Skip Nantucket and Head to Northeast Harbor, a Charming Town on Maine’s Mount Desert Island | Vogue

"For a special-occasion dinner, book a water taxi to this fishing dock turned fine-dining restaurant that sources most ingredients from Maine—down to its very county—and with seafood pulled from right outside, the lobster or fish of the day is the move." - Elise Taylor

This place just nails it. Great views, relaxed atmosphere, wonderful service and very well prepared and presented food! The blueberry crumble dessert was awesome. Nice beer and wine selections with a full bar. We had mussels that were in a nice sauce with great flavor. Scallops, halibut, ribs and the squash entree dish were top notch. Everyone enjoyed their meals! About two hours from start to end without being rushed at all. Here is a tip: Go extra early and walk around the island. There are plenty of nice beach walking opportunities.

Isleford Dock Restaurant was our favorite Dinning stop on our Acadia Trip. Just amazing. You arrive by boat to a small island with almost no one around. You get about 3 hours on the island before the next ferry arrives to eat and explore. The restaurant is next to the ferry pier on one side, and a great museum on the history of the area on the other. You eat overlooking the water and all the lobster boats. It’s homey, beautifully decorated, and feels like a locals bar with definitely not just bar food. Our meal was elevated, delicious, and worth the price. We tried the lazy lobster and the oysters from about a mile from the restaurant. Tastiest meal we had in Acadia. And after eating you can walk the island until your ferry arrives, then you are on your way! Highly recommend checking out the small island Maine experience!

Islesford Dock is a true island treasure. The food is fresh, creative, and absolutely delicious — you can tell it’s prepared with real skill. The service is warm and welcoming, and the views of the harbor make the atmosphere unforgettable. A perfect Maine dining experience!

Islesford Dock Restaurant has incredible food with impeccable service and a stellar atmosphere. Our fish and chips was the tastiest I have ever had and the portion size was more than generous. Our server, Adam, was so attentive and friendly. An absolute must visit on the Cranberry Islands!

I've photographed a few weddings at Islesford Dock Restaurant and it never disappoints. It's a short boat ride from MDI, providing guests with a little bit of an adventure, and the sunsets are out of this world. The light that pours into the restaurant's windows at golden hour is magical! ig @katecrabtreephoto

We made reservations 48hrs in advance as they charge $30 pp for no shows. Yes, requires credit card for reservation. Arrived at 3:10, checked in with hostess who said our table was reserved for 3:30. Went in at 3:30, hostess said our table was given to another party because we didn't take the table at 3:10, but waited until our reservation time of 3:30. Our reserved table stayed empty while we ate at a different less pleasant one without a view right behind hostess desk (busy area). Plenty of lobsters in Maine don't recommend the hassle of this place.

We visited on a Tuesday morning in mid-June 2025. We arrived via the Sea Princess Cruise ship on the 9:30AM cruise. We did walk by the restaurant but we didn't think it was open this early in the morning. The park rangers told us how this restaurant was the inspiration for the Krusty Krab from SpongeBob and that was probably one of the coolest things. It certainly looks like it as well. We didn't actually buy or eat anything here but wanted to post about how cool it was to even see the restaurant on our trip that inspired such an iconic thing in children's television. We took a bunch of pictures.

The food delicious and the views were awesome! We took a Sail Acadia Charter on the Elizabeth T. to this restaurant. We really enjoyed their cheese biscuits and their fish and chips (the breading had a perfect crunch and the filet was huge!). We definitely recommend this spot.
