I was immensely pleased with my tea (raku) experience at ITO Space. My friend and I were guided on an intimate journey by a kind barista who mindfully paused before each course, walking us through its thoughtful preparation, from tea leaf to counter. His passion and knowledge shone through at every step, allowing us to appreciate and interact with each drink on a deeper level.
The staff’s generosity also stood out. When we expressed curiosity about a tea latte enjoyed by another pair of guests, asking if it might be possible to try, our barista kindly offered each of us one on the house, simply so we could taste more of their craft. Every beverage was beautifully prepared with care, precision, and high-quality ingredients, but the oat tea latte was the star of the show for me. One small point of critique, however, would be the light-wafer snack. While being a thoughtful accompaniment, it was sadly overly dry and strongly stuck to the teeth, which was a slight disappointment and disruption from the otherwise refined tasting journey.
As for the establishment itself, it may be a little tricky to find at first, but stepping inside reveals a cosy interior. Warm earthy tones, minimal yet intentional details, like the delicate white stones adorning the tables, create a serene atmosphere. I also appreciated the quality of the bathroom amenities, though those sensitive to smaller spaces will likely find the bathroom uncomfortable. Having visited during the day, I was impressed by how effectively the large back window could be darkened to preserve the soft ambience.
ITO Space offers an elevated and intimate tea experience, curated by a small team with genuine passion. On my next visit to the Philippines, I will certainly return to try their non-alcoholic cocktail and coffee courses, even as someone who doesn’t drink coffee! That’s how much their innovative approach can capture the curiosity of anyone who appreciates a beverage, crafted with passion and intention.
