Incredible food although definitely need to book in advance. We were lucky enough to get a booking a week before we came. Food was amazing and reasonably priced. Staff were so welcoming and accomodating. As per most bars in Echoland they do charge a small cover change of 300 Yen which includes a small snack. Each person dining must also order a drink. Considering they must cover a license and only hold a small amount of tables this is absolutely reasonable!! Just worth keeping in mind.

We really enjoyed our dinner here. We were a group of 7, so needed to split up into 3 at the bar and 4 at the table next to it, but that was fine. There is a minimum of one drink per person, but that was also okay as they had a wide variety of beers (including a good non-alcoholic one), sake, cocktails, and soft drinks. I loved my yuzu shochu cocktail! We had so many amazing dishes - the cucumber with wasabi miso, grated yam with leek, wagyu beef sushi, chicken meatballs, egg omelette, and baked mackerel were all standouts, but honestly everything we ordered was great. I will definitely return the next time I'm in Hakuba!

This Izakaya is a gem! We managed to get a seat without booking and only realized we were lucky coz the place filled up very quickly! The food was so good and the atmosphere was very authentic. Highly recommended and I suppose u would need to book coz number of tables available is very small.

We managed to grab a last-minute opening on their website for the same day, and honestly, I wish we hadn’t. The food was, at best, mediocre — only the sashimi and oysters were decent, but everything else fell short of expectations. Given the high prices, we left feeling disappointed. If you have other cities on your itinerary, save your money and time for a better dining experience elsewhere. Thankfully, Japan has no shortage of fantastic restaurants, so you won’t be missing out by skipping this one.

An amazing restaurant with a great atmosphere. The staff were super friendly and the food was amazing. The best we have had on this trip. We booked via the web site, with no issues. You will need to book, as it is a very small restaurant. The staff even organised a taxi for us at the end of the meal. I would highly recommend if you in Hakuba.

Really cosy homey japanese izakaya. Delicious grilled food, fresh sashimi and good drinks. If I stayed longer I would definitely come back.

Somehow, we were lucky to get a table the day of. This was an authentic experience but honestly not quite worth the hype. The food was amazing, especially sashimi and all the raw seafood but not mind blowing.

15/3/2024: Was very lucky to have gotten a table for 4 without any reservation. Pleasantly surprised at how quaint the place was. Very authentic Japanese experience. Food was amazing. Service was warm. We ended up ordering too many skewers. I personally enjoyed the fried mochi with natto and the freshly shucked oysters. Double thumbs up. Will come back again if we are in the area.

Yelp
4/5 for service, 3/5 for food. You should definitely make a reservation. We called early the day of and could only book an 8pm reservation. I thought the service was pretty good, but the food we ordered was just ok. We got agedashi tofu (which was pretty good), Yakitori, and baked mackerel. I don't recommend the yakirori meatballs unless you like bits of cartilage. The baked mackerel was pretty moist, but could use more flavor.

Yelp
This place is great... as long as you know the menu. Big hits: yamaimo tororo cheese yaki, maguro/avocado salad, pari-pari potato salad (just do it! esp for kids!), hokke (bbq fish), salmon salad, karaage (fried chicken), nasu-tomato cheese yaki. Baked avocado is nasty.
