I Love this place. Very modern, I never smelled smoke, staff was incredibly helpful and kind. We ate at the café in the morning for breakfast and we were treated like high rollers! Very reasonable prices. Coffee delicious. The hostess had a huge smile and very attentive and Greg, our waiter was the perfect waiter. I look forward to staying again. Im also looking forward to see what the owners are going to do! So very exciting!

This is my first time staying at this hotel. I had two rooms and neither one were decent. The first room they put me in the pillows in the blankets were on the floor, so then I got switched to another room and the tub didn’t drain. I had driven from hiking Yosemite and all I wanted was a decent shower and a good night sleep and I didn’t get either one. Housekeeping came in my room at 9 AM. When I went downstairs to check out I asked the lady behind the desk if she had time to listen to my experience. She listened and then she said the best she can do is take off the $30 resort fee.

The worst hotel experience despite their efforts of remodeling. We have stayed at hotels with casinos and smoking is everywhere but most hotels especially when they know most guest will have to travel with kids do their best to make sure common areas where kids and family walk through have less smoke. Their ventilation is better to reduce as much smoke circulating. This hotel, check-in is in the center of their casino, so just waiting around we all are breathing the smoke and no ventilation whatsoever. Room space was decent but the king bed looks like a queen. Bathroom lack cleanliness. They provided a small face bar soap with no dish to put it on and I assume we can use it to wash our hands so we did. The shower, had mold on the shelf where we would put our own essentials. Thank goodness this was a first and last stay for us. It was an unplanned trip for a basketball tournament memorial weekend. Rate was cheap but sometimes that’s what you pay for.

We just got married and wanted to stay the night in Downtown Reno. The skyline sweet was very nice and very affordable with great views of downtown. We haven’t be inside Since it was the Sands, It’s a very clean And modern casino floor With a good selection of games. It’s also very easy and fast to get a players card. Also all the staff was very nice and the food was good. We definitely recommend the J’s-resort for a fun family friendly place in a great Location.

Man, I remember the Sands – really well, in fact. J Resort? This place has taken a major step up. I was dubious about the 'resort' in the name, especially after spending so much time in Vegas, but this place is legit. The service was solid, always pleasant with a smile and a thanks. Rooms are nice, clearly renovated. And the location? Always amazing, so no change there. J Resort absolutely exceeded my expectations 💯

Google
Very nice rooms! I'm really enjoyed my stay. In the morning the casino seemed a little empty but I ended up winning $1,400 on two different games. Pretty neat place but watch out for the housekeeping. Was rushed out of the room and personal items got left as well as money that unfortunately didn't get returned

We were staying on Virginia Street and looking for a buffet we could walk to. The J resort was less than half a mile away and has all-you-can-eat crab every night. They also offer different theme night menus depending on the day of the week. We went on a Saturday night around 5 p.m. There was no line to get in, the price was $38.95 pp (without a player's card), and there were meal options for everyone; including the vegans in our party. Our "server" was Hachib and he went above and beyond attending to our party and our table. He made sure our drinks were full, bar drinks correct, made recommendations for the different stations, offered condiments that weren't on the table, and made sure the dishes were cleared when we were ready to move on to the next course. This was a great buffet experience and we will definitely eat there again.

Google
First time trying their buffet and tonight was Shrimp boil. Several good options - especially because they have snow crab every night. They are served cold but offered to warm them if I wanted.||They had alcoholic beverages and nightly drink specials - buckets of beer and tonight we had a pitcher of Margarita.||I forgot to take pictures of their dessert counter; but took pictures of my choices.||They had a lot of staff to assist and Zach was good.||Manager walked around checking on tables to ensure everything was going well. They got pretty busy.||I definitely wanna try their Monday buffet take on Hawaiian local cuisine. Check their website for the different nightly buffet themes.

Yelp

Yelp
A great stay in the refurbished Sands. Rooms were spacious and clean. Couldn't get the Chromecast to work on the TV, finally called the front desk and found out it was disabled. I would definitely stay here again, the only reason for the Four Star review was that the staff didn't know where anything was. Like the gym, the pool (which is off site apparently). Three of us ate at J Paul's. Most of the food was good, the Linguini got sent back , it had five tiny manilla clams in it. Really! Side of spaghetti was way over cooked, in no way al dente. The other items we ordered like the ribeye and foie gras were very good. My wife's salad was incredibly small for the price, but tasted good. The waiter made good on the pasta dishes, but at that price let's do it right the first time. Don't bother with the the chocolate After-Dinner Cigar dessert. You'll get immediate diabetes. Way too sweet, just the taste of sugar. The deconstructed Tiramisu was lame. They need to get rid of both those desserts and stick with traditional Italian sweets. With the liquor, the bill came to $500. Was it worth it? Not really.

Yelp
Overall a decent casino hotel and good value for money. I stayed here twice, a couple of nights each, in different towers. There wasn't anything bad about this hotel. I gave 3 stars mainly because it was a lot of little things adding up. For example, the choice of lobby and hallway carpets made it harder to move my roller luggage. Anyway, all of the issues I'm about to discuss were minor, and I would likely stay here again for the right price. Room: The light near the door didn't work. That said, the A/C worked well, the beds were comfortable, and the towels were fluffy. The room has a modern design and is spacious. Comes with desk. Electrical outlets in convenient places. All my rooms came with a small frig. Service: When I requested a refresh of my towels, I got back to my hotel room later to see a stack of towels in the hallway on the floor against my door. I didn't use the bottom-most towel because it had been on the floor. Also, the first set of towels that the room came with did not have a shower mat (but the delivered set did). Check in/Check out: I got emails about checking in without talking to a desk clerk, but the actual kiosks at reception seem to be covered over and unavailable? Not sure what's going on there. Bathroom: Glass shower doors were misaligned/overlapped by a quarter inch and wouldn't close properly. In addition, I ran out of toilet paper and there was no extra roll already placed in the bathroom. Other than that, a clean and spacious bathroom with modern decor. They were understaffed at Hanna's Table (the main diner/restaurant), which meant 5+ minutes just to get seated despite it being 10% full. Service and kitchen were slow. Fitness center is small and located on 16th Floor of the Aspen Tower. No signage directing you. Some basic equipment. Gambling: Mostly slots and minimal table games. There's a modest Sports Book section. A couple of bars in the casino area.

Yelp
Last time I stayed on this property was over 20 years ago back when it was The Sands Hotel and Casino. Back then it was $29 a night without any resort fees. Fast forward to today, the property is now the J Resort. Now the resort fees alone is over $30 a day. The rate for each night varies depending on events in Reno as well as if it's a weekday or weekend. Rooms: the rooms are large. The WiFi works well most of the time. The air conditioning works but is very loud, so if you are a light sleeper it will be a problem. The shower and bathrooms are large, clean, and work well. The bed is soft, pillows a little too hard for my liking. Large LCD tvs in the room with basic cable channels. Not much to complain about. Overall a decent place to sleep. The casino on the ground floor has tons of slot machines. A few tables to play at. Three places to eat, an Italian Steakhouse, Hannah's Cafe, as well as a dinner buffet called The Buffet. Only one I tried was The Buffet and I thought it was decent. The employees at the buffet were extremely helpful and friendly. There is a ton of self parking available. I overheard people talking that the security at this property harassed quite a few people based on their attire etc but of course I didn't experience that myself. Would I stay again? Probably. Not a bad place to stay for the price. Would I stay again? Yes.

Yelp
This Casino was once upon a time the Sand's. I hadn't been here since it changed hands. The casino floor is large with a variety of slots, poker slots, and gaming tables. They have a variety of promotions to get gamblers into the casino. In fact, Gold Dust West here in Reno and Carson City are combined with this casino. Staff is friendly and there is an abundance of cocktail waitstaff. The Casino is clean. I especially like the original Modern from the '30s and 40's, Abstract Expressionism from the '50s and 60's, Pop Art from the '70s and 80's, along with American West art, including contemporary and emerging artists. All of the artists shown have works in major collections. Just the art alone should make it on the to-visit list of anyone visiting the Reno area. They have three restaurants a small coffee kiosk and offer live entertainment with a summer concert series that is located outside.

Yelp
The J Resort, I think, used to be the sands. Some of the things that I appreciate about this hotel and the parking is free and the pool seems to be open later than a lot of others in Vegas. I keep trying to remind myself that we know the biggest city there is and that it is trying to be Las Vegas, it will definitely fall short. Upon, I was pretty impressed with the room. A lot of the fixtures and things were brand new and modern. Unfortunately, there is a pretty large, unsightly stain in our shower. I guess nobody could get rid of. I don't know what it is. A few times now I have called to ask the staff and technicians and housekeeping to come and try and eliminate that stain. It is not only unsightly, I don't know what it is from and I don't need my family to be exposed to anything disgusting. No matter how many times I've called and asked nobody has been able to get rid of it or make it any better. So there has been no offer to change our room. Yesterday we went to the pool. Unfortunately, because of the winds, I guess there were not a lot of people there and several chairs and things have been overturned. The thing that I did not like at all is that the swimming pool area is not supervised by anybody. I'm not talking about having a lifeguard present, but I am talking about having anybody there to communicate with the main hotel about the availability of clean towels , a clean restroom, and other necessities like that. I had to call three times yesterday to request the towels be replenished and the old disgusting used ones that had been left there be removed. There were huge mounds of used towels. Some of them, we had to pull out of the hot tub and pool because they've flown in there. They were just there, soaking up water. Another thing that the property manager needs to be sure is that their phone that is located at the pool in working condition. I tried using that phone several times yesterday to try and contact the hotel or main desk, somebody. The phone nearest the pool deck apparently is out of order. It does not work at all. If there is an emergency and someone doesn't have a cell phone on them or whatever, they could end up being in very big trouble That is not safe.

Yelp
I had to deduct points from this hotel due to cleanliness issues. Upon arrival, I noticed dried urine and pubic hair on the toilet, which was extremely off-putting. Although the cleaning staff addressed the issue promptly, I remained disgusted. Additionally, I witnessed a couple of altercations between security and guests, which was concerning. On a positive note, the woman who checked us in was very nice, and the hotel's location is excellent, within walking distance to the main attractions in Reno.

Joyce T.

Yelp
I am so happy for this amped up downtown gambling property! It is is still very new and has some kinks to iron out and complete, but overall, a clean and emerging property. There are a couple of restaurants at my moment. My hotel room was clean but needed some adjustments. Maintenance was able to adjust all of them. I enjoyed seeing the trains roll by. The air conditioning was soothing, too. Gambling was decent, too. A couple of good bars with bars that have beer taps. Lots of parking. Front, back and tower parking. Awaiting the buffet and the pool opening.

Yelp
J Resort was a nice experience. It's not often you stay in a hotel in your own town, but we were nicely surprised with the quality of the rooms and the check in staff. We were on the 6th floor and were concerned that it might be kind of noisy (it was during street vibrations), but were happily surprised that it was quiet and very comfortable. The rooms are nice a modern. The one thing I thought was strange was the shower. It was impossible to turn on the shower without getting completely wet. Kind of a weird design flaw. I would totally recommend this to friends needing a place to stay in downtown Reno. Just don't go for the pool (which is a shabby little 1960s pool).

Yelp
2.2.24: Stayed the night here for the first time and check-in was easy and smooth. As I was about to walk away, the reservations agent handed me a coupon for a complimentary glass of wine and cheese plate so that was very nice of her. It was a nice snack after a long day. We were in the Birch Tower and the room was really nice with modern colors and a pretty view. One of the first things I look at when staying in a hotel is how well the drain works in the shower/tub. Nothing's worse than standing in ankle deep water while trying to shower. I'm happy to report our room had excellent drainage. We ate at the casino restaurant, Hanna's Table. Not only was our food good, but the service was excellent for being late evening. Everyone was really friendly and chatty and it was much needed after the day we had. Check out my review for Hanna's on their Yelp page. Overall, J Resort did a great job re-inventing the old Sands Casino and I would stay here again.

Sarah N.

Yelp
Here is a revised version of your review: I recently had an exceptional experience that compelled me to update my review and add an additional star. Upon encountering a safety concern in my room, I promptly approached the front desk to inquire about changing rooms. Grace, who I now affectionately refer to as "Amazing Grace," assisted me. Without hesitation, she swiftly checked me into a new room within the same tower for my convenience, sparing me the inconvenience of relocating to a different building. Her exceptional customer service and unwavering support nearly brought me to tears. Despite the resort being fully booked, Grace went above and beyond to accommodate my request, exceeding my expectations. I am truly grateful for her understanding and responsiveness to my concerns. Thank you so much, Grace, I can now rest easy.

Mark S.

Yelp
Decided to stay here for a night while our daughter had a party for her birthday at our house. Pleasantly surprised by how nice the J Resort was. We had no expectations so she we checked in the person at the desk was really friendly and helpful. Check-in was a breeze. The whole building has undergone a full redo from its previous life as The Sands. The room was way better than expected. Clean, spacious, and the shower was rather large. My only real problem was the restaurant, Hanna's Table. But that is a separate review. The prices, even though it was during Street Vibrations, were the most reasonable in town. Thanks for not gouging.

Yelp
It was alright the rooms where clean but the family suete was nice but the pull out bed was ghetto and not comfortable

Kelly H.

Yelp
Just ate at Hannah's Table. The meatloaf is THE BEST. It's even better than mine. If you want the best meatloaf and great service, you have to go to the J resort.

Ian A.

Yelp
I'm sure it's a nice hotel but the deceptive billing practices are unethical. The $47 special looked perfect when I got off a plane with a head cold, until I hit submit and got charged $132. I called within 3 minutes and said I wanted to reverse the charge, and was told the fees and no cancellation policy was clear "in a dropdown" - which is difficult to spot when you're busy being congratulated for getting a great rate. I will NEVER make the mistake of booking at the J or any of its associated properties again and will not be staying there. Even the so called customer service made the aggressive pitch that they could give me a small discount or I could cancel and get nothing.

Loretta W.

Yelp
we went to the buffet for Christmas dinner, the worst buffet I've ever had, I will never go in that place again. It was worse than when it was Sands. No-one in our party thought it was good.

Devry A.

Yelp
We stayed one night on a road trip. We booked through CheapTickets and got a good rate. They do charge a resort fee onsite but parking is free. There is a large casino on the ground floor but we couldn't hear anything in the room. The room was clean and we did order room service which was very good. We stayed in the aspen tower. Staff that we encountered were all very nice.

Angela W.

Yelp
This report is amazing! The customer service, the hospitality, the cleanliness of the casino and how much they keep out those who are not there not participating or staying at the resort. It wasn't overly busy and their promotions are very generous. Bartenders are pleasant, and the serving staff were kind. The rooms were gorgeous. Similar to Peppermill, it's like a hidden gem with many amenities. We've already booked our next visit. Hope they keep this type of Atmosphere always!

Cathy J.

Yelp
Hanna's restaurant at the jResorts burnt meat loaf , water downed gross Mashed potatoes $$$$ no other restaurant available The first room I had the shower just dripped couldn't even get a good rinse .. they were good enough to supply another room ,

Andy N.

Yelp
I think the J Resort deserves a little more love right now than it's getting. I had a pretty decent stay this last time as they were continuing to remodel itself, so it's a construction site for sure. However, our room experience was pretty good all things considered. Note: due to construction, it's not really a 'resort' yet, with very little amenities inside the actual casino and hotel. I didn't mind this as this was serving purely as a place to crash for the night and work from. We stayed inside the Aspen Tower on the 15th floor and our room was clean and spacious. We had a small sink area with a large fridge and microwave, which was very convenient. Beds were firm although they only provided a thin comforter, so we ended up grabbing the other bed's blanket for additional warmth. The bathroom was fantastic with a shower door although the water pressure and temperature could've been kicked up a bit. What sets the J Resort back a bit is their inconsistency with staff. A few gave me misleading information about their Fitness Center (which is a small one, but is indeed open and located on the 16th floor) and whether it existed, and during our stay, a security alarm was triggered due to the construction but nobody was evacuating except for us... I think they need to up their emergency protocol in case something major actually happens in the future. For it's current price, I think the resort is fine and would be a good place to stay again in the future.

Yelp
Upon purchasing the Sands Regency hotel-casino in 2017, Owner Jacobs Entertainment has rebranded the property as J Resort. With several phases of renovations planned, its first phase (now complete) includes a remodeled casino floor (there is a high-limit area, a non-smoking area, a beautiful lobby area for hotel guests), a new casual restaurant called Hanna's table, a high-end restaurant called J Pauls' Italian Steakhouse, a snack and beverage area called Hanna's Express, a lounge area called Afterglow Lounge, a new year-round accessible pool area, and renovated hotel rooms. There were still remnants of the Sands Regency on the casino floor in March 2023 with its casino chips, rewards card, and roulette table. When we visited in May, they were still renovating the main casino floor's ceiling but there were no more signs of Sands Regency casino chips, rewards card, and gaming tables. With our recent visit in June, the J Resort looks and feels great (clean, sleek, and modern). While I'm sad at losing another legendary casino in Reno, I am excited about the new owners' vision for downtown Reno. I always liked the small casino: the gaming tables always had a friendly feel and The Copa Restaurant had a classic Las Vegas feel with good food. So far, we have been enjoying the renovations at J Resort - both on the casino floor and at their buffet/restaurant.

Nathan W.

Yelp
This is a Resort right? I can't get coffee until 7 am. Their cafe doesn't open till 7 am. And...if the place is open 24 hours why can't I get a decent cup of coffee before 7 am without leaving the hotel into 30 deg weather? Unacceptable

Amy O.

Yelp
6/17/2023 In the area and decided to see the newest addition to the casinos.. When they announced the new name of the "J Resort" people were surprised .. We visit downtown area, mostly for the festivals.. Inside it's very spacious.. The restrooms are really nice and big. I'd be curious to see how the rooms are. It's great to see the steady volume of guests.. They even have the valet open! Can't wait to see the second phase of construction.. !

Vicky B.

Yelp
Had a staycation and decided to stay at J's resort. This used to be the old Sands Regency. Jacob's entertainment has done a great job with the reservations. The room still smelled of fresh wood and paint. The faucet knows were weird as they both turned inward to turn on. They have very hot water, which was nice. If I stay there again, I will get a room with a balcony as it would be nice to sit outside but still be in your room.

Tera C.

Yelp
Empty! Food is mediocre at best but high prices! Especially for a Casino. Sorry Reno. Better for you to go somewhere else. Anywhere else.

Linda H.

Yelp
I will give J Resort the benefit of the doubt and call it a "Work in Progress" with the anticipation that the end result will be a clean, crisp, hotel and casino with a new look and feel from it's predecessor, The Sands. Brand new paint, carpet, interior design, and slot machines. Friendly staff, new and old. Hopefully they can keep it up over the long term and prevent it from overtake of "rift raft". Busy foot traffic on our Reno Riverfest weekend. Looks like another opportunity coming up for a steakhouse. Looking forward to visiting and viewing the end result!

Kingston W.

Yelp
"This property isn't a dump anymore"--he said jokingly. I last stayed at this property when it was the Sands Regency. I learned that the property has since rebranded as "The J Resort". The property is undergoing a multi phased renovation; but, it opened March 7, 2023 after a portion of the first phase was completed. (Phase One is scheduled for completion by the end of June 2023.) Here are some notes and impressions: The surface parking lot immediately "in front" and "in back" of the hotel is still fenced off. It is being used as a work and staging area, in support of the renovations taking place on premises. The parking structure is the same structure. But it seems as though they sand blasted and painted the entire building. I don't know if they re-did the electrical and plumbing, but the lighting has certainly been upgraded. I don't know if they installed new elevators or refurbished the existing units; but the elevators I rode in operated smoothly. During my last stay, I used a parking lot "across the street" (Arlington). At that time, it was rough and wasn't clearly identified as casino parking. Now this lot--and another separate lot have been resurfaced and repainted. New lighting, security cameras and perimeter fencing have been installed. There's even some public art. Only a portion of the gaming floor--that portion, which is part of the entry, adjacent to hotel reception desk, has reopened. The only games available are slots. I estimate that 70% of the previous gaming floor is in areas still undergoing renovation. There were two hotel towers. One of the hotel towers has been rehabilitated; the other hotel tower is undergoing renovation. (I read that they plan to build additional hotel towers.) The new style and color palette is modern and classy. It bears no similarity to what was before. The property is still a work on progress. They are still renovating existing hotel rooms; I read that they plan to build additional hotel towers. The restaurants have not opened yet. There is more gaming area to re-open. There is going to be a pool and spa. They even say that ownership is going to develop an entertainment corridor along 4th street. I'll visit again to see the progress. But seeing what has been done already is an indication of a lot of positive change.

Kelly O.

Yelp
Great room. Clean, well appointed and quiet. Staff was friendly, helpful and polite. A definite do over!

Barbie G.

Yelp
My daughter got harassed because of her purse it's one of the new mini backpacks that everyone is using when asked why he said there can be a gun or knife inside of it I then looked at that man and said my purse is three times that size. And I stated that means I have to go all the way back to my room he got a puzzled look on his face like he didn't think we had a room here...so long story short they like to harass minorities here. It's not work the money and then to spend more money playing here ....never coming back to this place again and I looked and it does not say you can't have a little backpack purse on the floor anywhere on the website...it's bull

Zack B.

Yelp
As far as casinos in reno, it's pretty much what you'd expect. I found it to be cleaner than most. We also ate at the steakhouse. We split a rib eye and mac n cheese. That was actually one of the best steaks I've EVER had. You're gonna pay for it, but it's worth every penny. Service was top-notch, too. Minus one star for the locked out thermostat in the room. The A/C wouldn't cool below 75, and I'm pretty sure it was even warmer. Also, those A/C units are loud. On, off, on, off, all night. Not a good night's rest at all.

Edevelia B.

Yelp
Worst casino her for new years and my birthday weekend came here and music sucked dj worst ever music beat all the same got hungry every thing closed except the coffee shop all they had to eat was a cold salad worst thing unfriendly staff seemed like the didn't want to be there no fork what the fuck am I supposed to eat my dam salad with my fingers lazy ass employees if you don't like your job find another one this casino is the worst stay away even circus circus is better than this place get it together before you go bankrupt because you're the worst in Reno and your prices are the highest from every other casino in Reno

Roy S.

Yelp
Im black gold card one away from top card i lost 500 and was texting freinds for money so i could keep playing and im black and the black guard comes up and tells me if u not spending money or staying here u gotta go this is for gambling and sleeping. The service is shit if u go often you losing often it only pays once every 5th trip and regarldless of how much u spend the perks are crap compared to what u loss the gold ranch has the best slot ods the j is is a shit show

Young L.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years. Before the makeover. Now they've upgraded. I love it even more. The only thing that bums is that they're driving people away during football season because they're not showing local games such as 9ers or even the raiders. They were playing day before college reruns. Last but not least not enough tables and cut off times are early if not busy. Staff and rooms are perfect

Anne J.

Yelp
Hannah' Table has excellent food and service. Clean relaxed atmosphere. Nice booths for privacy. Good for a couple of friends who like to chat! Ample parking.

Vic C.

Yelp
The pool was freezing! TV in room didn't work! The food is expensive and they don't have what they advertise!

Frank S.

Yelp
Great bar. Food solid. Pricy. Staff nice. Young. Need more training. Steak sampler a cool idea

Bla B.

Yelp
It more closely resembles a roach filled frathouse than a hotel. The rooms had an extremely unpleasant odor and there was consistent noise that made sleeping impossible.

Redmond C.

Yelp
The best part of our experience is the room. Bed, pillows, sheets are all great! The room fridge is par to other hotels. The surroundings are ample and clean. My only disappointment was the hotel buffet. For the price, it was a disaster! The crab was advertised but nowhere to be found. And to advertise that they are the only buffet in town, you would expect them to be good but not the case. Total let down. Didn't have a chance to try the other hotel restaurant but if the buffet is an indication, I'd rather not.

Patricia T.

Yelp
Nice room but you get what you pay for. Never have I ever stayed at a "resort" that didn't provide a microwave in room. 1. The water from the faucets are scalding hot and messed up. 2. The door on the shower was crooked and couldn't be closed. 3. No safety bars in the shower. 4. The temp in the room was impossible to regulate. 5. The restaurant in the hotel did not get our order right, had to keep asking for things we ordered. 6. Never have I stayed at a hotel that does NOT service the room. But this turned out to be a good weekend bc it was a family weekend.

Christine D.

Yelp
Stayed the night here on 8/30-8/31, I reserved 2 double queen bed rooms a month in advance. We got there early and luckily was able to get an early check in on one of the rooms but the second wasn't ready and was told to come back closer to check in time which is 3. We went back at 3 and the room still wasn't ready left and came back again 2hrs later and still wasn't ready. The rooms were supposed to be next to each other but we had to settle for a few doors down since they were behind on cleaning. When we got in the second room it was really dark and the bed cover had very visible stains. I tried calling housekeeping and got no answer. The casino was pretty lack luster at one point we had a $20 get taken by one of the games and not register so we had to sit there for about 15-20 mins till they figured out what went wrong. We got free buffet vouchers but were unable to use them since they don't open till 4pm and we had a game to go to but when we came back they were already closed. A all day buffet would have been great. We went to Hannah's table for lunch and dinner and the food was great but service was pretty slow. The next morning I went to get coffee from Hannah's express and for one medium black coffee, and three small caramel macchiatos it was over $30. Way too expensive for a couple of mediocre coffees. I could've had better ones at a real Starbucks. Overall the place was ok but for a few extra bucks I would stay at GSR or Peppermill

Yelp
Our room was nice enough, typical casino hotel, everything is expensive. Very disappointed that the fitness center has limited hours and would have stayed elsewhere if I knew about the limited hours.

Yelp
In my rage I totally forgot that I took video and pictures! I have never seen anything like this! We've traveled sooooo much in my life and this is the first!

Yelp
Terrific resort! The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is fantastic. My thanks to Heather at my check in -- she was so friendly, kind and helped me quite at bit -- I got a terrific room and good rate. Shane, at the J Paul Steakhouse bar is very knowledgeable, attentive and great to chat with wine choices. Zach is also very friendly and gave me terrific dessert advice. The resort/rooms are very clean.

Yelp
New paint, carpet and interior design. Plenty of slot machines. It does not smell like smoke. Friendly staff. They need to improve the wine selection. Restaurants: Hanna's Table, The Buffet and J Paul's Italian Steakhouse Within walking walking distance of Glow Plaza and downtown. Really enjoyed live music at the bar. Looking forward to seeing more of it.

Yelp
They have done a wonderful job remodeling and updating this property. Yes, it's new and improved. The most impressive portion of the improvement is the excellent staff! Everyone is kind and friendly. One person stands out above the rest.... Heather, the Front Desk Supervisor. With her the phase " Customer Service" is NOT an oxymoron! She went above and beyond d beyond helping me straighten out a 3rd part booking mistake. I will be coming back here each and every time I'm in Reno. Keep up the GREAT job Heather!

Yelp
I stayed here before it was very very nice. Too bad they did not have no rooms out or I would've stayed there for the nugget.

Yelp
Pretty impressed with the new renovations and vibe at The J. They upcycled this old Reno landmark quite well! Definitely worth adding to your rotation of mello spots to hang out for a drink, steak, or for the night.

Yelp
The accommodation and service for evacuated families provided the local community much needed support. Room, facilities, Food and Staff helped ease the stress of the past week fire threat. We need to acknowledge the support from the J Resort and other casino hotels with praise and loyalty. Actions speak much louder than words and these actions demonstrate how we pull together as a community. Mahan's
