I think this place is a good deal if dormitories are available. The common area and kitchen are certainly nice. You have to do groceries in Hongu, though (a 1-hour hike or short bus drive away).
As for single rooms, paying more than 10,000 yen without dinner and without bento simply isn't worth it. The hot springs inside the property were lukewarm at best. It's better to use the town's public bath if you don't have tattoos.
The room was good, but the duvet was short for a 180 cm person; either my feet or shoulders were exposed.
There was rice porridge (plain boiled rice with pickles) in the morning, and free tea and coffee were available all the time. There was also a donation box near the porridge!
All in all, this place is a far cry from traditional trail hospitality, except for the nice room.
