On the Grid : Italian Street Kitchen

"One of the newest kids on the Grosvenor Street block, Italian Street Kitchen serves up everything you’d want from a simple and modern Italian menu in an appealing fit-out. The traditional, simple and flavoursome pizzas are some of the best going, the pasta’s fresh and tasty, and we particularly love the meatballs and calamari. The decor is modern industrial, the feeling is welcoming and efficient, and the open kitchen means there’s always something to watch." - Born & Raised

The pizza was just ok, the dough was a bit tough for us. The carpaccio was not what we expected as this was more like cold cuts. The rosemary fries was crispy but we couldn’t taste any rosemary or garlic flavour. The calamari was a bit chewy, maybe it wasn’t that fresh? The pasta lacked some flavour and was a bit overcooked but if you really wanted to try one I would recommend the prawn one as the sauce was deep and rich.

Have been here a few times and chose to come back for not only the yummy food but also the service and atmosphere. Sadly, this time I was very disappointed as I raved on about this place to my friend. Firstly, upon arrival, many staff but nobody greeted us. I understand the restaurant was busy, but a simple "Hi, I'll be with you shortly" would have gone far. Except we were left to stand there like idiots before going up to who looked like the manager to ask about our table. He was a dark guy in a button up shirt and trousers manning the till and drinks behind the counter. The interaction was very cold and transactional. Once seated, we were asked 3 times to order drinks. Clearly they don't have a system between the waiters. Once the food arrived it was delicious, no complaints there. As the evening started to whine down, around 9:10pm we, and another table were the last ones remaining. Lots of loud clanging from the manager who was polishing cutlery behind us and throwing them down. We at this point also warned in an cold manner that they were closing in 5 minutes, before he came around to the table next to us with the eftpos machine to take payment. They were not happy at the service also and disappointed by the manager, only to share with us that they are regular patrons, and were disgusted as the owner who was not in that night is very warm and welcoming. It certainly left a bad taste in our mouths!

Father’s Day lunch with a friend at Italian street kitchen. Neutral bay - One of their many locations. Restaurant wasn’t extremely busy inside - there are many tables outside along the side of the restaurant. We didn’t drink and I ordered the lamb ragu pasta, the beetroot salad ( the salad selection was really limited) and we ordered a portion of the truffle and Parmesan fries which looked golden and nice. My pasta was tasty, liked the addition of a mint leaf or two. I think the waitress was surprised at how little we ordered as she repeated the order a couple times. Casual. Warm and well priced.

Had such an amazing experience at this restaurant. Service was exceptional. Had a lovely waitress (we didn’t get her name) but she made us feel so welcome. It was my friends birthday and they were so accommodating to our big group. Ordered the lamb lasagne and four cheese and honey pizza and it was sensational.

We had an amazing experience at Italian Street Kitchen in Neutral Bay for their bottomless brunch. The food was absolutely delicious. The variety on the menu was great, and every dish we tried was well-balanced and satisfying. The drinks were also fantastic, with a good selection and generous pours, making the bottomless option well worth it. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always making sure our glasses were topped up and that we had everything we needed. The setting was beautiful, with a relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere that made it a great spot for a long, leisurely brunch. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for great Italian food and a fun, social dining experience!

Absolutely loved my experience at Italian Street Kitchen in Neutral Bay! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming with a beautiful mix of rustic charm and modern touches. Every dish we tried was packed with flavour — from the creamy burrata to the rich Nonna’s lasagna (my personal favourite). The seafood fregola was a standout, and the cocktails — especially the Mojito Cello — were refreshingly unique. Service was friendly and relaxed, making the whole evening feel easy and enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Italian with a great vibe. Will definitely be back!

We just had a spectacular dinner on New Year’s Eve. We had excellent food. I had the pepperoni honey pizza that was amazing. The service was incredible. The food was delicious and the ambiance was very nice. Sujana was our server and she was absolutely a delight. She was fast, courteous, friendly, and helped us make some great choices. It made our New Year’s Eve dinner one to remember.

We ( me and my father) were on the way to the pub when i saw the Italian restaurant, so we have decided to stop there …. And that was a big mistake…my father loves pasta but I try to stay away from it … We ordered a some sort of bolognese and I decided to get beetroot salad with extra chicken… Pasta was very water logged so that made the bolognese sauce on the watery side and without asking they put a lot of cheese…. My salad was tasteless with few yellowing rocket leaves , few specks of goats cheese and dry funky smelling chicken breast and wait ….. under lots of rocket I found some finely cut fennel and two slivers of orange segments …. Not even a good helping of salt made the salad edible…and at the $30 price tag for salad and $29 for pasta . I was so looking forward to feed my dad on his outing from nursing home and trying not to upset him with the whole situation. I have to say that the waitress was offering replacement for my salad with different salad but I just wanted to get the heck out of there… definitely not recommending as it is pretend Italian street food 😳😳😳

Yelp
I must say I'm disappointed with this place. I had the Napoli Casarecce and it was bland and boring. My friend had the Gnocchi Bolognese, and he was also disappointed in the lack of flavour. Presentation: kind of looked like a can of spagettios dumped on a plate. Taste: tasted like the frozen microwave meal from Coles I had last week. For $3 I don't expect more but for $15 I would like a bit more flavour. Service: was ok but nothing special. We asked for salt and pepper but never got it. Would not return or recommend.

Yelp
What happened to the great service here... I'm here right now, and one of the staff who has the letter R tattooed on her neck is just plain rude and very unwelcoming... with two tables in the whole restaurant taken we were told we couldn't sit on a bench seat because they were hoping larger groups would come in. Okay cool I understand that... but when a smaller bench seat became available we asked if we could sit there, no problem she says, but we had to clear the table ourselves because she wouldn't do it for quite some time... later on the same girl comes and clears our table whilst we are eating, actually food in hand and chewing and she takes our plates away... where on absolute earth has the service gone let alone some damn respect... 1 star for service 4 star for food

Yelp
I loved this! $60 for two mains, a shared starter and a wine/soft drink. Fast service but my god the food was good! So tasty and delicious! They don't take bookings so be prepared to wait but it's completely worth it We went on a busy night but they fit us outside with blankets and heaters and we forgot all about Sydney's icy weather! Must try!

Yelp
I came to your restaurant and ordered some takeaway. It was a busy saturday night and I was waiting patiently in the corner on one of your bar stools. After about 30 minutes one of your extremely rude employees comes up to me and tells me I have to move as a "PAYING CUSTOMER" would like to sit there. I inform him that I am also one of these paying customers and that I'm waiting for my order. He again rudely informs me that he doesn't care and that I have to move. So I ask him if he thinks it's OK IF I STAND HERE IN FRONT OF THE COUNTER FOR 30+ MINUTES. To which he replies yes that's fine I'll go check on your order. What do you know it's been ready for ages sitting on the counter with a whole lot of other orders. By the time I get home the food is pretty much cold. Sort your staff out!

Yelp
I came here for a mid-week girls dinner on a Wednesday night and snagged one of the last tables around 6:15pm before it got full and people had to wait for a table. It's order at the counter, which made the front area very busy with various people ordering and other people waiting to put their name down for a table. I think table service would provide a better and more efficient environment. Despite this, the service was friendly and the food was amazing. I had the lamb with a huge rocket side salad, my sister ordered a range of gluten free entrees as her meal, and all the others also enjoyed dishes such as spaghetti (they have gluten free pasta too) and meatballs and pizza. The open style kitchen is also a winner and kept the place cosy on a cold evening.

Yelp
Our family went there for dinner last week after a recommendation from some friends. We thought it was outstanding and great value. It is Roman style cooking, good choices available and very tasty. Take out adult drinks and it would be a very cheap meal! Highly recommended!
