Had a lovely dinner date here. The drinks were great. Highly recommend the Manila Bay. We did the price fix menus and it was amazing. Right beside the parkdale pottery place so you can make a whole night out of it as a couple of you wanted.

Winterlicious 2024 Discovered this place while looking for a place to eat after going to the stationary show in Parkdale Hall. It was sunny at the time we went and we were seated by the window where we were grateful for the sun shining through. Originally, I had a reservation for 1PM but we arrived very early (12:15pm) and the place was still starting to fill up for lunch. We got seated very quickly and the seats were very cozy. The food was very good and the proportions were very good for the cost of the set ($27/lunch). The salad was very crunchy and refreshing while the main course had a sizable portion of friend rice that accompanied eggs and your choice of protein (I got fish while my companion got the other two types of meat). The dessert (Mango Float) could have been thawed a bit longer before serving in my opinion as it felt and tasted still frozen. There was only one server at the time for ~25 people so I did feel like service was slow. I could tell the server and the chefs were doing the best they could because they were constantly on their feet and the meals were coming out together. Overall, if I ever have the chance to come by the area and was not in a rush I would dine here again and arrive early to take time into consideration.

Super cozy vibes. Love the decor, sadly my order was dry. But my company’s was good. The grilled chicken skewer was A+ Mine was so bad, maybe next time.

Had an amazing experience with my family! Friendly service, elevated filipino dishes & a great atmosphere! We also enjoyed their karaoke machine! My fave dish was the KareKare - it was so peanuty with a great smooth bagoong flavor! I’ll definitely be coming back! My only recommendation would be to offer servings for groups instead of individual servings. The individual servings is in the middle of too much for one person, but also too little to share with a group - so maybe creating a group serving would be great since filipino families love sharing :) Regardless, it was 5 stars for me!

I highly recommend ordering catering food from iSLAS! They helped us finalize our order and provided the best NYE dinner. Everyone was raving about the food. I would do this again in a heartbeat. Sorry I did not capture the actual food. We were too excited to eat it than photograph it 😄

Had a lovely dinner here. Dined solo on a Friday night at 1700hrs, there was a lot of available seating. Got a little full towards 1800hrs. Great menu. I ordered a couple apps but if I was more hungry I'd love to try their prix fixe option! I love calamansi and they have a few drinks with it. The calamantini was great! Regular lumpia and lechon wings were delicious! Don't worry, they weren't very spicy. Fries were so crispy! Beautiful decor. Friendly and cosy atmosphere. Easy to find. Street parking (paid and unpaid) available. Easily seats 1-4 and parties of 6+ look like they could be accommodated too if they combined tables.

Google
Very yummy lunch. We absolutely LOVED the bulalao soup (very hearty, I would go back just for this), and the lumpia + Filipino peanut slaw were second favourites. Everything else was yummy too (though didn’t stand out too much).

Google
Great menu! loveeee the ambiance, service and food! not only does the food look good but it also tastes phenomenal. Cocktails were bomb, I suggest getting the Calamansi Mojito 💯 Def a must visit place if you want Filipino food.

Yelp
Food: 3.5 Stars Service: 3 Stars Ambience: 3 Stars Fill Factor: Filling This is a late review but I came here based on a recommendation by a co-worker who really liked their BBQ offerings. Overall I was fairly satisfied with the food and wouldn't mind trying some of their other offerings. For some reason I was very excited to try this place so I ordered a bit more than I usually do. We did the prix fixe menu choosing the lumpia as our starter, adobo as our main, and a halo halo as our dessert. We also ordered the BBQ pork as this was highly recommended and the main reason I wanted to try Islas. The BBQ pork definitely met the hype as the meat was tender and flavourful. The lumpia (which is essentially a spring roll) was also great with its crispy exterior and flavourful fillings. The halo halo was solid as well. The adobo was the one thing I did not really enjoy much. It was ok but this is not the flavour of adobo that I personally enjoy. It was not bad but not the flavour I think of when I want adobo. The space was large and was dimly lit. It felt clean and spacious and the decor was alright nothing special. The service was ok. They took our order, brought our food and cashed us out. Really nothing especially good or bad. All in all I would definitely come back here for the BBQ and to try some of their other offerings. Glad I came here and tried it and would recommend the same to anyone looking for food in the area.

Yelp
A few Saturdays back, a couple of friends and I met up at Islas Filipino BBQ and Bar. We all pitched eatery ideas and went with this suggestion from our Filipino friend who has always been my guide when it comes to Filipino food. We originally planned on going in early February. We meet up roughly every two months. One friend had to cancel. I was away during the long Family Day weekend. Instead, we rescheduled to the Saturday after the long weekend. I am the reservation booker in our group. I don't wait for someone to do it. It's an automatic instinct. I booked online twice. It was easy to cancel my first reservation and reschedule. You get a text message that confirms that your reservation is good or that your cancellation request went through. You also get a reminder a day before and an hour before your reservation. Nice! I had no problem finding a parking spot on Queen Street West, steps away from the eatery on the north side of the street. It's Green P parking, so I paid for three hours of parking through the app. I then started a new session for an hour because we tend to go over three hours when we dine as a group. It's such a great app and is convenient! One of my friends had arrived when I did. Moments later, our other friend made it. We all walked into the restaurant. The woman who greeted us knew my name from the reservation. It was nice to not say much! We got a nice table in the middle of the eatery. We ordered the following items: - To' silog with pandesal (me) - Bulalo (beef shank) soup - Barbeque - chicken and pineapple skewers - Sisig with steamed rice - Cava - Manila bay x 3 We got water to start. Our group tends to go for alcoholic drinks. We went with a bottle of cava, which was the best. It was fizzy, light, and enjoyable for brunch. I wanted a Filipino breakfast and went with the to' silog with pandesal. It had Filipino bacon called tocino that was pork belly. I love pork belly and liked how it was both slightly sweet and savory. I got two fried eggs, a light salad, and an orange wedge. It came with the fluffiest pandesal that I used to sop up the runny yolks. The garlic fried rice was amazing. Everything was delicious. One of my friend had the barbeque. I learned that barbeque means things on skewers that are barbequed. She got chicken and pineapple on skewers that came dangling from a pretty skewer holder with dipping sauce in the middle of it. She loved it so much. She saw my pandesal and my devouring it as if I hadn't had bread in my life that she got one. She understood how yummy it was. My other friend got the Bulalo (beef shank) soup. He was impressed that I knew the name of his dish. We have similar tastes. I like shank in soup. If I didn't have a craving for Filipino breakfast, I would have had this dish. He enjoyed it. It looked huge and hearty, especially with corn on the cob and other veggies in the soup. As we dined and chatted, I noticed an orange drink that the table next to us had. I asked our server what it was. It was Manila Bay. It had San Miguel beer, gin, calamansi, and honey. It was a traditional Manila drink. Our group said yes to a pitcher. It technical serves two, but we split it between the three of us to see if we liked it. OMG! This cocktail was delicious. We loved it so much that we ordered two more pitchers, so we essentially had one each when we were done. It was totally worth splurging to get it. It was refreshing and yummy. We didn't get any dessert. We were full from the food and drinks. Our alcoholic drinks were our dessert... haha! The washrooms are downstairs. It's an older building, so it's not great accessibility-wise. The washroom was clean and decent. Staff were so patient with us. We were the first group to arrive and the last to leave at around 4:30 pm. We got the bill split in three. All three of us paid with credit cards. I tapped and tipped. All was great. It's a fabulous place to enjoy authentic Filipino food and drinks with company. Everything was yummy and staff were great. I'd return in a heartbeat for more. Maybe we can do a kamayan feast (boodle fight eating with your hands) next time. (117)

Yelp
The only people calling this place authentic clearly haven't tried authentic Filipino food! The empanadas are frozen - I know because they brought ours literally straight from the freezer, as if they forgot the microwave step - a bit embarrassing. And the sisig, which is typically made with less common animal parts was anything but. Overall, the food was bland and boring, and the restaurant is understaffed for its size.
google avatar

Manny L.

Yelp
Ukoy salad was tasty and snappy, especially with the fried sweet potato and onion adding great texture to the leafy greens. Sesig was steaming hot and a must pick. Service was a bit lacking, and interior was super dark but hip. Music selection was a bit all over the place. Would come back again.

Yelp
We did a food hopping experience in queen west and stumbled across this place accidentally. We saw that they're reviewed very well. So wanted to give it a try. We had their peanut slaw which was a very generous portion and it tasted great too. Lacked seasoning but once we added salt, it turned out really delicious. The ambiance is very cosy. I really wanted to try red horse beer which is very popular in Philippines but they were out. I can't wait to come back and try other items. For those who eat meat, looks like the meat platter is a good option. Lots of people were ordering that..

Yelp
Decent Filipino restaurant serving classics such as kare kare, adobo, all-day silog, sisig, palabok, etc. Fresh ingredients but limited vegetarian options.

Yelp
We were able to get a reservation for 7 the same day on a Monday night at 7pm. The restaurant was crowded and all tables were taken. They took our orders and we got our food pretty quickly. They turned on the karaoke machine around 8pm and it was lively! The food is fantastic. I'm from the Bay Area, so I know good Filipino food and this was reallllyyyy good! The lumpia was rolled to perfection and the sisig was crispy and saucy. Both were perfect. Rating a 4 because they forgot to give some of our desserts multiple times. In the end, they gave us the last missing dessert but literally at the very end while we were leaving. I would definitely come back!

Yelp
The food is absolutely incredible!!! I'm very lucky to have this restaurant in the neighbourhood!!!

Yelp
Easy to get to by streetcar. The group table in the front & friends already waiting for us made me smile. Islas proprietors Marielle & Marc warmly welcomed us! Our dinner get together was planned by our mutual friend, and if y'all don't know, Filipinos love to share and host friends , especially around food! The food!! We ordered the tasting menu Boodeli Two! Tasty slaw, pancit, BBQ, and fried fish... The chicken inasal! The tofu & mushroom sisig! The lechon! The kalbi beef! The pancit palabok! The halo halo! I'm not a descriptive foodie, but I know that this food elevated my dining experience with new friends. My recommendation is not only to go to Islas to enjoy great food, but also go there to nourish yourselves in community. Gather there with people you love! Suggest this as a destination to gather new and old friends. We even had our mutual friend join us via video while he was traveling! We'll be back, Islas! Maraming salamat sa masarap na sarap ng pagkain. Check out their socials & make your reservations now.

Yelp
Came here for a birthday dinner and we got 3 of the feast for 7 people. Note: it is a lot of food. Even though it is advertised for 2 people, you may need a third person to help you with the food! Food wise: I love the variety, the plating and the amount of food you get. The food taste good, however, some items came out colder than others (e.g. skewers). The food came out longer than expected but understandable since we ordered 3 of them. I like how the feast also comes with desserts! They were very accommodating, we were a large crowd and they even let us bring a cake. The restaurant is smaller than expected, I would recommend reserving. Overall, this place is a good option to try out kamayan feast!

Daniel D.

Yelp
it was pretty good although a little oily for my liking. halo halo dessert was rly good. pricier than most

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! Big portions that will leave you so full. The Sisig is one of the best meals I've had and the garlic rice is a must try. Cannot recommend enough!

Yelp
I've been coming here for years, and am happy to say the food and beverages are consistently great. Although I wasn't able to snap a photo this time, the Boodle Fight option (massive feast served on banana leaves) is a great option, but the meat skewers (chicken and pork for us) were ridiculously amazing. The staff continue to be attentive despite being consistently busy and packed. The drink specials are also a great option if you haven't quite decided on what to try but you're in the mood for cocktails. All-in-all, I am happy to keep recommending this place as it hasn't disappointed yet.

Yelp
A Korean, Japanese, and a Chinese guy walks into a Filipino Restaurant... and... that's all I got! AND I'm being serious! An All Asian night - it's like a production of Crazy Rich Asian - LOL! Before heading to the Snow Magic YEE (that's on another review - brace yourself Winter is Coming ..LOL), we needed some eats. When you have a Foodie Influencer, Media Influencer, and a Chef, trying to figure out where to go, it's gonna be difficult to find a place. The food needs to be excellent, the place needs to be trendy, and must be Chef approved. Well, Islas it is... I haven't been to a great Filipino place as there are just a handful of them downtown. This was recommended by our Chef dude, so food must be great. I wonder if it will be a hole in the wall, especially where it is located - media guy might have an issue. ;P OK... I'm gonna say, this place ticks all the boxes. It's a beautifully decorated, the food is deliciously plated, and Chef Marc Bonaventura knows how to cook. We had the Lechon Wings to start, some brews, and the Chef Tasting Menu. The tasting menu was the BOODELI 'TWO' !!!! :D Whole fish snapper, chicken bbq, bagnet crispy pork belly, short ribs, baked empanada, lumpia crispy spring rolls, peanut slaw salad, fruits, garlic fried rice and dessert served on banana leaves. We are going Kamayan!!! For those who do not know, don't look it up! Go and get some. If you go Kamayan, you never come back to utensils - LOL! A great night of food and friends! CHEERS!

Yelp
The service and atmosphere were great. We got the boodle fight and shared it with 3 other people + 1 extra plate. It was enough in terms of quantity. Food quality okay.

Yelp
There aren't a lot of Filipino food places downtown, especially once's that have sit down service. And although Islas is quite far from downtown proper, the trek is well worth. My friends and I walked kilometres on a day where the TTC was not working and it was pouring rain: but everyone agreed that the food was spectacular. As a Filipino, this is the best Filipino food in the city. The ambience was absolutely amazing. The service from the tita's made me feel like I was back home. Everyone should come here. Islas is an absolute gem.

Yelp
My family and I are visiting from LA and knew we had to stop by iSLAS after seeing it on Google Maps. We ordered the kare kare price fixe (which includes an appetizer, entree, and dessert), lumpia, sisig, pork bbq skewers, pancit, and halo halo. Everything was delicious, especially the pork bbq, which was extra saucy and flavorful. My favorite was the sisig, it arrived sizzling and was the right amount of tangy, savory, and even had a bit of a kick from the peppers. The staff were extremely friendly and suggested us places to visit/things to do during our stay in Toronto. We even got to meet Chef Mark! The place itself is very aesthetic/modern, with cool Filipino decorations/posters. Parking on the street is easy. We had a great experience here and would definitely recommend iSLAS to anyone visiting Toronto.

Yelp
We were just strolling in the area after visiting High Park and looking to go snack-hopping. Was instantly captivated by this resto as we walked by. Ambiance is nice lounge-y chic-y island-y hipster-y. I've only ever been to family diner style filipino resto so it was kinda cool to see a filipino restaurant as a lounge bar. Sat at the bar as the place was busy and we just wanted quick bite (although a table cleared out soon and they invited us to move over, but i was ok with the bar). Ordered the sisig ($17) and some beers. The sisig was delicious, savoury, had a good medley of flavours and kick. Portion was perfect for me and bf to have a satisfying snack. Would def come back to try other things. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Cool place!

Yelp
From the BBQ skewers to the halo halo, every dish we ordered was amazing. Not only were they quick to prepare our to-go order, but the staff was very friendly too! I will happily visit them again, and hopefully they'll be open for dine-in so I can experience that.

Yelp
Best boodle box in the city, hands down. Islas came late to the kamayan kit game, but the wait was so worth it. Pricier than other boodle box offerings at $75, it for sure makes up for it in terms of: - Taste and quality: Their escabeche fish is a luxury offering as far as boodle boxes go; their variety includes empanada and buko (coconut) pie to go along with the usual staples of chicken bbq, crispy pork and lumpia; and all of this now done to their usual taste level of elevated authentic Filipino food - While they say it's for 2-3 people, my wife and I found we can easily have it soread over 2 meals (and even 3 if we're not hungry)... so it's really for 4-6 people, making it on par price-wise with the smaller boxes Overall, another hit offering from Islas. Will definitely keep ordering until we finally get the chance to dine in person.

Paul M.

Yelp
Easily one of the best Filipino authentic restaurants! Great ambiance and great service. The staff was friendly. You can taste that all the food is made from scratch and not from pre-packaged mixes like some restaurants do. I highly recommend this place.

Alex H.

Yelp
Delicious food, amazing atmosphere!! We came when another group was having a birthday party and when they started singing it felt like a live performance, they were amazing . Never had Philippino food and if I lived in Toronto I would start coming all the time!

Yelp
Visited on a Wednesday night, they had $1 chicken wing specials every Wednesday! Ordered the sisig and chickens to start, I ordered the kare kare and friend ordered the bbq chicken. For the Wednesday chicken wing special, the minimum order is 6 pieces and you must eat it all at the restaurant to not be charged the regular full price! The wings were meaty and tasty, it said it was a little spicy, so we got the sauce on the side. It was spicy but it would be fine if you don't eat the chilli. My friend said the sisig was a good dish, however it was more on the tangy side for my liking. The sisig was many parts of pork all chopped up and it's topped with a raw egg that you should mix in on the hot plate. My friend got the bbq chicken and the presentation was pretty cool, but in terms of flavour it was okay, nothing stood out, flavours were not to my liking. I got the kare kare, it was a peanut sauce with some veggies like string beans, eggplant and bok choy, and of course pork belly! This was my first time trying kare kare, and it was AMAZING! I love the sauce, it was perfect with rice, and I can imagine it being delicious with noodles as well. The pork belly was on the smaller portion side but super crispy and fatty! Both of the bbq chicken and kare kare dish came with unlimited rice refills. I would definitely come back and try the apps as they sound more tasty than the mains, and I would try their heavily reviewed seafood dish as well. Maybe next time I'll grab some cocktails as well!

Yelp
We went here for buck a shuck but ended up finding a gem. I had the red snapper set menu and it was delicious. Good date vibes.

Yelp
Was craving Filipino food and Islas did not disappoint! Their Summerlicious menu is good value but I'll definitely be back to try the reg menu as well. Adobo was very flavorful and the bbq pork was well-grilled and succulent. Halo Halo never disappoints ^^

Yelp
Great food, lots of seating with a patio in the back. Service was really good. I usually order the pork bbq and I've had the sisig which is also really good. Turon is a nice dessert from here.

Yelp
SO so delicious. Visiting from LA, first time in Canada/Toronto and wanted to try Filipino food in Canada!! Incredibly kind wait staff, delicious menu offerings, so flavorful and quality food. We got the sisig, kare kare, pancit and pork BBQ. Portion sizes are perfect for this price. The atmosphere is super chill, and lots of street parking as well. Can't recommend Islas enough!!!

Yelp
I just loved my experience here. The food, people. What a vibe. Must try for all. Thx

Yelp
This place is still open for takeout and delivery even though they're closed for dine in because of COVID-19. I ordered using their online ordering service(order.tbdine.com) and went there to pick it up. The Kare-Kare Bagnet was amazing!! Definitely a must try. The Escabeche Fish Snapper was also very good. We like the Halo-Halo better than the Sago't Gulaman but it was still ok. Looking forward to dining in there when this pandemic is all over and when things are back to normal.

Yelp
For a Filipino restaurant in the heart of Toronto, you guys are exceptional and awesome. The best Boodle, the best serving staff and chef. We will recommend this restaurant to fellow Filipinos here in Canada.

Yelp
My Philippino business partners took me to try this place out, as I'm still exploring my Philippino foods. Nice place and good ambiance, and $5 sangria? Yes please! The food was really nicely presented and the seafood was fresh. Good price points as well for dinner, and good portion size too. We definitely ordered more than we should have, but heh... we had to try it everything right? Best bang for the dollar is the boodle for $40 per person, included dessert and fresh lemonade... appi's are also on the list too. Omg so good! thanks guys! Have a new place to go for Philippino food.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday night for dinner! The place was pretty quiet at around 5:30-7:30pm. We ordered the kwekkwek quail eggs which were interesting.. not much flavor but I liked the oyster-like sauce dip. The phillipino slaw reminded me of the Singaporean slaw dish... full of flavor and tons of texture! It was good but it was kind of a small portion. For mains we got the pork bbq. I was disappointed that there were only two skewers of bbq pork, one skewer of bbq veg and one skewer or bbq pineapple... I wish there was more flavor and meat! The seafood curry stew dish was also just okay, but it lacked something. Although it was packed with shrimp, small scallops, and etc, we didn't even finish it all. Overall I wish the portions were bigger and that there was more flavor in their food!

Yelp
We went to Islas for my birthday and on the recommendation of several friends. It was wonderful! I was craving some good, authentic Filipino food, but not some of the usual Filipino dishes you can get at some Filipino restaurants or that I can make myself at home. I guess I was looking for Filipino food with a slight spin on it, but not so much so that it didn't feel like Filipino soul food. Islas was PERFECT. The food was delicious and the staff were courteous, informative (for those people at nearby tables who weren't sure what was what but very interested!), and friendly. They were kind to our kids, brought extra plates and cutlery for them to share (because the portions are generous but not over the top), and not only checked on us from time to time, but had conversations with us too. It was a refreshing visit, and I'll be sure to come back next time I'm in the area...or am willing to make the trek from north of Toronto!

Yelp
Absolutely incredible, authentic Filipino food! This is a restaurant run by a young, community-minded Filipino family, and it is so great to see them just killing the game with their food. Pro Tip: order everything on the menu, because everything they have is delicious. I've been here twice now and my Filipino friends and I haven't found a single thing that we didn't love. Great atmosphere that makes for a great date night or a family party. Recommended!!!

Yelp
Went here with friends to grab a bite and was blown away with the level of service and quality of food. This place is a gem, we ordered the Kare Kare (crispy pork in peanut sauce), Beef short ribs and chicken Adobo along with appetizers and all 3 desserts on the menu. The empanada and the pork sausage was brilliant. Highly recommend this place to foodies!

Yelp
nice place. good eats. cozy and the decor is a bit rustic. they should organize and put a system in place when handling large crowds. i was there one busy evening. place was packed and a lot more in line. i see customers with tables waiting patiently for their food and some others who were finished long time waiting to be billed. i like the place, though i find it a bit pricey it would have been great if it was paired with a swifter service.

M T.

Yelp
Reliably great food! We love the wings and sisiq and seafood medley. Service is always very kind and welcoming.

Yelp
My favorite Filipino restaurant by far and I live in South Bay, Los Angeles - that means close to Carson which is basically Filipino town! So what makes this restaurant stand out! Oh goody! Let me tell you their ways! Every single thing we tried was cooked to absolute perfection. Every dish was nostalgic of home. Every taste was memorable coz u know the chef poured his heart into the entrees and boy, one can only wish they open up a location here in LA! Engraved in my taste buds memory are definitely: the popular Sisig, Empanadas, Pork Spring rolls, Chicken Wings, Sinigang, Chip Suey, Seafood Express, rum walnut cake! Practically the Whole Menu! We had a lot of fun Marc and Mariel! The owners were so kind and sweet! Sa Uulitin! =)

Yelp
The reviews don't lie! this place is a great spot for Filipino food with a modern fusion spin. I didn't know much about Filipino food either than visiting Tinuno (another excellent spot), but I decided I love it. The atmosphere is cozy and dark, a great date spot! To start, we had the pork and chicken sisig. It was okay, but wasn't worth $15 in my opinion. There kare was delicious, the pork belly was perfectly cooked and moist. The grilled beef ribs were a little overdone, so I had to knock a star off as a result. We also got the oysters which were a bit pricey, so I'd recommend to skip. The winner for me was the seafood express, which was a variety of seafood in a coconut and red pepper sauce. The flavour was balanced and delicious! I would absolutely recommend the spot, service is great and the atmosphere is wonderful. Definitely make a reservation prior as it tends to get very busy!

Yelp
3.8/5 Great little Fillipino place in the West end. Nice and cozy great vibe and very friendly service. Food is yummy tried the Sisig for starters interesting taste a bit sour and pretty spicy great with rice portions are not huge but the unlimited rice makes up for that. Kare Kare taste is not bad it has peanut sauce but not overwhelming but very saucy. Seafood Express is like chicken a la cream but with seafood has about 5 prawns and some muscles and some small seafood stuff in coconut sauce but not much coconut taste bit again saucy and great with rice. Will come back to try other dishes.

Yelp
Savoury Filipino-island style dishes and outstanding service make this a great option for a night out. What we got: grilled pork belly appetizer, beef short ribs with rice, seafood express with rice, chicken skewers What we'd get next time: beef shank soup, seafood express SEAFOOD EXPRESS was one of the best seafood dishes folks who ordered it had. Customizable spice level, but same amazing taste: a very respectful amount of scallops, clams, calamari, shrimp, mussels were loaded on a buttery, garlic-y sauce, with some nice kick... Yum. BEEF SHANK SOUP smelled so good. Getting that next. BEEF SHORT RIBS came out on a sizzling hot plate and were very tasty, and throwing in the rice on the plate made it absorb some of those tasty juices. PORK BELLY APPETIZER was a solid appetizer. It wasn't the MOST tender belly I've had, but it was well flavoured, and the bite sized aspect made it fun to eat. CHICKEN LEGS I'm told were not nearly the best ever as it was missing a bit of kick, but TWO LEGS is such a solid value. CHICKEN SKEWERS: add skewers to any meal for $4, to a salad for $3. These were good. Great value on a salad, alright buy separately. Notes: Paid parking is just a reality in this neighborhood. It's $2 an hour on the road outside the restaurant, with no time limit. There's a Green P lot that is a two minute walk away (1624 Queen St W, Lot 256), which charges $1/half hour but you can pay $4 for max time after 6pm. Washrooms are down the stairs and then down a hall - not too accessible, but not much that can be changed. 4.5 round to 5 because it's a beautiful story of a couple working hard to open their own restaurant and FILIPINO FOOD IS SO GOOD.

Yelp
TLDR: do NOT come for brunch- questionable service, bad food and false advertisement. The waitress seemed very inexperienced but she was friendly. The ambiance was standard. The pricing is standard for Toronto. We ordered the mushroom fries with banana ketchup (as a recommendation by our waitress), Filipino Peanut Slaw, and Pork Belly Si'log to share, and my partner ordered the hazelnut coffee. Coffee: I knew it was a bad sign when he added 2 packs of sugar to the coffee. He only ever adds sugar when it doesn't taste right. Mushroom Fries: the menu item description reads "Oyster Mushroom Served with Banana Ketchup". 50% of the bag was filled with FRENCH FRIES! That is false advertisement!! I did not choose to pay $8 for a few pieces of mushroom and French fries! When I asked the waiter about this he simply told me that "yes it comes with fries". When I mentioned that nowhere on the menu does it say Potato fries, he replied: "I will tell my manager." What does telling your manager do for me? (And as expected the "mushroom fries" remained on our bill). ps neither the fries nor the mushrooms were crispy. Filipino Peanut Slaw: it was the only dish we finished, it was okay. Before our main, they also brought us a piece of bread (looked like a Wonderbread burger bun), and a sloppy chunk of butter. I would not have served that, if it were at my house. The Si'log came (our main): all I will say that it was not as described "Cooked to perfection". The non-fatty portion of the pork belly was extremely dry. we basically left that dish untouched (aside from the eggs). Do not waste your time or the space in your stomach. I would rather skip the food, and pay the restaurant for their time, and then eating elsewhere, then wasting my time there. Sorry.

Yelp
Came here for an early Vday dinner (I know, months late!) but forgot to post a review. Anyway, service was amazing! We got many great suggestions for what was good on the menu, but our hearts were set on the kare kare, the filipino bbq skewers, the ube latte (very late in the day but we didn't care) and some kalamansi drink. The kare kare was absolutely DELICIOUS - I would sooo get that again - the pork belly was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It paired SO WELL with the peanut butter sauce and had just the right amount of green beans and bok choy. HIGHLY recommend that. The bbq skewers were also just as delicious, each bite was bursting with tremendous flavour and was not dry at all! Filipino bbq is known for its sweetness and it was not shy of that. The ube latte was piping hot when I got it but was good overall. Would've liked a bit more sweetness added to it since I have a big sweet tooth but it was likeable. The kalamansi drink was also very citrus-y and delicious. The server we had was a sweet lady, can't remember her name but she was a great host and did a fantastic job taking care of us and our needs. She also recommended this fish dish which I know for sure we will try next time. This is probably my new fave Filipino place for premium-cooked soul-food! Highly recommend this place!!

Yelp
Really good food, ran and owned by really good people! Highly recommend their Kamayan. Has a nice modern twist and it's super tasty. Order a side of San Miguel and you'll feel like you're back in the Philippines even just for a couple of hours haha.

Yelp
I'm so glad more Filipino restaurants are popping up! It truly is an up and comer in terms of cuisine. Thanks to blogto, I was able to put this place on my to-eat list. Let me start off with the ambiance. Super rustic but in a cool tone. The light fixtures and the bottom of the bar I believe were made from metal sheets. There are potpourri cups on every table, and yes, you should take a whiff. It smells awesome! There were also chalkboard writings on the wall with weekly specials. Now for selfish reasons I would not let y'all know about their Tuesday special...but because I think for the greater yelper good, I will spill the beans. They have buck a shuck Tuesdays! Calling all oyster lovers...it is yes, a 1 dollar per oyster. I went all ham on that and ordered 12 which came with a seasoned vinegar with a subtle kick to it. It's definitely different, oh and it also come with lemon to squeeze on it. Now the best part! The main dishes. I ordered the barbecued baby squid and my boyfriend ordered the barbecued kalbi ribs. They each came with a small bowl of rice. My dish was super flavorful, in fact the squid was stuffed with some ingredients I wish I asked the chef about! The sauce was a nice pesto with some cherry tomatoes on the side. I don't recommend ordering this alone as a main though because I was still hungry. Thank the day for the kalbi ribs and my boyfriend for sharing some of it. It was a sweet, charred and salty all in one flavor to the ribs. Highly recommend. I really recommend getting anything bbq, since this is technically their specialty. I would love to try their take on kamayan as well. The chef/owner was extremely pleasant to talk to. He came to every table and ours just to strike up a conversation. I think this restaurant definitely deserves more recognition, they have really good food, and I mean really. However, there is no website currently so I would either check out blogto's archive for a review or go on their facebook page! Yum, yum, yum!

Yelp
It wasn't great... service was okay (which I don't Really care about if the food is amazing). The menu isn't that extensive and I was really hoping for Filipino breakfast. I didn't find the food authentic but it might be regional. The garlic rice had barely any garlic but lots of coconut. I'm glad I tried it but I would not be coming again. Cannot come close to Casa Manila and Chef George in Scarborough.

Yelp
This review can be summarized by saying "good food, terrible service." Due to COVID-19, I ordered in. We had spiced rice, pancit (noodles), lechon (crispy pork), beef, and chicken. Also in there were mangoes and grapes. For dessert, there was coconut pie. All tasted great. But waiting for it to come was a hassle and a half. We agreed on a 6PM delivery. At 5:45, I called them to confirm, but no answer. No big deal. I figured they're busy. 6PM comes. The food is still not there. 6:05PM, I call again. Still nothing. 6:15, I get a text message. Estimated delivery will be around 7PM. Already not happy. 7PM comes around, the food is still not there. New estimated delivery: about 7:15PM. Extremely disappointing. I was hungry at 6PM. To be nearly an hour and a half late is inexcusable. If they're running late, the professional thing to do is to call/text AHEAD of time, and let the customer know that. They didn't do that. If you're already late, with your following texts of predicted arrival time, there should be profuse apologies. There was none of that. And finally, if the delivery is nearly 1.5 hours late, there should be some measure taken to prevent negative word of mouth (like this review). A gift card (even for $10), an unannounced bonus, something. There was none of that. And lastly, even after the meal was dropped off, there were no apologies, or attempts to make up for the god-awful service.

Yelp
The place and decor is nice. Its a clean place with good number of seats. We went for lunch here and itcwas fairly quiet around that timevon a Saturday. We ordered the tamarind soup with salmon and kalbi beef. Both were good but the salmon was definitely better. Some dishes also come with unlimited rice, a little disappointed that it was not the garlic ricei normally get at other Filipino restaurants but it was still good. They also do Kamayan where they lay food on the banana leaf and you eat with your hands. If you haven't tried it before, i suggest you do. It is delicious but come hungry.

Yelp
From the kare kare to the Bbq dishes, everything was a crowd pleaser. Their pork and chicken sisig is by far the best sisig we've had in the city. Very pleasant and cozy restaurant. The servers were nice and so was the chef. It was nice being able to chit chat with him little bit more about the food. Will definitely be back to try more dishes and for more of the sisig.
