeeper Shana was beyond exceptional. I was so thankful for her and amazed and how quick and thorough she was. |*Pictures Included*||We loved all of the dining and bar staff- they were helpful and honest with recommendations. They were quick and friendly and not overbearing. ||The outside security and maintenance were wonderful. I appreciate the security (to each their own) and FINALLY a place that checks if you have a wristband they give you at check- in. It was wonderful! The pools were perfect|For our family and love that there is a lifeguard stationed right in front of our resort while taking time to spend on the beach. ||We will be back again and again! We are also very sad to leave here.

We’ve been coming here since they opened, almost 20 years. We still love it; it’s nice and secluded and clean. Food has been great. I have a huge complaint with housekeeping however. We have stayed 11 nights, sheets and bedding have not been changed ONCE. We have to beg for towels. When we do get them, there’s 3 bath towels and about 40 washcloths and hand towels. When the housekeepers came (only twice), it felt like they spent 10 minutes in our 3 bedroom suite. Only made up the master bedroom bed. It’s honestly horrible. It gets worse every year. Please do better with housekeeping. And stop using flat sheets as bottom sheets and invest in some freaking fitted sheets.

Staying here was overall just okay. All the rooms are set up like condos, so that's nice if you need the space. The room was clean. The oceanfront view was incredible. However, I found the food services lacking. Their main restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays (two of the days I stayed). Additionally, their "spa services" are done by a third party who comes to the hotel by booking. Any spa service must be in the beachside cabana or in your room. However, they charge you a fee of 10% to come to your room, even if the service you chose doesn't have a beach side cabana option. The resort should really have a designated spa space. I did not find it comfort to have a spa package in my room where they had to use my microwave and kitchen sink to heat up towels, or music provided from a cell phone. It would've been much more relaxing to have a space set up for this. My massage therapist was great, just the set up for the service was uncomfortable and awkward for me. Had I realized all these things ahead of time, I would not have booked a spa service. They also don't offer full service housekeeping unless you stay a whole week.

Poor Customer Service Overshadowed Our Stay I stayed at Island Vista Resort for 4 nights last week and unfortunately had multiple issues that significantly impacted our vacation experience. Front Desk Issues: The front desk staff, particularly Pam, consistently displayed poor customer service with unfriendly, uncaring attitudes. When I inquired about their best price guarantee after noticing rates had dropped since my booking, Pam gave me a dismissive canned response claiming I already had "the best price." When we arrived early and asked about room availability, we were told they "won't know" and would call us - despite clearly seeing many available rooms while walking the property. Room Problems: We were assigned a room with a broken air conditioner that we endured for a day and a half, thinking it would improve. When we finally called maintenance, Steve was the one bright spot - he was helpful and professional, assisting us in getting a working room at 11:00 PM. Management Response: After requesting compensation for the inconvenience, the manager promised to "check and call us back" but never followed through. A $50 credit eventually appeared on our bill - hardly adequate for the disruption to a $275/night stay. Facilities: The pools are dated, the lazy river is disappointingly small with minimal flow, and the parking situation with cones blocking ground floor spots was another inconvenience. The on-site restaurant served what was easily the worst breakfast we had during our entire Myrtle Beach trip. Positive Note: Maintenance staff member Steve deserves recognition for his professionalism and helpfulness during our room issue. Overall, while the location may be appealing, the poor customer service culture and facility issues make it difficult to recommend this resort.

Did a Monday to Monday stay in a 3 bedroom suite and had a great time. Staff were pleasant and helpful when asked questions etc.. Rooms were clean and more than spacious for the six of us. Restaurant staff were very attentive, but service at times could be slow as they were tending to a lot of guests at the same time. Certainly looking forward to a return visit in the near future.

Google
The Island Vista Resort is a wonderful resort that provides a lot of wonderful amenities and accommodations for its visitors. Personally, I think the resort offers a great getaway for couples and families equally. The resort provided access to suite style rooms, on premise dining, public swimming pools, hot tubs, and even a cool lazy river for whoever of what age. The resort also gives you easy access to the beach where you can utilize chairs and umbrellas to make your beach visit that much more comfortable. I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the resort and hope to visit again soon!

Yelp
I had an amazing time at the resort. The staff were friendly. Especially, the pool maintenance man he has such a beautiful spirit. The rooms were above and beyond my expectations. Wonderful balcony views. Only thing I didn't like was the steps in the hot tub. They are weirdly big but you can't judge the step as it is in water so I end up scrapping the back of my heal. Also, seeing they have two pools I wish one was for people 5ft up. I will absolutely travel back to this place.

Yelp
Great location right on the beach! Rooms were average and seem outdated but the bar, pools, vibe and drinks were excellent. Can't. Beat the location as well! Easy parking

Yelp
My General rule stays strong. Write 5 or talk to the manager in private. We stayed in late April, 74-76 degrees throughout our stay. Beautiful blue skies, a quarter of the people, room represented the 3 C's of cool comfortable and clean. Staff: Ooof i wrote their names down, Sheryl my heart wants to say, who works night audit, started the stay for us. She was the key to the experience. We got in late, and she made the check in process seamless and we felt welcome at a late hour after a day of traveling. That's all you can ask for and more out of the 3rd shift. The gentleman in the afternoon, that my heart would tell is the front office Manager, did a wonderful job at coordinating his team. I know the storm is coming, so new hires come and go with the season, but the two young ladies working beside him presented themselves well and demonstrated professional work everytime we encountered them. It was my wife's 30th and we were looking for some R&R and they helped make it happen. I know with the summer months approaching and the walking dead esque folks arriving, this establishment can have a different tune. But if you go to Myrtle in the summer, strap in and deal with it. Thank you for the wonderful stay, we'll be back again.....probably next April.

Yelp
This is one of the best hotels I have ever been to!!! I definitely recommend. My family and I came in late February and it was the perfect time to go! The pools and hot tubs were empty and so nice to relax in. There is a food place downstairs and their food was very good. They are open for breakfast as well which was excellent!

Yelp
PROS....Room was clean and smelled great! I was pleased that there was an ice maker in the freezer. There was a washer and dryer which was great to have . Suite was spacious and some of our furniture looked updated. Water pressure was decent and resort employees were nice! Pools were nice. Grounds are kept very well and pretty. Nice secluded beach not too crowded. Excellent oceanfront views. Resort is fairly close to everything! Nice live music in the restaurant and out by the pool. Upon check in they give you a gift card to use in the resort restaurant ( amount depends on length of stay) That was a nice touch. CONS....beds were extremely uncomfortable and wayyy too soft. We were physically broken every morning and just couldn't get proper rest due to the bed. So that was a HUGE bummer as you go on vacation for rest. Arrived on a Sunday and spend all day out, got back to room exhausted around 11 pm. and went to bed only to find that the sheets had not been changed and there were food crumbs in the bed from previous guest but the comforter was pulled up neatly over frazzled sheets to give appearance of a freshly made bed. I called the desk to report it and request clean sheets and such and they sent some up. I'm the guest so I didn't feel like I should have had to make a bed that should have already been clean and made before I arrived. That was the last thing I wanted to do at 11pm. after a full exhausting day of flights and road travel etc.. The washer/ dryer set in my room was so compacted in the closet it was in that I had to fight with the closet door and the dryer door so that I could open the dryer every time I used it. The parking garage is a horrible accident waiting to happen as everyone doesn't drive like there's other ppl driving on the road. I also found it odd that there were no paper towels in the kitchen! I've never stayed at a resort with a kitchen and no paper towels so make sure u bring some . The food in the cypress room was average. For the price I expected more. If you want great food leave the resort and find some local spots. SC has great food! $50 A DAY to rent two old worn out beach chairs and an umbrella is crazy to me. Bring your own or buy some at one of the stores there so u can pay once and use them alllll day EVERY DAY!! ( not the resorts fault tho. These chairs are owned and rented out privately by myrtle beach.) Overall I'd probably book again simply because of the location( it's literally an island and away from the crowd) and the cleanliness of the room will always get a thumbs up from me.

Yelp
We loved our stay at Island Vista!! Check-in was a breeze. Condo was spacious and clean. Loved the amenities. Parking garage was interesting, but we always found a spot with no problem. On site restaurant was good.

J E.

Yelp
The accommodations are nice, but I was there for a week during a tropical storm. People could not do anything except stay at indoor pool. When I asked management about credits or some refund, I was told no way they do not do that. Customer service is not good in my opinion. We paid a crazy amount of money for a condo for a week and then was told too bad.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
All around five stars. This resort is highly staffed, with seasoned professionals. It is clean, the food is delicious, the service is excellent. The pool area is always maintained and calm and peaceful with easy access to the beach. Definitely coming back here.

Michal Q.

Yelp
Marc at the front desk was so helpful! He went above and beyond for us and we are so grateful!! Hands down we will come back to Island Vista because of his amazing customer service. Also, thank you to house keeping, a thousand well dones helping locate our left behind items. We loved hearing the music of the ocean and watching the rhythm of the waves from the balcony. The location to the pool and ocean was perfect. Thanks again!

Jason S.

Yelp
Absolutely the best on the beach. Awesome staff, amenities, and location! The grounds are excellent! We've stayed in NMB at Southshore Villas for years, but not anymore. This is our new October destination! We highly recommend Island Vista! Keep up the fantastic work!

Yelp
Not a resort, this is a hotel. Outdated building, nothing grand about this place. It's a nice little HOTEL right on the beach, you don't get luxury vibes. For the price it was just okay. Our room was huge and had a GREAT view but that's about it. It's a great place if you plan on cooking with your family as we did have a full size kitchen, however, There is no tap water in the outdoor pool area, pool bathrooms are non existent (kind of encouraging people to pee on the pool). I would go up to the bar for tap water and the 2nd time I went up for more water, I was told "keep your plastic cup because they are going to make us start charging for them" - it's a 5 cent plastic cup with nothing special about it and I'm paying $500 a night...

Yelp
If I could 2.5, I would. There are pros: on the beach, indoor and outdoor pools, outdoor patio seating overlooking the beach, private beach, close enough to things to do, covered parking garage, balcony overlooks ocean/ocean views, big rooms with ability to have 3-4 bedrooms, full kitchens, living room. There are big cons: decor stuck in 1996, everything looks old and dirty due to that, AC in rooms is inconsistent, bar/restaurant is not high quality, garbage piles up in hallways, no recycling, parking garage is an accident waiting to happen. At some point they need to pull the trigger on a total update. The pros will only go so far for so long and your 20 year time warp becomes 40 years. Driving south or north of this place and you see more updated resorts that make you want to stay there instead next time to give it a try. Even starting with tile, carpets, paint, and removing wall paper would help. The garage is another story. I get it's a structural limitation but it's pretty crazy how tight the spaces and lanes are. I can't imagine the amount of scratched door panels this place is responsible for (technically, they are not responsible). If you're driving something larger than a really small SUV, good luck.

Madison T.

Yelp
Website is misleading. No spa. Sad little hotel, outdated. Clean and on the beach. Disappointed! For the price I thought this was gonna be a grand resort. Would not stay here again.

Vicki S.

Yelp
Lobby smells of sweet fake scent. I had to take allergy medicine due to it ! Our room was hot. Maintenance worker said it is control by computer and we couldn't make it cooler. Closet door handle broken. Carpet filthy. Hallway carpet horrible. This used to be a nice place. I asked for a manager at. Checkout and was told one wasn't there We won't be back

Rebecca W.

Yelp
The setting is gorgeous. Pros: - They have a beautiful view to the ocean. - The rear of the property is just steps from the ocean! - They have multiple pools and I believe some can be enclosed during the colder months. They also have a lazy river. The hot tub outside is nice on cooler evenings. - They are constantly working on the hotel (this is good sign for upkeep and longevity). During our stay, we saw people wiping surfaces, sweeping, and caulking. - (According to the signage) they are being proactive about pest control. They had a rat terrier with a pest control team surveying each floor. - The units are privately owned so it seems that they are unkept in a different way than a typical hotel. - They have a restaurant downstairs which includes outdoor dining. It is worth noting that they have heaters outside along with some sort of enclosure that can be lowered in cooler temperatures. You can listen to a musician in the evenings while you dine and listen to the calming waves against the shore. - They offer a bell service to help you unload and reload your car. - The view from the parking garage is incredible. - The staff at the restaurant downstairs were all quite pleasant. An extra shoutout to Dawn who was very accommodating during dinner service. There was another lady at the breakfast service who was also very nice but I wasn't able to catch her name. - The kitchen appliances looked quite new. - The furnishings in the living and dining areas were very nice and the fabrics on the sofas were clean. - Beautiful sunrises and sunsets that you can enjoy from your living room / balcony (depending on floor and orientation of unit). Cons: - We did see one cockroach. It is worth noting that it was in the parking garage vestibule and not in the hall area or in the unit. It is also worth noting that the Myrtle Beach area in general seems to have a large roach population. - The parking garage has tight spaces and I can see this being a bigger issue come summer rush. - The hall had a few pieces of misc. trash that had not been vacuumed up at any point during the length of our stay.

Debra O.

Yelp
I honestly don't know what was worse, the hostess and her terrible attitude or my hard boiled scallops I got for dinner. Food was absolutely horrible and cannot believe I experienced that with a smile on my face. We moved outside after our dinner and had the best experience meeting Steven who was the highlight of our entire night. What a wonderful man and an asset to this resort! We loved the wine and the outdoor experience. Do not recommend eating dinner here or having any sort of experience with the host team.

John C.

Yelp
First time in Myrtle Beach and grateful for Island Vista Resort -great rooms, awesome staff (super big thanks to the chief engineer, Steve)! Awesome, clean pools (there are three -two outdoor and one indoor), and incredible, straight access to beach (steps away). This place is also close to everything! Two tips: one, fast for a week before you visit so you can really enjoy all the food, and, two, don't waste your time looking at your weather app... if it shows it's gonna rain, it's not gonna rain; the app showed that it would rain every single day and we were kind of bummed, but the accommodations are so nice that we decided to stay anyway and, guess what, very little rain at all. For the 8 days during our stay so far, it rained once or twice for an hour or so ... overall beautiful weather at a GREAT place!

Courtney D.

Yelp
I booked a 2-bedroom ocean view suite to have a few days to celebrate my mother's birthday. The staff were all friendly. The condo was beautiful and immaculate. It was decorated nicely and had everything we needed and more. The balcony view was perfect. We enjoyed the beach and the lazy river. The parking was the only downside only because the parking spots were very small. Overall we loved the weekend and my mother had a lovely birthday!

Kevin B.

Yelp
Really bad bar staff. Stood at the bar to be ignored while others were served. Finally had to interrupt another guest bc they kept ignoring me. Ordered a drink and a shot and both bartenders laughed at me like I was crazy and no one has ever ordered a drink and a shot at the same time. Made me feel really uncomfortable and that I was not welcome. Weird, they had no problem happily taking my money afterward. Rooms were nice but the bar staff honestly sucked and seemed either rude or just inexperienced. I would avoid this place.

Stacey Q.

Yelp
I have stayed here twice it was awesome! Absolutely no complaints! Room was clean and up to date. Why everyone keeps saying it needs a "refresh" is beyond me. You are literally a mile in each direction from the closest resort. It's surrounded by multi-million dollar homes and a tree covered grassy park across the street. There's no riff-raff. Everyone is so friendly. The food in the restaurant is great! I will be staying here for years to come! Island Vista...I will see you on August 20, 2022 for a 7 night stay. Go ahead and book this resort...you will not regret it!

Danielle S.

Yelp
Check-in: They were unable to accommodate an early check-in. I was told that they would text me when the room was available, but I never received the text. Beach access: This hotel is right on the beach. You can rent chairs and beach umbrella from the lifeguards. I think it was $40/day for 2 chairs and 1 umbrella. It's on a quiet part of the beach. There aren't any large, neighboring hotels. Towels: There is a beach towel dispencer outside. It is tucked away in the corner towards the left of the hotel near one of the hot tubs. When you check-in, you will be given a card that will allow access to these beach towels Room: The room was incredible. It was a last minute booking (about 3-4 days prior to arrival) on a 3rd party site. We were on the 11th floor with partial beach view. It was an end unit. We could see the beach and the street. It was great. We really enjoyed the view. There were 2 chairs to chill out on. The bathroom was a good size and there was great water pressure. Restaurant: We only ate here once for breakfast. The dining room is beautiful. I originally though it was going to be expensive. Boy was I wrong. The prices were great and YES, the food was great. The service was friendly and attentive. Lazy river: Nice for the kids or if the weather is not nice outside but there is a very strong Chlorine odor. I found it quite overwhelming especially while sitting in hot tub. Parking: The parking was free. Upon check-in they gave me a decal to hang in the car. The parking deck is quite small though. Be careful. I would come back!!! This is a great place to be if you don't like large crowds. It's off the beaten path and a short car ride away from the activity of Myrtle Beach.

Angela K.

Yelp
I came in from San Diego and checked in well 10pm. After settle in I take a shower. But when I looked up somebody's granny panties was hanging in my face. I called down stairs he said call when the manager is in and that he would Leave a note. Well when I spoke to the manager she was unaware of this issue. I showed her a picture. She just stood there looking at me. No apology or anything along that line. She literally just stood there. Oh she did ask me did I call front desk. No I didn't bc it was well after midnight and this was the last room. Where was I going to go?.

Anthony J.

Yelp
I don't understand the 5-star reviews. Our family stayed in a one-bedroom suite on top floor. The room was dated, but well maintained. The front desk staff was super helpful at all times, no matter how busy. The bar and restaurant staff was good, food was ok. The entire facility needs a refresh. It's too expensive for the quality of the facilities, bar, and food. The outdoor pool on the south end had a constant collection of trash and a film on one end. Just filthy. The indoor pool was scary during a pandemic. So crowded. But it was the clientele that had us shaking our heads. It's a freak show. No masks, crowding everywhere, camping out for hours and blocking off outside areas, crowding the elevators, heavy 420 smell often in elevator, all shapes and sizes. It's like a Star Wars bar scene. God bless the folks working there.

Uzair A.

Yelp
I found a good deal here during off-season by calling them directly for a discount for our vacation, and really enjoyed my stay here. This is off the beaten path, so the beach was quite secluded, and there aren't any large hotels near by, but it's still only a short drive from the attractions. Their hot tubs are really nice, and they have a nice seating area outside for when the weather is better. My only complaint was that they didn't make much concession for us to help check in early or check out a bit late to align with our flights, but that's okay - i would still stay here next time.

JeffandCarla S.

Yelp
Great value for a place to stay! Views are worth the cost of the rooms in the off season. Got a good rate in the fall and loved the view from our 12th floor balcony and from the outdoor dining area. Hotel is older but kept pretty clean. Breakfast was great but expensive for what it was. Dinner menu looked and sounded good but was overpriced for what was brought out. All of the staff was very nice and accommodating. Had some good drinks in the bar and there was a guy playing guitar outside the bar area that set a pretty good mood. My kids surely would've loved the indoor and outdoor pools if we would've brought them with us. Not too far from other attractions and restaurants. I would stay here again if I was looking for a budget friendly hotel!

Linda C.

Yelp
This was our 25th anniversary celebration. The condo was absolutely beautiful. Rocking chairs on the deck for peaceful evenings. The weather was glorious but a bit chilly. There were a few caveats... Since it was chilly, most everyone was in the hot tubs which I don't think were cleaned in the 3 days we were there, and even the kiddie pools were extremely dirty. That was a big letdown since it was too cold to get in the ocean or outdoor pools. It was a minor inconvenience to find security leaving a parking ticket on my car for having forgotten to hang my parking tag which had been left out of our packet. The restaurant there was first class, and we enjoyed. We had to call front desk a couple times before we could get a blanket. As I said, minor inconveniences, and we will return, but the hot tubs need serious cleaning.

Lexi A.

Yelp
Went this summer in July and it was beautiful! Clean lobby, friendly staff, and there is even a restaurant inside! The food was great, and everything was very clean in the room. The pools were beautiful and there was a bar near the pool. I would highly recommend!

Kimbley A.

Yelp
My husband stayed here from Monday-Thursday this week. By looking at the pictures online and the deck ocean front I thought it would be worth the high price tag, I was wrong. We arrived and I checked in a little after 4, I had a "free amenity coupon" for sharing my trip online, when I handed her my coupon, she said to just throw it away and I didn't get anything. I did purchase the beach bundle which included a beach bag and that broke the day I used it. The room is very dated, it could be repainted and use updated furniture. The bathroom was not fully cleaned, you could see the dirt on the baseboards, the nightstand was dirty. Pillows were uncomfortable. You do need a car to get around, there isn't much around the area that you can walk around. They do have a restaurant, but it can get very busy and can wait over an hour for food, you can tell the workers were stressed. The parking garage can be a hassle when 2 cars are coming and going at the same time, as there is one way in and out. Trash was piled up in the hallway as you are to empty your own trash and put it in the hall for pick up. They do have 2 pools outside and a hot tub inside with a lazy river, it's great if you have kids because it keeps them busy, they should have a pool for adults if you don't have children, as the kids are always jumping in around you (which was okay, but I am sure it could bother some, at previous hotels I've been at, they do separate them). The walk out to the beach is nice but you need to pay 45.00/day for 2 chairs and an umbrella, that should be included for the price you pay for the room, as being a tourist, I don't have my own chair and umbrella. I just find you don't get enough for the price tag and that's my own personal opinion, I haven't recommend it to anyone to stay at. The grounds outside look nice including the palm trees. There are several other places on the same street, with the same view with a balcony for much cheaper, that was my fault for not doing more research.

Brooke B.

Yelp
The food is amazing but the eggs are not. They are prepacaged I believe. Best waiter is king terri. I come here with my church group every Thursday and I force myself to wake up so I can devour my waffle and bacon and especially the breakfast potatoes. Love this place.

Christopher P.

Yelp
This was the most disappointing stay my family and I had ever experienced. We booked our suite MONTHS in advance and when asked what kind of room we were wanting my wife explained that we wanted an ocean from bedroom with a patio, in addition to the balcony off the living-room which is typically standard. We had stayed a few years prior and we stayed in a suite with these specs. We were quoted the price and booked the room. We arrived two months later only to get up go our tiny suite with a bedroom nowhere close to the ocean. It was in the back of the suite. I immediately contacted the front and got an arrogant, condescending salesman type of guy, who basically said that they messed up and there's nothing they could do but give us an hpvrads that would cost an additional $400!!. So you mess up our reservation made months in advance and have the audacity to charge us $400 more?. We felt duped after traveling 6 hours. They knew we had nowhere else to go after driving 6 hours and took advantage of us. I have a feeling they do this to a lot of people. They promise you a certain suite and when you show up, suddenly you are screwed and made to pay hundreds more. We couldn't go anywhere else because places were full. I don't trust the reservation folks at all now and still not stay here again. They really should have given us a free upgrade but because of greed, and having zero integrity, that didn't happen. To add insult go injury, I checked my receipt upon check out and they charged our card even more!!. But the worst of it all was the blood stain in the pillow case in the bedroom. Never again will we stay there. Do better by your customers!

Jeanette G.

Yelp
I visited this past weekend and was provided with residential suite which included 3 clean, spacious bedrooms for family of 8. The service was terrible from the moment we arrived as they stated that our room would not be available because it was given away.. it was obvious my Dominican cousins were already being mistreated but wait there's more. They have several guards that pick on black and brown people as white families are left to do as they please with no harassment. Trust that I knew I would experience racism at this beach but not allllll throughout my stay and continuously!! They watched us in the cameras and kept track of our towels and threatened to charge us extra for towels that we had already returned. I enjoyed the beach and the pool area no matter what harassment and surveillance I experienced. I do need to warn people that this place is not friendly towards black and brown people at all so that's the reason for this review. Also, as I was leaving there was a black family checking in and they were telling them the same thing they told my aunt and cousins (that the room was unavailable) I think they may be doing this to all the families of color. I'm not going to return to this beach just wanted to tag along with my aunt and experience it and that is done!

Yelp
So I need to start by saying that each room is individually owned. While Island Vista maintains the rooms, I found out each unit is owned and decorated by the owner. That being said, the room we stayed in was a three bedroom, full ocean view. However, the refrigerator did not work. The dryer did not turn off and a load of clothes was ruined. And, to top things off, the hair dryer sparked when turned on and almost started a fire. We spent the first day of vacation waiting for maintenance to replace the refrigerator (whoo hoo!). They offered to replace the dryer too but we did not want to spend our vacation waiting for appliances that worked. They should be replaced in between guests as, according to housekeeping, the last guest had the same complaints! To compensate us, they took $100 off the room charge but that was a one-time credit, not every night. They should have compensated us for the day with the lost food and wasted time. The carpets and furniture in the unit we stayed in need to be replaced. They are old, worn and dirty. They could do a better job cleaning the rooms in between guests as well. There were wrappers under the bed. Although they did a really nice job cleaning the rooms, replacing the towels and such on a daily basis. On the porch, there was a wooden knife and the covering was coming off. It was clear that someone had tried to tear it off, whether it be a guest or maintenance. Not sure if I would recommend this resort, definitely not the unit we stayed. The resort is on the beach and the pools are great, big pluses for a vacation. Just wish the appliances worked and the room provided what was promised.

Yelp
Extremely DANGEROUS room conditions!! Before you book - Please read regarding my stay December 22-24, 2017 at the Island Vista Resort. On December 23, 2017 my mom went down to the lobby and reported an incident that happened while she was getting out of the shower of in the master bathroom along with many other issues we had with the room. While we enjoyed the pool facilities, there were MANY dangerous problems with the room we were staying in. The main issue that cause my mom to go down and speak with the front desk was when one of the brackets from the towel rack crashed down on her foot when she was getting out of the shower. Thankfully, she was the first person to use this shower, because it could've easily been worse if the bracket crashed down on my 3-year old son! This dangerous hazard was just one of many we encountered in our room. Unfortunately, the front desk employee ( I believe his name was Chris) tried to make the situation a joking matter by telling my mom he was an EMT and not to stress because it was Christmas...but he NEVER once actually took the time to look at her foot. She reported all the issues and was told someone would contact us. On January 2, 2018 she sent an email to four different management levels of the Island Vista because she had yet to be contacted by anyone. On January 6, she received a call from Mark at the resort and he left me a voicemail. She finally spoke to him on January 8, 2018, while I was sitting next to her. He told her Chris did write a full report and the issues were because the resort hadn't had a chance to do their "yearly" sweep of each room. This was why the conditions were not up to standards & somewhat dangerous. He told my mom they have just been too busy and hope to address all the issues in the next month. He also apologized and said he would be talking to the owners and getting back with my mom on what to do with compensation of a stay or refund for the injury she suffered. It has been over a month and she still haven't heard back from Mark or anyone at the Island Vista Resort. I would think twice before staying here not only because of the issues with the rooms, but also because of the complete lack of concern with the management and owners! Below is a list of items we that were wrong with the room and reported to the front desk: Towel bracket crashed down on my moms foot when I grabbed a towel getting out of the shower! This wasn't an ordinary bracket, this thing has heavy & caused instant bruising, a cut and hair-line fracture on my foot!!! The bed frame for one of the beds in 2nd bedroom was sized for a twin bed. The Mattress flipped when we got there and sat on it! We had to fix it ourselves so that my son could take his nap because it took maintenance over 2-hours to come to our room. The vent was literally coming off the ceiling in the 2nd bathroom! The freezer door would not stay closed. I did not take a picture of this, but my son-in-law hit the back of his head twice when getting items out of the refrigerator because it would swing open! There was lipstick , yes LIPSTICK on the supposedly clean sheets in the 2nd bedroom!

Yelp
I have stayed at Island Vista several times and the service has always been great. Checking in, room service and cleanliness have all been on point as well.

Yelp
A wonderful view & great resort. Clean well appointed units, friendly staff, and plenty to do. Two pools & hot tub outside & hot tub, lazy river, kids play area inside. Tiki bar outside with good good & drinks by pool. I loved Morgan. She gave us great service & tips on what to do. The Cypress room restaurant was top notch with view of ocean. A great place to get away.

Yelp
We loved our stay at Island Vista! Pros: -entire staff super friendly and courteous -rooms look just like pictures -housekeeping was awesome, Kelly was our housekeeper and she was very nice -Tiki hut at pool great spot for lunch, reasonably priced, and food better than I anticipated (fish tacos absolutely delicious) -pool area nicely kept up for the most part -kids area in indoor pool very nice -free DVD rentals -Cypress Room, hotel restaurant good for happy hour (get lobster nachos, huge chunks of lobster!) -beautiful oceanfront view -easy beach access, beaches well maintained Cons: -chairs and umbrellas have to be rented on Beach at $40 per day, which we thought was steep. Probably controlled by City of Myrtle, but would be nice if hotel had these available. -be sure to ask how towels work at check in, was a bit unclear at first. -Cypress Room at breakfast, no one waited on us for about 15 min.

Yelp
I made reservations over a month ago for my husbands birthday dinner at the Cypress Room. We arrived June 21,2020 and it seemed like a nice cool place to enjoy. The views were great, we had an awesome Margarita as we were waiting for our table. Once we were sat, we were handed a limited menu, which had basically nothing. I purposely picked the Cypress room because online, the dinner menu looked amazing. Waitress came over and tried to explain why their was only limited menu blah blah blah. I told her this was false advertising, and i was disgusted on how they run a business. NO ONE ever notified me before our dinner reservation that it was not going to be a full menu. After a minute, we decided to leave and i was left looking for a place to take my husband for his birthday dinner. Wont go back again. Very disappointed.

Yelp
The staff has been generally rude (except Security). Garbage piled up in the hallways causing quite a stench. The building was being power washed early in the morning which woke up our kids. When questioning the manager at the front desk what the sound was which sounded like a jack hammer, he was rude, disrespectful and didn't even look up from his computer to answer. Definitely doesn't deserve to have his picture on the table when you come in. Not impressed.

Yelp
The only thing good about this place is that it is beachfront. The parking lot is narrow and cramped and the hotel is like a large super 8. For the price I was expecting much better accommodations moldy showers and run down lobby and hallway areas weren't part of my expectations. This place is poorly maintained the only redeeming quality is the balcony we had a 4 bedroom suite and the view from the balcony is killer!! This is the one redeeming quality. I do not recommend this place for the price I think you could do better I don't think I will return here again

Yelp
WOW! WOW! WOW! My husband and I recently stayed here. It was it's own private getaway. It was very clean, quiet, and each room has an ocean view. It was October, during a pandemic so it wasn't very crowded. The staff was helpful, especially Steven in maintenance and Crystal in housekeeping. If you're looking for a place to stay... look no further, this is the place! I look forward to coming back in a few weeks!

Yelp
My husband and I booked this resort for our honeymoon last week based largely on decent Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, we did not have the same experiences many of you had. Upon arrival, the service was slow and un-engaging, but sufficient. The clientele checking in next to us was sketchy, but we still had high hopes. It was when we went to park in the attached "garage" that we found old mattresses, discarded furniture, and piles of trash stuffed into the corners for what looked like several weeks. When we got to the room, it smelled of must and urine. Several lights didn't work, the chairs were stained, the bed didn't have fitted sheets, the carpet was torn, and our "ocean view" was blocked by a giant palm tree right outside our window. The worst part of our experience with this resort is what came next. My husband called the front desk to explain the situation and we were met with sarcastic, unprofessional, and flippant remarks. The person claimed to only be a part time manager and didn't not have the authority to fix the situation or give us our money back. Luckily, our honeymoon had a happy ending despite our experience with Island Vista. We found an amazing hotel (Marina Inn At Grande Dunes) and the Island Vista's regular manager called us the next day to apologize and offer a full refund. You get what you pay for!

Yelp
Overall a good experience. Good service, friendly, good restaurant and bar, 3 nice pools (2 outdoor and one adventure shape with tube path and waterfall indoor) and private beach that is never crowded. Also it is nice that the hotel is not near any other ones which makes it sorta private. Also the building has free DVD rental with the most recent movies. :) The bad: wifi is very patchy and cuts in and out. Some of the wifi signals around the building don't work either. To sum it up, YES I would come back.

Yelp
My daughter discovered this resort online as we had never been to MB. We drove down from Boston for a week on the beach and were greeted by friendly front desk staff, attentive bell men and a really clean and well equipped suite with gorgeous beach front views. The resort is very popular with families and although it was crowded. We were easily able to get chairs poolside and had an umbrella and beach chairs we rented. There was parking in two garages,a bit tight for our full sized SUV, manageable. The pools were clean and the common areas well kept. Being directly on the beach with multiple pools was terrific. I would refer this resort to anyone looking for a beach front resort away from the overly populated South side of MB. It is very convenient and we had an enjoyable stay. The free wifi service was spotty; my only issue.

Yelp
Great resort. Not over crowded around it mostly houses not resorts. Exceptional pools and swimming areas both indoors and outdoors. Highlighted by an exceptional lazy river that has waterfalls, tunnels, and lots of rain makers so it's extra fun! The majority of all the rooms are oceanfront however there are some rooms with two queen beds that are on the side they still have an ocean view just not a great one. The parking decks are connected to the building which I love and decent space in the parking spots. They have a DVD machine that gives you free DVD rentals for your stay and they give you a card to access it. Surprisingly there were very new movies in the machine too! The room was comfy and they have nice rocking chairs on the balcony, a big fridge, DVD player, and cable that actually has a cable box with a guide not that normal crappy hotel room cable.

Yelp
Been coming here since about 2010. Great place with the restaurant, tiki bar pools and all that. Rooms are a little outdated with popcorn ceilings and wall papers. The tv's also need to be swapped out for smart tvs so people can easily log into their netflix, hulu, play a game ext. internet on the 9th floor was pretty good. Although there are dead spots. MAIN CONCERN* my main concern is right now in 2020 the power has gone out and everything is of course not available, internet lights, laundry, tv, refrigerator. Being logged out of my online meeting immediately, missing important information. Also the people who use the pool are compared to pigs! They leave orange wedges and lemon peels and trash all around the pool! Really disgusting standards, this place NEEDS a few updates.

Yelp
We were in Myrtle Beach in June 2019. We regret ever going to the Island Vista Resort. I would give this resort negative stars if I could. We were scammed to believe we were getting an ocean view room, and they gave us a partial view. We were expecting a King bed and they gave us two full beds (which they said were Queen - but were not) The Wi-Fi did not work. When we called the help desk, they said they would send someone to our room the next day between 10 am-1 pm. We are on vacation. Why do we want to stay in our room for 3 hours waiting for someone to help with Wi-Fi? Our doorbell to our unit did not work. And the room we were at had one door into another small hallway, where there were two different unit doors. So every time the other unit would leave, you would hear two doors slam. It was awful. The room wouldn't cool down either. We went to the front desk to ask for a different room and they wouldn't switch us. They said they were full, but I honestly believe they could have found another room for us. They did offer to have someone come to fix the doors to our rooms to try and quiet them down. We were so dissatisfied with the lack of assistance at all, that we checked out immediately. We are definitely not impressed with the Island Vista resort.

Yelp
Delicious meal, friendly service, and FABULOUS entertainment!! Glenn Taylor is the best!!! First heard him in Chapel Hill over 30 years ago and he's even better now!!

Yelp
The island vista is the perfect home away from home. One of the highlights: it is in a great location (quick ride to the airport, stores, broadway). The rooms are clean, the beach view is magnificent, and the staff are all very nice.

Yelp
It is a nice place to stay, but for the money it's costly. So if you add up travel (gas or flight), food, entertainment. You may as well go on a Cruise (all inclusive). But if you want a nice, but pricey getaway it is nice...
