Yelp
I was quite impressed by the hotel my husband picked for our one night stay. We'll start with the pros.
The location is prime for shops and nearby restaurants, but is close enough to other places to make a short drive too. The hotel has been recently renovated (from reviewers it was in 2015?), and we could tell. The receptionist who checked us in (and out) was professional, friendly, and made the process easy. The room was very clean and modern, and an end unit, with only housekeeping on one side by the bathroom, which made it seem very quiet (more on this later). The bed seemed to be medium firm, a memory foam mattress. The housekeeper greeted us in the hallway and was very chill and welcoming, asking us to let him know if we ever needed anything. Husband was pleased to find that the in-room coffee supply had more than the usual amount of cream and sugar he would find in other hotels. The breakfast buffet next morning (which we paid for at $14 per person since we're not any kind of special Marriott member) was good, with breakfast breads and pastries, fruit, juices, parfaits, delicious hot cinnamon-y steel cut oatmeal, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, French toast, hash, and make-your-own waffles. We almost went to a nearby waffle place instead but for the price we felt we were getting much more at the hotel.
Now to the cons: The fan was noisy, turning on and off every 5 minutes (husband said he timed it...), and if you're a very light sleeper like my husband, this may irritate you. But I slept through it, though I also consider myself a light sleeper. Whoever was upstairs also made enough noise to keep my husband awake a bit too. Next, my shower water was just warm, and never got to close to very warm, though I had the handle all the way to hot and I do take long showers. When husband showered next, he said his water got hot. I'm guessing it just takes a long time to get the water to a good temperature.
Also, here are a few tips I'll repeat from other reviewers: 1. Parking is FREE on weekends in the parking garage next to the hotel; 2. Parking is accessible on a one way street (East Green Street), in the garage just past Cinepolis; and 3. To go up in the elevator, you have to take your hotel key out of the paper slip and place it flat against the sensor. You don't need the key to go down.
