Ordered orange pendant earrings for my wife on our wedding weekend and they turned out fantastic! UPS caused some shipping issues, but the customer support at the store were so incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to help me get the package. My wife loves the earrings and can't stop wearing them--great experience all around.

Found this little gem of a store just walking around playing tourist. The window displays brought us in about 20 minutes before closing and the awesome attitude of the two ladies working there made us stay and shop. We picked out some awesome pieces quickly and made our purchases before closing but we were never rushed or made unwelcome and that was a nice change in experience for us. Thank you ladies! Everything fits wonderfully and my mother in law loves the earrings!

Popped into J.Mode last week in Salem, MA and had no idea that we were in for a Treat!! Two lovely women were there to help me and my two daughters and we had such a grand time. Had no idea that it was such a great store with great people. Thank you J.Mode so much for the wonderful, fun experience! We loved all of our purchases and we will be back! I think they put a "SPELL" on us. We love them!

The clothes in the shop are lovely and the woman that helped us was even lovelier! We had a nice conversation with her and she suggested her store be our 'safe spot', in case anyone in our party got lost, which we thought was so incredibly sweet! Would definitely visit this cute little boutique on our next trip to Salem!

I was visiting from Boston for the day and purchased a piece of jewelry at this store. My experience was positive from start to finish. The manager was warm, professional and efficient in her communication with me. I would go again and would recommend this place!

J Mode is the best boutique in Salem... the staff are so helpful. I have been shopping here for over 10 years. And I hope to be shopping here for the next years. The clothes are beautiful, and the fabrics are stunning.

Below 0 review! The employees there are ignorant and they harassed my mother. They ran and chased my handicapped mother and accused her of stealing in front of everyone!!!!when we didn’t even walk in to the store!!! She made my mother show her everything in the baby carriage and then realized then we didn’t steal a thing!!!! And how could we since we never walked into the store!!! And they couldn’t mis indenitify us when we are little people! If that’s not called harassment then what is!!!! we shop at Nordstrom we don’t need their clothes!!!

Love this store! Amazing selection of beautiful clothes you can't find anywhere else. Outstanding customer service. If I am looking for something for a special occasion or just for something fun this is my go-to-store.

Let me get this straight...a sweater made in China for $450? I think not. It's not whether I can afford it or not--it's the markup. The sweater I saw should be $90 MAX. The clothes are attractive, but the prices are ridiculous.

Excellent shopping experience, great customer service and left with exactly the separates I need to mix and match for an interview.

J. Mode is a great clothing boutique in Salem. I agree with Chris M. - nothing super high fashion, but very nice products, including one of the softest shirts I have ever owned. They carry Trina Turk and 3 Dot, two of my favorite lines. Jewelry is fun and reasonably priced and I like the purses. The staff, especially the owner, are friendly and knowledgeable, and want to help in any way possible. I also think a nice clothing store is a great addition to downtown Salem, as the only recent clothing stores have been a little on the old-fashioned side.

I think that the reviews below me are outrageous. I've been to JMode several times, and received nothing less than amazing service. The sales people actually cared about what I needed and what I felt comfortable in versus forcing me to buy stuff. They were also very nice and friendly. I'm so glad that there is finally a boutique like this one locally so that I don't have to go into Boston!! If you're going to complain about the prices, then go somewhere else because the products that they supply are good quality and aren't "chinsy," they will last you a long time and are worth the price. The prices are reasonable, don't let the other reviews fool you!!

Stumbled upon this shop, and it's super cute inside. Definitely a great variety of nice (Vince, Equipment, etc.) and a few less expensive brands (that i'm unfamiliar with.) Staff was really nice. Definitely recommend if you like higher-end shopping.

Update: I was dismayed today to find that my original review from three months ago (see below) had been deleted from the J. Mode page, leaving only the one glowing 5-star review.I don't know if the shop's owner had any influence on this, but if Yelp wants to be objective and allow people to honestly relay their experiences, they shouldn't censor negative reviews. So I'm reposting my original review. Let's see if it disappears again. When J. Mode first opened, I was happy to see a stylish clothing boutique come to Salem. Upon shopping there, however, I discovered it's a bit overpriced - Boston prices in Salem. But the prices aren't why I gave J. Mode one star. I gave it one star because of the attitude of the sales associates. When my friend and I were browsing through the clothes racks, my friend noticed that the two young women behind the counter would look at her and laugh, then stop when she looked at them. When my friend looked away, they started laughing again. When my friend again turned to look at the sales associates, one of them said "Sorry," as if to apologize for laughing. Now my friend is a plus-sized woman, and the two associates were skinny. My friend was so disgusted at the fact that the sales associates were laughing at a customer that she walked out of the store. I followed her out the door, and neither one of us has been back since.

Lovely store that I can no longer shop at. Please don't sell fur. Fur from China!!??? Even worse.

I love J. Mode and the sales staff have been nothing but helpful and nice to me. They always help me pick out things that I wouldn't choose for myself, but end up being my favorite pieces! A beautiful selection in a gorgeous store with very intuitive, non-pushy sales help. Just another reason to shop in Salem on top of so many other great boutiques! So much better getting personal service where they remember you and smile versus the horrible service at the mall!

TERRIBLE place. J Mode boutique deserves a 0 star but yelp doesn't give me that option. Unless you are a Caucasian rich looking woman, don't even bother to put a foot on the door. The owner is classist, racist and will make sure you feel ignored and neglected, so you can walk out the door. I was mistreated, completely ignored and given an attitude when I inquired about anything in the store. Other ladies were clearly treated very differently and right in-front of my eyes. I asked for a ring size on the Betty Carre collection and I was told they didn't have any sizes available besides the ones on display. After I walked out of the store I asked my friend to call and ask if there were any more of the Betty Carre rings available besides the ones on display, and the woman who answered the phone said: "Yes we have different sizes, you are welcome to come in". It is sad and disappointing that in such an inclusive, diverse and welcoming city as Salem; there are business with this kind of low level of ethics. I graduated from Salem State, worked for the city, I'm a home owner and a business owner who resides in Salem. I will not patronize this place and I will make sure everyone I know will bring their business to other great boutiques; like Curtsy.

The owner is lovely and very helpful at finding flattering, beautiful pieces. The sales are great, too (just got a great DVF dress for 50% off!). I didn't have a lot of time to look around but will definitely be back. Wonderful store with well-chosen merchandise.

I have been in J. Mode twice, once last fall when I was greeted by two sales associates. I started to talk to one of them and before I knew it I was hearing her life story...very messy divorce, why she was telling me I am not sure but I found it very personal. The other sales associate quickly went to the aid of another customer and was very welcoming and lovely. I left the store without even looking at the merchandise. I went in last week, the same lady was there, talking about the same stuff with her friend (I think). I did get a good look at the clothing, very pretty, a little old, not very contemporary! Another sales associate came from the back and immediately approached me, I must've given off a bad vibe, she was rather rude. I was sharing the story with a few friends tonight who do shop there...they said they knew who I was talking about, and that the woman who came out from the back was the owner...I was shocked... The clothes are very pricey, the customer service does not warrant the prices, If I want to spend my money on something special it will not be at J.Mode. I am truly surprised they got the best of northshore.... There are many boutiques on the north shore to choose from. I
