Delicious ramen place in South Lafayette. The tonkatsu broth is fantastic. You can customize the spice which is nice. Full bar and friendly staff. This is a solid place if you haven't been. Portions are large.

Google
izumi will do it EVERY TIME. if this place ever shuts down i’ll literally be depressed. miso chicken with medium spice, and the margarita was so good. add extra noodles so you can have leftovers!

I am pregnant and asked if it would be possible to cook the soft boiled egg until it is fully cooked. The waiter told me no because all the soft boiled eggs are made together. I asked if it would be possible to add my egg to my noodle to boil again longer or heat the egg in the microwave. The waiter told me ok. Then he brought me an undercooked egg x 2 that is not only not fully cooked and was also completely cold and he told me he followed my instructions and boiled the egg for 5 minutes and this egg simply cannot be cooked. It’s impossible to be fully cooked. And the egg at this point after he brought it out was completely cold to touch. I found it exceedingly rude and disrespectful. Not a restaurant I would ever want to visit again.

Ordered a Bento box Rice was not short/medium grain, and really dry, with no flavor. Couldn't eat with chop sticks Chicken katsu was overcooked and dry. Shrimp tempura looks so brown, I don't know how long they haven't changed the oil, super small shrimp as almost none, and the batter was too crunchy and greasy Edamame was also overboiled, and no salt Only salad was tasty I don't want people think that's how Japanese food is

First time here. Great indoor dining atmosphere. Staff Help was outstanding. Great variety of food and drinks to choose from. You get Free Hot or Cold Sake when you dine in. Food was fantastic, fresh, quick, and served hot. You get good food portions for the price, compared to other Ramen restaurants in Lafayette. Love this place, and can't wait to dine here again!!

Google
I wish I had more meat for the price I paid $20. This place is great, food is delicious great service but very disappointing on the amount of meat this is 3oz of meat the rest is noodles and I ordered extra eggs for extra protein. When you dine in you can’t tell because of the broth but since i ordered to go you can really tell theirs not enough meat for the price. Hope it improves because food is delicious just want more value for the money.

Google
Hubby ordered Black Samurai. He said the portion is very generous (actually that is a normal serving size in Japan). The soup contains black garlic and to me it gives an addictive distinct flavor. I ordered Dragon Shoyu, soy sauce based soup, which has clean & refreshing flavor. The chasiu bun reminded me of kakuni manju minus the cucumber. The gyoza was good too. Recommended 👍

Kevin Courville

Google
The place is great, the ramen is really good but where this place shines is its appetizers. The gyoza is the best in lafayette by far. The best part about the place is the waitstaff absolutely awesome people working in this restaurant. Looking forward to a return.

Yelp
Excellent food, great service, cleanly establishment. Will absolutely be back next time I'm in town for work.

Yelp
The food is quite tasty. The quantity is sufficient; I always have food to take home. The price is even better. The service is excellent. They are courteous, knowledgeable, and make thoughtful suggestions. The atmosphere is warm and comforting, not too fancy and not too basic. I've had the harumaki and rice balls for starters, the seafood tsunami and the Casian for the main course, and the sweet rice cakes for dessert. Their hot green tea is served at the right temperature and steeped for the right amount of time. All these descriptive satisfy my palate. I suggest you try them to see if your palate is also satisfied.

Yelp
Went last night for dinner fried rice was excellent, fried chicken bao amazing, my japanese fried noodles were great. However the kitchen didn't put the tare in the ramen and when I brought it up to the waitress, which I was quiet about not trying to make a scene, she merely apologized and walked away. We also had trouble ordering with her as her English wasn't the best. We'll just stick to our spots back home as we were very disappointed.

Yelp
Let's just start by saying it's been a few months since I've eaten here so *maybeee things have changed flavor wise??* (I would love to be told I'm wrong with what I'm about to say). But I went on yelp to see if there are anymore ramen spots have opened here in Lafayette because I want good ramen SO BADLY. Service was great. And it's Wonderful restaurant inside. But man... after having authentic ramen, and generally a LOT of ramen from all over the US. This ramen is just so BLAND and basic. The broth has as much depth as a bowl of hot water with salt and garlic powder mixed in. I wish my hometown had some good ramen, I really do. I would be there WEEKLY easily. But it really was just such a let down. I even got the "super spicy ramen" there was spice, but absolutely no -l o v e- in that soup base. The meat (pork) was bland and tough. The egg was not even marinated properly and tasted like a regular hard boiled egg. I don't know, the taste just makes me so sad. I fear they're so developed at this point that they won't make any changes to the food. But a girl can dream.

Yelp
Gave them 4 vs 5 stars because they only have one vegan ramen option. I took advantage of the free small plate offer from their website and got the spring rolls. You get 3 tasty rolls. For entree I ordered the Japanese Garden ramen, medium heat. I later realized I could've handled the hot heat. Nonetheless, the ramen was very good and filling. Service was attentive and friendly. I would return.

Yelp
I really like the black samurai ramen with black garlic umami bomb !!! And they have a hot ramen challenge for those brave enough to have some fun!

Daniel M.

Yelp
Best ramen I've had outside of California! Get the flaming tonkatsu very flavorful. Also the pork buns are amazing!
google avatar

Yelp
Fast and friendly service and tasty dishes with a wide variety of selections! We had the fried calamari and agedashi tofu for appetizers and the sizzlin gyuniku and chicken katsu curry for entrees. Everything was good and came out quickly. Lots of choices for different ramen bowls as well as non-ramen options. I also recommend the red bean and black sesame mochi cakes for dessert!

Yelp
I stumbled across this place while looking for lunch. I am glad we found it and I've been back again since that first visit! They have the best ramen! I had no idea Lafayette even had ramen. Everything we ordered was delicious. I had the Izumi's Tonkotsu Bowl the first time and the last time I ordered the black samurai. We've had the chi kin karaage and gyoza for appetizers and both were so good. I loved that valvano sauce. They are careful and spcial distancing for covid. All the staff wear masks and the tables are all at least 6 feet apart. They serve your food and drinks in throw away bowls and utensils. It is all very safe. I am sure when I go back to Lafayette I will visit them again.

Yelp
We picked up some free small plate coupons for Izumi while we were at Poke Geaux a few weeks ago and we finally had the chance to put them to use. The small plates we got were very good!!! We had the gyoza, tempura shrimp & chi-kin karaage. The gyoza was very good and nice and crispy. The tempura shrimp was really good and cooke to perfection. The best by far was the chi-kin karaage. It's basically fried chicken with spicy mayo on a steamed bun. The chicken was fantastic and cooked very well. My wife tried a bowl of the miso chi-kin ramen and the broth stole the show! It was really good. I gave the chashu fried rice a try and it was pretty good. I have to admit I was a little disappointed as the pork belly looked like it was supposed to be in large chunks on top of the rice. When I got the rice, the pork belly was finely chopped and integrated into the rice. Overall it was pretty good, but there was a bit too much soy sauce. Either way, we will be back as the ramen and small dishes were excellent!

Yelp
Ramen places are popping up all over the city and I am loving it. We already have the best Cajun cuisine in the world (fight me) and I am really enjoying seeing all the different exotic cuisines making their way into our food scene. Variety is the spice of life, after all. Izumi is one of the newer Japanese places and I could not wait to check it out. I went in and was very impressed by the modern look. Clean lines all around with the obligatory cherry blossom and dragon paintings. I started with the Chashu Pork Bun-absolutely delicious. Two steamed buns with sliced pork belly, scallions, cucumber and their homemade sauce. I just loved this and would order it over and over. I chose a Miso Hot Ramen Bowl which was described as medium hot, but if you like it really spicy like I do ask them to kick it up a notch or two. This ain't the ramen you ate when you were pinching your pennies, ladies and gents. This is packed to the brim with flavorful pork belly and veggies galore in a delicious seasoned broth. We shared the Japanese pudding (vanilla) and that was, just like the rest of the meal, heavenly. So get out of your comfort zone next time you are looking to eat out and head over to Izumi Ramen. You'll be glad you did.

Yelp
Simply Amazing. That's it. That's the review. Anytime a chef can make a dish encompassing the flavors of New Orleans and Japanese culture (and do it exceptionally well) it deserves a 5-star in my book. Well done!
google avatar

Yelp
Solid ramen in the Lafayette area. My go-to's are: FLAMING TONKOTSU - spicy Izumi's signature pork broth, sliced tender pork belly, scallions, nori, seasoned soft boiled egg, wood ear mushroom, corn, bean sprouts, wavy noodles AGEDASHI TOFU - Deep-fried cubed tofu topped with bonito flakes and tossed with umami CHI-KIN KARAAGE - Tender, crispy-fried chicken with homemade volcano sauce If you want your broth spicier, ask for more chili oil. Check @eatinglafayette on Instagram and Facebook for more Lafayette food things!

Yelp
It's so hard to choose something off this menu, but I went with The Casian. The description is so very on point...it is, in fact, a lovely mix of gumbo/ramen. I added bean sprouts. Could easily eat this by the bucket. I ordered it to go so it the broth came separately from the other ingredients, so I was able to add however much I wanted.

Yelp
Quick service, great packaging for takeout! Ramen was decent, and the shrimp in my ramen was soooo good!

Lundin B.

Yelp
Placed a to go order, food was ready within 10 minutes. Very nice for my lunch break! The gyoza is delicious, i thought id get 3 but i ended up with a total of 6! I got the chicken ramen, no bean sprouts. It was good! Very hot and fresh, it did has a slightly too fishy taste for me. kinda like crawfish; which was necessarily bad but unexpected

Yelp
Let me start with WOW! This was my husband and I's first time eating here. He got the Spicy Tonkatsu and I got the Dragon Shoyu Ramen (Medium Spice). We also got an order of Chashu Fried Rice to share. I have eaten many a fried rice in my day, but this was the first time EVER that I ate a fried rice that DID NOT need soy sauce. The chashu meat was browned and melt in your mouth tender. My husband said his ramen was fantastic and the perfect spice. Mine was also delicious and the perfect spice level. My only tiny issues were the water didn't taste the best, but the sodas and sweet tea were perfect. And my chicken in my ramen was closer to the dry side (still totally edible and yummy). Our waitress was beyond accommodating and kind! The restaurant wasn't that crowded and nicely decorated, so it was nice and quiet. We can't wait to come back and eat here again!

Antoine L.

Yelp
The service was once again amazing. They prepared the bowl very quickly and were super nice. The bowl was good, the only reason this bowl lost a star is the broth left something to be desired. Still one of my favorite places and I will be back soon!
google avatar

Yelp
I decided to stop by for lunch on a Tuesday at around 12:15 and was seated immediately. I had my edamame within 3 minutes of sitting down and my ramen bowl within 8 minutes of sitting down. The edamame was well seasoned with a cajun style seasoning and came out steaming hot still. I ordered the Miso Spicy ramen bowl which also came out steaming hot, smelling great. Overall, I was a huge fan of the miso bowl, especially the bold flavor of the broth and spice level. When I order a spicy dish, I expect it to be spicy and Izumi nailed it! My only two complaints with the ramen bowl was the broth seemed slightly under salted but I guess salt can always be added. The other complaint is that the pork belly was slightly chewy, not as tender as I was expecting (but was still completely edible!). Certainly worth a try, I will be back for sure. I would recommend giving it a shot at lunch if you need a good lunch joint to be in and out within an hour.

Yelp
First ramen experience did not disappoint. Can't say we know enough about ramen to compare, but we left more than satisfied.
google avatar

Victoria N.

Yelp
Pros: Super cute interior, lots of tables, food came out super quick, affordable, large portions, and friendly service. Best of all, they give 3 large pieces of meat (most places only give 2). Cons: all the char siu pork were chewy and did not melt in your mouth like most ramen places. The eggs were not soft boiled, more on the hard boiled side. Black samurai: (7/10) broth was not super salty which I liked. The broth did not seem to weight me down. Good over all Hot tonkotsu: 7/10 Hot miso: 7/10

Yelp
I was definitely supposed to get ramen here but I was WORRIED that I couldn't get a nice photo of carryout ramen. So this is based on the non-ramen stuff I had. I had shrimp fried rice.... something like fried rice can be really basic and boring but there is something about theirs that made it a satisfying main dish instead of the usual side dish. Like they take the time to let the soy sauce cook into the rice? Something. It's just good. The shrimp were big and succulent. I also tried a chicken Karaage bun with the volcano sauce....I really love the volcano sauce. The buns were okay, def not a great chicken to bun ratio. I also had gyoza and that was yummy. I love how beautifully packaged everything was for carryout. It was easy to order ahead and pick up the order. Everything was fast and social distancing compliant ;)

Yelp
I really enjoyed the experience at this restaurant. The ramen is tasty and the serving sizes are generous. If you have a hankering for ramen give this place a try. You'll like it.

Yelp
Seldom do the new restaurants in Lafayette measure up to the hype. This place breaks that rule. Izumi ramen has a gorgeous interior aesthetic, clean and welcoming. The staff is incredibly sweet and professional, and their recommendations are spot-on. I wanted something very umami and rich, and their recommendation of the Black Samurai bowl was sheer perfection. We got pork buns as a starter and could not have asked for a better meal. The broth was rich and garlicky, the noodles just firm, and the mushroom and pork tasted amazing together. THE PORK. The pork was melt-in-your-mouth tender and savory, it was an experience. Such a good experience that I went back 2 hours later to get some for my husband's dinner. We love you, Izumi Ramen!

Christy C.

Yelp
Great food!! Great service!! We stop almost every time we're in Lafayette. They have both hibachi and ramen so there is something for everyone to eat even your pickiest person.
google avatar

Nick M.

Yelp
This place was ok. Seems like a whole lot of hoopla over a brick of ramen noodles. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. Take your $15 with tip and go buy a case of ramen at the grocery store. Sprinkle some stuff in it, and you'll still have 5 bucks left. I'm glad I tried it, but I won't be going back.
google avatar

Corey M.

Yelp
Excellent! Fresh! Very good service! Very food portions! The food is always served at the proper temperature. Worth stopping by! Enough said.
google avatar

Levi A.

Yelp
I've had pretty much everything on the menu and nothing makes me as happy as the regular old pork bone original flavor ramen. I live two hours away so it became a ritual to stop by everytime i was in town.
google avatar

Yelp
I've had their chicken ramen several times...great service and the food quality was great each time I went.

Yelp
This was such an enjoyable experience for me and my 9 year old! The food was great. Not the best for picky uoung eaters.

Yelp
Finally ramen bar in Lafayette , LA. Ordered appetizer for fried rice ball - no taste , have to dip in yuzu sauce to taste . Izumi tonkotsu ramen soup was watery and tasted nothing , no flavors . I am from Japan and tasted plenty enough ramen in my life . This is ok for Lafayette LA ramen . But I won't go back again.
google avatar

Sharrla R.

Yelp
The hubby and I tried this place because it had great reviews... They weren't wrong, I ordered the Seafood Tsunami & hubby ordered the Chicken Miso... I loved the seafood & the fact the chili sauce was brought on the side so I could control the spice. Hubby liked his miso, but didn't care for the bamboo shoots, that was his personal opinion I thought they weren't bad. We also had the Japanese Fried Rice, yummy... So I recommend going to this place, it's worth a try.
google avatar

Jennifer K.

Yelp
I have ordered here a handful of times. First time was a day or so after opening and then a few more times a while after. All the times that I ordered, the food was consistent. Their takoyaki is VERY tasty and fresh. Different parts of Japan serve their takoyaki with different textures. Izumi serves it more of the Osaka style where the center is warm and gooey and not 100% cooked (don't worry the batter is okay to eat like this.) For ramen, I have had the black samurai and the dragon shoyu. Both were tasty and the the pork chashu as well as tenderloin were cooked perfectly. The seasoning was nice and my eggs were cooked perfectly soft. Now, why do I have a 4 star review you might wonder? Well . . it is because of the noodles. The noodle chewiness was nice but they were knotted in a ball stuck together and would break apart easily when trying to separate as if not having any elasticity. I would like to note that I did order the food to go each time I have had it and I understand that noodles stick when they sit for a period of time. What perplexes me is that they break apart easily. I tried letting them sit a bit before trying to separate them in the broth the last time I ordered and it was still a bit tough. Overall I would recommend this restaurant to a friend but I would highly suggest dining in.

Yelp
This is BEST Ramen place in Lafayette! I'm from San Diego and this place reminds me of having it there!!! I got the flaming Tonkotsu!! And it was delicious from the noddles to the broth!! I recommend this place!! Definitely coming back to try a different flavor!! Great job on bringing it to Lafayette!!!

Sahana P.

Yelp
Delicious Ramen! They did have a vegetarian/ vegan option, the Japanese Garden Ramen, which I appreciated. I recommend adding the black garlic oil, but the broth itself was delicious. The noodles were zucchini noodles and the texture was perfect. Will definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Victoria D.

Yelp
I came here on a whim after checking out yelp and seeing that it's a pretty new business. I tried the shoyu ramen, agedashi tofu, and takoyaki. The ramen was good and light tasting! The tofu was hot and crisp. I wasn't really into the takoyaki since it was a little too sweet tasting for me. Service was friendly and they weren't too busy on a Saturday afternoon. I'd totally come back to try the other ramens they offer.
google avatar

Halezyeah ..

Yelp
Decent ramen. I like the IZUMI'S TONKOTSU or BLACK SAMURAI. The flavor is just lacking in some ways.
google avatar

Michelle G.

Yelp
I really like this place. I went alone and sat at the bar. They have good lunch deals. The ramen is unbelievable. I got a Cajun one with seafood and corn and a bunch of stuff in it and it was like eating a Cajun bisque/ ramen mashup. Cool Af. Wish I had a pic to share. Go check it out for yourself. The drinks are good too.
google avatar

MyLinh H.

Yelp
We went for lunch and the ramen was good! Also, if you order a ramen then you get a complimentary appetizer (You can choose between gyoza, edamame and veggie spring rolls). The servers did a great job working together and lunch was very quick.
google avatar

Yelp
By far the best ramen in Lafayette. I debated between 3 or 4 stars but some things just missed the mark. Gyoza: 3/5 it was deep fried and not pan fried so the dumpling casing was super thick and heavier than what I'm looking for with gyoza. The filling was good though and it was fried well I just wasn't expecting it. Green tea: it's my my fault for not asking but it was brewed from a tea bag and not fresh tea leaves. Spicy tonkotsu: 3.5/5 this score is somewhat unfair bc I normally eat ramen in Houston and New York. Their broth however is by far the BEST I've had between Lafayette and New Orleans. It's also the only place I'd return to that I've tried in Louisiana. The tonkotsu was a bit to salty for me but it did have some great flavor. It did taste like they add butter to finish off their broth which isn't my preference but there was a nice richness to it. I got level 3 hot (out of 4)which wasn't really that spicy but that can be easily fixed. The noodles do taste and have the texture of prepackaged noodles but aren't bad. The egg was cooked well so the yolk was nice and creamy. Lots of toppings in their basic ramen bowls so you're definitely getting your money's worth. Service was quick and friendly and they were busy during lunch hour!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious!!!!!!! Love love this ramen. The pork is delicious. Broth is amazing. Love the spices. And the vegetables!! Yum!! I recommend the Flaming Tonkontsu. Can't wait to go back!!

Yelp
Ramen was good. Only issue had was the service. came here late at night an hour before it closed and felt like was getting rushed by the waiter. the place was pretty emty other then for another couple leaving just as we came in. The waiter gave us a check barely half into our food and said no rush. then asked us if we wanted dessert at the end which was weird since she already put out the check. Not coming back.
google avatar

Yelp
First, we love ramen! It's one of our staple foods. We've tried every ramen place in the city and this one is by far the absolute best! It compares to some of the most authentic places I've been to in NYC. (Never been overseas so that's all I can compare it to.) Each time we've gone, the ramen is perfect and the flavor makes our tastebuds sing. The staff is friendly, quick, and overall helpful with suggestions. They are attentive, but not so attentive they they are consistently interrupting conversation. I always see the owner (I think) there which makes me feel like the establishment is well run. I'm not sure why that's impressive to me but it is... makes me feel like they are really invested in the business and customers.
google avatar

Kiley F.

Yelp
The food is literally amazing! If you're wanting to try ramen- here's the place to do it! It's so good. The flavors are top notch. Today my sister and I DoorDashed from here and I tried the beef fried rice and it was literally the best fried rice I've ever had! We eat here at least once a month. Dining in is wonderful- the staff is nice and the food is always consistent and delicious!
google avatar

Courtney B.

Yelp
I've ordered Izumi through a delivery app multiple times and have been to the restaurant twice now and it's safe to say I am a fan! I usually order the rice balls and the Japanese Garden ramen. I get my bowl medium spice because I'm just not sure how flavorful the broth would be without any spice. Everyone that works here is friendly and they are also very fast. The two times I've gone, it hasn't been extremely busy so I sat right away and they get your food out fast. I've tried other ramen places around town and this has been my favorite. Five stars!
google avatar

Elisha M.

Yelp
My first time eating ramen and all i can say is we are hooked. The food was amazing the server did an awesome job at suggestions. The serve was ok but our server wasn't very friendly but he served us great service. Can't wait to go when I'm in the area again.

Sabra B.

Yelp
Cute place, great prices. The udon was solid- nothing special. The pork bao was pretty tasty but a small portion of sharing. They have some really good weekly specials like 5$ fried rice. The appetizers have a nice variety great stop for lunch!

Rebekah C.

Yelp
Delicious ramen and normally pretty solid service. Except tonight. We were seated and many wait staff passed us by until one finally asked if we had been helped. After that we were greeted by another server and our order was taken. Our food was brought and our sever never came back. No drink refills or checking on us. Until we waved down another server to bring our check.
