Ivory Safari Lodge & Khulu Bush Camp

We (family of 4, mom, dad, 2 adult kids) had an amazing experience at the Ivory Lodge. The accommodations were excellent and comfortable. The common spaces were welcoming and we like the lodge, the camp fire and of course the hide. We saw so much wild life up close there. You are at a camp. If you need to sit by an infinity pool and have a mani-pedi, and sip a bougie cocktail, don't go on safari, you can stay at home at your country club....|Yes, it gets cold at night in July as it is winter in the Southern Hemisphere. We were so happy to find electric blankets and heated beds. Honestly, you just sleep there. There is plenty of space, the toilet shower, running hot water works great. Most of the time you are out and about anyways. |There is plenty of great, delicious food and drink. The real experience were the staff and our guide. Everybody is super friendly, helpful, cheerful and so competent. You spend a lot of time with your guide on the game drives and in our case, Munja's knowledge was impressive and unparalleled. Every animal, track, bird, every call, every plant and yes every dropping you can see, he knows what it is and what it means at that time of the day, the season etc. Yes, we saw four out of the big five in the first 24 hours! (no rhinos in the park) and so much more. We would go again in heart beat.

This lodge complex is just outside the Hwange National Park, in a private concession that gave us an amazing experience of the wildlife all around. The elephants came right up to the wire fence, and we had a great view of many other passing animals. The guides were very experienced and they used their knowledge to track and locate the best animal sightings each day. We saw elephants, impalas and buffaloes in their hundreds, baboons and vervets, Kudus, painted dogs, zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, birds of many kinds including secretary birds, the list goes on. The food was of a good standard and the lodges while basic were comfortable but we were not in them for long because there was so much to do elsewhere in the area (all organised by the lodge staff). The service was second to none and always with a big smile.

My family and I spent 3 wonderful days/nights at Ivory Lodge. This is a special place and we truly enjoyed the experience. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by the staff as well as by the elephants whom we could watch up close from the hide. They were so close! The elephants were regular visitors and we gained a deep appreciation for these gentle giants. |The game drives were phenomenal and we saw 4 of the big 5 in less than 36 hours! Our guide, Munya, made every outing memorable and educational. He is a font of knowledge and he enriched the entire experience for us. We not only got to spend time with him on the drives, but also at meals and at the fire pit in the evenings. Being able to share so much time together was unique and rewarding. I know we will keep in touch well beyond our trip to Ivory Lodge. |Both the accommodations and the food were also very nice. Family style meals in the lodge were varied, tasty and copious. We were fed 6 times a day and they were very considerate of our daughter's vegetarian needs. Our tents were comfortable and we were especially happy to discover the electric blankets at night because it was chilly! |All in all, our stay at Ivory Lodge was outstanding. I cannot say enough about the exceptionally friendly and dedicated staff who took care of our every need. We highly recommend this experience for families and hope we can return someday.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Ivory Lodge Safari! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Raphael – and even more memorably, by a herd of elephants right at the lodge! The accommodation was beautiful, blending comfort and nature perfectly.||We were so well looked after – with six eating opportunities a day, we were never hungry! Every meal was delicious, and the drink selection was excellent, with something for every taste.||A special mention must go to our safari guide, Patrick – he was everything you could hope for in a guide: knowledgeable, patient, passionate, and truly made each game drive unforgettable. We left with incredible memories and a deep appreciation for Hwange. Highly recommend!

Absolutely wonderful stay all around. This is a small camp with all the amenities one needs, including very outstanding food, wonderful completely attentive staff including manager Sasha who had dinner with us one night, and amazing environment. While tucked away in your luxury tent including a heated mattress pad bed and indoor and outdoor shower, you hear animal sounds such as big cats and elephants in the night. Elephants are especially close by drinking the water from the pool. Our game drive guide, Caleb, was the very best. He went out of his way to share his vast knowledge about the animals, and eagle eyesight in spotting those hidden. Despite staying out later than usual one star filled evening, sharing information about the community and local people (and while mixing cocktails for us), he continued to look for lions on the way back. I can't wait to return...

We absolutely LOVED Ivory Lodge! We have been on safaris in many different countries and Ivory Lodge is how it’s supposed to be done! Good food, good drinks great people, beautiful environment…the list goes on. Do yourself a favour and book a stay at Ivory Lodge!

Wonderful and friendly staff! We loved the bungalows and their view over the waterhole. Very confortable and close to nature at the same time. Good food, good wine. But the best of the best was our ranger : we are deeply grateful to Zeb and hope to be back soon (the sooner the better) ! |Huge thanks to all the staff who took such good care of us and our son !

Wonderful accomodation and excellent safari guides. Saw lots of animals! Has a viewing deck that you can relax and have a drink while watching animals drink or the elephants which come right up to you for a look! Great food, great staff, great rooms!
