On the Grid : Italian Street Kitchen

"One of the newest kids on the Grosvenor Street block, Italian Street Kitchen serves up everything you’d want from a simple and modern Italian menu in an appealing fit-out. The traditional, simple and flavoursome pizzas are some of the best going, the pasta’s fresh and tasty, and we particularly love the meatballs and calamari. The decor is modern industrial, the feeling is welcoming and efficient, and the open kitchen means there’s always something to watch." - Born & Raised

Venturing to a different part of town, we found ourselves here. We did book ahead and thankfully we did as it was busy. Loved our table we were placed at, the service so engaging from our maître d, and the food delicious. But for me, I would have preferred the pizza base to be a little more crunchy rather than a dough type texture. When dining out is becoming a luxury due to the expense, if you do want to treat you and the kids come here. Looking forward to going back.

Had an amazing time today! The food was delicious & the service was incredible! Staff were so friendly and attentive ☺️ perfect spot for a family lunch or dinner, I will definitely be back! (You NEED to try the Dubai chocolate pistachio tiramisu)

Vick and his outstanding team truly provide nothing but excellence. The cuisine is magnificent, the ambience is perfect and the overall service is brilliant. Matcha tirimisu is utterly divine, highly recommend. Chefs kiss - world class menu.

Food was so good. It was our first time, and everything was great. Staff were friendly and helpful. There was a bit of a wait, but it was understood since it was busy night. Will definitely come back again!

I felt like I had to sacrifice myself so others don't have to. Service was quick, and the atmosphere was nice, but the food was disappointing. The arancini was still cold inside, and the rice wasn’t cooked evenly (see the photo). The tiramisu was just below average — you could get something better at most supermarkets. It didn’t feel like the chefs put enough love and care into their dishes. As others have said, this place needs a lot of improvement in food quality

On different trips to Penrith over the last three months I have visited this restaurant four times. This gives me a perspective I don’t usually get when writing a review after one visit. The fit out feels good and the greenery gives a softer feeling to a large space. The open kitchen at one end of the space looks the goods and seems to pump out the food quickly. The service on my visits was prompt and friendly. The prices are a bit high for what you get. Of all the restaurants inside Panthers, this one in my view has the most relaxed vibe. It does get busy and and noisy however fortunately I managed to avoid the noise. Dining on my own when on a business trip means I don’t have to speak to anyone. I think there are numerous Italian Street Kitchens in other places. The one in Panthers does not feel Iike a corporate chain outlet. The menu in my view is limited however there are a few interesting choices. The seafood fregola - a pasta - (see my photograph and caption with description) is perhaps the most interesting. The barramundi fillet was I think a little over cooked. On the drinks front, they have a collection of cocktails including non alcoholic cocktails. On most of my visits I settled for a good Italian sparkling mineral water. Despite the limited choices, and feeling the menu stays fixed for some time, I may return. They seem to cater well for large groups so that may be useful for you.

I dined 21/05. I was on my own, so they stuck me right out the back, it was like I'd been sent to the naughty corner. I ordered squid ink pasta and a glass of Rosé. The Rosé was lovely, the pasta was just terrible. It was a tasteless congealed disgusting pile of muck. See attached photo. I was offered a replacement meal but had lost my appetite after 1 mouthful of the squid ink pasta. It shouldn't have been served up. Gross, go somewhere else.

My partner and I had high hopes for this restaurant, but unfortunately, we left very disappointed. When we arrived, we asked if there was availability for two, but were told nothing was available until 8:30pm. Oddly enough, when we checked online, there was a 7:45pm booking available—so we made that and waited. We returned early at 7:35pm to be polite and prompt, but were rudely told by (what seemed to be the manager) to “wait outside,” while other guests were invited to sit and wait for their tables inside. When our booking time came, the same man simply pointed at us to come over, no greeting or friendliness, no effort to make us feel welcome. He asked if we wanted table water but never brought it—and no one else followed up. We waited around 20 minutes before we even managed to get the attention of a waiter to place our order. Thankfully, the young waitress who served us was lovely, polite and helpful—but that was the only positive part of the night. We ordered two entrees and two mains, expecting the entrees to come first (as you would at any decent restaurant) but instead everything arrived all at once, about 30 minutes later. The food was barely warm, didn’t taste fresh, and while it was okay, it definitely didn’t feel worth the price or the wait. No staff member came to check on us during the meal, ask if we needed anything, or see if the food was okay. The whole experience felt careless and unprofessional. Such a shame—poor service, average food, and an uncomfortable atmosphere. We won’t be returning.
