Izakaya Matsuri

Izakaya Matsuri requires reservations and carries a premium price point, positioning itself as a high-end dining option. However, the experience did not align with these expectations. The restaurant's design is notably plain and simple, lacking the sophisticated ambiance that usually accompanies its pricing tier. The waitress provided exceptional service; she was genuinely friendly, pleasant, and highly attentive throughout our visit. While adequately prepared, the dishes failed to deliver the unique quality or high standard of flavour necessary to justify the cost. Excellent service anchors this experience, but the high pricing contrasts sharply with the plain atmosphere and the average quality of the food. The value proposition here feels inconsistent.

We were having cravings for Asian food after staying in South Africa for more than a week. This Japanese restaurant was within walking distance from our Airbnb so decided to give it a try. We order sushi, chicken tonkasu and pork loin with fried rice. Everything was good will come back again to try other food.

I don’t understand how this restaurant get this high rates. we were 14people. owner pretend be nice to us but they served the couple of tables who came later later than us. we ordered noodle things like udon..it served over 40minutes and it taste like sea salt. I can not finish it at all and I don’t recomend

This restaurant is one of our favorites in Cape Town. I especially loved the sushi rolls. Definitely a must visit if you like Japanese food!

Five star service at Izakaya Matsuri and the food is to die for. Great sushi, great vibe and not to miss

We recently visited Izakaya Matsuri and loved the new menu additions. The sushi was fresh and beautifully made, and the kimchi ramen was rich and flavorful. We also enjoyed the tataki salad, calamari, and agedashi tofu. Great food, cozy vibe, still one of our favorite Japanese spots in Cape Town.

A hidden gem. Service as well as food were amazing. People are kind, the food is great, but not just, everything was super flavorful, highly recommend !

Amazing flavors if you are in the area must stop by and have some miso soup and signature ramen noodle! ❤️❤️❤️
