On a whim, one day, my wife and I decided to stop in the Istanbul Market just to check it out and see what all they had. We were met at the door by a guy who greeted us and held the door open as we entered. That seemed like a sign of things to come, and everyone who worked there seemed nice and happy to that we had come. The market has so many things that one doesn't find in a normal Kroger or Giant Eagle, foods found only in the Mediterranean countries, which made me very happy. They have a number of items that I've found also in Saraga over on Morse Road, but since I really hate driving on Morse, I'm glad to find those items here. One thing that I was especially happy to find was individually sold clementines! I hate having to buy a huge bag of them at Kroger and feel as if I have to eat the whole bag before they start to go bad. At the Istanbul Market, I can buy as few or as many as I want! The same is true of baby cucumbers -- at Kroger, I have to buy a package of 5 or 6, and at least one usually gets mushy before I eat it. At the Istanbul Market, I can get as few or as many as I need! I was also tempted to buy some of the really delicious-looking bread from the bakery, but I know we'd never eat it all before it starts to go bad. Which means that I have to go back to get individual rolls or loaves when we know we'll be able to eat them. I did make off with a variety of frozen foods that I have only ever ordered in Aladinn's restaurant, as well as some pretty cheap cans of grape leaf rolls and a few other staples. For its size, this place has quite a variety of foods, including fresh meats and prepared foods. I was really impressed. So will I go back? Yes! It might be one of my favorite new finds!
