This was an interesting and worthwhile museum visit, especially for us since we couldn’t visit Ephesus due to heavy rain. Instead, this museum gave us the opportunity to see many very old and well-preserved artifacts from the regions around Izmir, all in one place.
The collection includes a variety of sculptures and busts. However, for some of them, it was not clearly explained whether they were original pieces or replicas, which left us a bit uncertain. More detailed descriptions would definitely improve the visitor experience.
The museum is spread over two floors with a good overall layout. The exhibition is well-organized, the lighting is excellent, and the arrangement of the artifacts makes the visit enjoyable and easy to follow. Unfortunately, the basement floor was closed during our visit, so we couldn’t explore that section.
Overall, it is a solid and enjoyable museum, well worth visiting—especially if weather or time constraints prevent you from seeing nearby archaeological sites like Ephesus.
