"Why book? Islamorada is one of the most popular Keys (with good reason), and the Islander Resort is in the heart of it all. It has a prime location right on the water, but it’s also conveniently close to the many restaurants and attractions that define Islamorada. Set the scene Low-key and laidback, this resort attracts a flip-flop-and-T-shirt-wearing kind of crowd. If you’re looking for posh, look elsewhere; but if you want comfortable accommodations that won’t soak you, the Islander fits the bill. It’s why you’ll find everyone from couples to families with young kids here. The rooms Colorful artwork and stunning water views remind you that you are indeed in America’s Caribbean—but with sleek, contemporary styling and nary a rattan chair or seashell in sight, you could be convinced otherwise. Families appreciate the full kitchens and added space of the Outrigger One-Bedroom Suite and Curry Key Two-Bedroom Suite. Food and drink Tides Beachside Bar & Grill is casual and great for on the go, while Elements is open for sit-down breakfast and dinner daily. The service Friendly and welcoming, staff members are always ready with great advice. Don’t miss a snorkel or boat tour with Islander Girl, based here. For families Two saltwater pools and a kids splash pad mean that the little ones will have plenty to keep them busy on site. Older kids will enjoy the beach games, kayaks, paddleboards, and bike rentals. Eco effort Landscaping is maintained by an irrigation system that uses reclaimed water. Anything left to mention? Seats at the pool are in high demand, so snag one early." - Nancy DePalma

Tucked away in the northern Keys, this is a great resort that I was told was recently remodeled over the last couple of years. This resort has everything. From mini golf to kayaks, there are plenty of activities for adults and kids. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the bed mattresses are quality, providing you with great rest. Each room has a private front/back porch area and it’s not a far walk to the beach. The food is good and there are multiple pools that you can access.

e stayed at Island Resort in Islamorada, Florida, in June, and we have to say – it’s one of the most beautiful and best resorts we’ve seen in the United States. Absolutely stunning design. It’s nothing like the typical American style – you can tell that the owners put a lot of thought and investment into every detail. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the entire resort feels like a dream – almost like being in the Maldives. Of course, the beach isn’t quite like the Maldives, but the setting is magical: lush green paths, brand-new bungalows, all surrounded by nature. I was honestly speechless that a place like this exists in the U.S. The value for money is outstanding. We’ve stayed at much worse hotels for the same price. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the Florida Keys. You don’t have to stay in Key West – this resort is only about two hours away and offers an experience you won’t find elsewhere for the price. The feeling of sipping a cocktail after sunset, maybe taking a dip in the pool, grabbing a small bite to eat – all while surrounded by beautiful colors, natural materials, and thoughtful architecture – is simply amazing. I’m not a friend, relative, or someone who knows the owners. I have no idea who they are. I’m just a former hotel owner who truly appreciates when someone puts so much care into the small things – the furniture, the layout, the details. It’s just

The resort was fabulous! Jada at the pool restaurant was kind, warm and very attentive. Really enjoyed my time here! The property was beautiful and the staff at Drift were very attentive. Nick took us to a few spots on the island in the cart, and was very warm. Overall the hotel staff was kind and attentive.

Beautiful pools and ocean views. Two large floats in the ocean. Lots of seating and lounge chairs. Great bar with really good fish dip and Greek salad. A/c worked great. Private patio area that was roomy. Clean, clean, clean. Very customer focused!

Why stay anywhere else! Everything was wonderful. My wife has stayed in 5 stars all around the world and was floored with this place. Room furnishings, design, and decor were outstanding. The food and various outdoor activities and dining / drinking stations make staying within the resort fun and convenient. We booked an extra day cause we didn't want it to end. We will definitely return.

We love coming to the Islander and have been coming for many years now. First off the glow up is unreal. The property looks amazing and all the new amenities are top notch. There’s just one thing that has always been an issue for me at this resort and that, is the beds. They are the most uncomfortable beds I have EVER slept in. I’m a side sleeper and will experience shoulder pain a day or two after coming home from a stay here. PLEASE Invest in either new mattresses or perhaps mattress toppers for a truly 5 star experience. Otherwise the new rooms are so nice and the staff is super welcoming and warm. Food is good. Drinks are good. Pools amazing. Location 10/10.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Islander Resort from June 23–26 for a combination of work and leisure, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.||From the moment we arrived, everything ran smoothly—from the beautiful accommodations to the impeccable service throughout our stay. We enjoyed several memorable moments, including a stunning sunset cruise coordinated by the hotel and fantastic meals at Drift Restaurant (don’t skip the cocktails!). The pool area was the perfect place to unwind between activities.||A huge thank you to the behind-the-scenes heroes: Joy, the area manager, and Anna, our director of events, who made our two days of well-organized meetings run without a hitch. Though you may not see them out front, they were the quiet engines behind the flawless execution of our group’s experience.||Special shoutout to Josh, the F&B manager, for keeping everything running smoothly and making sure we were well taken care of at every meal. And to Joe and Zach, who were ever-present and helpful in the conference space—thank you for your attention to detail and positive attitudes.||This resort blends the relaxed charm of the Keys with professional polish. Can’t wait to return—whether for another retreat or just to soak in more sunsets.

The Drift Restaurant located in the Islander Resort, Islamorada Florida Keys, is the most delicious food served in the most exquisite Tropical resort. The staff were so professional and accommodating. We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary, so they gave us delicious champagne and the manager as well as the servers, came over to congratulate us. This ocean resort and restaurant receives my 10 star plus!!!!!! we can't wait to go back there!!!!

Yelp
We booked a house at the Bayside villas, not realizing that they were almost a mile away from the actual resort. We asked the management if we could switch to a room at the resort, since we have a small child and thought it would be easier than driving back and forth for the pool, restaurants, etc. The staff advised that this was "not fair", even though the we paid more for the villa than a we would have paid for a suite at the resort. This property should be more transparent about the setup of the property. However, the location is convenient if you want to walk to some restaurants and Allison at the front desk of the villas was really helpful and delightful.

Yelp
Great secluded spot in the Keys. Multiple pools, beach access with free access to paddle board & kayaks, and arguably the best key lime colada I had while on my Florida Keys vacation. Unfortunately when we arrived, there was some sort of maintenance issue in one of the rooms we originally booked which delayed our check in time by a few hours. In reading the reviews, it sounds like maintenance issues are somewhat common. But the customer service was great; they were apologetic and gave us a couple drink coupons for the beach bar (where I discovered the delicious key lime coladas). When the maintenance took longer than expected, they ended up just upgrading one of our rooms to a premium suite. We ended up with probably one of the best rooms in the whole resort- beachfront and equipped with a full kitchen, living room, separate bedroom and soaking tub. Really turned around our day after having to wait several hours to check in. Overall had a lovely stay and even our other basic room was comfortable and spacious.

Yelp
This was our first time here and we will certainly be back! The rooms are renovated and decor is beachy and cute. The rooms have a small desk, mini fridge, TV, couch and a closet with bathrobes. The back patio area is very spacious with a table and chairs for eating as well as a few loungers. The room felt more like a private villa and we loved it! The beach area is rather large with a dedicated swimming area and beach chairs. They have kayaks and paddle boards available, free of charge. They also have bikes which we used and enjoyed. They have the beach setup for cornhole, volleyball, ping pong, basketball, etc. The swimming pool area has two pools- saltwater and chlorine, as well as hot tub. They were undergoing renovations but they still had a bar available and Rachel was making amazing Mai Tais! They have dedicated activities on each day but I believe they may all come with a cost, which wasnt indicated on the daily sheet they provide. We showed up for tie dye and it cost us $20 per shirt. I wasn't thrilled about that but you live and learn.

Tracy W.

Yelp
Very relaxing resort with lots to offer. Rooms are renovated and very nice. Some rooms allow dogs. The resort offers two pools plus a hot tub. They even serve drinks by the pool. Lots of lounge chairs. Ocean front with lounge chairs and designed swimming area. They have bicycles and kayaks. Two restaurants- one for breakfast and the other for lunch and dinner. This resort makes you feel a world away from everything. No stress here. Great place to stay. You may never leave.

Yelp
Major props to the banquet crew. We were having issues up till the day of the wedding and Zach and Joe were professional and accommodating and saved the day. They were able to pivot and make adjustments to make sure our day was special. There was alot of confusion but they were able to change on the drop of a dime and made our wedding day amazing. There aren't enough words to express my appreciation to them for their flexibility and work and discretion to not stress the bride. We had a beautiful wedding thanks to this crew

Yelp
First time staying at Islander Resort as we wanted a mini getaway. Upon arrival at the lobby, it is clean and service was attentive. There are two pools and a hot tub that overlooks the beach. We didn't try the restaurants as we brought our food. Overall, we had a nice time. Im rating this place a 4 stars as it appears they are super strict on the check in time for 4pm. Our party arrived at 1pm and I was hoping our room would be ready by 2pm since check out is 11am. Suggestion: more umbrellas are needed by the pool area.

M T.

Yelp
We stayed here for 6 nights and 7 days. A few of those days were washouts because of a storm passing by. Overall, this resort is a solid 3 star, but once all the construction is over, it is scheduled to be done by the end of 2024, according to the staff. We were also told they are planning on adding another restaurant and more rooms on the other side of the resort which wouldn't interfere with people staying at the resort. This place could have the makings of a 4+ star once everything is completed. They are redoing the second pool at this time, along with some of the rooms. They are also adding more activities which look like a basketball court, 9 hole mini-golf, and a few other activities. We also thought the staff were very helpful and nice. When we arrived early, we were able to check in, but our room wasn't ready, so they take your number and text you when it's ready while you're able to use the resort. They'll also text you during your stay with updates and to see if you need anything, or you can text them if you need anything. When you get into your room, which ours was very clean, you get complementary snacks, 2 cans of local alcohol drinks and sunglasses which are pretty good. They also give you a bar of soap for washing your hands, and body wash, conditioner, shampoo and the shower has great water pressure. There's also a coffee maker with togo cups and glassware. In your room you also have a safe, a fridge and a full-size clothes steamer. The only thing missing is a microwave. Plenty of usb ports and outlets throughout the room and the AC and fan worked great. There's also a great outdoor sitting area with a fan in the rear of the room with a table, chairs and benches or lounge chairs, depending on your room. One thing that they offer during certain hours which is great, especially if you are going to drink, is a ride service which goes 1.5 miles north or south of the resort, which is basically north to the Publix supermarket and south to the midway cafe. Just make sure you tip your driver. Just text the front desk with your room and location you are going to, and they'll pick you up, and they'll even pick you up and bring you back to the resort. If you're going to use their washer($2) and dryer($1.50), make sure to bring quarters and detergent. At the resort you can also use kayaks, paddle boards, bicycles (we suggest bringing a bike lock/chain so if you take it off the resort) and there are plenty of towels by the pool and beach area. There's also a couple of watering stations to fill your refillable water bottle. You can also fish off the pier and if you don't have fishing gear you can rent it from one of the local spots and if you catch anything, most local restaurants will cook it and have deals as long as it's the legal size and in season, so check with the laws. We will come back, but not till after the construction is over. Just some things we would've liked were a microwave in the room, a way to enter the room from the rear door and a window that we could open with a screen.

Yelp
My family of five stayed at the Bayside Villas. While about a mile from the islander on the bayside, there's a convenient shuttle to go back and forth. We enjoyed the amenities at the Islander for sure--pool, beach, pier, sand vb court, basketball court, bocce ball, etc. Bayside Villas provide easy access to most of IM. Beds were comfy, views gorgeous and Alison at the front desk is amazing! Website describes kitchens as being gourmet--better than the worst Airbnb we've stayed in but gourmet is off the mark--worked for our daily breakfast anyway. We loved IM and hope to come back!

Yelp
Beautiful, comfy beds, pet friendly, nice pools, friendly staff. Hreat for a romantic getaway, or time with the kids. This place is just great

Leodalys L.

Yelp
I came with my husband to celebrate and enjoy our anniversary and we love it. We wish we had arrived a little earlier to enjoy all the stuff they have inside their resort. Starting for the check-in was easy and the entrance was clean and pretty. The people and service were good, the reception was pretty nice and informative. Parking is easy and close to the amenities. The pool area and beach area were perfect. Enough space, the water was just at the perfect temperature, and the hot tub was nice too. We tried some Po boy fish sandwich at the bar and was perfectly cooked and fresh, the chickennchiplote chowder was good too. The drinks were good and the prices were excellent. Is a perfect place to go for a day or weekend of relaxation, as a couple with the whole family has everything you need in the resort, bikes, volleyball, kayaks, paddleboards...you don't need to go anywhere because this resort is well equipped.

Yelp
Dear Management Team, attention especially Jazline and Shand who this review is for. I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the recent experience my partner and I had during our stay at Islander resort . Our visit, which was meant to be a relaxing getaway, turned into a series of unfortunate incidents that showcased the hotel's severe shortcomings in both customer service and overall management. Upon check-in, we were allocated a room that the staff and management were well aware had pre-existing issues. The TV was malfunctioning, the phone was inoperative, and it was evident that the room wasn't in a condition fit for guests. When we raised these concerns, the offered solution was an inconvenience beyond measure. We were compelled to abruptly relocate rooms in the middle of the night, disrupting our sleep and necessitating the inconvenience of repacking all our belongings. Throughout this ordeal, the lack of proactive assistance or even basic consideration from the management was glaringly evident. There was a profound absence of willingness to rectify the situation or provide any form of compensation or gesture to alleviate our inconvenience. The overall attitude of the staff, especially the management, was not only unhelpful but also dismissive and frustrating. Despite being assured that the manager or the GM would reach out to me daily during our stay, not a single attempt was made to contact me, let alone offer an apology for the inconveniences we faced. In summary, our stay at Islander resort was marred by substandard customer service, a management team that lacked accountability, and a glaring disregard for ensuring guests' comfort and satisfaction. I sincerely hope that this feedback prompts the necessary improvements in your establishment's operations and service delivery to prevent others from enduring similar experiences in the future. Also, worthy to note the grounds need a significant amount of fixes, specially pool beach area and all the walking paths there's construction there's holes it's very dangerous. Very not cool.! Sincerely, Coco

Joe S.

Yelp
Am here for my wife and my honeymoon and they treated us fantastic off the start. Got rum punch when we walked in, got a bottle of champagne and a beach view because it was available. The fishing pier was on fire and caught fish right off the bat and my wife said "now this is a honeymoon"

Risa L.

Yelp
This was our first time staying at the Islander in the Florida Keys. It was very nice...exceptionally clean and had all of the amenities. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. I have to call out Jessica at the Tides outside bar. She was exceptionally pleasant, efficient, and helpful. I highly recommend this resort. They are also pet friendly and even have a nice fenced-in area for exercising your pup. My husband and I will definitely return.

Joel A.

Yelp
We just got back from vacation and the ocean side we ordered didn't have ac. We moved to the Bayside for there to be bug and beer cans in the room. Or room keys locked us out multiple time which we had to wait for the maintenance man from ocean side. The fire alarm went off at 9pm and 12am untill the local fire and police showed up. I had to clean the pool the 3 days my family wanted to swim. We went down to grill when my son opened the lid and a rat jumped at him. So yes the place is eventful.

Sfl C.

Yelp
Under construction and was not told about it before booking , extremely disappointed in the way this resort is run. Went there for a friends wedding and was greated with construction equipment and construction workers parked just outside the venue . Great visual when you are there for a wedding. The wedding party that stayed at the resort had to look at the construction mess from their balcony, great view for $600/ night. No apologies or anything from management. I will never recommend this place to anyone.

Paula B.

Yelp
"Nixie" at customer service desk decided to lie to us We asked for late arrival and then the next day they said they can't do it So unprofessional We paid $1000 a night for a pet friendly room After checking out a few hours later we saw we got charged a "cleaning fee" of $80 for bringing a pet to a "pet friendly room" they didn't said anything about extra fees Undisclosed, nowhere it was stated about any pet fees The front desk staff didn't have the audacity to tell us about the extra charge in person when we were there Our room was also full of ants all over the place

Isabel C.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this stay!!! I gotta say I do wanna go back again because it was just amazing !! My family loved our stay amazing service and great prices

Anne P.

Yelp
We were very disappointed with how they handled the constant construction work during the day.Not as relaxing as we had hoped. jack hammers could be heard the entire day while trying to sit and enjoy the view. They really should have notified us and others of the renovations taking place! A bit sneaky if you ask me.

Adriel C.

Yelp
I was looking for a place to spend the day at the pool and found this one on resort pass. The place is well maintained with a nice view. The front desk was friendly and very helpful, the only issue I had was with the pool staff. The lady working the pool taking food and drink order needs to work on her customer service skill. Sometimes we were waiting for a long time just to place an order after we had told her that we wanted to place an order, and when we did you can tell she was bother. The resort was called and the manager was nice enough to help with the inconvenience.

Joshua E.

Yelp
The Islander Resort was great. We stopped in for happy hour and sunset. Beautiful spot to enjoy end of day. Beautiful beach, too. Nice, live island music. Mo was the best thing of all. Very kind. Hospitable. Appreciative. We'll be back!

Martine K.

Yelp
We had a very nice stay here. It was supposed to be 2 nights but due to a death in the family we could only come the second night. The staff was very understanding and I truly appreciated it. Upon checking in to the lobby I was greeted by 2 lovely staff members and told about the property. Our room and bathroom were clean, large and very comfortable. We strolled the grounds to the beach area which is quite expansive. We did not have time to enjoy the amenities as we had a wedding nearby but we would love to come back and take advantage of it someday.

C A.

Yelp
People that work there are RUDE. For check in, no one but a cleaning lady (who wouldn't look at or speak to us) was there. Waited about 10 mins to see a front desk person. We are on our honeymoon and we were put next to a room with 2 very loud kids that woke up at 6am every morning. The pictures portray a much better view than reality. No warning of construction going on here. No room service/cleaning YET and on day 2. I'm STILL waiting on towels and washcloths to shower after asking for them 8 hours ago and again an hour ago...For the money we spent to stay here for the week, I am sorely disappointed- AT LEAST give us more towels and washcloths daily!!!

Bill B.

Yelp
Located in the beautiful Keys, but I honestly think everyone working here hates their job. The service sucks, room cleaning sucks, we have a $1000 a night room and the house keeping leaves trash outside. I called to have someone pick up the trash, they never did. I asked 4 time far a chair to be brought to the room, it never was delivered. The bar tenders out loud complain about making drinks calling them pain in the ass drinks. The towel girls are as friendly as a rock. And there is NO beach to speak of. The beach area feels like some concrete with hard packed sand on top. Needless to say, don't waste your time or money here. Rooms are very small for the price. Lastly sitting outside on our porch and all we can smell is the people next-door smoking. Took our concerns to the hotel management and they were useless. Wanted to know the specific times and people we spoke to. Like we keep a conversation log while on vacation. Again she was RUDE and sounded like she hated her job.

Defacto S.

Yelp
My wife climbed on a big raft (they call it a water cabana) off the beach. A cabana boy quickly ran up and yelled $300, $300, $300 - instead of maybe "Sir, if you want to use the 'Water Cabana' it is $300 daily."? I gave him an @ss chewing becuase his initial tone was rude, especially when talking to a customer. I then felt bad, told the kid I know he was just doing his job and I shouldn't have barked at him. He then preceded to have a complete melt down, yelling at me and the sand, and then picked up and slammed the Cabana sign in the sand next to the entrance to the waterway, to make sure no one else missed it :-). Needless to say, not the 'Keys' experience I was expecting or paid for. Never again.

Ralph T.

Yelp
This place is definitely overrated, overpriced and under delivered in all aspects. Form the day we arrived until the day we left this place was a joke. They placed us next to an area that was under construction and they started work at 6:30 am with the workers being as loud as they could. When I approached the receptionist I was told "oh well". So their solution was to offer us a discount or leave. We couldn't do that because we were there with family for a wedding. Room service was all but nonexistent. We had to ask for them to come take out our trash, make the bed and change out the towels. Heck we even had to ask for toilet paper.....yes toilet paper. They never swept the floors of the sand or even changed out the sheets even when asked. The beach bar changes an average of $12 per drink if you're lucky. One morning the front desk called us to inform us that they were going to pressure wash the front porch.....which they never did, yet they had to call us to wake us up. Bottom line, find a better higher quality place where customer service is a priority. There are nicer places nearby. Definitely we do NOT recommend this so called resort.

Tamisa M.

Yelp
The Islander has a big beach property very nice, pools the jacuzzi is extremly hot you can't go in at all they should try to fix Tides restaurant is okay the greek beach restaurant is better. They issue we had was the mattress was firm like a board, the patio door weights a ton i got a pain in my arm from opening and closing to go out to the pool and taking dog out. The website pics show door can stay open not they can't. I asked if I can please change to a room with a normal mattress they said they only have one type of mattress it was too hard for my family. The night rate is 387 plus tax and fees. The garden rooms are the only rooms you can take a your dog can use some upgrading for the price they charge is yet not so good. The property is big nice for relaxing, but the beds are uncomfortable.

Randy P.

Yelp
Very strange experience. We arrived at resort at 2:30 pm on a Friday to celebrate my birthday for 2 nights. I was told the room would be ready by 4pm. Checked in at 4:25pm into a room that was already occupied. Yes, the front desk put us in someone else's room 212 with their bags still in the room. We brought our bags from car about 75 feet to an occupied room. Then we had to return to car with bags in tow. No offer to help us with bags. No apology. Not a well run resort. At front desk now waiting for another room and they told us could wait an hour or so for the room to be cleaned or move us to a different room and then we move again tomorrow. Oh well. Oh and we will probably miss our 5:30 reservation as a result. Update: we were moved at 8pm to the room we paid for. Paid $1500 a night and finally moved in to room 112 from 212. The 200 rooms DO NOT have ocean views from your room except the last most eastern room. The staff will try to tell you that they do give you an ocean view, but I guarantee you, you do not. After we complained via text, we were finally moved to the room we paid for. Why they didn't move it to this room when we checked in at 3 PM I will never know. Very strange experience all in all we finally got the room we paid for, but had negotiate and complain numerous times. Not sure what their advantage was by keeping a room from us that we had paid for but it is what it is. I don't think I will stay at this resort again. The front desk lady on Friday evening March 1st was very nice and accommodating. She finally fixed our problem but no explanation why we weren't given the room we paid for from the start. I would give her 5 stars but the resort is not ready to move up to the heavy hitters of islamorada resorts. Cheeca lodge or another resort next time.

Juliet L.

Yelp
This is a nice property. The check -in staff were very professional and very accommodating for my friends who needed a disability room. The rooms were beautiful but , even though we were in the building closest to the ocean, you couldn't see the ocean for the overgrowth of plants and bushes. That was rather disappointing. To be so close to the ocean and not be able to see it from your room seems like a huge missed opportunity for this property. A lot of the beach staff were on their cell phones, as I biked pass them, wishing everyone a pleasant, "good morning'. Sadly none of them looked up from their phones to return my greeting. Oh well.. this is 2023, the generation addicted to cell phones. Sunrises over the ocean here were epic! Beautiful!!! Lots of chairs for guests, on the beach but the ground is hard and very rocky. You cannot walk bare foot here, so be sure to wear flip flops. Part of the property is under construction still. I don't know what they are planning but I sure hope they leave the wide open space for people to be able to see the ocean. It seemed silly to me to be so close to the ocean and get stuck with a 'garden view'. I don't know anyone - if given a choice- would choose a garden view over the ocean. The way the property is laid out, everyone could have been able to see the ocean if they cut the jungle of overgrown trees and bushes down. The Tides bar was nice, the wait staff was super friendly but we were disappointed to learn that they no longer serve dinner at the nice restaurant and no pig roast on Saturday nights either. I was really looking forward to that. Islander Resort webmaster, Update your website so you don't keep disappointing your guests! I know staffing a place like this is getting harder, post-pandemic so I understood why my bathroom had no conditioner in the dispenser , or the fact that some of the lightbulbs were out but, I could swear every night at midnight the AC would just shut off and only come back on at 6am in the morning. Perhaps this is an energy-saving step? Don't know but I sure was hot those nights. The Saturday night live music.... Hmmm.... Well, the guy played the electric piano and tambourine incredibly well... like... genius-level excellent... and then he started singing. . He needs to stick with playing the piano,... only. Breakfast at the restaurant, near the entrance of the property was excellent! The food was great and the staff even better!! Desiraye was our waiter and did a phenominal job recommending everything from what we might like to eat , to where we should go for souvenir shopping. Desiraye even recommended the chicken maple apple sausage. It was the best tasting sausage I ever ate!! Desiraye and the other wait staff were pleasant, personable and Very friendly!! They all would definitely be one of the reasons we would go back there again! The only thing that would make it better is if the place had an ocean view... and served dinner! I would have eaten there for dinner! The executive chef is a genius! Unfortunately, while I was on a bike ride around the property, I failed to clear the part where the road ended and the gravel began. I wiped out on the gravel. - bike was unharmed but my leg got scrapped up pretty bad . To my surprise, for a resort property, there was no first aid kit to be found, anywhere. I needed peroxide to clean the wound and some antibiotic ointment to prevent infection... but the property only had hand sanitizer. I had no options. I had to use it,(insert screaming , here) until I could get to the CVS. Moral of the story, you guys reeeeaally need to get first aid kits and place them in strategic places like your front desk, the bike shack, the pool deck... etc. Overall, I gave this a 3 out of 5 stars because of no ocean views unless you walked right up to the beach and some customer service fails . We traveled several houses for a resort on the ocean. What we got was not what I expected.

Yelp
Beautiful resort! We stayed 5 days. Drank at the bar and ate wonderful food each night. Breakfast at Elements is good as well. Rooms and grounds are breathtaking . Love all the landscaping and the lights in the palm trees at night. Pools heated. Staff is very accommodating and friendly.

Yelp
I had a great time at this hotel celebrating my birthday for 3 nights. No complains! Pool bartenders were awesome and our room was extremely spacious and comfortable.

Yelp
Great rooms complete with fridge and toaster oven. Three pools, tons of space to sun by the ocean, a nice fishing pier. So-so snorkeling available out front though we came in a windy week and there was lots of seaweed blown up on the shore. Snorkeling trips available on the Islander girl. Centrally located on Islamorada so lots of restaurant options nearby including an easy walk to Loralei (be careful crossing the road). 5* = incredible (rare) 4* = very good/ strong desire to return 3* = generally good experience 2* = poor/ no desire to return 1* = a particularly awful experience

Yelp
I know it is 3 star. I spent 6/9 thru the 11th. On 6/9 arrival at the pool, there weren't any clean towels, went to the bar for a beverage and the service from D was based on ignoring, then K took my order at the til without any visual acknowledgement or any sense that she was going to fake how she felt about her job. Customer service was close to a zero. On another day I ordered my drink with a lime, it came with a lemon from D. She said she'd get a lime but came back to collect the signed payment without a lime. I don't know how much work they were all doing.... I did see D carrying used towels too. When you pay over $500 a night you expect better. Room was fine, pool was fine, grounds were fine but 3 star. Thank goodness we had Rachel who provided service at the pool on Sunday. She was excellent. It wasn't overcrowded so we didn't have any issues with that. Had a couple drinks thanks to Rachel's service. Front desk was quite pleasant. Big frig was a surprise. Breakfast sandwich at elements was good. Didn't eat on property so can't speak to that.

Yelp
First visit in the spring was perfect. So we booked Thanksgiving before we even checked out. But Thanksgiving was disastrous. Our beach view had been replaced with chain link fence and construction. We were only informed 2 weeks prior to our stay, and we were a large party (3 suites all together) so beachside hotel alternatives were unavailable. On our first visit, the enclosed patio also had a TV. On our second visit, it had been removed. We asked the hotel to relocate one of the two bedroom TVs to the patio so we could all watch World Cup together, but they refused. Our main suite had two dining areas-- one indoor and one outdoor-- so we planned to cook for thanksgiving. But the outdoor area was no longer appealing because it was surrounded by construction fencing and no longer had any view of anything. Also the refrigerator/freezer were broken so our groceries couldn't be refrigerated. Neither could drinks. Planned a family meal at the on-site restaurant, working with head chef a month prior. But the restaurant ran out of food, and tried to serve us turkey dregs and skin, and several items on their fixed menu "ran out" so were completely unavailable. Because the menu was fixed, there were no substitutions on the menu to choose from. The food and beverage manager would later tell us they simply ran out of food. Instead of fessing up and working with us to find a solution, restaurant staff simply hoped we wouldn't notice or care about the poor quality meal they would serve us. They gave us back our money for the meal, but unfortunately, no one can give you back your time, or Thanksgiving with your family who had traveled from Colorado to be together. Many places in the keys exude "Old Florida charm". The islander is well situated, but beyond that location, it falls well short. The rooms are like motel rooms. The beach isn't really a beach (a hard surface covered with a plastic layer, with a layer of sand on top-- don't try to bury your feet in the sand, or build sand castles-- it's impossible), the quality of the rooms is failing, and many of the staff who influence your experience are just not great at customer service. All of this could be fine, if you're knowing what you're getting yourself into. But the prices are exorbitant and the overall experience is very poor value.

Yelp
Despite the price we paid, the "resort" was mediocre. The description of our room location was very misleading. We knew we wouldn't have full housekeeping every day but I didn't realize that having a daily refresh did not include things like sweeping the floor or wiping the sink off. We were not informed there was a resort shuttle, or about any activities the resort might offer. Although they say they are preserving the environment they use single use water bottles and cups and there were no recycling bins to be found. The beach area was very nice.

Yelp
Pro: clean room. Staff is pleasant. Beautiful landscaping. Many areas for the kids to play. Con: they left a wake up alarm in the clock, woke us up at 6 am. The restaurant is closed and was not made aware. Beds are not comfortable too high off the ground and the bed cover too thin. Hence didn't sleep too well. The room also feels a little cramped but at least we are close to the pool and beach. No view at all though. Asked for some extra towels, room service never came. You pay for the hotel room where they added a 100 dollars tax fee and then an additional 40 dollars resort fee when you arrive? Has potential but not worth the 640 dollars we paid at this time.

Yelp
We paid over $500 for a one night stay in a "beachside" room that was nowhere near the actual beach, but it gets worse! The room was HOT at night with very little AC, there was no soap in the shower, the hot tub was broken/under maintenance, and we were told we didn't pay enough for a late checkout when we needed extra time to leave the next morning because we got no sleep with no AC! The manager Stewart never responded after we called the front desk. Complete waste of money. Will NEVER stay again.

Yelp
Great location in the Keys, service was mixed, some good, some not great at all. Rachel at the Tides restaurant was very good for example. This hotel is way (!!!) overpriced for what it is. This hotel is riding the inflation wave without offering anything in return. The beach is not usable/swimmable and we had algae blooming while we were there over the 4th of July weekend which made it impossible to sit outside for more than an hour. We were pleasantly surprised with the condition and the cleanliness of the room. Overall a very mixed review, we will go back to Islamorada but we wouldn't stay at the Islander Resort again.

Yelp
Clean, well situated, with an expansive and groomed beach front location. The room is simple, adequately roomy, well appointed, and casual. Nothing fussy. Uncluttered and fresh, our room opens directly onto the beach. Though fully occupied, the resort is quiet. We sat alone at the fire pit on the beach and gazed up into the starry night sky. Great Adirondack chairs!

Whitney N.

Yelp
Great location, but the most uncomfortable mattress I've ever slept on. Also the rooms are not sound proofed at all, so you can hear when the guests in the room next to you sneeze.

Yelp
I'd rate 0 stars if I could. Let me start by saying that I have never been so devastated by the poor customer service offered in the hospitality industry as I have by Islander Resort. My husband and I were given a $800 gift card to this resort to set ourselves up with a little weekend getaway before our first baby arrives. We were thrilled by the generous opportunity that we wouldn't be able to dream of otherwise. Immediately upon receiving the GC, I called and asked what the process was for paying with a gift card because I noticed I couldn't use it on their website as a method of payment. I was told I had to call and make the reservation directly, but first they had to verify my card was valid and so they had me email it to them. A few days later I got a response saying it was valid, confirmed the amount, and to call to make a reservation. Sweet! I called and was transferred to the reservations department, AND HOLY INSTANT RUDENESS. I explained I needed to make a reservation and had to do it over the phone and the woman who answered blatantly told me she didn't have time to go over prices for different dates with me. I asked for a general idea of the best weekend to book before September and she quoted me in the THOUSANDS but couldn't explain why it was so high compared to the couple of hundreds on their website. I was discouraged, embarrassed, and said I'd call back when I had a date locked down that we could afford. I emailed the resort asking about the interaction I had just been apart of, and was responded to with short answers that made me sound like I was dumb for not understanding. I went online again, found the exact dates, the room, the most affordable rate - I called back to book it and got the same rudeness I was faced with the first time but thankfully this time got the room at the rate which matched online. Unfortunately my healthcare provider was extremely uncomfortable with me traveling so close to my due date, so she advised I reschedule for sooner. Being prepared by my last experience trying to book with them, I went online and did the leg work of finding the room, dates, and rate that worked better. I took a screenshot of the cost breakdown so I could have it handy when I called. I called to reschedule. SAME RUDE WOMAN. I explained I had to reschedule and what exactly I wanted. First of all, the room I wanted "didn't exist" then it "wasn't available" and finally "she found it." Okay, cool progress. Already annoyed with me, she booked it quickly and the price was different by hundreds of dollars. I asked why and got no real response so I gave up and accepted the reservation because it was like talking to a wall. I called back and got the managers email. Emailed him the situation with my screenshots asking why the difference to their online price (not a third party, btw!), week went by, no response. My husband called and asked for a manager, was transferred to someone who was also rude, told him the price is whatever it is, and that the online rates don't matter (even though she had the exact screenshot of their reservation site and the rates from when I called). My husband cancelled the entire reservation, said we'd rather stay home than deal with some of the rudest customer service we've ever encountered. I feel awful that someone spent the $800 of non-refundable gift card. We can't imagine what the staff is like at the resort if those are the kinds of people who represent the brand. Do better, and if you hate your job in hospitality you should quit instead of taking joy out of what should be incredible experiences. Everyone is entitled to a "bad day" and we are extremely understanding of that, but this exceeded any excuse someone could make for them. Don't waste your money.

Yelp
Stay anywhere but here!!! Unresponsive staff, unclean rooms. Just yuck! There are so many choices of places to stay in Islamorada; put this one at the VERY bottom of your list of accommodation.

Yelp
Don't bother paying hundreds for resort passes, everyone can come in for free!!!! The joke was on us, after having paid hundreds for our family of 5 and my parents (7 in all) and hundreds in lunch and drinks, we realized that any riffraff from the street can come in. A group of 5-6 came in, one woman with a wristband and the others none. They were boisterously showing off about not paying and bragging about their drug consumption while around families with small children. They spoke Spanish, which happens to be our first language, openly throwing out profanities. This went on for over an hour. At one point, my family left to the ping pong table leaving me and my 2 yo behind. I was in the pool with another mommy and her 2 yo and they started taunting the little girls. We were driven out of the pool and went to find the rest of the family. As we headed back the 2 yo fell asleep and my 6 yo boy went into the pool steps while I sat and observed from close by. My mother noticed the 4 men had approached him and were laughing and taunting him. She walked to the pool side, pulling him out and back to the chairs. When my husband came back from the bathroom we told him that the pool atmosphere was uncomfortable and explained why. He confronted the individuals and an altercation ensued. They shouted profanities and various insults and threats including that "if we didn't want our kids messed with we shouldn't take them out in public". I called 911 and an officer was sent. There is no situation in which a child can be harassed by a group of me and that is ok. The Islander resort staff was present and didn't really set them straight. They divided the groups and calmed things down but they should have removed the individuals without wrist bands immediately. Show your wristband or show your room key. Period end dot. That's a reputable resort's policy. But not The Islander. Nada. None of this was requested and the altercation continued. By the time the keys police arrived, they were gone. But it could've been tragic if someone had overstepped. The Islander has lost my confidence completely. Stuart the manager promised to remediate the situation but disappeared and left us fearing retaliation in the parking lot. We rapidly picked up our stuff and loaded the cars while guarding the children. A situation no one should have to experience while on vacation. Anyone can get in for free folks!!! Don't be the honest but dumb ones like we have been for years!!! Don't pay for resort passes! You can order food and drinks at the bar because resort guests don't have wristbands, so just walk in like you own the place!!! Way to ruin another Keys establishment "Employees at the Islander"

Yelp
My girlfriend and I visited the resort over the weekend. We booked a king size bed with a double room for $755/night. I tried calling the day we booked to notify them we would be bringing a service animal. Unfortunately no one answered. I also sent a message indicating I was trying to reach the office. When we arrived rather than being put in the double room with a king size bed that was reserved, we were placed in a unit that was a single room with a queen size bed. We tried to speak with the manager and he was non-responsive and unhelpful. The two individuals working at the desk advised me to come back later in the evening. When I went back the staff not only confirmed that I was being over charged $424/night but went the extra distance to print me off a print out of the room fees and what I should of had for our stay. Make sure you confirm the room you are staying in and if you are bringing a service animal make sure you confirm before so you don't pay for a room you don't get.

Yelp
Customer service is very rude at front desk. Rooms not ready but checking others in. Rate is all over the place. Look up and book on line. Not with resort. Cheaper on line. Here for a wedding. You would think they knew what rooms to have ready with families coming in from long distances. They need to get better organized!!

Yelp
Let me start by saying any review associated with negative comments about the villa were proven to be true less than 4 hours of being in the property. Upon arrival, we were told to check in at the resort which I already felt was inconvenient when staying at the villa. We were redirected to the villas when we checked in which wasn't a huge deal since it was one mile but after several hours of traveling, the poor communication was frustrating. The location of the villas was beautiful but I did find the lack of maintenance around the property to be unflattering and poorly manicured. Like most properties, the pictures give false hope to the reality of the property and it was poorly maintained and partially repaired. If you're looking to make use of the villas for cooking, you might as well bring your own kitchen. There is nothing in the unit that can be placed in the oven. Although there are comments that state "anything missing can be provided by the resort", you'll wait several hours as your dinner is partially cooked before they come and tell you they do not have that item. I think over 3 hours I made several calls to the resort requesting a frying pan, baking sheet and oven mitts. If you're wondering, they only returned with 3 frying pans. I'd like to add that they like to state everything will be there in 10 minutes...it was more like 120. It was wonderful to try and piece meal our dinner together to then find out we (4 of us) were in a unit with 3 forks. When I made a 4th call in to the property they asked how many I needed. I didn't know I was responsible for inventory maintenance for my villa. If a unit is intended to sleep 6, wouldn't you expect a minimum of 6 items? I'll give you a hint, there isn't. I'd like to hope if you have to make a call for anything in to the resort, you don't have to deal with Cassandra. You want to talk about a ray of sunshine? She's a horrendous employee. Rude, sarcastic and a whole lack of empathy and compassion for something that should be right from the moment you walk to the property. I might as well receive her compensation during my time there as I did her job for her. Let me summarize some other issues - 1. We called the resort to take a shuttle to dinner. We told them the restaurant we were going to and AFTER we got picked up and drove to the resort (not where we requested to go) they told us they don't go there. 2. We went to exchange our beach towels at the office. They had none. We waited "10 minutes" 6 times, yup - that's 1 hour, for our towels. Nothing like spending a trip in paradise in your room waiting to enjoy the sunshine because you're anxious you returned your towels and are afraid you returned yours and would get charged because of their poor maintenance. Do you see a trend here? 3. We called an requested the wifi password. We were told it was Ocean123. Guess what? It didn't work. When we called back, the lovely Cassandra, told us it was the password and it worked for her. WOW! A wifi extender that works a mile away?! Where can I get one? I asked to speak to a manager and she told me he wasn't there and she would reach out to him. When she (yup, the manager didn't call me himself - thanks, Nick) called me back, she had given me the wrong password. I'd like to just state, when people take the time to write a review about their experience, it should promptly receive a response from the management group to rectify the situation. The last thing anybody wants to spend their VACATION doing, is voicing their frustration and work they had to put in when trying to RELAX and enjoy their trip. I am extremely disappointed in the lack of hospitality provided at the Islander Resort facility and would caution others to stay here if they had the intention of relaxing on their trip. When I called back to try to get my resort fee back, Cassandra hung up on me 5 times by putting me on hold you should probably teach her some customer service *Updating review to be 1 star as I contacted the hotel via phone and email to address my experience and they never got back to me. I was also told I'd get a partial refund and I never did.

Yelp
We booked a last minute trip to the Keys and we were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. It just reopened in Dec 2018. Resort has a lot of things to do for families and for those who simply want to relax. The room was a great size and includes a full size fridge & a large screened patio. Upon arriving we were greeted with champagne and they helped get us a room to better accommodate us. They offer free breakfast. The food at Tides was OK. We tried both breakfast & lunch. Drinks at the bar were great as was the service. Id come back again if the price is right.

Yelp
We stayed in April 2021. We had a ocean view room. We stayed in 122. We were blown away at how wonderful our stay was. We eloped the first day. The Keys Wedding Center elopement team made it possible for us to get married on the beach at the Islander. It was so convenient to walk out our lanai and get married right at the resort. The resort food and drinks were great. You definitely pay for the convince but to our family it was worth it. All the staff was so helpful and knowledgeable. We had great interactions with everyone. Pros: morning sunrise, large pools, quiet, lush grounds, large grounds to walk, Islander Girls boat tour, sup and kayaks, games and splash pad, felt very safe, walkable to shops, lanai, no hidden fees at checkout. We will definitely be back next year. This is a great family resort!

Yelp
I've been going here for more than 30 years and it still holds the original charm. The grounds are great, the rooms are clean, and all have a walkway out to the beach and two pools. Sunrises in the morning are worth waking up to there. The prices have gotten a bit high for my liking, especially during the busy season. For the most part it's still worth it though.

Yelp
Food options were ok but everything was overpriced. Service was ok, nothing special compared to other local favorites. The drinks were ok but very pricey in comparison to other local spots.
