We went to this small town of Gospić with our 6-person family, including two children, hoping to enjoy some tasty and local food. Based on positive reviews, we thought this restaurant would be a good choice.
When we arrived, a large lady asked how many of us there were and whether we wanted to sit inside or outside. We chose to eat inside. She then pointed us to a large table at the end of the dining room, clearly marked with a “Reserved” sign. We were surprised but assumed that since she personally showed us that table, it was fine to sit there.
About 15 minutes later, while we were still choosing our meals, she suddenly came to us very upset, accusing us of taking a reserved table and saying things like “How could you do this to me? You tricked me!”. We were shocked, as she never once asked if we had a reservation before seating us there.
We immediately said it was not a problem at all and that we could move to another table. However, she kept repeating that we had done something wrong and angrily moved another table around, complaining that she had “prepared the other table for guests” and now had to fix everything because of us.
At this point, we felt very uncomfortable. Even though we offered several times to move, her tone and behavior were so unpleasant that we decided not to eat there. As we were leaving, she even told us it was “good we were going, because there are other restaurants in the area.”
Overall, we were very surprised and disappointed to be treated this way as tourists who simply wanted to have a nice meal in a restaurant that came recommended. We have never experienced such unwelcoming and rude service anywhere else.
