Yelp
Firstly - I tend not to believe many of the reviews of places in Florida, just my own experience. Too many comments on lack of quantity vs speaking of quality, or 'it's so authentic!' When they talk about a dragon roll, or other such nonsense.
Food was spot on. Mentaiko fries very similar flavor profile to Fukuoka. Obviously US fries themselves are different, hence a little acceptable change. Yakitori was well seasoned and not overdone. We got pork belly, chicken thigh, chicken breast and veggies (eggplant, corn, shishito)
Kaarage, garlicky bok choi were also spot on in preparation, and slightly Americanized flavor.
Good sake offerings. (Dassai 45 never fails to please an American audience.)
Service was attentive and pleasant. We did order other items and a server who knows their business might have staggered it a bit more, but good effort.
Had all the elements an American Izakaya tends to have for decor - random Japanese porcelain signage (of weird origin- beware of bears, company names) and of course plenty of sake company banners and Japanese vintage nostalgia.
Parking sucks, and all the neighborhood businesses know Tori will be busy, and tow cars. Uber is a better choice.
Gave them 5 stars as for what they set out to do - they do it well.
