"People who live on Hilton Head try to keep Islanders Beach a local secret. This is where you can get a typical local atmosphere and watch residents spending the day with their families and pups. There are grills for cooking your fresh catch and a picnic pavilion to enjoy an afternoon eating and drinking by the water. Parking is by permit only with some metered spaces, so it's best to ride a bike directly on the beach." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Fantastic beach. Was very windy and riptides so didn't go in the water but nice just to walk the beach. Dogs allowed which was nice. Restrooms too.

This beach is a gem - whether you come here once per year, once a quarter, once a month, or live here, this beach is convenient and fun. Parking is metered and limited (unless you have a local pass or staying in resort). We frequently go in the morning and there are plenty of spots available. The community of dog walkers and mix of local and tourists is fun. The views are awesome and the paths convenient to walk in (sand path is covered with harder service so easy to access for kids, wheelchairs, elderly, etc.) Great facilities and clean bathrooms/showers.

This is one of the best beaches to take the family to! It’s not overcrowded and the sand and water are perfect for hours and hours of fun!

Islander's Beach Park offers everything you need for a family with kids...a clean playground, a nice eating gazibo, beautiful beach access and clean restrooms. We visit Hilton Head 6-8 times a year and we almost always make at least one trip to Islander's Beach Park because the kids love the playground, the swings, the gazibo eating area and the semi-private beach access. The restrooms are consistently cleaned plus the beach access has a nice hard blue rubber mat that takes anyone with a stroller or rolling beach buggy straight on to the harder sand if the beach. The playground us very well maintained and has a well deesigned flow, allowing parents to easily watch their kids, even if they have multiple that all like different things (like our three). The trees and open ground are great for kicking a ball with the kids, while having full visibility to the kids on the playground and the swings. Just be careful not to kick the ball too high or it could get stuck in a tree (see attached photo), that might take 50-60 throws of a stick to get down (notice the full action picture attached...I did finally get it down). The kids also love the cool alligator bike rack when you approach the steps to the beach access (see photos attached). The beach view from the beach access is beautiful and the ramp is well-maintained along with the rinse off area, avoiding splinters even if you or the kids choose not to wear shoes (we choose to pick our battles with the kids). This is definitely one of our favorite parks and the paid parking is definitely worth it, but remember to bring quarters since they haven't converted to credit cards yet.

We wanted to go to the beach and we were not staying by the water. We picked this public beach because it was wheelchair accessible. They have beach wheelchairs that you can rent if available. You go on the website to reserve ahead of time if you need one. We didn’t end up needing the wheelchair but it was a great little beach. You could rent chairs and umbrellas. Which we did because we didn’t have the ability to haul anything in. Then sat by the beach on a nice warm summer day. Couldn’t get much better with the salty sticky breeze. I would recommend this beach. It was great. Like any of the beaches you do have to walk in if you need to use the restrooms. Nothing on the beach other than the ocean. Lol. They had lifeguards on duty monitoring the beach and the waters. You do need to bring your money or change to pay to park. Which is normal around Hilton head public parking areas.

Beautiful beach access, nice walkout to the beach, trash baskets to take with you on the beach, borrow a toy box for the kids, nice bathrooms, and a nice wash off area

We stayed at The Lyons and wanted to take some family photos at sunset. The Islanders Beach Park is a great entrance to the beach.

Yelp
Came on a cloudy day... Listen the beach can't suck It was cloudy but not cluttered Jellyfish dead kinda stunk.... But coming from Ohio Beach can not suck

Yelp
Truth is, I'm really not THAT much of a beach bum - messiness of the sand, stickiness of the scorching heat, exacerbated by the irritating sunscreen, without which (or even with) you'll be plagued by sunburn and melanoma ... what's to like?! (I'm being a little facetious, of course) But as long as you're gonna be doing beach in the Hilton Head area, there's no better place. You shell out a few dineros for parking, but the boardwalk is relatively short, with good fresh water rinse facilities - there are even some shady parking spots. They have available a few beach wheelchairs for anyone who needs one, which you need to book online ahead of time. The sand is fine, and the slopes of the beach very gradual. They have a life guard; you can tent umbrellas and chairs, and they post tide and sunrise/ sunset information. The water could be clearer, but there isn't a thing I can do about it, other than to come after a storm, when the water is often a lot clearer.

Yelp
Unlike the neighboring parks - Driessen and Folly Field - the parking lot of this park is only open to local residents who have a parking pass. So if that's not you, there's the other parks. It could be because this park is only maintained by the Town of Hilton Head Island where the others share maintenance with the County? When I stopped by, it was off season and I rolled the dice that parking enforcement was light. Also, it was a quick visit because it was raining. Larger than the other two parks i mentioned, this park includes a playground, restrooms, outdoor showers, picnic shelters, grills and the boardwalk leads to a beach that has seasonal life guards. I think it's a better park but it is limited to those who have a parking pass. [Review 14366 overall, 1690 of 2020, number 733 in South Carolina.]

Yelp
Town of Hilton Head has closed the parking access to anyone who doesn't own property within the Town of Hilton Head proper. They require parking stickers or they will tow. Even though we live here full time and have a Hilton Head Island address we cant get a parking sticker. First world problems I know, but it sucks.

Yelp
Gorgeous beach area - wide beach, not crowded, great for long walks. Access is great with the boardwalk leading to a covered pathway suitable for wheel chair access. The parking is great with most metered places in the shade. The restroom is terrific, clean, and with granite counter tops! Spectacular!

Yelp
We really enjoyed coming here. The beach is cleaner here than Tybee Beach and the sand seems whiter. They have clean bathrooms and a really nice water-system for cleaning off. There were people playing volleyball, some other kind of game, and a lot of people having fun. We enjoyed ourselves and would come back!

Yelp
Zero stars. Parking is limited and you have to pay $1.00/hr which is inconvenient if you don't carry cash and if you do, bring singles, meter does not take credit cards. Best to get state park permits for the private areas, they have more parking spaces than the public parking.

Yelp
Very wide, open beach. Nice sands, can get a bit windy. Typical dunes. Water is not clear as we are used to which can be a bit intimidating- for some reason I can swim in a lake no problem, but murkey ocean water is sketchy to me. For the area it's a high 3 to 4 star spot.
