I'm updating my review. The owner called back after I left a message saying that the arrangement was not to the brief, and said that absolutely she will make it right. I'm really happy to be able to post this. I'll update again with the new arrangement when I have it. I'm really pleased that the owner was so quick to respond, and willing to make things right. My faith in Ixia is completely restored.

Such amazing and unique arrangements!!!! The new owner is so sweet, helpful and creative. The window always has something beautiful and different. The artwork for the art walk first Thursdays is an added bonus. This is my new go to florist in San Francisco. I know IXIA has been around for awhile, but it has now become something really special.

Stunning gorgeous creative extremely original. It's a place where you can find Japanese artisan floral arrangements, except it is in every way original. From Japanese river rocks, dried eucalyptus pods on branches, customized decorative boxes.... It is a amazing place. Every corner is instagram worthy.

Our company gets an arrangement from Ixia every week, and they're almost always beautiful and creative. These gay boys know their flowers... the lines are always well put together, and they have great taste in general. I've now ordered from them for 2 valentine's days and various other occasions, and they haven't missed a delivery yet, and have not failed to impress the recipient yet. :) Yes, arrangements are a little pricey, I believe it's a $65 minimum order for delivery, but the quality is worth it.

I AM SO ANGRY these fkrs "misplaced" the birthday flowers order i placed with them yesterday. and the kicker is, that being incredibly paranoid, i actually called them yesterday to make sure that they were delivered, and was told that the delivery man had just returned from the delivery!! SO THEY LIED!! i called today since the flowers, a "happy birthday and welcome to the family" gift for my cousin's fiance, did NOT arrive, and they casually apologized for this, citing the reason being that they placed the order slip in some random pile that did not get looked at. needless to say i am pissed. now i am going to have to buy him an actual present.. do you know how difficult it is to buy a present for a dude, especially a dude who is marrying your cousin??? this place fkn sux. they didn't even offer any consolation for not sending the flowers yesterday. they just said "sorry".

Um, can someone please explain to me what is going on here? I received an arrangement from Ixia that was as stunning as it was incredibly formed and crafted - just jaw dropping. Here is the mystery - it was almost a month ago and it's still amazing - A MONTH! In case you didn't get that, I said four weeks! I know! Some of the more delicate flowers came off but this shiz is freakin going for it. In flower arrangement years, I'm sure it's like in it's early hundreds. I would like for someone from Ixia to tell me what the hell kind of voodoo/soul selling/sorcery that went on to wield this kind of crazy floral power? Rock on guys.

for the beauty whore, eye candy lover, visual junkie and gardening types, ixia is paradise! my jaw drops every time i go past the windows..... absolute gorgeousness they make me want to actually take up floral design, which is really strange as i have a very un-green thumb and kill everything except succulents and spider plants the next time i have a fashion show, i want ixia to make me giant headdresses and meandering backdrops for models to wander through to wispy strains of early 30s burlesque style music...... this place is a treat, top quality style and feel free to order me arrangements for delivery to my atelier anytime! ~i am not domestic. i am a luxury, and therefore, necessary~

Stunning! That's the only word that describes the arrangement they made for me. Their window designs always catch my eye, and sometimes they're so striking that I walk in and look around. And that's what one should do, come in, walk around, engage the staff. They don't bite, as far as I've found, and are quite helpful. A little money can make a nice impact. A lot of money can knock socks and more off, trust me I know... Enjoy!

A new owner took over almost a year ago (?) and is wonderful. She maintains the gorgeous displays that IXIA is known for and has been in the flower business forever-she knows what she is doing. I want to get married JUST so she can do my flowers. I wish I still had the picture of a flower bouquet I got for my bday, but it was stunning.

Love the place. Very, very pricey but unique, beautiful, and always impressive. Ixia sets itself apart from other florists and delivers - literally and figuratively.

One star for having pretty flower arrangements on their site. Of course I have no idea whether those are real or not because surpriiiise!! They lost my order. Even after a phone call and 2 follow up confirmation emails and with +2 weeks to prepare the arrangement, they... lost... the... order. Called around 1:45 day of delivery to find out why they hadn't been delivered yet and was told the delivery guy had left 1/2 an hour earlier so flowers were on the way. Called back just shy of 5pm and was told there was no order, there would be no flowers and there was nothing they could do about it. Thanks for ruining the birthday!

They're contribution to the community is their window displays, its always worth seeing what theyr are doing. How they stay open? meaning I cant imagine who they sell to, is beyond moi!

Awful experience with IXIA, borderline dishonest! I had seen and fell in love with a beautiful arrangement in their window and my boyfriend went in to buy it a few months later as a Christmas gift. I live in Portland (OR) so he asked to have it shipped. They told him that the piece could not be shipped as it was on Styrofoam and would fall apart. Hence they told him that they would create something very similar on a more stable surface. They also said that they would send a photo before shipping it. Instead, they DID NOT send a photo and shipped something completely different. The original piece was colorful and enriched with dried flowers and other dry seedpods while what they sent was 80% full of musk (a local florist explained to me that the dry elements that they did not add are the most expensive parts, so they basically used musk to save money). As a result, this new piece had a completely different feel and really did not fit in the spot that we had reserved for it. If they had sent us a photo before shipping it, we would have told them that it was not right and prevented them to ship it to Oregon. Instead, I now have this piece in my house, too expensive to ship back and impossible to fix. I was very surprised of the lack of professionalism for such a nice shop. This was such a cheap shot....

I've always loved the windows at IXIA.... They do things to flowers and foliage and bark and moss that kinda make me crazy.... in a good way! Then..... I was sent an arrangement from there.....and......I was FLOORED! An gorgeous, creative assortment of all kinds of blossoms and other natural goodies....in a beautiful ceramic vase! I was very impressed, and would highly recommend that everyone receive a bouquet from IXIA! No tired FTD crap, here!

The most beautiful florist in San Francisco! They hve lways been very helpful and ever ready to assist me no matter what the price range. I like to visit there t least once every couple of weeks. Their designs make me feel happy. I love their natural pottery and unusual odd pieces. Something about strange and unsuul that makes this florist stand out bove the rest.

They are to floral arrangements what Frank Lloyd Wright is to architecture - attractive, immediately identifiable, and beyond most people's means. Their creations are ideal for marble tables in grand entrance halls, so if your hostess lives in a studio apartment, a bouquet of cut flowers from Safeway will be an infinitely better gift when you go for dinner. As dramatically eye-catching as their window displays are, they probably repel rather than attract potential customers in the market for something simple.

This used to be the most innovative florist in the city but they have fallen into a very very deep rut of unusual-flowers-and-moss-lashed to-driftwood-in-a-hyper-organic-arrangement. Still a very distinctive style and your mileage may greatly vary. They still win points from me with their Halloween window displays. One year, lots of live spiders.

Ixia is pure fabulousness. Their creations are insanely beautiful and seem to come from another planet. I always go to them when I want to blow someone away with a thank you gift. I don't like to think about the fact that these amazing organic art pieces eventually end up in the trash. I guess that's part of the fabulousness factor though.

Beautiful display windows! But guess what, the wonderful artist that creates them is rarely there, even though he is delightful.... the rest of the staff is absolutely horrible, honestly just terrible. I've lived in my neighborhood many years and after my experience ordering a custom designed piece (mind you not a cheap piece) was so bad I'll never step foot in their store again. Perfectly fine by me, there are plenty of other florists in the city that have the most basic of customer service skills. 1# you might get helped once you walk in.... maybe after 20 mins if you're lucky 2# It's a problem when your piece is done and you have to hunt down the salesman to take your payment so you can leave.....they leave you hanging, instead of using proper time management Take notes management there are locals that share experiences and make recommendations to many people... This place is on my do not touch list

On one of my artist's dates while planning my wedding, I stumbled upon Ixia and it's woodsy, ethereal window displays. Walking in, you feel like you have left the city and embarked into an enchanted forest. It is a workshop full of living pieces and the arrangements feel more like a natural occurring phenomena than a humanly constructed piece of art.

I like things that I've never seen done before, even when it's something completely out of my range of taste (exception being Jackass). Novelty makes my eyes pop and jaw drop... ...and that is exactly what happened to me today as I walked by IXIA: a preciseley placed row of sculptures: succulents atop a vertical stalk of dried bamboo atop a cairn of river stones, these elements actually increasing in diameter as they rose! And there just aren't words to describe the spectacle in the other window...just my jaw dragging along market st and into the shop to express my thanks for their talent and efforts and sharing of their gifts in such a publicly accessible way. It was a very pleasant experience inside...very dangerous for me as I adore greenery and just have no time to play with it anymore. I could have easily walked out of there with an armful of plantlife resembling sea flowers and unusual insects had I not been in such a hurry. If $65 is the min for delivery, I think that's well worth what they create! I think I've seen their work in several local restaurants and it DEFINITELY adds MUCH to the ambiance and thus the enjoyment of the dining experience. for me, at least!

I always love their arrangements but they never last longer then 3 days. The first day I had to pick out dying daffodils. If you need an arrangement to look good for just a day or two this is the place

I think their displays are beautiful, even if I have to stand and ponder what sort of apartment I'd need to buy anything here. Even if they are in a bit of a driftwood-n-kindling rut, as Patrick notes, they still manage to look completely different ,day in and day out, from virtually any other florist anywhere--and it's different in a beautiful way, so I give them an extra star.

This is my FAVORITE florist in SF. They have such beautiful unique arrangements, I wish I could afford to have one delivered to me each week! I discovered Ixia when I lived in the Castro many years ago. They have such a great window display that draws you in instantly. I've waited for a time when I needed a nice arrangement for someone in SF and today was the day. I ordered flowers for my boss' bday around 10am. The flowers were delivered to us by 3 that same day. They followed my instructions perfectly: the flowers were fresh, the colors were vibrant and the floral selections were creative. While I will admit the arrangements are pricey, take a gander at the pics and you'll see why. I have no problem shelling out some extra bucks when the product is artistic, unique and beautiful.

I love, love, love strolling by this business. I'm always inspired by the displays and it makes me think of floral arranging and design in a new way. Apparently some people think it's not that impressive, by the reviews below. But I, for one, am a huge fan!

This was to be a special gift for my husband and and they came through with flying colors. The arrangement was original and equally as beautiful. My husband loved it; it was really a special thing. I can't thank them enough for putting together such a beautiful arrangement I would really recommend them; they're worth the price

I needed help with flowers for a nice dinner for a friend at a Casto place. Called, Richard set me up with a greate spring bouquet. I changed the rating from a 3 to a 4 after seeing the great presentation. Use IXIA.

Ixia might have the most beautiful arrangements in town. They are expensive, but well worth it. I love their window displays, and going into the store. These guys are true artists in every sense of the word ! They are also very nice to work with....very friendly and great customer service !

OUTSTANDING! IXIA creations are the best on the planet! My company has used them for the past two years for creating the most beautiful Holiday Gift Creations. Gary & his staff most definitely think outside the box and are most artistic.....Nature rearranged is the best way to describe his work. I have been a marketing director for many years and have used many companies in the past to assist with holiday and client gifts. IXIA by far is the best vendor I have ever found. great flowers, awful customer service. I called at 10 AM to make sure flowers got there right away. I was told they would be there at 1:30. When I called my friend at 3 to ask if he got them, he hadn't. I called Ixia and talked with a cranky guy who said that deliveries don't go out until 1:30 so my friend didn't get the delivery until 3:30. He didn't seem to care that I thought it was going to be sent earlier. For $115 I expect a lot more. I won't be using them again.

I suspect the owner got customer service training at somewhere like a large public utility or other large monopoly that doesn't have to try very hard. Urggghhh...

I've never been anything less than floored by the beauty of Ixia's displays and merchandise. When will my boyfriend finally get the hint that he needs to buy me something from this place?

I just moved to SF and started decorating my place. I have this large indoor pot that I wanted to find something to put in. I happened to walk into IXIA. I love there selection and the sales man was very knowledgeable and helped the perfect arrangement! I would recommend them
