Isola Comacina

The only island of Lake Como. It played an essential role in the military history of the region. Valued for its exceptional nature and splendid views, Isola Comacina is an excellent location for walking and a lovely beach.

The island is beautiful, but in my opinion is €6 entrance per person to much for what you get. The church was closed and the old ruins where not accessible even if information signs where inside. Some parts of the old church are behind iron bars which is a pity.

Glorious!! Beautiful to walk around, take in the views and enjoy a picnic! The cafe and restaurant is very overpriced but the island itself is a treasure not to be missed!

DON'T MISS THIS PLACE when in Como! We had lunch here, then we couldn't eat dinner that night. There was sooooo much food!! It's was all delicious. They start with tons of vegetables, then bring a plate of meat, ham and beef, then comes the fish, which was outstanding, followed by the chicken course, the cheese course and finally dessert! It was a great meal in a great setting, with fabulous service. Plan on a light dinner after lunch here. We couldn't stay for the coffee show after, maybe next time.
