Jack's Famous Deli

I have been going to this place for years and I have not had one problem. However, I can agree with most of these reviews, the cashier could use a training class on how to socialize with the public. However, I have had the breakfast sandwiches (Mainly the BLT on a croissant with avocado) and it is really good. for lunch, I've had the chicken wings and fries, gyro's and the cheesesteaks and though they were also good but, at time the chicken can be fried entirely to hard. I go there so much the staff pretty much knows me and knows what I want before I ask for it. So, I don't have real issues with the place at all. I would recommend the place. People have off days at times.

Update April 2024 (4 stars) hot pastrami on rye, chips, and bottled drink ran $16 bucks, including tax. Nothing special to behold at this place, but, it was a solid deli lunch at a premium location near the National Mall. I will be giving this place another chance. I’ll comment that the salad bar / hot food bar was totally empty and not in use during my weekday lunch hour timeframe visit. They might as well demolish that bar to make room for more seating, and focus on what seems to be their core competency: slinging decent sandwiches off the grill. Prior review (3 stars) $24 (no beverage nor tip) Jack’s take out lunch: corned beef on rye sammich & a small plate of Chinese food. A beverage would run additional. You’re more paying for the location overhead (Penn Quarter & Judiciary Square) than the rather unremarkable quality of the food.

I went in blind just because of the name 'Jack's Famous Deli ' locals in the area seems to go there frequently for a sandwich. Service is quick and attentive and the sandwiches are packed with flavour. There is some seating inside and outside.

Jack’s Famous Deli in DC is a must-visit for anyone who loves classic delis! The pastrami sandwich is simply delicious, packed with flavor and made with fresh ingredients. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, perfect for a quick bite or a hearty breakfast. Whenever I’m in the area, I make sure to stop by. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic deli experience!

Came here in the middle of the day tired from all the walking we do here as tourists! I don't enjoy going to big chain places on vacation unless absolutely necessary so this is where we ended up. We got some New York reubens and a salad I think it was the best reuben I have ever had and I like to try one everywhere I can. The seating is a little tight inside but what do you expect from a deli? The sandwiches were good sized for 10 bucks too. One of us is gluten free and they ate a salad here no problem!

Delicious chicken gyro and fries. Walking distance from the Moultrie Courthouse. They have hot buffet dishes including general Tso chicken and lo me in at lunch.

Very good "New Yorker" sandwich and chili!

Nothing fancy. I stopped in here for a tuna sandwich for lunch, because every other place on the street was crowded. Service was fast, partly because the lady behind the counter was a bit hyper. I was glad I did not have to wait as I was a bit rushed. As far as the sandwich goes, it was edible, but nothing to really talk about.
