Jacka Bakery & Delicatessen

I am gutted to be writing this because in the previous years this has been such a fab spot however today the service was absolutely horrid. The lady behind the counter could not have been any less friendly, I know we had a big order however that shouldn't have warranted us such poor treatment. First of all I thought it was a little bit strange that there was no hot chocolate even though there was jar of chocolate powder behind the server. We tried to make conversation but whenever we did we were met with snide remarks and snide looks. We ordered two matchas which were not prepared to a standard they warrants them costing £5, they were gray and clumpy and didn't taste anything like matcha. We also noticed that the coffee basket was not cleaned in between coffees which made the coffee taste bad. we felt as if we were an inconvenience to the server which is ridiculous because if anything you want to attract customers and not push them away, especially when they are placing a big order. I would like to say the pastries however did taste amazing, like they always do, it's just a shame that the lady behind the counter had to dampen our experience with her bad attitude. Honestly I was very disappointed after hyping this place up to everyone.

Always love visiting this shop! Always an amazing welcome, happy, cheerful staff who make my day! Amazing food particularly their new soups made by Carly, hot and scrumptious 😋 with a huge piece of home baked sourdough bread, super tasty as always! The staff in this place are always gracious and cheerful, they actively enjoy their customers company, and always provide an amazing service, I would be hard pressed to find a better bakery in Plymouth! Get yourself down there and find out for yourselves, lots of super food to choose from, assorted toasties, soup, pasties you name it, they have it all in the oldest bakery in the country, well done Carly and team Jacka!!

We had a sourdough bread last week from this bakery and we had it all this week. It still tastes great And today we had a break there. There are 2 tables outside no sitting inside available. My danish pastry with summer fruit was delicious. Low sugar, crunchy from the sides and creamy in the middle. Mmm I love it. My drink - coconut iced mocha was on a sweet side. I couldn’t finish it. All is perfect here, but to be able to have options to order you need to be there early in the morning. By 11 o’clock most of the products were sold out.

Veggy pasty is full of mold :-( But cinnamon bun is amazing! We went there this morning to buy some food for our today's hike and bought (above other things) a vegan pasty and a vegan spiced roll, both from the open fridge. We wanted to eat it 3 hours later and both items were full of mold. We were really shocked. I tried to call the shop, but nobody answered. We were only this day in Plymouth, so we can't go back. Update: we reached out to the owners via Facebook, they explained that they don't make the vegan rolls and pastys themselves and assured us we would receive our money back. Didn't happen so far, but let's see :-) And I want to add, that the cinnamon roll is simply amazing.

What a delicious stop! Grabbed a cappuccino and pastry. Excellent service with a few small tables outside. The fresh bread was to die for. A must visit!

As a Polish woman who truly loves and values high-quality bread, I can honestly say: this is the best bread I’ve found in the UK – fresh, beautifully baked, and absolutely delicious. The sweet pastries are outstanding (just like the ones back home!), and the coffee is simply perfect – rich, smooth, and full of flavour. The staff are always warm, kind, and professional. I absolutely love coming here every Friday – it’s my little weekly ritual and highlight. Jacka Bakery is a gem in Plymouth – a place made with heart.

As a viennoiseries lover i was looking for a tasty and french like breakfast. Surprisingly i found this bakery. I tasted their cinnamon roll which is a good mixture of puff pastry and bread. I really enjoyed it and it saved my Start in the day.

Jacka's sourdough bread is the best I've ever tasted and I continue to buy my sourdough there. Fabulous service and the quality of tge sourdough is fantastic.

I used to work in a shop on the Barbican on the weekends, and this place made it all the more enjoyable, brilliant for lunches, very tasty buns and cakes, and on the rare occasion i had the hot food, it was just as yummy Only complaint would be that there isnt an amazing amount of variety, but this is a very minor thing Overall, it's a wonderful little shop, with beautifully made and wonderful tasting products.

Really good pasties and cakes. One of my favourite bakeries. Reasonably priced and sometimes they have their stuff reduced towards the end of the day which is always a bonus!

Quite a let down. Has an old oven still visible at the back but seems long since to have sold out to a local chain and now sells an indifferent selection of very ordinary stuff.
