On the Grid : Jack Wood Gallery

"Stepping foot inside Jack Wood’s eponymous gallery is stepping back in time. Wood specializes in 19th and 20th-century lithographs from all over the world that won’t break the bank, with prices ranging from $150 to $450. Whether you’re tomb raiding for ancient artifacts or just some raucous retro ads, there’s bound to be something at Jack Wood Gallery that speaks to you." - Empower

Jack is a curator who sells rare, antique posters, mostly European, that he selected with his own artist's eye 👁️. You will not be disappointed, because he does this for the love of the work. Nothing less will do. Take home something that makes you happy!

Amazing gallery. There was so much to look at, I could probably have spent hours browsing. The owner was very helpful and was patient with me as I looked through the stack of posters until I found what I was looking for. Would 10/10 recommend

Very nice selection of authentic vintage posters. Quite a pleasant surprise during a quick trip. The owner patiently answered my questions. He has lived in and often travels to France to find these wonderful pieces. Need to plan more time for another visit.

I’ve bought three posters from Mr. Wood. He’s friendly and knowledgeable. His gallery is quite unique in that he’s got everything from turn of the century French art nouveau to Bengals Super Bowl posters. It’s all linen mounted. It’s all in good condition. There is pretty much something there for everybody. A Cincinnati treasure.

I've walked past this gallery many times in the past, and today I decided to step inside and browse. It was what a poster art gallery should be--it was cramped but cozy, full of curiosities, and it had that just-right stale smell that a gallery of this sort should possess. There were tons, literally tons, of gorgeous posters from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. As I browsed, I began to regret having such a small house with precious little wall space upon which to hang art. The owner was friendly and helpful and, as one would expect, very knowledgeable. The prices can be a bit steep, but this is to be expected with collectibles. This gallery is a nice addition to OTR. Now if only a proper vintage bookstore would crop up...

Jack is a nice man and took the time to guide me to a first piece of poster art, a Maîtres de l'Affiche. This collection is second to none in the region and definitely worth a visit. Come with some themes and a potential budget in mind so he can guide you because there is a lot in a small space. Hope to visit and buy again.

Incredible collection of vintage (and original) posters, most from overseas. This is a must stop and see place for all, especially and true cycling enthusiasts. Tour posters, legendary cyclist from all areas.

Yelp
We randomly found this place while in town for a wedding. The collection is insane. There is something magical about watching the owner flip through the stacks ever so carefully to reveal the posters. I was surprised by how knowledgeable he was about the artists themselves. The owner has the entire collection memorized so you can tell him practically any genre (music, sports, art exhibitions, travel posters, fashion, military etc..) and he will find you something you would love or wasn't even expecting. We ended up getting two because we couldn't decide. They are definitely pricey but he can help you find something in your price range. Since we were coming from out of town he had the posters mailed and they arrived in perfect condition. We got the framed immediately and have been enjoying them every day.

Yelp
Visiting Jack Wood Gallery, I visually felt like a kind in a candy shop but also found myself completely intimidated! I had no idea there were individuals so educated in vintage posters or that there was even so much to know. Based on the level of passion and excitement, I'll assume it was the owner I saw in the store. I have to admit that I spent half of my time eavesdropping on his interaction with some customers where he was bending over backwards to find the most perfect poster for their wishes. He seemed delightful and completely in his element. I saw everything from european travel posters to war time patriotism and even old french bicycle ads. Next time I'll allot more time to browse. I felt like I could have gotten a gift for just about anyone I know somewhere in the stacks of pristine canvas mounted posters. Stop in! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Fantastic shop in Cincinnati selling original vintage posters and graphic prints of all types! Owner is incredibly knowledgable, well-traveled and helpful. This is the place where ANYONE can find something INCREDIBLE to hang on their wall at home or work. He also purchases items. Impressive collection of gorgeous travel posters, product posters, some move posters, advertisements, etc. from all around the world and from all decades. Most posters mounted on linen, in great shape, and ready to frame. Truly a top-notch collection...and it's all for sale! Not inexpensive, but the posters are really amazing. My purchases: two travel posters from Japan (1930s, 1950s) and a French advertisement (1890s).

Yelp
This local gem of a gallery is my favorite in town. Not only do I love the posters, but Jack is one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever met and will spend tons of time explaining each one to you. He is so pleasant to work with and also has a real eye for framing them. I would highly recommend this gallery, if you are ever in Cincinnati. After you buy a beautiful poster or two, turn right out of his door and go get yourself an ice cream cone at Graeters!

Yelp
We were in Cincinnati for a wedding weekend and spent most of a day walking around the OTR neighborhood which is packed with cool shops, wine bars, and pubs. I wandered into Jack Wood Gallery and was very impressed with his selection of antique posters. If you have a wall where you want to make a colorful, modern statement, this shop will have something to fill the space. He had many of the posters framed and hanging to give you an idea of how a poster might transform your space. He had posters in every area: travel, sports, food, entertainment - something for everyone. It's worth a visit.
